- Adrian (7/5): Nice, but a little underwhelming - Location was fantastic, best view in town. Our room (and bathroom) was large and comfortable. The breakfasts were also quite good. The whole hotel was quite dated and overdue for a spruce up, certainly not the 5 star experience we were expecting (and paid for). The same could be said for the ‘fine dining’ restaurant, while tasty, the food and service were pub quality.

- Helen (6/5): Disappointing. - Location of hotel was spectacular. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely. On all three days there wasn't hot water, it was tepid at best. There was a leak in the roof outside our room which was worrying because there were electrical wires exposed and getting wet. The cleaner left our room wide open with the hotel master key in the door after cleaning. We received an apology but even so, you don't really expect this. Although rated AA 5* hotel, in our opinion it was more like a 4* B&B It was very expensive for the size of the room and the lack of facilities in the hotel.

Lovely lounge with weird and wonderful decor, the small tables could have done with a wipe down though. Pleasant, friendly staff. Gorgeous walks in the area, lots of nature, peace and quiet. Breakfast - The waiter was rushed off his feet and had no help, we waited AGES then were brought the wrong meals, and before our tea had even arrived. Once it did arrive the food was fine, but nothing special. Bar drinks were expensive, although we expected this as the restaurant is classed as 5*. (We didn't dine here so can't comment)

The location in the Yorkshire Dales is incredibly beautiful and lovely hiking available nearby. The food at the restaurant on site was FANTASTIC.

Breakfast started at 0830 but we wanted to get a way early to complete our leg of the coast to coast. She prepared our breakfast for 0700 allowing us to leave early. Couyaak.for more, would highly recommend staying and the evening meal was also amazing. Nil
- Poole (9/5): Very comfortable stay in a great location for exploring upper Swaledale. - Very comfortable slightly quirkily decorated hotel. Very clean rooms and public areas with friendly staff. Great location to explore Reeth and the wonderful Swaledale with plenty of walks from the village. We ate one evening at the hotel which, although limited in choice, was lovely with gluten free options too. We didn't get chance to sit out on the terrace looking out over the village green that would be lovely on a warm summer's evening. A minor point really but the gluten free 'full english' breakfast did not include sausages (which are widely available as gluten free) or black pudding (more difficult gluten free) and so were left out. It would have been nice to have an extra slice of bacon/egg/mushroom is a substitute. Having said that, we would stay again.

Two things: you need to like chintz! Second, the shower unit didn't reflect the space and luxury feel of the bedroom and en-suite.

We stayed in the Muker studio apartment which was very spacious and had a perfect kitchen area with all that we needed for our stay. Lovely view from this room . Huge comfortable bed. Very spacious hotel with a beautiful quiet lounge. Special shout out to the friendly helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Ailsa, Emma and Tom all very welcoming and looked after us during our 2 day stay. Thank you team Burgoyne. Super breakfast each day with a great choice on the menu and plenty of refills of tea and coffee. We liked everything about the property

The parking area was not ideal. The hotel has a very small car park which was full and it was very precarious reversing out in the dark. We parked on a grass verge in the end after a stressful reversal.

Staff are very attentive and welcoming The only things we picked up on was we came back for a drink on Saturday night to be told you had run out of Vodka and Jack Daniels? That was not great as we couldn't have a drink and felt that this should have been stocked up. Also at breakfast we were not given any napkins and I had to ask for them. Also i thin a few pastries would be a nice touch for breakfast too

- Oliver (3/5): Cooky hotel with no staff. Felt like a haunted hotel. - The property was very nice. The building is a huge old building with classic style decor and furnishings. The cleaning staff there were helpful. The beating was not working when we arrived but that was sorted the next morning. We were not told that there would be no staff at all in the hotel after breakfast throughout January. We were just left on our own in what felt like an abandoned building. We weren’t able to get drinks from the bar. There was no dinner service. Really not good. The plus side is that we were able to use the lounge like it was our own. But we had to buy a bottle of wine from the shop over the road. Whoever decided to abandon the guests in the hotel to themselves… that was a bad move.
- Peter (5/5): Disappointed - Wonderful eclectic decor. Curtains hanging off and couldn't be closed. Heating stopped working, moved to a lovely suite but heating was overpowering . No staff to be seen. No drinks or coffee to be seen
- Mark (10/5): - The Burgoyne is in a perfect position in the village. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was excellent. Very small car park but has elec points if needed.
- John (7/5): Could be great - Location and cleanliness Room was cold. Small bathroom. Bed too high. Breakfast was average. Only one member of staff serving and taking orders needed at least another person. The filter coffee was cold and there was about 10 of us wanting a fresh brew. The young man did sort but no table had any milk so once we got coffee we had no milk. This place needs staff

- Luke (10/5): Absolutely stunning stay, would highly recommend - Room was well presented and extremely clean! Staff were respectful and attentive Parking was an issue but nothing to complain about.
- Lesley (8/5): Nice dog friendly hotel - The views were lovely, the room was nicely decorated and the staff were really accommodating and it was very dog friendly. There are clearly plumbing issues, there was a smell every time the toilet was flushed and a loud noise to accompany this.

- Neil (10/5): Amazing views, brilliant staff choice of local well cooked food. - Amazing break in a fantastic location. Brilliant helpful staff. Calming atmosphere in a quirky almost 1920 jazz age atmosphere. Of all the hotels we’ve stayed in this is without doubt the hardest to describe. In a stark functional world this place is unique! Loved our time here and we were sorry to leave. Dog friendly! People friendly! Brilliant place to go! Nothing!
- Michael (5/5): Disappointed - The room was a good size and had a great view over the village green to Gunnerside. The breakfast was okay. The staff were very friendly. The Hotel was cold and not very inviting. There is a beautiful lounge which has an open fire, but unfortunately we stayed on a Monday and we were told that the fire is only lit at the weekend. So we went elsewhere for a cosy drink and dinner.
