- christine (8/5): would def be go back! - breakfast v good, value for money room was cold when arriving but that was OK, but put heater on at bedtime, then was too hot, could not work out how to regulate? Maybe instructions would be good? It was too late to speak to anyone as gone midnight by then
- Nicola (9/5): Great stay in lovely old inn with excellent staff - Staff were lovely, welcoming and efficient. Room was spotlessly keen, comfortable bed, large soft towels, plenty of hot water. The wall heater warmed the room very quickly. The nature of the old building meant that you could hear some noise from the adjacent room but it wasn't a big problem and would not stop us staying there again.
- Marilyn (8/5): Great pub stay and would return - Location Great breakfast Accommodation good value for the money Dog barking in next door room - but we knew it was dog friendly accommodation so accepted it
- Paula (8/5): -
- Steve (9/5): - Excellent location, friendly welcoming staff and locals Nothing

Nice and clean, everything worked, nice complimentary drinks. Only thing for me that could be done in the room was a couple of coat pegs - not a dealbreaker:))

- Leon (9/5): A warm welcome, with good facilities, and friendly staff. - Great rural location.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
Clean and comfortable room.
Evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
Very reasonable prices. The country lanes nearby are very narrow, with plenty of pot holes!
- Steve (10/5): Perfect stay - Lovely pub, great food, great accomodation. Absolutely nothing to fault! Absolutely nothing to fault!
- Sarah (8/5): Great for Dog Owners - Outdoor ground floor, terraced house style entrance direct to carpark was brilliant as travelling with my dog. Very thin walls so could hear everything in adjoining room. Only one price option for breakfast.
- Colin (8/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff, very comfortable and clean room.
Had a Good Friday night chatting with the locals. Had a problem with the heating in our room which couldn’t be fixed until the Monday the day after we left.
- Tamandra (10/5): Welcoming bolthole perfectly placed to explore beautiful surroundings. - Friendliness of staff, their willingness to help, provide local recommendations etc all faultless.
The food was delicious and exceeded expectations: from locally sourced breakfast ingredients to pub lunch which exceeded expectations. Lovely little touches like homemade biscuit served with coffee/tea orders.
Room had kettle with tea and coffee, a gorgeous large hot shower. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Nothing

- Delyth (10/5): Peaceful & cosy country inn, great food & warm welcome - It’s a beautiful building and the owners have made it a warm and welcoming place. There’s a bar area with huge real fire and a separate dining room with log burner. There’s food is of a high standard and much is locally sourced. They also have a cafe and gift shop at one end which serves drinks, sweet treats and has a fabulous selection of gifts. The rooms are spacious and adequately furnished, individual heater was helpful and the bed was super comfy. All the staff were friendly and hospitable, and Kim went out of her way for me delivering my goodies bought in the shop to my home in Northumberland. I really cannot fault this charming country pub, it ticks all the boxes and if you’re looking for a peaceful and cosy place to stay whilst exploring the area, this should suit you perfectly. Please note: it is isolated and there are limited taxis so if you need one book ahead. It was ideal for me as I was attending a memoir course at Arvon Totleigh Barton and wanted peace & quiet to write before I joined the group. Spent a very productive four nights at the Half Moon Inn. Everything was good, no complaints
- Higgs (8/5): Three nights stay
Absolutly lovely place to stay. - Friendly welcome, food, cleanliness and location. As a sufferer of back pain. I found the bed very uncomfortable.
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Di (9/5): -
- Carol (8/5): Enjoyable, breakfast was very good & staff very friendly. - Comfortable friendly Inn. Room very nice, comfortable & en suite facilities are good.
Heating came on at 4pm so room quite cold when we arrived.
Pub where we also had dinner was cool but throws provided.
Bean stew was a disappointing as not many beans & a small scoop of mash.
Husband’s pie meal was good.
Breakfast was very good.
Would recommend but take warm indoor clothes in winter. Rooms rather cool
- Richard (5/5): Room was cold on arrival, but staff were very nice and helpful. - Quiet location. Room was a little cold
- michael (8/5): - FOOD
- Jane (9/5): A lovely country location, ideal for exploring the local area and down into Cornwall. - A lovely quiet location for the August bank holiday weekend, I had the last room available on the night which was the one for people with disabilities in a block beside the main building which didn't bother me at all. It was spotless. Comfy bed and a nice spacious room were much appreciated after a longer than expected drive that day. I was just in time to order a meal which was tasty. I explored a bit the next day, deciding to go to Trevonne beach, bit further, but a really lovely beach and back then via Bude for my second night. Parking was on the main square on the 1st night and then in front of my room on the 2nd night - much appreciated as I was able to sort my bags. I don't really like tinned tomatoes and forgot to say that on the 2nd morning.
- Kevin (10/5): This was a fabulous place to eat & the room was beautifully clean & comfortable - The room was spacious, extremely clean with a very comfortable bed. The staff were very welcoming, professional & helpful. The food was fantastic! So well cooked, hot and tasty. It was one of the best places we’ve stayed in for a long time. The attention to detail was outstanding. Nothing!
- David (9/5): Great place relax and enjoy. - Friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. Quality and choice of food compliments the Half Moon. We will certainly revisit.
- Dixon (10/5): Would stay again - Lovely gem of a place
Fab room and shower
Fantastic tasty food with plenty of choice
- Stephen (10/5): Great Pub - Friendly staff, arrived on a Friday evening and the pub was buzzing, a great night with good food.
- Paul (8/5): Very enjoyable stay in a quality, cosy, country inn. Recommended👍👍 - Lovely traditional inn set in a village square.
Cosy bar and restaurant area
Looked like there was lovely additional accommodation around the the back of the inn with gardens.
Food was very good and although a bit expensive, was good value Draught ales probably don’t sell as well as ciders or lagers as both ales I tried were not very fresh.
We stayed in a nice en-suite bedroom but the bed was a bit on the small side for me (standard double) albeit comfortable
- Charlotte (8/5): Great for what we needed, the food was gorgeous - Great location for what we needed and I loved the Farmers shop and roaring fire in the bar Our room needs a freshen up and we could hear our upstairs neighbours walking around on the floorboards quite loudly
- Cécile (8/5): Very pleasant stay in Sheepwash - The bedroom was quite large.
The staff very welcoming.
- Janice (10/5): Exceeded our expectations in every way. Simply perfect - All the staff made us feel so welcome and looked after. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, & we loved the decor and style. Our suite was away from the main part of the Inn, so it was lovely and quiet
- Simon (9/5): -
- Cliff (10/5): Great friendly feeling and ideal for anyone to unwind. - Lovely location and great for food and comfort Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): -
- collings (8/5): Lovely traditional inn with kind genuine staff and friendly vibe. Excellent food - Very peaceful location lovely kind staff Nothing
- Karin (10/5): Traditional and Welcoming! - Professional, welcoming staff. They waited for our late arrival for check in. Traditional pub with modern amenities and a warm, caring service.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Perfect break - Beautiful 16th century Inn with cute outbuildings in Sheepwash village - excellent accommodation, food and friendly staff.
Breakfast choice was excellent
Plenty of walking routes nearby and easy access to the coast and surrounding areas Nothing
- Steve (10/5): A Perfect Pub - I was here for one night on business.
The evening food was fantastic, I had the Yarg starter and the homemade pie, highly recommend!!
The beer was very well kept.
The bar area was a delight to sit in, if you like old English pubs then come here.
The room was immaculate and very peaceful.
Breakfast set me up for the day.
The owner and staff were first class.
This is how all rural inns should be.
I will return. Nothing, it ticked all my boxes and then some.
- Jason (10/5): - Nice location, food was excellent.
- Peter (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. Lovely atmosphere - Perfect accommodation for 2 oldies and dog.
Very friendly staff and lovely village
Good beer good breakfast Time of breakfast for us 8-9am a bit of a challenge especially as we were late arriving
the night before but that’s a personal preference and not your fault.
- Daniel (10/5): Stop off on the way down south a real treasure of a find - Fantastic traditional pub Nothing all good
- Alec (10/5): -
- DARREN (9/5): -
- Linda (10/5): Very comfortable. - Breakfast was excellent Not applicable
- Bev Norman (10/5): - Lovely welcoming country pub Nothing
- Darren (9/5): Overall a great two day stay - I loved the quality of the accommodation and pub. The food and breakfast were perfect. In the part of the hotel that I stayed in, there is a smokers table at the front of the building. With your windows open, the room quickly smelt of smoke, perhaps relocating this would be a significant benefit to customers.
- simon (10/5): -
- Frances (10/5): Lovely stay - highly recommended - Beautiful setting, lovely old inn that’s been well looked after, great decor and really lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Adam was a delightful man. Food was great. Personal preference but bed was a bit hard.
- Helen (10/5): -
- Marsha (8/5): Beautiful village, good location for a pit stop. - Staff extremely friendly and accommodating, stunning village. Walking down the lane at night rewards you with an unbelievably stunning nights sky. Rooms a bit tired. Pillows and bed lumpy.
- Howard (7/5): Disappointed - Location. bed very comfortable & very clean room. Small room for the money. Bar was all closed up by 9.30pm on a Saturday evening.
Average breakfast, ok if you wanted a full English (Sausages were dreadful)
No fruit option & plain yogurt’s
- Jeroen (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): -

- Brian (10/5): -
- Janice (10/5): Great value - Friendly, safe, comfortable and fantastic food
- Christopher (10/5): Really nice country location, great staff and good food. Highly recommended! - Great location All good.
- Bryony (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay at the Half Moon Inn. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. - It was a very pleasant looking pub with a wide variety of accommodation. The food was high quality and the decor of our room was lovely. The bed was too soft for both of us so we didn’t get a great nights sleep.
- Jane (7/5): Great location and fabulous food - The pub itself was very nice and the meal we bought there was excellent.
They provided cycle storage.
Pretty country location Serious sound issue between our room and the next room. We were kept awake and woken up by loud talking and TV noise that could be easily heard in our room. Not really acceptable.
- Lisa (8/5): - Staff, food and cocktails were brilliant. It was a bit far away from anywhere, also son had no water in room but was resolved.
- John (9/5): -
- Maxine (10/5): Excellent - Excellent Nil
- sara (8/5): Lovely stay, comfortable and clean - Staff were lovely
- Tony (9/5): ok, fit for purpose, staff pleasant - location and food the room didn't initially meet my request as the room and bathroom a little awkward with slopping roofs
- Katrien (10/5): - Vriendelijke warme ontvangst. Heel netjes. Geen wifi in de kamer
- Bjorkstrand (8/5): Great stop on the Devon Coast to Coast bike ride - Great pub with really friendly staff The room was a touch old/tired but still really clean with comfy beds
- Barry (8/5): Lovely pub in a nice village setting - Located in a lovely village. The room was comfortable and on the ground floor. The pub and food were lovely with a good selection on the menu. They had storage for our bikes. Nothing
- Nicholas (8/5): Generally very good, but a few mo - the staff, the food. Food company delivery van arrived and off loaded (a bit noisily)each morning at 6am.
- Sandra (8/5): Great stay, recommend. - Lovely setting, comfortable room, friendly & efficient staff, fresh milk on request, great pub and food, good breakfast choice. Minor niggle, the room was vacuumed clean but the wooden floor could do with a mop as we found when we showered our feet.
- Julia (9/5): Lovely pub stay - We liked the old world charm of the building in the little village square with the church and the evening meal was delicious. Our evening meal waitress appeared stressed and stroppy!
- Trevor (8/5): Great stay. Would recommend - The staff were all friendly. The food was excellent
- Seamus (7/5): Very nice village and good food - Nice location. Very helpful staff The mattress needed replacing
