• Nathan (4/5): - The pictures did not do the place justice. The stone stairs that you had to take if you wanted to walk anywhere or incredibly inconvenient. The bed is very hard and when I said something about this to the host, they did not offer anything. I had to ask for an extra comforter to put down to even make this day, manageable. Also, I read on three or four different websites that this place had bed and breakfast. When I arrived, I asked the host that gave us a tour of the place and she stated that they had not done that for a while over a year. I was very disappointed. The pool was very dirty and the place was just not what I was expecting. I will not be staying here again.

I recommend “At Home In the Tropics” for a quite, walkable, clean and friendly place to stay in St. Thomas!

It was wonderful to have beach chairs, towels, beach blanket, cooler etc provided. The area was very quiet but close to shops and local vendors. Would absolutely stay here again.

We had an early excursion and they found us a taxi that was willing to wake up early for us…but also promised to drive us if they taxi slept in! Breakfast was great every day and the view is amazing! Great location to downtown where you can walk to in 5 min or so. They also just bought Hotel 1829 which is close by and that looked very nice as well! We plan to go back.
• Rachael (10/5): Perfection - This b&b exceeded expectations. The owners could not have been more kind or accommodating. The daily breakfast was delicious, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the location was great and their dog gave us so much love & tail wags. Their front office had snorkels, sunscreen, bug spray, beach towels, they have thought of everything. We will 100% stay here or at their new Hotel 1829 on a future trip! Thank you, Mark & Jess!!!
• Joann (10/5): - Very welcoming . . . and accomodating, during our 6-day stay. The owner went the extra mile and loaned us his phone charger and gave us duct tape for a luggage repair. Breakfast never disappointed us-yummy! Especially fond of the warm lights outside our window on the bank. At Home in the Tropics makes you feel like you are home sweet home. Comfy and chill. Dogs were a bonus addition too!
• Carsten (8/5): - Nice and cozy bed and breakfast. Magnificent view over the town and harbour. Breakfast was served every morning, but there was only one choice which might not suit everybody, would have been nice with a more healthy choice as second option.
• MaryJo (10/5): - Beautiful views & rooms were decorated with the ocean vibe. Breakfast was quite tasteful each morning. Ochio the dog was quite entertaining. Jess & her husband are very kind & helpful. Excellent location. Highly recommend this small, quaint B&B.
• Bonil (10/5): - Jess and Mark were remarkable hosts. They offered us snorkel equipment, chairs and a cooler to bring to the beach which made things so easy. The property is just a short walk to downtown to restaurants and shopping. Currently there is construction going on behind the hotel but it really wasn't bothersome. Breakfast was served restaurant style, a varied menu daily and delicious. The hotel itself is rustic, intimate, island style and very comfortable. There are several steps to get in and out of the property but that is typical being on a steep hill. Definitely recommend.

• Chris (10/5): - We got very lucky with this B&B. Marc and Jess were very welcoming. Their property has a lot of history dating back to 1804. It still has that charm and character, but at the same time it is fully renovated and provides all modern amenities. In addition, it has an amazing view of the bay and excellent service to top it all of: lovely breakfast, pool, use of beach chairs, beach towels and snorkeling gear. We would be very happy to stay here again if we return to St Thomas.

Having breakfasts with spectacular views of the harbor was a great way to start each day! The B&B is nestled in the hill overlooking the harbor and you can easily get to the town by stairs. The B&B is also within driving distance to two beautiful beaches, one of which we were able to snorkel with turtles! Highly recommend this B&B.
• John (10/5): - My wife and I just spent 3 nights at At Home In The Tropics. I cant say enough about how nice our stay was. Jess, Mark and Lauren were all fantastic hosts. The breakfast in the mornings were unique and delicious. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the property is located just a short ride from everything in St Thomas. We will definitely be returning and staying here!
• Allen (8/5): - Mark, Jess and Lauren do magnificent jobs as hosts! They're very welcoming and offer helpful insights into getting around the islands, scheduling taxi pickups, and understanding the local culture. Their guest rooms are very clean, everything works, premises are safe, and breakfasts are delicious!! The view from our balcony of the harbor/bay and many islands was beautiful. The only negative was the weather---heavy rains before and after arrival increased the humidity levels (but room AC was excellent) and rain caused considerable runoff reducing ocean clarity. Taxis are expensive from the airport to hotels and to ferries. We walked throughout the historic district and harbor to sight-see and for dinners, and enjoyed the exercise going up and down the very steep steps and hills. Our best dinner and price was at nearby Greenhouse Restaurant & Bar, and the worst dinner and price(!) was at Greengos Caribbean Cantina. Tap & Still is a great deal too (both on St. Thomas and St. John), if you like tasty burgers and fries. Arawak (recommended by Mark & Jess) did a great job with our kayak/snorkel tour finding calm seas, clear water, beautiful beaches and many, many fish and coral on St. John.
• Stephen (10/5): - The friendly service, amenities and cool charming rooms provided by our hosts were all very good. Breakfast and coffee in the mornings was special.
• Michelle (10/5): - This B&B was perfect for our anniversary stay after 12 days of party at the BVI regatta. Jessica greeted us on our arrival, and gave us a map with suggestions of events and restaurants. She was in contact daily via text, and even let me borrow some nail polish remover. We like to sleep in & skip breakfast, so she kindly brought a pot of coffee & fruit to our door front every morning. Bring your walking shoes, because At The Tropics is nestled up a hill within 10 minute walk to the main areas of shopping. We loved getting exercise in, especially after living on a catamaran for so long! I track my steps on my Apple Watch & had over 12k steps all 3 days we were there. :) We walked to the cruise harbor area for shopping & dining. We highly recommend Tap & Still for the best hamburgers with the lowest cost we’ve seen out on vaca. We even brought an extra burger back which we ate the next day. At Tropics has a kitchen area outside by the pool with microwave, sink, dishes & 5 gallon water dispenser at your convenience. Also, the pool is accessible at any time of day or night. The days were humid in October, so we looked forward to the pool in the evenings to cool off. The icing on the cake was we had the place to ourselves!! We would definitely stay here again!!

• JOHNNY (10/5): - My husband and I had a great time at this fantastic Bed and Breakfast Hotel. This time we decided to avoid resorts and feel instead how an islander lives. The location is perfect for exploring the city center with many attractions and restaurants around. Walking around the bay was amazing and walking down and uphill was our perfect amount of daily exercise! We would like to thank the hosts Jess and Mark for being so friendly and welcoming. Also, Lauren who was helping them, she was very sweet and attentive. The room was care for and beautifully prepared, very clean and with everything you need to make your stay at home. They also provide beach accessories such as chairs, blanket and sunscreen. Every morning we have a different and delicious breakfast next to the pool with a stunning view. So if you really want to feel at home but in the tropics, in a quiet and romantic environment, this is definitely your place! We highly recommend it and we will return in a future visit.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and some of the ingredients were grown right there on the property. Mark and Jess were so wonderful and truly cared about making our trip enjoyable. The B&B was a short walk to downtown/restaurants/shops. Unfortunately, there were quite a few stairs to get back up to the property if walking. I did not mind the stairs as it was a great way to get some exercise on vacation, just not so great for those who are physically disabled. I would definitely recommend this property and look forward to staying at their other property when open, Hotel 1829.

The pool is new and clean. And, Jess’ breakfasts were all sooo delicious! We will definitely come back in the future, and recommend this BnB to friends visiting St Thomas!

• anwar (10/5): At home in the tropics - If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would! This bed and breakfast is an absolute dream for your short or long stay while in St.Thomas. It's located within Charlotte Amalie and in walking distance or a short taxi ride to most things. Our room was impeccable, comfortable, and inviting. Your hosts Mark and Jess are genuine, welcoming and overall just wonderful people. The delicious breakfast every morning appears to alternate between sweet and savory. Trust me the breakfast won't disappoint you. In closing I will only stay at this property when I return to St.Thomas and I highly recommend you book here too. You will love it!

All the food was homemade by the host, Jess. My personal favorite was the morning we had a coconut smoothie with eggs in a homemade bread bowl. The view was amazing and the property was so picturesque. Additionally, the bed was so comfortable, probably the most comfortable bed and pillows I’ve ever had on vacation. To top it off, the hosts were so hospitable and welcoming. Can’t recommend this place enough! Thanks guys!

• CBA (10/5): At home in St Thomas - Our 8 day stay at At home in the Tropics was excellent and made more pleasant by the helpfulness of the owners Jess and Mark. The breakfasts were a treat to be looked forward to each day and were varied and tasteful, cooked fresh by Jess each morning. The property is 200 years old but well maintained and a credit to the owners. Everything worked as it should except for a TV glitch that we overcame with Mark's help. We would highly recommend this B & B for any able bodied guest as being on a hilly island results in plenty of steps to negotiate which seemed to get easier after a few days.

• carl (10/5): - Don't even know where to start. Mark and Jessica were fantastic hosts. They were mindful of everyone's personal space but always seem to be right there when you had a question. The property is perfectly located and the view was fantastic which over looked the bay and the town. Room was exactly as seen in the photos. We walked down the 109 steps down into the town several times to eat at the many local restaurants and bars. Hitting the chicken truck on the main waterfront road is a must! If you want a quiet place to stay and be fed a great breakfast (Local coffee they served was the best) then look no further. No resort fee, no parking fee, free use of beach chairs, snorkel gear, Coolers and other items is a big added bonus. As McCarthy said when he left the Philippines...."I shall return" applies to At Home in the Tropics for us!
• Suzanne (10/5): - In a word, At Home in the Tropics is perfect! It starts with the setting, which is not only gorgeous, but very conveniently located a few blocks from the main St Thomas shopping/eating district. Our room was spotless (cleaned very day!) and plenty big, and had everything we needed for a comfortable week away. The pool and breakfast area are delightful. The breakfasts themselves were one of the highlights of our trip… fresh and delicious, a different breakfast every day (and mine were vegetarian, as requested). Jess and Mark were lovely hosts, offering many tips and suggestions for local touring and transportation. We can’t recommend At Home in the Tropics enough! Stop looking… this is the place!

• James (10/5): - We didn't expect for our B&B stay to be the defining aspect of our St. Thomas vacation, but At Home in the Tropics proved to be that, and then some. We could tell from the moment we arrived that our warm hosts and property owners, Jess and Mark, were all-in on making our stay memorable. The views of the bay from our room and outdoor dining area were phenomenal. Because the property features only four rooms, we enjoyed a very quiet, comfortable, and private stay. We were especially impressed with the room's boutique and historical charm, from the French shutters to the reimagined barracks-style architecture. But the real pièce de résistance of a stay here was, without question, the eating experience. If you plan to have breakfast on this island, you cannot do better than At Home in the Tropics. Jess' locally sourced and thoughtfully crafted dishes were sensational. While serving up delicious fruit and rounds of coffee each morning, Mark (a seas-oned expert on all things local) offered recommendations that helped maximize our experience on the island. We would have stayed another five days here if we could've, if for no other reason than to enjoy the hospitality. My boyfriend and I booked a 5 night stay and ended up extending for 7 nights because it was so incredible and we didn’t want to leave. Mark and Jen are the nicest hosts and so accommodating. We looked forward to coffee and homemade breakfast every morning, which was absolutely delicious. The pictures are exactly what the hotel looks like, cute and quaint, so clean with beautiful views. The area is walkable and the taxi service is very efficient. I highly recommend staying here if you have no kids and want a quiet, romantic vacation. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

Their willingness to go above and beyond for their guests is truly amazing! A beautiful location to explore the city with picturesque views and a breakfast that rivals any five star dining! • Jesse (10/5): - At Home in the Tropics was the perfect place to stay during our honeymoon! Jess and Mark were fantastic hosts, the breakfasts were outstanding, the cleanliness was unmatched, and the views were breathtaking. This is is an absolute gem in St. Thomas.

• Sharon (10/5): - 1500 characters is not enough to say how much we loved our stay. First time in St Thomas. Because of our visit to At Home in the Tropics, we will definitely return. Arriving, we were immediately greeted by Jess, and Mark, given a nice tour of the property, and our room. From the start, we felt welcomed, safe, and at home. With 4 suites total with private entrances, you can feel like you have the place to yourself, or enjoy the company of the other guests during breakfast,or poolside during the day. Perfect location. We were walking distance to anything we wanted, and quick cab ride to any excursion. Every morning, we were greeted by Mark, who is always warm, and cheerful. He introduced us to delicious local fruits, some right from the property, and we aways had a great conversation. He would bring out breakfast freshly cooked by Jess. I can not tell you how great every breakfast was. Every dish was fresh, homemade, delicious. You can tell she has spent a lot of time, and love while creating/perfecting her recipes. We started every day with full, happy stomachs, and didn't feel the need to eat again until late afternoon. I have stayed at resorts, and they have their positive points, but if you're looking for a different, special experience, please try this. We will not stay anywhere else when we come back. They have put time, and thought into the property, and everything you experience here throughout your stay. Thank you so much, Mark and Jess. Truly a special experience.
