Guest Reviews
- LESLEY (10/5): Chester Beattie - small hotel with a big heart - Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Just a minor complaint that our bedroom window (ground floor)was situated right beside the entrance door and unfortunately we were woken several times from 7am by staff entering or exiting the building/using an audible key pad or phone. It wasn't too bad for us as we planned to get up reasonably early for breakfast but not ideal if you want to sleep in a little later.
- Albert (6/5): - Parking
Restaurant Chambre sombre
- Catherine (6/5): It was convenient to stay to meet up with family. - Friendly, helpful staff. Went out of their way to help if asked. Breakfast good.
Rooms comfortable but… Bathroom not accessible for older customer. My mum could not get in out of bath/shower safely. Bathroom has no natural light but is poorly lit…2 ceiling lights very dim and dark decor. No option to book room downstairs…we were allocated a room up 2 flights of stairs and my mum has poor mobility.
- Healy (10/5): Ireland's hidden gem - What is not to like. This is definitely one of Ireland's hidden gems. Having to leave!!
- Marianna Corrado (9/5): -
- Colin (8/5): Don't judge this by first impressions - it is surprisingly good! - Located in the centre of Ashford Village in County Wicklow. It is on a main road but ample parking at the rear. Room was remarkably quiet in spite of busy locations. Large public house and restaurant and a beer garden. Hence lots of people around but residential side was very peaceful. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Good breakfast which was served (i.e. not a buffet - such a pleasant change). Not much. The name Inn somewhat undersells it although it is probably too small to be called an hotel. On first entering we were concerned it might be noisy but see comments above.

- Alexia (10/5): -
- Debra (10/5): - We had a wonderful room and the bar/restaurant was open and delicious. We were right next to a gas station that had a public washer and dryer which we took advantage of. I highly recommend this inn.
- Clara (10/5): -
- Colette (10/5): Ticked all the boxes with a real Irish culture - On arrival met with such a warm welcome. The staff were so friendly in the bar and the restaurant and the service was fab. The food was really good aswell. Loved the little touches like the make up remover wipes. Perfect location for exploring Wicklow. Nothing was all great
- Kurt (10/5): - Comfortable, well appointed rooms, a nice outdoor seating area for quiet evening conversation, a lively pub seemingly popular with locals and an excellent breakfast.
- Mina (9/5): Superb -
- Mike (10/5): Excellent hotel and great staff - Staff were excellent and restaurant food was superb.
A great place to stay no issues at all , beer garden lovely Nothing
- Sabina (2/5): Claustrophobic - It was the worst stay - room most uncomfortable location. Asked to change the room the answer was I could go but the room would be charged Staff was not friendly and I cannot recommend this hotel
- Yvonne (9/5): Superb -
- Dermot (10/5): Fantastic warm friendly staff, excellent location, lovely setting. Highly recommend - Family business that cares. Warm felling. Great food and lovely location Everything excellent
- Sandra (9/5): Lovely place to stay but high price for an Inn as it definitely isn’t a hotel. - Ashford is such a beautiful little village only a two minute walk from Mount Usher Gardens. The room was clean but the old style decor and small window left it dark. There were no chairs for sitting on and no table, apart from a dressing table stool. This meant you had to lie in bed to read or watch tv. My husband was disappointed with the bare minimum of standard tv channels too. When we walked into the restaurant the first thing we both noticed was the well worn table tops. The food, however was excellent. We stayed three nights and we thoroughly enjoyed the food each night. Cooked breakfast was excellent too but there was no buffet for anyone who just wanted cereal or fruit. The staff were more than helpful but the bowl of muesli I ordered was far too much and they didn’t have the fruit I requested (a banana). The breakfast room is used by the public and Friday morning was busy and noisy with the local builders having their Friday brunch. There is a beautiful area outside for enjoying drinks. Unfortunately the rooms (possibly 8 of the 12) overlook this. We were lucky because we stayed mid week but we did wonder if it would have been noisy at the weekend. We stayed in room 101 which was right at the entrance door to the reception area. It did mean that there was noise as people were checking out each morning. There is no one at reception but there is a phone to dial for assistance. Usual one of the bar staff are happy to help. We would have preferred at least one chair instead of the beautiful free standing antique mirror as we had no where to sit in the room. A buffet for breakfast would be nice so you can select your own food and the tables in the restaurant could be doing with a revamp.
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Lindsay (5/5): Enjoyed everything but noisy room position - The quality and size of room and bed. Very good dinner and breakfast. Room 101 was very noisy due to window opening directly adjacent to main entrance doors and pub garden therefore very noisy. We had to close windows on a hot day making the room even hotter. There was no air conditioning.
- D (10/5): - Food tasty and plentiful and outside seating area was great, especially when the sun shone
- Julie (10/5): - Beautiful outdoor patio; excellent, friendly service that went above and beyond with a smile; great breakfast; clean room
- Kruseman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (8/5): Very good - Clean room. Old style room but cozy. The room we had was right beside the back entrance so it was a bit noisy.
- Trisha (9/5): Superb - The staff cannot do it enough for you. The bedrooms are lovely and comfortable. The food, well what can I say, my compliments to the chef. The outdoor area is fabulous. The only downside was the traffic going by early in the morning. But obviously there is nothing that the Chester Beatty Inn can do about that.
- Karen (9/5): A lovely, quiet, delicious break after a busy bus tour around Ireland! - The on-site restaurant was delicious! It exceeded expectations in food deliciousness and the lovely servers, who were friendly and welcoming. I tipped them, which seemed to be unexpected and appreciated, as opposed to expected in USA! It felt private, and a get away from touristy areas, after our bus tour. Getting here without a private car was not info the Inn was able to give. We could have taken a bus (#131 0r 133, I think) from Dublin. We took the train to nearby Wicklow,. and Uber (which was a taxi, ~$20), bus was possible, I think, also) They could have had more info on local bus transportation to near by areas. However, the lovely ladies in the restaurant looked up and directed me to the bus stop, where other local ladies helped me figure out that there were options to take a bus to get to nearby sights. We did book a wonderful taxi to drive us around for a day, but could have taken a bus to the same locations (saving $150) but it was right for our needs, on this vacation.
- Maggie (10/5): I couldn’t recommend this place enough. If only every hotel was up to this standard . - We had a fabulous stay right from the start. The staff are amazing, helpful and friendly people always welcoming. As for the food very tasty with a good variety to suit all tastes. A very busy place but so well organised. Nothing. Though we made the owner laugh when I said that the hairdryer flex was too short.
- Gannettm (9/5): For traditional Irish hospitality stay at Chester Beatty. - Great overnight accommodation on the way back to Dublin. Wonderful pub and restaurant. Good parking. Older refurnished inn under newer management. All was good.
- Donna (10/5): - Amazing staff and locals with tourists enjoying the dining.
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (10/5): A little jem in Ashford with clean rooms, great service, excellent bar food and an owner usually on site. -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional -
- dietmar (10/5): A wonderful example of hospitality - Loved everything about the hotel and the area.
Charming, friendly staff. Great Guinness and food.
The rambling but well thought out bars, restaurant and outdoor areas made you feel at ease and the staff / owners were amazing.
We shall return
- Warren (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were very clean and spacious. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff and owners. The price was alittle expensive. I had worked the amount out in euros to pounds for the 4 of us. We had 3 king-size rooms. When it came to the bill at the propery, it then worked out £111 more. Even though I'd checked the euro rate and queried it with Sean the owners Son. We just paid it because I don't like to cause a fuss and also because they were so nice.
- Louise (10/5): Chester Beatty Inn - Three night stay - Lovely room, excellent staff, delicious food , nice to find a menu with some different options from all the other restaurants. Laundry facilities next door which was convenient. A good base for exploring surrounding attractions. Loved everything- no complaints on anything.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fabio (10/5): - The Chester Beatty Inn was our first stay in ireland, and it cound‘t be any better. The people are friendly, kind and just lovely. The food is very very good and the rooms are nice. Every thing was perfect. Thank you very much.
Next time again.
