Guest Reviews
- Judith (6/5): Sadly, not a great stay - The room was clean and comfortable and I had a fantastic view of the Pub's llamas!! Unfortunately, my room was above a generator (or something that made a loud noise). I asked to be moved but the rooms were full. They did say the generator would go off when the kitchen closed. This did happen but then it kept coming on every 15 minutes or so, even in the night which disrupted my sleep. This was such a shame as the staff were nice, location great and food was good but it has put me off. Also, everywhere needed a lick of paint really.
- Dave (10/5): - All the staff were very helpful & friendly
- Judith (8/5): Excellent breakfast - Friendly staff
- Paul (9/5): - Good value for money excellent location llamas in the beer garden!bed was really comfortable Nothing
- Key (10/5): Fabulous pub - A lovely welcome, smallish room but very comfortable. Good food excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Really nice atmosphere and the food was lovely. Room was very comfy/cosy - Really nice atmosphere and the food was lovely. Room was very comfy/cosy
- Maxine (10/5): Just relaxing in a beautiful environment - It’s such a beautiful location and setting Nothing
- Joanne (8/5): A pleasant stay with good food and friendly staff. - The half board package was good value for money. The breakfast was excellent as were the staff. Tea and coffee in the room was plentiful. We stayed in ‘Dolly’ and found the bed uncomfortable. A lamp on the dressing table would be an improvement as it’s situated in the corner of the room which is fairly dark. It lacked a mirror in the bathroom.
- Michelle (8/5): Chilled in the garden on a sunny day after work - The views, the breakfast, the staff The noise of a generator although this is switched off when the pub closes so I slept well
I don’t like that they have to take all your card details including the security code, taken verbally. Not very secure.
- Peter (7/5): We were advised that it was dog friendly but it wasnt. However, the Duty Manager agreed to us stayin - Breakfast was excellent - especially on the first day.Freshly cooked to order. Dinner choice was also very good Noisy music- too loud during dining.
- Vanessa (8/5): - Staff were very attentive in the bar and restaurant. Food was good. Our white bedding had black marks on both sheet and duvet cover.
- Jose Antonio (8/5): - El trato recibido, la amabilidad del personal Que no había armario en la habitación
- Alan (8/5): Overall a lovely stay for our two night break thank you - Convenient location for us we enjoyed the scenery and the llamas The boiler shed was under our windows and was particularly noisy
Our included breakfast was good but you could only choose one of two options per person from the menu despite wanting the yogurt and toast ,and preserve which were both cheaper together than one cooked option
- John (5/5): - Needed some breakfast early and told that was fine. Went down at 7:15 as agreed and told the chef was not in so could not make me toast which is all I wanted. Stayed there previously and they had been very obliging. Does not work for me staying there again.
- Robert (8/5): - Good food, with plenty to offer on the menu Shower facilities were a bit cramped and the shower itself took a bit of working out. The room had some background noise from what appeared to be wall fitted hear pumps outsider
- Elson (8/5): - The hotel was really nice. And ideally great place to stay as we were going to a party up the road at the Weston hotel. The breakfast was very good value for money. Were we sat was a lovely view of fields beyond the hotel. Beautiful view of countryside. The staff were very nice and very helpful. The only complaint was the fire light in the room is very bright. But I know it's necessary to have in the room . But it's very bright when your sleeping.
- Swift (10/5): Great value for money. Food amazing - The food was amazing. We had breakfast included and you could tell it was all fresh and the meat was not cheap. They have animals in the field out back. The room was cozy. Wasn’t the biggest but it’s what you get for your money. There is a separate entrance to get to the rooms so you haven’t got to keep walking through the pub. You could hear a bit of noise from downstairs but it didn’t affect our stay one bit. I can’t get over how good the breakfast was!! Location is okay. If you want to go to Stafford it is a short drive but can’t walk it. But for a relaxing country holiday location is perfect. The staff were nice enough wasn’t the friendliest but weren’t rude. Waiters serving food were lovely though.

- Duncan (7/5): 2nd Visit to a Lovely Warm & Welcoming Pub/B & B! - Warm & Friendly welcome by Lovely Staff. This is our 2nd visit this month but disappointed by the room allocated (Cosy) - this room is very small and difficult to get around for my husband who is disabled but manages the stairs - He was unable to access the shower due to lack of space and the only clothes hanging hooks were above the kettle tray - so steam rose up into our clothes + I think this room is located above the kitchen as it was quite noisy all evening until around 11pm but we got a good nights sleep and enjoyed a Lovely Cooked Breakfast. Evening Meal was Excellent as last time. Slight mix up with the final bill (overcharged by £60) but quickly sorted out by a nice staff member and maybe next visit I will book directly with the B & B so I can know which rooms are available - Sure we will return soon ! Not sure what can be done with such a small double room other than warn customer in advance !
- Tina (5/5): -
- Liz (7/5): - Staff were friendly, breakfast was great Nothing
- Colin (8/5): A lovely pub providing comfortable rooms and a lovely restaurant - All of the staff we met were wonderful and helpful. The meal in the restaurant was very tasty. The room was comfortable. The noise of the kitchen extract fan could be heard in our room until midnight and then started again at 7am.
- Simon (8/5): -
- Jess (7/5): -
- Marie (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent customer service from Dave on reception.Dave also worked in the bar/restaurant,he delivered superb service at all times, always with a smile.Hotel was extremely clean. Food was fantastic both at evening meal and breakfast, would highly recommend. Lack of heating in bedroom.
- Aysen (7/5): The Saracens Head - The room was spacious, offered a complimentary one night stay, accomodated our late check in by offering us to pick up key from sister hotel, authorised a refund due to issues with why we could not get into the property so had to book a travelodge instead for 2 nights The lighting by the accomadation entrance was poor, was not told on the phone when I booked how to get into the property via side gate entrance, was not obvious where the guesthouse was located especially in the dark, in rain, so we could not get into the property, no one there, wasnt answering phone, pub was fully booked on sunday
- Paul (9/5): Wonderful 3rd stay over will defo be back - Room was quite hot but was welcomed when we returned after a night out Noise from the chimney even though window was closed and nowhere for Mrs to sit and do make up
- Simon (8/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - Loved the breakfast
- Davies (10/5): - The locstion Loved it all
- Hunt (10/5): Great experience overall. - The staff were polite and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. The food was excellent, and the room was clean and comfortable. I’d happily stay here again.
- Karl Preston (10/5): Top quality Hotel and Pub. - Staff were friendly and very helpful.
Hotel was modern, very clean, comfortable and quite luxurious.
Pub attached served very nice meals. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
The pub itself was lovely. Nothing. Was a faultless experience.
- Harvey (9/5): I’ll be back next year - Very good restuarant, enjoyed both evening meal and breakfast. Staff were very welcoming and helpful No wardrobe in my room nor anywhere to hang a coat/jacket
- Hilary (10/5): - Beautiful very well equipped room. Breakfast was first class in a lovely restaurant. Only downside is that it's on a busy road and if you're not used to traffic noise you do notice it. However it was such a great place we'll definitely be back!
- Meryl (9/5): - Very comfortable room, smallish but well presented. Very good breakfast. A very pleasant stay and we would return. Pillows. I always think it would be a good idea to have a choice of soft or firm.
- Junior (10/5): Gracefull and inclusive - Location very good and breakfast was lovely. The manager was on top form and she brought it all together. Lack of signage for the reception
- Patricia (8/5): A much needed break. Thank you. - An excellent breakfast. Pleasant staff in spite of a very busy evening. A room without loud air con directly outside. We didn’t like the screen over the bath and shower. It wasn’t properly attached to the wall.
- Bill (5/5): Stayed for dinner with family. Sevice good , unfortunately in need of a new chef ! - Location In need of refreshment.
- Diane (8/5): Great location and breakfast. - The location and the breakfast. Having to come into the pub to get the key.The bathroom wasn’t cleaned very well and the room needed a bit of TLC - ie the carpet was quite stained.
- Jayne (10/5): Away for work and this pub was in the right place and was a wonderful stay - Lovely pub lovely rooms food was excellent and the staff very nice Nothing I did not find anything
- Amber (5/5): -
- Jon (7/5): -
- Lesley (7/5): - Very clean, room well equipped Very small room, and very hot through the night even though the heating wasn't on.there was a window but as it looked on a flat roof didn't like the ideaf being open.
Breakfast food was good but no offering extra toast or juice.Just nice to be offered even if you dont want it.
Staff very friendly.
Had to go outside to get to rooms and climb a lot of stairs with luggage, heavy fire doors.
Help would have been nice.
- Megan (10/5): Perfect - Amazing one night stay! Breakfast was included in the price which was so affordable but also top quality. The rooms were so clean and had everything you would need. The food was also amazing - would definitely return. Loved it all!
- Beech (10/5): - Lovely friendly from the minute you walk through the door Bit too warm on landing space ,a little over powering
- Julie (9/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): We had a very pleasant stay here and would thoroughly recommend. - It was nicely decorated and warm and the bed was very comfortable. The food we had was all delicious and the pub/ dining area was lovely and welcoming. There was a kitchen extractor outside the bedroom window which was very noisy during food service hours.
- Gina (9/5): Good value - The room was spacious enough . Good quality products left in the room . Fresh white towels comfortable bed . Friendly staff at breakfast . Fantastic choice of items to choose from and all good quality had dinner with the family . Excellent service all came out together and on time . Overall good value for money . Good selection of beers and drinks at reasonable prices . Room was very cold on arrival . Having to go outside to a side entrance to enter the room . Extremely noisy fans until 11.30pm at night even though on checking in was assured the fans went off at 9.30pm . They then came back on at 7am . So hard to fall asleep. Second night they did go off slightly earlier . Toilet in our room moved when you sat down . Toilet roll had no holder so had to leave on the floor . The window sill and sink in the bathroom needs some attention as mould present . The little chair in the room was slightly wobbly .
- Lynne (10/5): Lovely cosy pub with compact but clean and comfortable accommodation and first class breakfast - Lovely cosy pub with great food and the room in the Annex was very clean and comfy with little luxury toiletries. Very friendly staff. Had a very yummy evening meal and breakfast. Would definitely stay there again Nothing. Everything was great
- Laurence Hunt (10/5): Good value clean and well laid out meals excellant - Love the location.very upto date very well laid out
The evening meal and full breakfast was excellant The even meal not mention the service charge
Full cooked breakfast was lovely but the bread briwn was goid quality.
Stood on the plate middle with the better which when I removed to side with heat of meal runney could not use.
When I arrived very busy but no welcome at the bar not good for paying guests staff just walked away to service other customers possibly local
The lad using the coffee nachibe behind bar vould have said welcome they will ve with you soon
- Collette (8/5): -
- ALAN (9/5): relaxing - the staff and food was excellent
- Susan (8/5): Very good, comfortable pub with rooms. - This is the second time we have stayed at The Saracens Head, to attend family occasions in the area. The rooms are quite spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean with good quality (White Company) complimentary toiletries. Bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Although there were coat hooks, there were no coat hangers. A few coat hangers would have been good.
- B (8/5): apart from the light in the room, couldn't fault it. - excellent breakfast the emergency light in the bedroom - lit up the room
- Hazel (6/5): - The pub, the food, the staff. We were in Cosy. The room was small but comfortable. However the noise from a kitchen extraction fan was very noisy. We were told it went off and it did but not until 11.30. It then came on again at 7 am and then it was like someone was thumping the bedroom wall and this went on for over 5 mins.
The music from the pub did not get turned of until 2am and the people returning to the room next door were a nightmare. It was like they were in our bedroom. No insulation between the rooms .
Avoid this bedroom if you want to sleep.
- Agata (9/5): Great stay - Very nice pub/ acommodation. Amazing food

- kimberley (9/5): A lovely pub - Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing felt like too much trouble for them. Food was very good and well presented. To access your accommodation you had to walk out of the pub and down the side of the building.

- Nicola (7/5): Thank you. - I liked the decor
The bed was comfortable and the towels were fluffy.
Food was great. I would have liked some fruit for breakfast.
I didn’t like going outside to get into pub.
The bathroom was too small.
- Phillip (7/5): Good - It was beautiful place and was in a great location and facilities where nice The bed was cytastrophicy uncomfortable
- Josephine (6/5): If you can sleep through any noise, you'll be ok - if not, I would avoid. - Food was good.
In general, the cleanliness was decent. On arrival, the room was roasting hot, turned off the heating and opened the window to let in fresh air. Room was located at the rear above the kitchen and the constant 'burring' noise from the extractor fan was extremely annoying. Had to close window, to dim out the noise - put the fan on, but all it did was blow the hot air around and make a noise, making it difficult to sleep.
- Keith (9/5): - Great food. Room a little on the small size, could have done with a chair.
- Christina Willmotte (9/5): Fabulous stay at Saracen's Head - highly recommend - Great location, facilities and fabulous breakfast!!

- Natalie (9/5): - The staff were lovely and bubbly! Thank you
- Kay (Catherine) (8/5): Nice pub. - Nice pub and room. Good breakfast We were so looking forward to the Sunday roast dinner that we had seen going out at lunchtime. We were booked in but were told they were sold out of all their roasts and some other things. Very disappointed
- Lynne Perkes (10/5): Excellent location - Quite a snug room but very adequate with everything we needed. Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely return Lots of stairs to room not really a dislike but if you have health issues might be
- Ana (10/5): Very good value for money, we would come again and recommend it - Beautifully and homely/welcoming decorated, easy to find, friendly atmosphere Our room window opens right next to an extractor fan pipe and was noisy. We just kept it closed

- Giles (7/5): Family occasion stay was good - Breakfast was lovely Unfortunately the kitchen fan was right outside windo, but I asked them to turn it off at 10.30 which they did
- Lisa (10/5): Loved the relaxed vibe at Saracens Head - Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, great location, lovely food, love the outdoor llama lounge, comfortable rooms - lovely stay perfect! What’s not to love.,
- Weston (10/5): Exceptional - Really good value, nice room with breakfast included which was very good.
In a nice setting, staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay again.
- Janet (10/5): Excellent all round! - Easy to find, plenty of parking. A really warm welcome and a light comfortable room with everything I needed. The pub was lovely and busy even though it was a Monday. Food was well cooked and the breakfast was a treat. It was a very warm night - maybe a fan in the bedroom?
- Kevin (9/5): Enjoyable and relaxing. - Everything was really good. Nothing not to like. Nothing not to like.
- Maria (7/5): Mrs Marvellous say's.... - It is a nice hotel.
There was a heatwave and they supplied an electric fan.
The Lama's in the paddock were lovely to look at. I went during a heatwave,my room was stifling hot.
they did supply an electric fan but all it did was move the hot air around.
