- Szekawati (10/5): - Bardzo ciekawe miejsce. Polecam- Phrae i ten Homestay

Excellent shower
Great place full of wonderful wood carvings
Very friendly owners
Would stay again Nothing
- Dorit (10/5): -
- Terence (9/5): A worthwhile experience - Surrounded by a Fabulous collection of teak carvings and in a very good location. Beds and pillows quite hard. Very simple breakfasts

- Andy of Norfolk (9/5): Excellent accommodation in Phrae - Lovely traditional Thai wooden buildings in beautiful garden. Friendly helpful owners. Interesting small museum on the property.
- Clement (8/5): -
- Federica (10/5): Antique and charming homestay - A truly unique, charming, and charming house in a quiet area not far from the main attractions. The room was well-maintained and equipped with every comfort. The hosts were simply fabulous, welcoming, kind, and attentive. Staying in the low season, I happened to be the only guest; I'm so happy to have been able to spend an evening with them, feeling like family. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the lady who runs the house made a lovely homemade breakfast.
Thank you again for your hospitality and kindness; I can't recommend you enough.
- Wachira (7/5): Good -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional in every way.
There is so much attention to detail in both the room, bathroom, and incredible outdoor area. The listing does not do the property it's full justice !
The bed and pillows were fabulous.
Having a delicious breakfast on an ancient handmade wooden table, beside a plunge pool sized water feature amongst a collection of beautiful plants, will be a memory for a long time.
The collection of crockery, art, and carvings and furniture is stunning.
A genuinely lovely family who made us feel very much at home.
And, 5 minutes walk to a fantastic night market ! Leaving.
- Yoav (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed this wonderful hospitality
- Michael (10/5): An experience to really treasure - Everything…the privilege to stay in such a beautiful teak jungle dating back to more than 700yrs old furniture
A lot of well preserved teak trunks as their foundations.
Awesome food too Nothing, I extended my stay here
- Michael (10/5): A Unique and Lovely Experience - Uniqueness….its like staying in a museum of golden teak. The owner has amassed and built the whole place with his passion and hobby.
Very comfortable, clean, spacious, location and Theo’s wife is such an excellent cook. Cannot get enough of their breakfast which is a yummy surprise every morning….authentic northern Thai food.
Extremely friendly and helpful.
Decided to extend our stay to 8 days. Nothing
- Pannathorn (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (6/5): Ok for a brief stay - Very interesting antique laden property. Great location for the center of town Breakfast very small. My partner asked for an extra egg and she was told she would have to pay more ! Meanwhile host asked my partner to make a papaya salad ( she is an excellent chef) So not very professional.
Room not cleaned even though we extended our stay by an extra night
- C.a. (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (7/5): Good - Very clean. Good location. Good WiFi.
They put me in a twin room, not a double.
Breakfast was basic.
There was no atmosphere when I was there. Maybe it's better at other times of year.
- Kwok (10/5): Exceptional - It was a fantastic location for a long/short stay and I am highly recommend this family homestay if you are looking forward to a suitable relax place to enjoy your vacation in Phrae.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - Loved it! Beautiful teak homestay. Loved the antiques and teak collection. Comfortable room, would like to have had a hairdryer. Friendly family, accommodating. Delicious breakfast, one of the best we have had in Thailand.
So glad we chose to stop in Phrae. Rented a bike. Night market 300m away.
P.S. Prison next store, quiet.
- Kevin (10/5): Characterful stay in amazing traditional building full of interesting wooden art. - Amazing house. Doubles up as a museum with loads of interesting wooden exhibits. Very relaxing stay. Very good Thai breakfast (continental available). Helpful family run. Lovely room (double room deluxe). Worth visiting town just to stay here. Shower has low pressure but suspect this is a general problem in the town.
- Seth (9/5): Beautiful property, friendly staff, pretty and comfy rooms. - Beautiful property with tons of amazing art and antiques to look through. Great plants, fountains, nice ambience. Awesome friendly staff, comfy and pretty rooms, good AC. Location right next to a prison is not very pretty, kind of an awkward ugly street its on. No real coffee for breakfast, just instant, but the food was nice.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (8/5): Good place to stay quite - Very interesting place , Not many taxis around but nice walk in area to relax
- Peerachatra (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (8/5): Very good - Good family run homestay, giving us the feeling we were welcome to be there.
All requests were taken seriously & dealt with. Rooms slightly dark. We had one with a balcony, which made all the difference.
- Keith (9/5): An atmospheric stay in a charming small town. - The house itself is a treat, full of varied objects, from objects connected to Thai culture to old TVs! Everything was very easy to arrange - we were able to borrow bikes to go around the town, they were happy to extend checkout so we didn't have to wait around in the bus station, the owner's son even drove us to our bus! Nothing
- Martin (8/5): Unusual surroundings. - Unusual experience surrounded by antiques. Room was small but ok all round
- Julia (9/5): Spotless, comfortable room in beautiful surroundings - We loved the balcony outside our room ( we weren’t sure if that was luck of the draw) . The owner was very friendly and the rooms are set in a beautiful museum. Beautiful wood carvings and flowers every where. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty.
Good location for walking around all the sights and the food area in the centre of town.
- Richard (10/5): Weird but charming homestay - OK, this is a home stay and not a hotel. The decorations is antique/junk shop in all the common eras, it the bedrooms have comfy beds and air con. Shower is pretty standard (poor) electric wall mounted in a wet room bathroom. Breakfast was simple but fine.
The place is weird and charming and worth the experience of a one night stay.
- Curtis (10/5): Exceptional - Great, friendly, and helpful staff. Beautiful antiques, excellent breakfast.
- Miguel (9/5): Superb -
- Chokchai (8/5): Nice antique homestay - Lots of antique. The owners are very kind. Room is fine. There was no chair inside the room. Limitted parking space.
- Grm120 (9/5): Superb - Staff and family were very pleasant
- Maureen (8/5): Beautiful environment , full of history - Limited breakfast , fresh fruit was nice Beds were very hard
- Grm120 (8/5): Very good - The family are very nice to chat with
- Alix (10/5): Fabulous - This place is unique, run by a lovely family. I wish I could have stayed longer.
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional - Superb
Very welcoming
Friendly
Helpful
- David (9/5): Very Pleasant Stay in a Traditional Thai Home - This is a home-stay in a large, traditional, wooden Thai house in the suburbs of Phrae. It was a fascinating building and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order (but only Thai food). Equally good food was also available later in the day. No complaints at all about the accommodation itself but it isn't a convenient location for the rest of Phrae unless you have a car! Needless to say the owners were very accommodating in finding us a taxi for a day trip to the surrounding area.
- Hubert (8/5): Agreable, relaxing, interesting - The owner was very nice with us and it was a pleasure he shared his story of the house. he was a good advisor for what we should visit. The place was close to any monument to visit in the old town (rent a bicycle is worth it) Mosquitos. needs to make some preventive actions on that around the room.
- Bahari (9/5): Superb - Close to the daily food market. Delicious Thai breakfast included. Surrounded by antiquity. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Comfy bed. Lovely family. The mini fridge in our room needed a good clean.
Not enough bicycles. Only two bicycles we're in operation and there are 3-4 rooms we think. This was a pity as the old town is best seen by bicycle as everything is in close proximity.
Not really a parking area.
This didn't bother us because we booked for two nights but if you stay longer you will need to ask for room clean.
The loud speaker announcements from the prison also did not bother us as we awoke early each morning but if you are wanting to lie in it will disturb you.
- Jan (8/5): Authentic and relaxed stay in Phrae - Family owned and run
- Sai (7/5): Good for those who love rustic environment. Full of antique n olds stuff. A different perspective of a homestay/ hot - The family is very cheerful and helpful. The house is piled with antiques. You need to like a house filled with all sort of stuff to enjoy It located next to a prison. But according to owner, there is plan to relocate the prison in the future. Nonetheless it is very safe and unlikely a Michael Scofield drama.
- Kanokwan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Perfect location for exploring Phrae. - Tranquil, unique setup with huge wood carvings, antique furniture and decor. Comfortable, quiet room. Free use of comfortable old school Japanese bicycles with baskets, ideal for exploring lovely Phrae. Exceptionally kind and welcoming hosts. Delicious Thai breakfast included (western food available too).
- Geoff (8/5): A great place to stay in Phrae and unlike anywhere else you will ever stay! - A very eccentric and completely unique place full of antiques and furniture. In a great location in Phrae, 5 minutes walk from the night market. Run by very friendly people who kindly collected me from Den Chai railway station at the last minute when I couldn’t find any transport! Thank you. Slightly noisy at night at first but everything settled down later in the evening.
- Dolphin (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful gardens and Thai bonsai, great breakfast
- Lee (9/5): Superb - Very helpful staff/family who runs the homestay
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Simona (9/5): Sleep in a museum - the house was very beautiful with lots of antique furnishings, the owner is very kind, the room with 3 beds is not very large but it's fine, the bathroom is comfortable. Breakfast quite good, dinner good but a little expensive. The location is good near the city centre.
Be careful in the rainy season in the blue and white fabric district everything was closed.
- Kathleen (10/5): Immersed in beauty - This is a unique homestay: everywhere you look there is something to delight the eye, from the beautiful to the quirky to the historical. The owner gave me a private tour of the property's little museum. The location is fantastic - very close to a 7/11 and the night markets, with street food stalls. There's a very pretty little park just opposite. Also nearby are several lovely wats and scores of gorgeous wooden houses. It's an easy 1+km walk from the bus station.
The staff (a family) are great. During my stay, the town actually flooded and the bus station was under water so I had to stay an extra night. The family did everything they could to ensure my stay was as comfortable and safe as possible under the circumstances. They even drove me to the out-of-town bus station when the waters had receded.
Breakfast was great, including real green tea from tea leaves.
- Puiman (10/5): Excellent place with great hospitality. - It is homestay with antique decorations which are invaluable and excellent hospitality from home owner. Breakfast is homemade and it was very delicious.
Room is spacious and very quite place to relax body and mind. Nothing
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yoko (10/5): Fantastic - Very clean. Good people, good location. Non
- Miao (9/5): Comfortable, quiet stay with gracious hosts, Thep, Dao & Oak. Thank you! - Friendly and helpful hosts, beautiful home, clean amenities, quiet and comfortable. Good home cooked breakfast too. N/A
- Monica (10/5): Gorgeous homestay with a very kind staff. - What a lovely place to stay. The place is literally a museum, with gorgeous wood carvings and fountains and plants. The staff were very kind, and took good care of me even though I was the only person staying there in the low season (!). The home-cooked Thai breakfast was especially delicious. The homestay is also located within easy walking distance of the bus station and all the sights of the Old Town. I highly recommend staying here.
- Patrick (9/5): Fabulous teak museum with comfortable rooms - A teak treasure house with comfortable beds, handsome rooms and charming owners. Amazing teak collection including massive furniture made from trees 1,000 to 400 years old, and a museum to boot. Decent breakfast (instant coffee) included in a bargain price. Lovely canal across the street and a short walk to downtown weekend night market. I kinda liked that it was next door to a prison. I wanted to take a tour but didn’t have time.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Olga (10/5): Excellent. - Nice beautiful house with garden. Helpful owner. Nothing. Everything was good.
- Ponnaree (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Lovely room in an amazing museum. Super friendly owners and a substantial breakfast included.
- Lyn (10/5): Best place to stay in Phrae - This is a beautiful place to stay. The owners are welcoming and so kind and thoughtful. I was there in March and it was very hot but Baan Thep is like an oasis of cool greenery.
It's very central so easy to walk around the old town and the owners organised a taxi to take me to the big temple out of town - there are very few taxis in Phrae.
- 510152025 (10/5): Exceptional - Great location
Really friendly hosts
Beautiful setting
Perfectly clean and comfortable
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Lovely house and surroundings with lots of plants and carvings. Large, well equipped room. Very quiet and characterful guesthouse. Helpful staff. It's a moderate walk to any food options at night.
- Love (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you for upgrading our room. We like everything here. Highly recommended stays. Nothing
- June (10/5): Exceptional - This is a compound run by a lovely couple and their adult son. Breakfast was served (delicious) and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. It was private, relaxing and a few minutes walk to the Night Market. We enjoyed Phrae as a great 3 days respite from Bangkok on our way to Chiang Rai. I highly recommend Baan Thep Antique Homestay. Nothing. Everything was great. The hosts were very attentive and easy to communicate with. Their son speaks some English and we had no problems communicating with the entire family.
- K. (5/5): Passable - Location, Incredible, museum-like courtyard, comfortable bed, welcoming staff Small, stuffy room with no airflow, no natural light; no wardrobe or shelves, only coatstand; rock-hard pillows
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Khemmii (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Leopold (10/5): Very nice and close to the old town of Phrae. - Our host was very friendly and showed us around in the house which in fact is a tiny very nice museum. On our last day we had to leave at 7 am and got an early breakfast.
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place to stay. I spent an hour looking round before I went to our room. Hosts were lovely if anything too attentive. Food was excellent and we enjoyed a BBQ one night.
It was very peaceful, and the place felt like home for a couple of days. Would recommend. All good.
- Punyawi (10/5): Feeling like stay at home, I love this place . - This place is very very good, This is my first time stay with this place and very impressive .All facilities are are very good, All antiques of the house is very very impressive, I never see any house have a lot of antique like this before. Some of the furniture made from the tree which is age more than 400-1000 years. The owner of this place are very friendly , very good advice. Food made by the owner are very very delicious .My families and me feel like stay at home. This place is my highly recommend to stay.
- Larissa (9/5): One of the nicest places in Phrae… great location and fabulous service - Everything. It was like staying with old family friends, and having excellent food prepared for you in-house was a nice bonus. Also, the owner’s collection of teak and vintage Thai artifacts is incredible. The property is family owned, and everyone in the family was super nice, friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend, and we will probably return soon.
- Samantha (10/5): Beautiful property, super nice owners! -
