• paul (9/5): I would, happily, stay here again, without a second thought. And I shall tell people about it too. - Having been surprised by the dead hotel in the front, my husband was found by the proprietress and shown to a lovely place behind the hotel, where we had a room. The room was lovely and big with 2 dormer windows. The bed was huge and the pillows wonderful. The bathroom was big and the shower amazing. It seemed there was the best of everything and we slept really well. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and a great start to the day. Our host was lovely. Slightly worried by the old, wooden, spiral staircase the led up to our room. I am sure it was fine and maintained, but the gaps in the wood and the hole in one tread were a little worrying. But there was nothing o dislike about the place.

L'hôtesse nous a tenu compagnie pendant notre petit déjeuner. L'hébergement est situé dans le centre ville de Craon, au bord de la rivière. C'est très tranquille !

• Robert (8/5): Enjoyable quirky place to stay with great breakfast - Great location close to the centre of Craon, yet peaceful. Amazing buildings - our accommodation was in a gite in the grounds of the main house. It was too cold to use the outdoor pool, but it would be wonderful in summer with a large garden too. Chantal was an amazing hostess, providing a superb breakfast (including delicious scrambled egg, fresh bread and cheese). It was lovely to meet fellow guests over breakfast. Free parking was easily available nearby. A quirky, unusual and memorable stay! Open plan bathroom/toilet was unusual. As others have mentioned, restaurants are limited in Craon, but we enjoyed a good pizza by the market hall.

• Francis (1/5): Appalling customer service! - We contacted you to say we had booked the wrong date. You kindly said you would transfer the booking to 13 June. We turned up on our bicycles at 1900. There was no one there. We kept phoning- no answer. Luckily we found the last room somewhere else.

Lieux soigné ( chambre et décoration ) La piscine est superbe Juste un petit bémol mais du fait de Booking.com : il est indiqué que dans la chambre réservée il y a coin salon , coin cuisine , frigo . Chantal explique bien la chambre avec salle de bain privative , télé et coin salon . Et que le petit déjeuner est dans la grande commune au rdv à côté de la cuisine commune.

• 8932w42 (9/5): wie ein Besuch bei Freunden - das Frühstück wurde im Haupthaus serviert von der Dame des Hauses resp. einem Familienmitglied, sehr hübscher Raum liebevoll gedeckt mit ausreichender Auswahl; der Empfang war sehr freundlich; abends wurden wir wie "alte Bekannte" zum Apéro eingeladen in der Runde von Familie und Freunden, sogar ein Nachtessen wurde uns angeboten, die Stimmung war familiär, herzlich, absolut unerwartet für uns als Fremde einziger Punkt als Mangel: fehlender Kühlschrank im Zimmer, im Sommer unabdingbar für ein kühles Getränk während des Tages; die Eckbadewanne konnte leider nur als Dusche benutzt werden

• Chris_66 (9/5): Hidden gem! - A wonderful stay at a magical place! Through the old gate you enter one of the most beautiful hidden gardens we've ever seen in France. Tall handsome trees shade the round garden and the two buildings in the back. Great work on the renovated rooms in the gite. Beautifully stocked with fitting furniture and decorations. Fabulous breakfast with lots of options served by the matron herself. The bed cover was wonderful on one side, but a bit itchy on the other, which together with the matress that was bit hard for my taste, caused a bit of tossing and turning. Otherwise nothing but good things to say about this place!

• Charlotte (10/5): Beautiful building, very comfortable accommodation - A beautiful old building behind the house shown in the first photograph on the listing. In the heart of Craon. Very comfortable room with a huge bath (no shower). Lovely peaceful grounds. We were cycling St Malo to Nice and there was space for our bicycles under cover. We did not meet the host as she was away, unfortunately we did not manage to get the WiFi code from her mother who was there to welcome us when we arrived. Good breakfast-lovely eggs and local ingredients served by a lovely lady. Swimming pool available. Restaurants very limited in Craon on a Monday night-however a good evening meal at the friendly crêperie opposite the château. All good

Lack of reply from host regarding table d'hôte which turned out to be unavailable during our stay. Anyone staying needs to be aware of very limited choice of evening meal in Craon - pizza or crepe. We did not allow that to be a problem and had pizza first night - takeaway and eaten in garden which the host invited us to do, and for other days we had main meal while out and about, purchasing aome picnic items from U-express to eat in the garden in the evening .

• paul (10/5): Hidden gem - What a gem of a place, not easy to find but once you do it’s great with the perfect host Only one issue was the bath not holding the water which is an easy fix other than that I’d recommend the place without hesitation
• Soowein (10/5): An authentic luxury cottage stay - Awesome staff, very thoughtful of your needs and questions. Accommodating hosts as well. Room awesome, clean and ancient vibe (I am so fond of the mix of medieval atmosphere and modern equipment/furniture) which gives a luxury note to it. Bathroom is great as well, bathtub absolutely lit and you can keep the window open without hearing anyone but the nature sounds. I only use cold water but I tried the hot water just in case as well as the heaters, and they work surprisingly fast, even the latest housing options in France sometimes don’t work as good (‘: The noise cancellation and thermal insulation are wonderful, in spite of being an “old” mansion, cottage type of building. Wiiiiide property. Perfect balance between immersive experience (woods, river and birds chirping) and the comfort of a list in the forest property (cosy living rooms with numerous sofas with music listening options, board games, and so on). Very nice swimming pool area. Within walking distance of everything that can come in handy, and yet not a single sound from the city. Good internet connection, either it be data or wifi. A lot of outlets plugging options. The breakfast was a feast, and tbh don’t be like me and skip breakfast cause you woke up too late, but the staff had let it for me to eat even though I was waaaay past time for breakfast or even a brunch. I was ready to just leave it at that but was told that it was for me to eat and there was no problem. Not something to just assume people will do - maybe that was a one time exception due to special circumstances or the business not being too busy that particular time and day - but the fact that I had the opportunity to still eat peacefully all by myself and they brushed it off like it was no problem at all… I thought that was very sweet. Would go back again for a nice chilling retreat! I haven’t come up with any issue or dislike.

• Sharon (10/5): Fabulous. - We had a wonderful, tastefully furnished room in the gite with a luxury bath tub and a super comfortable bed. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and served in a lovely garden room. Chantelle was very welcoming and attentive. We are looking forward to staying again to see the Chateau. We couldn’t find any restaurants open for dinner (it was midweek in March so probably would not be an issue in summer or weekends) So we bought a picnic and a bottle of wine and sat in the gite garden which was perfect.

• Tony (10/5): Terrific - Chantal is a very kind and welcoming host. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Dinner was great, high quality and very tasty, fresh fish and the best scallops I have had in a long time. I felt at home and very relaxed throughout my stay. A real treat.

Malheureusement la plomberie réalisée dans la chambre que nous occupions, n’a pas tenue compte des descentes de l’étage supérieur et le siphon de la douche est régulièrement aspiré ce qui provoque de mauvaises odeurs insupportables. La solution que j’ai trouvée à 04h a été de laisser couler un filet d’eau dans la douche ce qui n’est pas très écologique.
