Guest Reviews
- Laurie (9/5): - Peace and quiet, setting was fantastic overlooking the river. Carport and sealed entrance avoided dragging mud inside, especially by the dog. Not much. Hot water pressure in the shower.
- Andrew (9/5): Great stay - Location location location A few house mice came for food left in bags, traps were provided by owner (and we got a few mice)
- Melva (10/5): -
- sandypres (9/5): Escape to nature and peace. - Tranquil location where you are immersed in nature. Accommodation was comfortable and cozy, especially with a wood heater. Close to Mount Franklin for spectacular walks amongst the Tingle trees.
- Cazcole (10/5): Walpole country stay on the Franklin River - Nice place to stay. Aircon for heat and fire.
Lovely owners
Its not fancy but comfy. Full kitchen. Big bathroom. A bit far out of Walpole from main town 15kms . Windy road into their property . Watch for kangaroos on the main road to the property. We nearly hit one
- Parkes (10/5): Fantastic, tranquil getaway. - The tranquility was amazing, having no phone or internet was so peaceful. Lucy and Ben were so welcoming, I'll be back.
- Raymond (8/5): Very happy with our stay but not having wifi and comfortable lounges is a bit disappointing. - The property is fantastic in a quite location with great scenery. The only negative with the accommodation is the lounges are real back breakers and the tv’s are tiny.
- Estelle (10/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Proximity to town but also close to river and the openness of property, the neighbours were a good distance Loved it all
- Samanta (8/5): -
- Phoebe (10/5): -
- Trevor (10/5): Magic - Location, no phone, serenity, sounds of the bush. Prue, pretty helpful friendly and her amazingly friendly cattle and chooks. Also privileged to meet Kevin and have a wongi. That we had to leave
- Tiggersuki (10/5): Glorious rural location by the river - We love this place. Location is perfect and so tranquil. Lots of birds about. Canoes for the river an added bonus.
Close to The Hilltop drive and Valley of the Giants, and Peaceful Bay for a sea swim.
And do go on a WOW trip from Walpole with the brilliant Gary Muir Nothing to dislike
- Carola (8/5): Forest retreat - We loved the quiet forest setting and being almost off-grid, and that we could take our dog. The cabins are widely spaced, and well equipped with excellent woodburning stove. Beautiful walking trails. Friendly, kind hosts. That we didn't stay long enough to canoe on the river, play tennis, and walk more around the property.
- Hannah (8/5): Great spot to get away from the world, but be aware it is isolated - Great location! Felt isolated in a good way from the other cabins. Also the cows were great! No internet or phone connection. The way down was gravelly and long.
- Graeme (7/5): Enjoyable - Good location on the river. Satellite TV didn't work.
- Stuart (9/5): just incredibly great - location and peace, no noise clean and friendly service no internet for emergency contacts
- Louise (9/5): Peaceful and relaxing getaway - Very nice farm on the river. Nice and quiet. Very relaxing
- Kevin (8/5): -

- JONI (9/5): Peaceful and relaxing week away with the family (2 adults, 2 kids). - Excellent value for money. Host Pru (and family) was so friendly and helpful. She gave us heaps of tips and info about the local area and the property. Chalets are not new, but were spotless and had everything we needed. Having a washing machine was a real bonus. Beds were super comfortable. There is lots to enjoy on the property itself; walks/swims/canoes/tennis court/DVD library etc. Views from the verander are picturesque and the birds and wildlife are magic. Chalets are spaced well apart which gives you great privacy without being fenced or closed in. The property was further away from the nearest town than we realised, but we loved the peace and quiet. If your looking for a great value stay, where you can unplug and unwind, this is it. Where to go to check in could be clearer. The sign was easy to miss and there isn't really a reception office (you go to the host's or caretaker's home). But once Pru spotted us and directed us it was fine. There is no phone reception and only WiFi if you go up to the main house. On the whole I enjoyed being off the radar, but it did make looking up info to plan outings harder. Just make sure you download your maps, music, books etc before you get there. The internal walls of the chalets are PAPER thin. Not an issue if your on your own, but might put a bit of a dampener on " romantic" time if you're staying with kids/ friends/ family
- Rebekah (9/5): Cozy stay - Really cozy cottages that are well maintained and very comfortable. Great amenities and lots of activities to do. Huge selection of games and DVD's available and the owners were lovely and really helpful. Very limited phone reception in the area and no Wi-Fi available at the cottages.
- GARY (8/5): We had a great time getting off the beaten track and heading into the forests of south-west WA. - We've been to Che Sara Sara before and knew what to expect. It didn't let us down. Tranquil and the perfect opportunity to escape the rat race and re-charge the batteries. It would be so much better if somehow we could get wi-fi in the chalets.
- Vanitha (10/5): Lovely tranquil stay in nature - My family of four had a great time here. The accommodation is basic but adequate. The best part was the location! Four chalets with a big space in between with lots of trees, including a swing which my kids enjoyed. The canoes were a nice bonus, the river was quiet and calm. We didn’t have any reception, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!
- Ben Pitcher (9/5): - Fantastic location with clean and comfortable accommodation that is well maintained
- barry (4/5): Nice break away but not a place to take pets - Location was nice but worried about bush fires Cow pads everywhere
Showers very little water
Stove not working
- Tania (10/5): -
- rick (9/5): Delightful spot from which to discover the Walpole region, its wonderful coastline and wilderness. - Th great thing (and there are many) for us about this location was its isolation and peacefulness. The wilderness/forest combined with the privacy and space around the chalet make it feel very private and serene.
It was quite cool (14-17C) during our stay, however the wood burning stove helped us keep warm and comfortable...a real bonus. The chalet was spacious and well equipped (inc. BBQ), and well maintained given the age of the property.
Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful to address our requirements. Thanks to Prue for her offer of free avocados and the delicious quince jelly. This is not a complaint, but an observation. The river runs just adjacent to the property line and close to the chalets, however is masked by the trees (well, this is SWA after all!). But there is a beautiful spot of exposed granite rock less than 100 meters from the entrance gate, affording a beautiful panorama of the rushing stream, forest and wonderful flora. Thanks Prue, for the steer.
On arrival, down a long dirt track, we were unsure of our location, and arrived at the chalet...having completely missed "the office", which could have been more prominently signposted. No harm done, apart from a sheepish drive back to find it!
- Genevieve (10/5): -
- Garry (10/5): Our second home! - Imo the beauty and serenity of the location is unmatched. We loved playing tennis, bushwalking through the property, canoeing along the lovely Frankland River practically at our doorstep, also having an outdoor wood fire and BBQ. Very comfy beds and well equipped kitchen plus an indoor wood fire to keep us warm at night. Also Prue the manager is a fabulous and very generous host!
Fyi as a family of 4 living in Albany we were 2-3 times a year regulars at the Chalets for 17 years up until 5 years ago when our son and then later our daughter moved to Perth to study, so this was our first reunion visit to what we all call our 'second home"!!! Nothing
- Tammaryn (10/5): - The location was so relaxing and quiet N/A
- Karyn (8/5): We really enjoyed the tranquilty of where we stayed. It was also very comfortable and we - Peaceful, beautiful location.
- Barbara (7/5): - The scenery was fantastic. There is a massive ant problem. There was not enough lights and the firewood was damp and would not light
- Kat (10/5): Picturesque location full of wildlife and serenity . Was perfect for my Mum’s 60th birthday . Close by to multiple touri - Picturesque location full of wildlife and serenity . Was perfect for my Mum’s 60th birthday . Close by to multiple tourist attractions as well. 10/10 Everything was perfect nothing not to like.
- Leonie (9/5): A rustic, cosy and tranquil stay surrounded by nature. - We loved the simplicity of the holiday being in a beautiful natural environment - with cows looking in the window and the sounds of the river flowing.
Our hosts were warm and generous, offering herbs from their flourishing garden and encouraging our daughter to collect eggs. Having a wood fore stove was a bonus. We plan to go back! Nothing to dislike.
- Dale (9/5): Awesome, excellent hosts, - Very cosy and peaceful, loved it Nothing we didn’t not like
- Rochelle (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): - Serenity and nature Connectivity is difficult
- An (8/5): -
- Elza (9/5): -
- Angela (10/5): A real country stay, and so private - Being able to stay with our dog was fabulous, and she had the ability to go for beautiful walks and big runs. The location was wonderful, in the country but close to everything we wanted to do. Prue and her daughter were delightful, helpful and very relaxed. We used the kennel provided for our dog to stay whilst we went to the national park, great amenity for travellers with dogs. But it really needed a good clean out. But a great idea!!
- Janine (6/5): - Loved the wood fire, beds were comfortable, cabin was spacious and well equipped, it was nice waking up surrounded by trees and hearing the birds and the river flowing over the rapids There were a lot of cobwebs in the rafters and you could not lock the doors, no keys provided.
- Boyd (8/5): -
- Derani (9/5): Great peaceful stay - Quiet, far away from other cottages, lots of forest walks to do on property
- matt dunscombe (10/5): perfect getaway - everything nothing
- Loretta (10/5): -
- Kellyg (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing and a great place to switch off from - Beautiful location. Loved having the cows and other animals at the property.
- Sprigg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (10/5): Serenityville! - The serenity, the coziness, the quietness of the accomodation. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you have amazing stag. The cabins are unique, pristine and very cosy. The fire place is gorgeous and wood is provided. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay. Highly recommended! If I could change one thing I’d say more comfortable lounges but we loved everything.
- Raymond (9/5): Superb -
- Wakefield (9/5): Superb -
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Peaceful Found beds a bit hard
- Terry (8/5): Nice basic accomodation - Nice location on the river. They are holiday chalets so not insulated, a bit cold, but log fire to warm up.
- Christine (10/5): It was exactly as advertised - Quiet private and peaceful.
- Lucinda (9/5): Superb -
- Kornelius (10/5): Peace and quiet in beautiful nature. - Peace and quiet in the most beautiful nature!
Kayaking on the beautiful Frankland river.
A real fireplace (with airconditioning for those that prefer that).
Feeding the chooks with our grandchild.
Watching cattle from the accommodation.
Bird watching.
Walking/running through the beautiful forests.
Enjoying God's creation away from the hustle and bustle in the city.
Thank you!
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Susanne (8/5): Quiet and relaxing stay, no connection makes it double relaxing - Beautiful property, quiet and in a wonderful location in the bend of the river. The chalet was well equiped with everything you need on a holiday I suggest to put some more furniture on the back deck
- Melanie (8/5): Very good -
- Carolyn (9/5): A lovely stay in a quiet location - The chalets were so cosy and peaceful. They had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The kids loved going in the canoes on the river. The location is great for trips out into different parts of the Walpole wilderness, including Mt Frankland, Valley of the Giants, Circular Pool, and the Giant Tingle Tree. There's nothing we didn't like. Make sure you bring everything you need for cooking, like oil, paper towel, alfoil, etc. It's not provided.
- Sara (8/5): Loved it! - The property is beautiful! Great facilities, clean & staff were great.
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cherie (8/5): Peaceful! -
- Judith (9/5): A very special place with amazing location for a nature experience. - So comfortable and amazing grounds and surroundings if you came for a nature experience as we did. Really special.
- Janelle (8/5): Peaceful, fresh and isolated farmland - Beautiful location, quiet. Chalet was spacious and had everything we needed. Chalet could not be left locked. Which coming from the city we found odd. We were offered keys, though. But decided to just take our valuables when out.
- Dan (5/5): Great location and setting but chalet was overall a bit dated and needs some work - Location and setting was fantastic Chalets are looking a bit tired and in need of a bit of TLC and modernising
Cows have had run of the place and unfortunatelly the area around our chalet was a minefield of cow dung!
- Kim (9/5): It was short and sweet. Would have loved to stay longer and make use of the canoes. - It was a beautiful spot with river glimpses from our lounge windows. The walk down to one part of the river was very picturesque. Earlier rains provided a swimming hole for those who desired a swim with flowing water over the smooth rocks. Canoes available around another bend of the river.
Friendly calves and a mamma wondering around gave it a real country feel.
Our stay was end of March 2025. The accommodation itself is fine for mild mobility impaired people. A few steps to gain entry. Not suitable for exploring the grounds and river.
- Tiggersuki (10/5): Perfect spot by the river - We have stayed here several times before and love this place by the Frankland river. A very comfortable chalet, well equipped.
Very peaceful and a beautiful location in the trees. Watch fairy wrens and ringneck by the chalets. Kayak along the river, my husband did this every day. Very little not to like. No WiFi at the chalet but that would be a bonus for many people
- Murray (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aine (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - The peace and quiet and kayaking on the river
- Jackie (10/5): Excellent, would love to be back during winter/cold season to enjoy the campfire. - The location was good. It's 10-15mins to main Walpole Town. It's just on the banks of Frankland River and kayaks/canoe are free to use. One of the few places down Walpole that allows pets in the cabins. It is really off-grid being in the middle of the forest. They only have signal from the main house at top of the hill, but the rest of the cabins are all off-grid.
- Gary (9/5): Lovely quiet stay by the river. - Location on the river was great. Beautiful peaceful bush spot.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graeme (10/5): ideal location and great place the relax for the local adventures - loved the layout and quiet, the scenery was superb. truly a hidden gem Walpole power outages
- Emily (9/5): Beautiful location lovely peaceful place, if travelling with dogs its extra and be careful of snakes - Excellent location a little tricky to find you pass two houses with minimal signage to get to the location also no service so you can't open emails to confirm cabin you have booked lucky I had screen shots but very peaceful.
Beautifull location peaceful, canoes for the river absolutely lovely just the extra $50/dog & snakes to take note when booking Was a little daunting one entry/exit over fire season and lots of fire fuel around the cabins might be my farm fire season cautions coming in.
Great dog location but the young man on arrival did say be careful for snakes so was a little on edge, great to see in the chalet vet contact numbers etc. Its an extra $50/dog in the chalet states a bond but we haven't been refunded to date?
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Peaceful chalet, abundant bird life. - Superb location in the forest next to the river. Visited by a family of blue wrens each morning. No phone reception or wifi in the chalet, but didn't miss these. 100% recommended. Nothing
- Porter (7/5): Our stay was fairly relaxed for the one night we stayed - Peacefull location, out of the way and away from busy area. Bed was a little uncomfortable and a little small, not too bad for one night.
- Jerome (10/5): Tranquil Getaway Amid Nature's Beauty - A very clean and tidy cottage nestled in the heart of a vast, beautifully maintained property. The lovely owner takes great care of the grounds and her diverse animals, from chickens to cows, adding a charming farm-like ambiance. The nearby river is absolutely stunning and ideal for swimming or stand-up paddleboarding.
The property’s isolated location ensures complete tranquility, making it the perfect spot to disconnect, relax, and recharge. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace and a chance to reconnect with nature.
- Juliana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurence (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (10/5): Fantastic experience in the nature. - If you leave a host with tears in your eyes it says everything. Erika and Ryan were fantastic! A place just in nature with birds, kangaroos, a river around where you can relax from the noise of the city. A wood oven in the chalet to make it cosy in the eve and let you dream about the day. We definitely come back one day. Thank you so much, dears, and keep healthy! Frank and Marietta Böttger Nothing. Just nothing.
- Daechoul (10/5): Exceptional - Good for relax. The host was very kind and helpful.
- Carolyn (7/5): Good - Located near the river with dark skies and numerous stars at night was lovely. Our dog enjoyed the numerous new smells
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days based here. It is on our "return to" list. - A beautiful, tranquil bush setting. The cabin was cosy and comfortable and well set up to self-cater. A great base to explore the many walks and parks in the area.
- Ross (9/5): Great cabin - The fireplace, kitchen, bathroom and verandah were great.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional - Another great week escaping the hustle and bustle with a young family. The kids simply adore the space and nature.
- Cecilia (10/5): Wow! What a location. I loved everything about Che Sara Sara. Thank you. - The location was beautiful. I had a spectacular view of the river, from the lounge room. The sounds of the birds and the river made it very relaxing for me. Nothing
- Payton (8/5): Very good - Enjoyed how peaceful it was, the location is incredible. Note that no reception at the property, and the sign to find the office was a little hard to find
- Blake (9/5): Superb -
- Willem (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cynthia (8/5): Other than the caws it was great!! - There was a short in main bedroom bedside lights ,witch I did report on the day I left! The cows rubbing themselves agents the aircon outside that chook the whole cabin,!! Scary !!
- Nicky (8/5): Peaceful. - The seclusion was lovely. All the chalets were spread out from each other and very private. It was quiet and dark at night. The owners were lovely too. It was really easy to get to all the local hikes from there which is why we had chosen it. Fireplace a fantastic treat. Washing machine a bonus. Unfortunately, I couldnt sleep in the main bed and had to use the floor which is a shame because I loved the rest of the place. The partition between the bedrooms also might as well not been there - We could hear everything between the rooms even people turning over in bed!
- Jay (10/5): phenomenal - the location was amazing nothing to talk about.
- Allyson (8/5): Very good - Cabins are really good, nice rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and facilities. Wood fire, outdoor BBQ and verandah, there is a washing machine also which was unexpected. Nice walk down the river, rock hopping and the dog loved it. The cows are very cute however poo throughout the field so have to watch walking. The owner put them in top paddock so not a problem though, but the cabins are behind the main homestead, so this is expected. Commute to town is around 10-15 minutes, nice drive and town is small so take your own food with you as very limited places to eat in Walpole.
