Guest Reviews
- michael (9/5): Stsy and est here - Restaurant ambiance French Style..
Rooms small, bed big and comfortable
Owner and ALL staff smiling, friendly and efficient.
Meals well presented and a good menu Top floor, narrow stairs on 2 spirals
- Susan (8/5): - The meals were very different from the norm delivered with panache. Quiet room large bedroom and bathroom. Very expensive for a3 night stay without breakfast for 1 person. Steep staircase to bedrooms. Location is right at the top of town after climbing 3 very steep cobbled hills. Confined to bedroom unless eating in the Bistro.
- Margaret (10/5): An unexpected gem. - First impressions are so important. From the moment we stepped through the door we felt welcomed. Our need for an early meal because we were going to a theatre was no problem. The room was comfortable, clean and had a lovely en-suite. There was a good supply of teas for a refreshing cuppa. The staff were friendly, efficient and kind. Everything was great.
- Phillips (10/5): Very enjoyable - Breakfast was good also a good choice We feel the bathroom room could be less see through.
- Lorraine (8/5): Good stay would book again - Location homely feel, staff lovely Room was good , but decor needed upgrading, few cracks in wall and sink in bathroom was cracked,
- Deborah (8/5): Lovely stay and excellent food in the bistro - Lovely big bed ,excellent shower, spotlessly clean and nice soft towels. Stairs were very steep , nowhere to put used teabags , I understand these are just little niggles.
- GEORGINA (9/5): Wonderful:) We will be back! - Lovely comfy bed!
Central location in a lovely area of Frome
Friendly and helpful staff NA
- Gagun (8/5): Great location, great food, comfy room - Definitely dine at the bistro! Fabulous food - both for dinner and breakfast. Great location just a few minutes walk from town. Staff were attentive and efficient. The room smelt a little of damp when we arrived but it’s an old building!
- Lorna (10/5): - We had the most wonderful stay here and loved everything about it: check-in was friendly and straightforward, the room was beautiful and quiet, the bed was ridiculously comfy. We ate at the bistro which was fantastic and also enjoyed some cocktails at the bar (friendly knowledgeable staff who created a delicious drink for me). The location is perfect for exploring Frome and the free parking is a great bonus. Highly recommend. n/a
- Maria M (10/5): -
- Gail (9/5): Great location - Location and parking Windows did not open fully, no view
- Donella (9/5): Lovely accomm in perfect location - Perfect location. Lovely accommodation Parking not great as no guarantee of space in allocated area. However we were lucky to find free parking on road
- Davis (9/5): - Comfortable room, very good shower, nice range of toiletries..
We really liked the bistro restaurant food. Very helpful staff who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our meals and had a happy staff. It would have been nice to have decaf coffee in the room.
- Thomas (6/5): - Great location as we were visiting longleat for the day. Staff were very accommodating and polite. Had a few issues with the cleanliness of the room…. A lot of dust, and mould on the windows. Was next to a very busy road, so was loud through out the night. Would benefit with triple glazing windows. Also the heating system was on a timer so was cold during the night. Room would benefit with a fridge and microwave.
- john (9/5): - Very comfy beds great location quite at night .good food very nice shower Need bigger glasses in room and bathroom needed a little bit of tlc
Breafast could be included in price
- Ian (10/5): Great location to visit Frome and surrounding areas - Great location with nice clean room
- David (4/5): Second opinions - The food at the associated restaurant was good. Service was fair. Seating was poor - seated in the back corner with several interruption from kitchen staff. Upon arrival, there was confusion as to what building and room we were to be assigned. Struggled up stairs with heavy bags only to be told, "Sorry, my mistake, this is not your room." Hiked to a different building, climbing 3 flights of narrow stairs to a small room. My impressions were: bed, though comfortable, was small; view from ur room was the lovely side of another building; sparce toiletries in the bathroom; challenging to negotiate access to the closet with a small bedstand blocking the door; suggest replacing radio/clock; recommend placing a collapsible luggage stand in the rooms, would be wonderful aid for guests accessing their items in a suitcase.
Should advise potential guest that many of the rooms are only accessible on the 2nd and 3rd floors requiring a "healthy climb" up several flights of narrow stairs.
Parking was limited to a location a block away from accommodations.
This establishment was recommended by my daughter who residesin England; I need to review her impressions of this place with her more closely.
- Erin (8/5): - The location was good and the staff lovely. It was clean, but quite tired.
There were guest who arrived very late after midnight who were extremely loud and had dogs with them. Not only dod the guests chatter very loudly but one of the dogs howled and the other barked. This is not the fault of the accomadation but I'm not sure that I would book accomadation again that was pet friendly.
- David (8/5): -
- Hannah (6/5): - Lovely decor, great location, bright rooms, very clean Loud high pitched pipe noise all night so we didn't sleep. Very bright light at night - needs blackout curtains. Rooms small.
- Annie (9/5): A lovely place to stay and eat close to the attractions of Catherine Hill - Charming helpful staff, lovely breakfast and great evening meal. The bedroom was pleasantly fresh and simple, a small bathroom with a great shower. Could have done with a bit more spacefor toiletries, cosmetics etc but appreciate it is only a small bathroom so difficult to fit it in. Similarly if we had been staying longer we might have liked more storage for clothing.
- didier (9/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Nice stay with lovely restaurant and bar. - Lovely location. Close to all amenities and shops. Staff very welcoming. Room quite small and bed too soft for us but that is always a personal choice.
- Rebecca (8/5): A great place for a long weekend in Frome. The family room was spacious and we loved eating at the restaurant! - The tasteful decor and the proximity to the bistro and cocktail bar The room looked a bit tired in places - chipped paintwork and dirty windows
- Katie (8/5): Lovely French place with fantastic food. - The food for our evening meal was excellent! My two teenagers had steak, I had moules marinières and my husband had pork. Desserts were also fab!
We decided to have breakfast the next day and again it was fabulous and I love the way the breakfast was also presented. I loved the food at this place plus our bedroom was just upstairs so after our lovely evening meal we ambled back up to our room. Loved the chic French vibes. Our room was clean, it had comfy beds, shower products and a kettle. We had a family room which was fine for one night stay but one bathroom is tricky with two teenagers.
I didn’t like having to walk up two flights of stairs with my luggage but that’s it really. We were quite near the road, so I could hear the traffic in the early hours. Might be worth investing in double glazing at some point but the place was lovely.
- Celine (7/5): Lovely mini break in cute town, location afforded easy drive to Bath & Bristol -would recommend - Central location in Frome
Comfy beds with squishy pillows
30 mins easy drive to Bath No WiFi
Loud road noise
Tired decor, needs a refresh/paint
Dirty windows
No mini fridge
- Kiran (10/5): Beautiful, clean, close to everything but not too central - Close to the centre, lots of amenities nearby, also had parking available for free. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The room itself was so nice and spacious, well decorated. I actually have OCD and this was the first time that I felt fully comfortable in a hotel/bnb. The bed and bathroom were so clean, the en-suite is also so beautiful and looks recently renovated. Really enjoyed my time here. The large bed we had (?king) had a little dip in the middle. Not major, the bed was still very comfy.
- Philomena (7/5): Excellent apart from the stairs to our room. - For us the location in relationship to where we wanted to be was excellent. Staff very friendly, room very comfortable. En suite excellent. We had a drink in the bar and dined in the Bistro next door which was excellent. Nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Not knowing Frome we found locating the premises by car confusing. We were taken to our room accommodation two doors down the road. Accessing the room required a steep flight of stairs which are not ideal for an older couple.
- Patricia (9/5): Perfect couple of nights stay. - Second visit to the Bistro Lotte. Breakfast was great. Location perfect. Bed comfy. Staff attentive and charming. A last moment unfortunate and unavoidable issue with the water heating didn't even spoil our enjoyment of this lovely gem of a boutique hotel. Will hope to visit again soon.
- Maria (8/5): Lovely weekend in a fabulous town - Great location very close to the town. The room was clean, very comfortable bed with a very nice on suite. The TV reception was poor and some drawer space would have been helpful there would definitely have been room
- Laura (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Very good, excellent location to town and very clean - Reason for negative comment on wifi was because I could not get either my laptop or my mobile to connect.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Toby (8/5): -
- Jacquie (10/5): -
- Claire (7/5): Good but could be better with a few tweaks - Bathroom room was modern with a good shower. Room was large. People were welcoming on arrival at the bistro Couldn’t see out of the windows because of the condensation on them. No housekeeping despite us being there 3 nights. Kettle was full of limescale and tea was kept in a box with coffee so tasted awful. Staff were nice but once we had checked in at the bistro we never saw them.
- Timothy (10/5): -
- Dennis (9/5): It was ok but would not stay again. - Very clean. Bed very comfortable. The room was far too hot and a fan would have helped more than you know.
- Christopher (10/5): Brilliant - Everything Nothing
- Julie (8/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- KARENINA (1/5): The owner is racist. DO NOT STAY THERE. - Location was ok. Rooms were sufficient . Bathroom clean but rotting wood at corners. Breakfast was pathetic - cold boiled egg and one slice of cold unimpressive most likely supermarket ham. Ironing board broken. Iron held together by masking tape. Owner refused us coffee service and made it obvious she did not want us there and only wanted our money. Extremely bad bad hospitality service. Go jump in a lake Lottie - stop pretending you are French. Awful awful woman. Only ever been treated like this by racists.
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Isabel (3/5): Not very enjoyable. Room felt oppressive, couldn't have window ope due to access from roof into room - Breakfast was not included. The location was good, central No smiles, no warm welcome from the owner. Unhelpful. Bordering on rude. The serving staff was lovely, and very friendly/helpful
- wendy (8/5): - Great position comfortable and well appointed
- victoria (8/5): Cosy room in great location - Excellent location
Lovely room with nice decor and comfy bed
Bistro downstairs was very nice The smell in the room was not nice. The room overlooked a roof with an extractor fan. This meant the smell of food comes in to the room even with the window closed. I would happily stay again but ask for a different room
- Tiffany (10/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): -
- Charles (8/5): Chic and convenient for a weekend break - Clean and comfy, great location for shops and restaurants/bars but not noisy. Bistro (on ground floor, used for breakfast) was a bit under-heated. Two quite steep flights of stairs to the room - might not suit more elderly guests or those with a lot of luggage.
- Dave (5/5): Comfortable but very overpriced and very limited breakfast menu which was not included in the price - Lovely warm comfy bed and room Mould and damp with a cracked ceiling in the bathroom also room was separate to the rest of the hotel
- SUE (10/5): Will definitely stay again! - Bistro Lotte is in the perfect place, with everything you need in walking distance. We stayed when visiting the theatre which was a 5 minute walk. There’s a lovely pub just across the road, and you can just walk down Catherine Street, which is so quant, to the town. Parking is a 2 minute walk and there’s a corner shop virtually next door. We had the family room which was gorgeous. The signal for the TV was hit and miss, then it lost connection completely, but I managed to fix it in the settings. That’s something that just happens though.
- Abbey (10/5): -
- Vivienne (10/5): - Everything was very nice, have stayed at Lotte several times over the years, very comfortable and clean. No where to hang over coats apart from wardrobe.no bin by tea making facilities.
- Smyth (9/5): -
- brenna (9/5): Lovely staff, good location, room size was good for our family of 4. The noise from the street woke me up after pub clos - Location was really good, beds were very comfortable The bathroom needed updating as the damp was evident
- Richard (4/5): - Poor choice Room and restaurant were cold
- Suzanna (9/5): -
- Henderson (10/5): -
- Nathalie (7/5): -
- Karey (10/5): Beautiful place to stay in Frome - Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous room in a lovely spot in Frome, and the bistro downstairs was outstanding. Greeted by Lotte as we arrived, and all staff we met were lovely. Real attention to detail with choice of teas and coffees in the room. Nothing, it was perfect!
- Russell (7/5): - Very comfortable bed. Excellent sized room and en-suite. Very warm and welcoming. Couldn't make the wi-fi work (tried it all ways). Breakfast was a little disappointing. Best not plan on doing any building work after breakfast here!
- Oates (9/5): -
- Yoav (10/5): Lovely host, relaxing vibe, great restaurant downstairs - Very classy and homely Breakfast is very late at 9am
- Gregory (9/5): Excellent - Good location , lovely staff , great food
- Ros (10/5): -
- Irene (9/5): Comfy stay - Comfortable beds and central locatio. Bistro downstairs is excellent. Road noise but to be expected from location, fine with earplugs!
- Debby (7/5): Wonderful staff, beautiful clean with excellent food. Breakfast a bit limited but still very enjoyable - Bed was massive and extremely comfy and spotlessly clean. Evening meal food was exceptional We were on the top floor which was a challenge with new knees. Rooms not automatically serviced so tea, milk & water was not refreshed. Location is central but like most of Frome up the very steep St Catherine’s Hill.
- Debbie (7/5): - Smart and clean No lift - 3 floors and no parking
- David (7/5): Happy enough, restaurant was a bit cold. - Good location, parking was goid Thought/certain we had booked a larger room, but it was okay for 2 nights
- roberta (8/5): Great location, great restaurant, clean, comfortable rooms. - Great location, parking available (first come first served), fabulous linked restaurant and great separate bar, lovely breakfast. Relaxed atmosphere, simple rooms. Comfy bed and good shower. Bottles of water and fresh milk for rooms.
- Julie (8/5): We had a wonderful stay. - The accommodation was excellent, the food was to die for and the staff were very approachable, kind and polite. N/A
- Eva (9/5): -
- Guy (7/5): We had a lovely stay - Does what it promises and represents excellent value. Dinner menu excellent and the food a high standard. Nothing to mention
- evans (10/5): Fabulous Place to Stay! - The room was great for us as it is very hard to get a room for 3 people. It was really comfy and cosy. We loved the location, and also, having the bar below us was so convenient and a great place for drinks. We didn't hear nouse from the bar once we had gone to bed. The staff were really friendly. There is free parking, which they direct you to, just across the street. We loved it here. Comfy bed, too!
- LINDA (8/5): -
- Naomi (9/5): - Good location. Good size room andbathroom Nothing
- janet (4/5): Disappointing. Won't stay again. - The room was bigger than average and comfortable beds. We asked them to change the bedding and bring fresh towels, which they didn't. Instead they came in, didn't clean, but turned off all the heat and it was freezing when we got back to our dirty room.
The ladies who checked us in seemed frazzled and annoyed when we asked for anything.
- AliJ (8/5): -
- Emily (8/5): -
- emma (9/5): Lovely atmospheric Bistro , accommodation central and very welcoming staff - Lovely atmosphere as we arrived at Lotte bistro. Room was clean and bed really comfy . . Decided against breakfast but had a wonderful evening meal and staff that served us were really friendly. Definately recommend dining there Tea and milk provided but no coffee . No other negative points .
- ANGELA (10/5): Staff were lovely and the food was amazing. - Very clean and comfortable.
- Keith (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Fabulous - The entire ambiance, the food.
- Sabina (9/5): -
- Justin (10/5): -
- vickie (10/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): Fabulous meal would def come again for the food. - Good location. We were lucky to get a parking space I think. Would worry about not getting a parking space.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Perfect for a 2 night getaway. - Gorgeous little BnB right in heart of Frome. Beautifully styled rooms with lovely toiletries. Minor detail but would have expected free breakfast.
- John (7/5): - Excellent location for old part of town and restaurants. On a main road so could be a bit noisy. Didn't realise our accomation was above the bar, so people were outside talking below our window. Live music on Wednesday night and can be heard in the rooms until around 11pm. Access is via a steep narrow staircase so you need to be reasonably mobile. Limited parking, subject to availability, not reservable.
- Gibson (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Great location for visiting Frome - Good location with car park nearby, short walk downhill to Frome town centre
- Derek (9/5): -
- Leesa (9/5): Good family overnight stay. Comfy beds and very charming. Dinner was great! - Yummy breakfast
- Samantha (9/5): Lovely stay in Frome - Clean and well located with a lovely bar and restaurant No downsides
- Lucy (10/5): Absolutely perfect we loved it - It was a lovely room very well presented and close to all the amenities they have a wonderful restaurant just down from the rooms and a separate bar which again is beautifully presented.
The staff are lovely and very helpful we would definitely stay there again Maybe being on the top floor the stairs you don’t want to go up and down too much 🤣
- Damien (10/5): Very comfortable, great staff , close everything - High quality well maintained building, quality furnishings & en-suite facilities. . Unlike many a variety of complementary teas ( coffee bags)
Close supermarket for anything extra required. Food available downstairs in the Bistro. Also a few doors along in the Bistro bar where enjoyed a lovely meal & atmosphere, live band. Short stroll into Frome via independent shops.
- Glenn (9/5): A very pleasant surprise after a long journey. - The breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable and the bed very roomy and comfortable. even though it was above a bar it was quiet.
