Guest Reviews
- WarindiG (7/5): A quaint serene escape - The closeness of the Villa to the river. Hearing the water rush down as you sleep was amazing!
The host was great! And the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The bed was quite comfortable and the hot water bottle touch was quite thoughtful Not that I didn't like but that it can be better - higher thread count sheets. An additional throw in cases of colder nights. Tea/coffee satchets in the rooms for a late night cuppa.
- Marie-Garance (10/5): -
- Hellen (10/5): Blissful Staycation - Everything was a 10/10
The staff, the ambience, the hospitality, the breakfast, the rooms, the waterfall! Pure bliss! Honestly, there is nothing to dislike in this place!
- Chege (9/5): Just brilliant! Falling a sleep to the sound of the falls and waking up to it roars was more than a therapeutic. We will - Rustic feel but yet vey homely and comfortable.
- Marc (10/5): Gem Nairobi hide out - Lovely location, friendly staff & family vibe. Vintage decor, great breakfast Works well as a B&B, has potential for more
- Valentina (1/5): The place needs improvements before offering a comfortable stay - Location was pretty and I liked that the place was surrounded by nature. The breakfast location was pretty. The reception was dark when I got there, and I was given a lower room floor with roaches on the bed mosquito net. I asked to be moved up, and the other room had bugs under the sheets, and the window didn't close properly.
- Brian (10/5): I’m coming back again and again. - As a nature lover and architect, the place was a perfect combination. The friendly staff added to make my stay like home. From the gate, descending down through a meandering garden path cut in stone, the sound of the waterfall was the first greeting. The smiles of the staff was next. This family home designed by the late father, Jorgensen, is a well kept treasure to be shared. Not much. One area of improvement may be to diversify the breakfast offerings.
- Richard (10/5): We love the scenery; nature, the sound of waterfall, food prepared with love and good reception. - It was a perfect gateway. N/A
- Michael (10/5): - Breafast, entire staff and the nature
- Nils (9/5): - Ein echter Geheimtipp in Nairobi.
- Sarah (10/5): - This accommodation was right next to a beautiful waterfall in a very quiet, safe green area. The hosts were very warm and friendly, always there to help us with anything that we needed and making sure we were having a nice time. The value for money is incredible. I will definitely be back!
- Stephanie (10/5): Perfect city escape! - This charming guesthouse was perfect.
the soothing sound of the river & mini waterfall, the beautiful garden had cozy nooks to sit , unwind and listen to the trees rustling with a cup of delicious aromatic coffee, it was the perfect way to start your mornings or end your day of exploration - I even ended buying 500g of coffee to bring home!
Comfy beds and clean bathroom with a great shower to set you up for the morning and end the night.
The team was always smiling and ready to help which added to making it a wonderful 2 days.
While the location is a bit out of town, it is so easy to get an uber or boda boda to bring you to wherever you need to get to. And if you order food delivery, just pop into the kitchen to ask for cutlery and utensils and a wine glass or make yourself a tea or coffee to have after your meal!
Bonus - catto and doggo to play with! They didn’t have wine but had a fridge in the room which was great for me to chill the wines I bought at the supermarket.
So win - win 😁
- Melissa (10/5): Magical - This place is like a piece of heavens on Earth! it felt so surreal and magical.. you get to stay in the middle of an enchanted forest that is right next to a waterfall! you get to hear the sounds of the waterfall day and night which is extremely soothing. The architecture of the place is very authentic and rustic while still maintaining the modern aspect. I liked the stone walls and the unique layout of the room and the entrance as well as the hallway. The entrance to the hotel is the best! you get to walk in mid of nature with beautiful stairways.. the hotel has two very cute dogs outside that were an absolute friendly addition to my stay (one of them is called Sunday she's such a good girl !) then if you want to sit outside on the porch of the hotel they have a small terrace that overlooks the waterfall directly, also a swing and a hammock.. you're surrounded by trees and bushes and flowers. I can't even explain the level of comfort and soothing that gives. it's also quite close to Village market and other places so you're not disconnected from the outside world. the area is safe and secure and the Ubers and food delivery get there easily. There's also something about the soaps and shampoo they put in the rooms: It's from Cinnabar Green; a great natural product that makes you feel like you're in a second rainforest lol.. definitely fancy and amazingly natural. Finally, Mr. Norman was friendly and helpful, and there was a lovely old lady too she was so kind and warm.. I would definitely stay there again if I go back to Kenya! Nothing to dislike really.. I wish there was a TV in my room but in a place like that honestly who needs Tv, just reconnect with nature and reflect.. forget about the outside world!
- Otieno (10/5): Excellent - Relaxed atmosphere Stairs
- Daniele (10/5): For professional and private trips alike - This place is the closest I've seen to the concept of "agritourism" in Europe: a nice place, not too expensive, with a family management, offering excellent quality and local produce, without compromising on any of the essentials.
Villa Rock-Stop Falls is not only excellent for leisure travellers, but also great for those doing business around the UN/Embassies' area, which is less than ten minutes away by car with zero traffic ensured.
- Francis (10/5): This is truly a hidden paradise in a very busy city. Will be back again! - When you travel across the globe and stay in many different places, you come to recognize when a host truly exceeds every expectation. Norman is exactly that host.
Villa Rock Stop Falls in Nairobi is, without a doubt, one of the most underrated gems in the city. I’ve been traveling back and forth to Nairobi for the past two years, typically staying in areas like Lavington, Kileleshwa, and Kilimani. This time, I decided to explore a quieter side of the city—and I’m so glad I did.
This place delivers far beyond expectations. If you’re looking for peace and serenity away from Nairobi’s chaotic traffic, this is the spot. Every aspect of the stay is thoughtfully done. The location is incredibly quiet—something that anyone familiar with Nairobi knows is rare—and it provides some of the best sleep you’ll get in the city.
What truly sets this place apart is its connection with nature. Surrounded by lush greenery, it perfectly blends a cabin-like feel with modern comfort, creating a secluded yet refined escape.
Norman makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. His warm personality, genuine care, and exceptional hospitality stand out immediately. When I needed a last-minute late checkout, he went above and beyond to accommodate me—an experience that sealed this as a place I will always recommend.
It’s also an ideal getaway for remote work, with reliable high-speed internet and a friendly staff that ensures you’re well taken care of—including a complimentary breakfast to start your day.
Thank you, Norman, for creating such a relaxing and welcoming space. This is truly a hidden paradise, and I look forward to returning. I didn't like the fact that my trip was short.

- Julie (10/5): Adorable!
- alessandro (10/5): - the tranquility.
- Philipp (10/5): - We had a lovely time at Villa Rock Stops. It’s a very clean place and honestly feels like a breath of fresh air right in the middle of the bustling city.
The best part of our stay was the Manager Norman. We spent a full day with him and he was amazing, he took us on a tour of Nairobi National Park (very good Price) and then showed us around downtown and other parts of the city. He is a super nice, friendly guy who helped us with every question we had and really went out of his way to help (eben days after our stay!!).
He made our arrival and our first time in Kenya the best it could possibly be.
If you’re coming to Nairobi, I highly recommend staying here and hanging out with him! /
- Dora (10/5): Perfect choice - Everything was perfect, better than I would’ve imagined! I will come back! There are many stairs, it was not a big problem for me but it could be for someone else
Rien
- Phylicia (10/5): - The sound of the river, the view of the river, beyond words, so inspiring
- Leon (10/5): Top notch - A beautiful property in a peaceful part of Nairobi . I stayed for 4 nights and would happily have stayed for many more . The rooms are very clean , the bed super is super comfortable and breakfast is wonderful . Norman along with everyone at the villa else makes you feel so welcome . A special stay and look forward to visiting again Nothing - an exceptional stay
- Guillem (9/5): -
- Seth (10/5): -
- Ummuhani (9/5): Amazing - It had a chilled vibe Very cold, it will be nice to have heaters in the rooms
- Joan (10/5): -
- Thorsten (10/5): Absolute great - Quiet place next to an huge park. Very unique architecture . It reminds me of Le Corbusier. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Mariella (7/5): Cool architecture, sweet dog! - The architecture is awesome and intriguing. Being by a waterfall and karura forest makes the site very beautiful, peaceful and bucolic, and there are nice spaces outside to chill and enjoy being surrounded by nature. The resident doggy, Sandy, is a delight! We appreciated a wide range of nice hot beverages we could help ourselves to any time. As cool as the architecture is, it does exclude a lot of light. Having two single beds pushed together to make a "double" was less comfy. The interior is a tad run down and could perhaps use a bit of love and care.
- ram (10/5): A stay that will affect you - I simply fell in love with this place and its location. I stayed in several areas in Neirobi during my visit and this place offers the best value in Neirobi. To start , the place is unique , located in Runda, an upscale area and close to numerous restaurants and the wonderful Village Mall. Just step outside after getting served breakfast and take in the beauty, the vegetation, grab a chair and enjoy the sound of the waterfall in view. I can't praise the staff enough. They are wonderful and attentive l. Book fast if you truly want to enjoy your stay in Neirobi. Fr Not all the rooms are the same size, so select the more spacious room that comes with a refrigerator and the microwave. Otherwise, I loved my experience and how I was treated as a guest

- Andra (10/5): Hidden gem - Villa Rock Stop Falls is an absolute treasure! Situated right by the forest, this place offers the perfect escape from Nairobi’s hustle and bustle. Waking up to the sight and sound of a waterfall from my room was nothing short of magical; it’s the kind of tranquil experience you don’t expect to find so close to the city.
But what truly sets this accommodation apart is the exceptional service. The staff’s attentiveness and genuine care made me feel like more than just a guest; every detail was thoughtfully considered, from check-in to check-out. It’s rare to experience this level of hospitality, and it transformed a great stay into an unforgettable one.
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with outstanding service and stunning natural surroundings, I can’t recommend Villa Rock Stop Falls highly enough!
- Kinsella (10/5): Excellent, enjoyable and informative - The nine days we spent in Villa Rock, Stop Falls were probably some of the best in our lives. Nestled among trees with the wonderful sound of the Falls in the background, the villa is a delight of art and sculpture - look out for the thief on the wall.
The bedrooms are spacious and we all commented on the comfort of the beds. Fresh bottled water and mosquito nets are standard. Breakfast was always a delight with a choice of wonderful fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and eggs, tea and coffee. But the the best feature of the Villa is Norman, owner and manager whose kindness, local knowledge and delightful in Nairobi and its many surrounding features was imparted to us with enthusiasm. His willingness to drive us places, his care and his ability to make us all feel at ease was fantastic. It was obvious that his staff are happy and equally delighted to engage with their guests. A specials thanks goes to Mama Rose for her great kindness. The steps to the Villa could have done with a rail. All right for my son(twenties), and my nephews (thirties and forties) but difficult for me as I have balance problems... but with their help and sometimes the help of the gracious staff I managed.
- Isobel (10/5): Really cool stay - Everything is great about this place! Right by the waterfall for a surreal experience — it feels like sleeping in a treehouse, literally surrounded by the forest, in a well considered architecturally designed residence. Convenient location, was easy to get Ubers to various activities, and the staff were just lovey!
- Harro (8/5): Pleasant stay, interesting building, value for money - Continental breakfast was good. Architecture of the place was interesting. Rushing of the water in the river next to the hotel was soothing (due to the rainy season it is full). Forest view.
- Mercy (9/5): - I loved how peaceful and secluded this cottage was, the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The river backdrop was absolutely stunning, like the perfect finishing touch. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat surrounded by lush greenery and a beautiful riverside view.
- Juan (10/5): Original place, attentive and warm staff. - It really is a very original place, created by someone with a passion for classic modernist architecture that is inspiring. The owners are most helpful and the staff is lovely, there is coffee and tea and bananas 24 hours for you, and you sleep to the sound of the waterfall surrounded by green. There are many small stairs. They are mostly in small groups of 3 - 5, so this is not a problem unless you have trouble walking. And the staff is always there to help.
- Daniele (10/5): - wonderful location
beautiful architecture
Norman and all the staff are very friendly
extremely cozy and you feel cuddled because of the old structure and the peculiar architecture, it is hard to clean very thoroughly certain parts (windows among others), however these are mostly details
- Juliette (10/5): - Great hotel located in a calm area of the city and sourrounded by greenery. The room was comfortable and the staff were present and helpful.
- Kevin Kinuthia (10/5): -
- Erkinbek (10/5): - I enjoy staying in that hotel in the forest and peaceful neighborhood!!; N/A
Colazione varia e abbondante, molto buona. Consigliatissimo.
- Iraida (10/5): Best stay in Nairobi! - We had the best stay at Villa rock - we chose this place with my partner as our "anchor" point in Nairobi for our Kenya travels and we were not disappointed. The place is in a quite safe neighbourhood, very easy to get around the city and to main sightseeing points, next to the UN and embassies. Easy to order uber/cabs - the property can also arrange transport when needed. The actual building is embedded in the outskirts of the Karura Forest, and you can hear the waterfall. The rooms are super comfy (and the beds!), and the breakfast was excellent - they even arranged an early breakfast for us a day we were picked up quite early for an excursion. Norman, Lenah, Rafaelle etc - fantastic team, easy to communicate with and flexible with arrivals etc. NA

- Monika (10/5): -
- Kyran (10/5): - Villa Rockstop falls is a little aosis in busy Nairobi. The Nature and the waterfall around is very Intriging. The architecture is a mavel.
The owner Norman organised for us a wonderful Safari to the Masai Mara of which me and the family enjoyed very much.
I highly recommrnd
- Beatriz (10/5): The waterfall house - Everything: the view to the waterfall and garden, the design of the building, the kindness of the owner and staff, the possibility to know Nairobi as a local... Nothing.
- Gracey (10/5): If you love being in nature, this is the perfect place for you… - Staying here was such a peaceful experience. It’s surrounded by nature, with a view of an amazing waterfall. The room was large, comfortable, and felt like a beautiful apartment. The staff were both friendly and professional, and the food was delicious. The location is perfect, right in Gigiri and close to the UN. The whole place feels warm and welcoming, with stunning architecture that makes it even more special. I liked everything
- Oluwayemisi (3/5): The overall biophyllic concept of th property is great. I hope the owners will consider investing in making the propert - I liked the nature-themed biophilic concept, which is actually what attracted me to the property. The staff are very friendly. While I appreciated the work put into the common areas, I found the rooms very uncomfortable. The cold unadorned grey walls and the window bars really makes the room look and feel like a dungeon. There were also a lot of bee hives around the windows - it was hard to open the windows because the bees got in hence I couldn’t enjoy the sounds of the waterfalls or get some fresh ventilation in to air out the room. The room was rather bare (without even a TV in the room and common areas) and the amenities listed on booking (for e.g. private kitchen) were quite misleading. The bed was large but really hard.
I arrived during the cold season in Nairobi and the entire property was very cold, even much colder than the actual temperature due to the structural set up. I imagine this would be a great asset during the hot months in Nairobi. Going by my experience, it just didn’t seem like the business had the capacity to comfortably cater to guests during the cold season. Upon request, I was thankfully provided a small space heater to use in the bedroom, which helped a bit with warming up the room. I couldn’t really enjoy the common area (decorated with interesting artifacts and books) because it was freezing. I made the suggestion to the owner to have a fireplace set up to warm up the common areas, but I was told that the place was not built to have a fireplace and they provided lots of tea to keep warm. Sadly, I had to cut my stay short due these and other issues that came up. Also note, the property location is not really in Gigiri, as advertised.
- Katherine (9/5): Lovely - the waterfall is great to relax by and the staff was wonderful - Very peaceful, really kind staff, great dinner nothing, totally matched expectations
- Andreas (10/5): Great experience - The hospitality of Norman was exceptional. He invited us for a barbecue, got medication for us when we were sick, was always helpful and responsive when we needed anything. The property offered plenty of opportunities to get comfortable, coffee and bananas were provided throughout the day. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. Breakfast could be a little more varied.
- Daisy (10/5): Best hotel in the world 💕 - This was honestly one of the best places I have stayed in the world (and I have travelled a fair amount). The warm welcome and family feel was next to none. Amazing location, with beautiful surroundings. Wonderful hosts with all you could wish for, friendly, welcoming, going above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and at home. The room was wonderful and the sound of the waterfall was soothing. Tea, coffee, water, gnuts and bananas on tap was an excellent bonus. I cannot express how wonderful our stay was and if you are coming to Nairobi it is a must stay. Thank you so much to Norman and the team for our wonderful stay. We’ll see you next time!
- Robert (9/5): If you like nature, it is your best choice in Nairobi - Beautiful environment, very helpful staff, great breakfast. Bit out of town but Uber works well and cheap. The bed is uncomfortable for tall visitors.
- Erkinbek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cory (9/5): Superb -
- Jakobsen (10/5): I slept so well next to the waterfalls. The staff were SO kind and attentive. - The hotel is set in a natural rock garden leading down to the waterfalls. Every room overlooks the falls. It's built by a Danish-Norwegian architect in a way that adapts to the nature around it. As a Norwegian I LOVED it. The staff are SOOO attentive and kind. They really go above and beyond. The breakfast is generous and the dinner is tasty and great value for money. Leave the window open at night and the falls give you the perfect white noise to fall asleep to. I honestly found nothing not to like.
- Laure (8/5): Wonderful - Villa Stop-Rock Falls is a real gem in the city of Nairobi for anyone who likes Modernism and Architecture at large. This outstanding piece of architecture is nested is absolutely fantastique nature, between a lush garden and the wild river of Karura Forest. Lots of details in the furniture too, very friendly staff. We liked being close to the city center with Uber but way from the madness. Our room was confortable enough. We could easily get Uber Eats delivered when needed. Be prepared to carry you suitcase a number of stairs to the hotel and inside :) Not suitable for someone disable. We were with our 2 year old son and had no issue though. The sound of the waterfall can be impressive at first but we got used to it and actually found it calming.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anita (9/5): It felt like home. - I loved the location. Every night I fell asleep to the sound of a waterfall below my window and every morning I woke up with birds singing their hearts out. I also enjoyed sharing delicious meals with the other guests.
- Amenya (10/5): Good place to chill - Everything about the place was nice, the staff, scenery, rooms, the place. Everything There was no water to drink in our rooms
- Atieno (10/5): Relaxing! - It’s sooooo relaxing!! Nothing! This place is a 10/10
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Unique design We underestimated how loud the falls are…
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Great place! Nice breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. The owner is also awesome.
It's far from downtown but in exchange you get clean air, green and safe environment
- Lukas (10/5): A special villa, embedded in a beautiful garden. - Very friendly staff that takes care of the guests. Special and particular architecture makes this place special. Beautiful garden with lounges and seats to stay outside and nice view onto the Karura forest and the river that goes by. A small warning for the taller guests and couples: Currently the beds are rather small ca. 180cm x 130cm (according to the host bigger beds are in planning. In case of doubt better ask.)
- Rob (9/5): A unique experience for an unbeatable price - Its a crazy architectural pearl in the middle of a forest. The bathroom could have been a bit better.
Hard to find.
- Baliyan (9/5): A home away from home - Norman is a great host and has a wonderful team. Breakfast was great, the staff is excellent and service is top notch. They all go out of their way to make your stay pleasant and customized to your comfort and liking. The location is beautiful and relaxing to come back to from a long day.
- Rebecca (10/5): Stay here - What an amazing place to stay. Absolutely beautiful. The staff makes you feel at home the second you walk in the door.
- Mercedes (10/5): Exceptional - Such a nice place and team!
- Pesha (10/5): Exceptional - The villa is a remarkable place both for its beauty and for the community it creates at the lovely breakfast table with free bananas with its window looking out onto the rushing river. The architecture of the building seamlessly combines with the natural landscape and the garden is bursting with life and small nooks that are perfect to either curl up and read or enjoy nature. Waking up to a view of the trees and the river in the sun was a pure joy. The hotel staff were beyond kind and warm, and I truly cannot recommend staying here enough.
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Its a very unique accomodation, which feels like a little sanctuary in the busy city. Its surrounded by green, you can hear the waterfall at night and the architecture is stunning. Additionally, the staff and host were super friendly and welcoming. We felt at home instantly :)
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great at this place, a real hidden gem in Nairobi. I was able to pre-order dinner which tasted excellent, and it was lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall. The only downside was that the pillows were a bit too hard for my taste and I got a bit of a neck ache unfortunately. And unfortunately there was a construction project on the plot next to the place which was loud in the morning, but it's not their fault, I was just unlucky that the construction was going on during my visit. Big thanks to Norman and the staff for the great service.
- Julie (9/5): Unique Place, Attentive Staff, Great Value - Uniqueness, setting, lovely staff, tasty breakfast, sound of rushing water, interesting guests, cosy spots to read, friendly dogs,.. A guest looking for luxury might not be satisfied here, but it is very comfortable with unique charm and EXCELLENT value for money.

Room was very big with lots of comfort, breakfast super tasty and the people working there are making the difference (lovely!!). We spent a whole day in the e garden outside to rest, work, and have a little trekking around the river.

- Ke (9/5): A Hidden Gem Nestled in Nature's Embrace - Our two-night stay at Villa Rock Stop Falls was super. This unique property blends natural elements with thoughtful design, creating an unforgettable stay.
The location is great, set within a well maintained, secure compound surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery. The walk to the villa itself is a journey through beautiful gardens, immediately setting a tranquil mood that persists throughout our stay.
The architectual design of the villa incorporates natural elements like rocks and wood, creating a harmonious balance between built structures and the surrounding environment. The interior is impressive, with carefully selected furniture and decor that manage to feel both sophisticated and homely.
The staff is outstanding in their hospitality. They are friendly and really helpful. Cleanliness throughout the property is noticable, and the breakfast service offers a variety of options. While we love staying here, there are two places that could be improved. The bathroom's natural ventilation system, while eco-friendly, could be more effective. The shower facilities, including the showerhead's flexibility and the temperature control system, have room for small improvements in terms of user experience.
Despite these minor considerations, Villa Rock Stop Falls stands out as an exceptional stay for both of us. We are looking forward to our next visit.
- Jackson (8/5): Very good -

The atmosphere is wonderfully serene, with unique and creative artwork displayed throughout the property, giving it a truly special vibe. Every corner feels like a piece of art, making the villa both relaxing and inspiring.
The location is beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of the nearby falls. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle of the city while still being conveniently accessible.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with a warm smile. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the stay even more enjoyable.

- Anya (10/5): Friendly haven in the city - The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. The vibe was welcoming and family run, but professional. They are kind enough to store luggage whilst we were away. The sound of the river is very relaxing and the trees and water makes it cool. The architecture is unique and rooms clean and tidy. Thank you!
