- david (8/5): - Good breakfast
- Bryan (10/5): Scarborough delight - A nice clean room, which was an upgrade from the original one that I had booked, with a double shower as opposed to the original that would have been a shower over the bath & a bigger room at no extra cost. It was so nice that we extended our stay to an extra night. Our room faced the park at the front, it was so peaceful & the owners were so easy to get on with.
- Ian (10/5): Friendly. Great location - Great location. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast. Very friendly family run business who were really nice to talk too. Would recommend this Hotel.
- Colin (10/5): -
- Lindsay (9/5): - Property is spotless, very comfy beds, breakfast was prompt, we felt very catered for. Location was close to one of the park entrances which makes getting down to north bay very easy. Close to all north bay attractions. Bar onsite that's reasonably priced. Option for unsmoked bacon but appreciate that's a personal preference for the two of us. Nothing to fault, lovely stay.
- Green (8/5): Very good and clean - All good, friendly Missing. // Some fruit and yoghurt, would have been welcome addition, otherwise breakfast fine..
- Keith (10/5): - Nice small hotel in quiet close at the top Peasholm park. Walkable to North Bay attractions, with bus services to town centre and South Bay. Friendly host, good breakfast and clean room. I stayed three nights in a single room, with comfortable four foot bed. Room was compact but had everything I needed for my stay. Good value as well!
- susan (9/5): - Lovely location. Close to peaceful park. Easy walk to beach and open air theatre.
Great eggs at breakfast. Breakfast wasn't as good as hoped. Bread was just supermarket sliced. Artisan or bakery bread would have made a nicer touch.
- christopher (8/5): WAS MADE TO FEEL VERY WELCOME - BREAKFAST WAY VERY GOOD
STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT
- Heather (10/5): A gem in the perfect location - A great little guesthouse. Everything was perfect 👌 Brilliant location, fantastic breakfast, and the hosts were wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Room a good size and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value - Excellent quiet hotel, great value for money. Perfect location for theatre/North Bay beside Peasholm Park. Really friendly staff, comfortable bed/room, lovely breakfast which was just right amount. Enjoyed it so much I booked an extra night! Also as a solo traveller I felt comfortable and safe. Breakfast service only an hour 8.30-9.30 as it’s small but it never felt busy at breakfast & was perfect time for me anyway. Very generous with tea/coffee/milk/sugar rather than just 2 which doesn’t go very far. Replenished every day too, great for me as I drink lots. Addition of hot chocolate was nice too. Will definitely be back.
- Ann (9/5): - Warm welcome, parking right outside, spotlessly clean. Plenty of tea and coffee available and a good breakfast. This is our 2nd stay and we will return. Nothing really.

- Sally (10/5): All round lovely stay - We had a lovely stay at The Russell with friends and family. The owners were friendly, attentive and helpful. The family room (no 6) we stayed in was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Lovely walk in shower with adequate space in the en-suite. Comfy beds, big bay window looking out toward the trees. The lounge area downstairs was very nice and comfortable with a selection of board games for families. There was also a small bar which was open in the evenings and run by the owner who was more than happy to chat and had a large selection of drinks. The breakfast was delicious- very hearty and freshly cooked which set us up for the day ahead. The location of the property is ideal for walking to the North Bay and down through the park, We parked on the driveway and it felt a very safe area with no unwanted noise on an evening.
Will definitely be visiting here again! Thank you very much for your hospitality.

- Angela (4/5): Adults are irrelevant -
Nice location overlooking trees at the rear of Peasholm Park.
We arrived early and we were allowed to check in.
Parked our car on the street approx a few metres away.
Breakfast although not too our tastes was not greasy and we received the well done bacon my hubby had asked for on the first morning of our 3 night stay.
Negatives
We stayed in Room 1. Family Room.
Dusty, and cobwebs everywhere . Tired looking diy decor. Old fashioned stained (Table) furniture with loose handles.
Dirty stained curtains.
IOO we did not like the signage everywhere telling us what we can't do e.g. No hot food to be consumed in the rooms or you will charged £25.However there are take away menus for Kebabs etc.
CCTV cameras inside. We felt like we were being watched and couldn't be trusted. They entered our room while we were out when we had left a do not disturb sign on.
Shower poor , variable heat.No hot water to wash your hands with. We mentioned this and was told they would put the boiler on.They didn't, so we brought it up again.
The owner came to check we mentioned about the window having no restrictor as the wind had opened it fully. I was unable to reach to close it.We were fearful of kids falling out. Owners attitude the room is a triple not a family and we didn't have any kids so being adults it's irrelevant.
OMG the attitude, he said he felt like we were finding things to complain about. We hadn't said anything other than we had no hot water. I hadn't spoke re the decor dust etc.
- Sharon (10/5): - A lovely safe, beautiful and comfortable room, fabulous breakfast. Would highly recommend a stay here.

- Gaynor (9/5): Welcoming and friendly - We were made very welcome and just was very friendly. Nothing
- Elaine (10/5): A good place to stay - The Russell is in an excellent location on the edge of Peasholm Park. It was easy to find and we were able to walk from the hotel without needing to use the car. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was not a problem when we arrived later than we expected.
- Angelica (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place! Great spot if you’re going to a show at the open air theater. The owners were very kind. Highly recommend. WiFi wasn’t the best
- Douglas (9/5): A lovely property with lovely hosts. - Immaculately clean, very comfortable, lovely hosts, it’s own bar. There was absolutely nothing not to like.

A very nice breakfast and even gave us fried bread that we cheekily asked for.

We hope there so early but we were given our key straight away. The room was lovely. Plenty of tea coffee chocolate available. The bathroom was great too.
The location is fab for the open air theatre and only a short taxi ride into town. You are literally at the back of Peasholm park. It’s so quiet and tranquil. Breakfast was great you can change your order by filling in a new card of likes. Thank you so much for a lovely few days Nothing

Amazing breakfast.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): Friendly run establisment worth staying. - The host was friendly and was very helpful. There was nothing that I did not like everything was great
- Scott (10/5): Clean, friendly and well situated. - For us, we like walks, parks, a little silence but then able to get into the busyness of it all, so The Russell was ideally located - with the main centre around 15 mins (shorter) walk (a few mins by car), although you can take full advantage of the sea front walk - as we did - for a brilliant stretch of the legs.
The hotel itself is well situated, a top of the hill, by Peasholm Park top entrance. Early morning walks, back for breakfast at 8:30am was just the ticket. Parking is not that bad either, you can generally grab a space and leave the car without it costing.
It's a B&B - therefore cereals (and juices) and a fully cooked breakfast are on the menu each day, perfect start to the day!
Scarborough is perfect for young family's, especially the park, where you can feed the squirrels, or go on the boating lake! There is also a mini railway and outdoor zone at the North beach, with an excellent restaurant for the evening dinner.
Hotel, clean, quiet, comfortable - we didnt use the bar area, but there is a front room for a rest, with board games if you want to play them,
All in all, as most comments and score indicate - great place!
...we even extended our hols by an additional day!
You wont regret your stay!
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Great little place, thankyou - Lovely hotel run by a lovely friendly couple. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was nice and tasty. Benji the dog was an added bonus 😊
- Lesta_lad (9/5): Lovely! - Friendly hosts
Loved the Christmas decs
Very clean and cosy
Lovely place and would love to come back and enjoy their pub style room!
Breakfast was fab and lovely little gestures, like noting that I had water the day before, so had it ready. Very nice touch: thoughtful and not service you really get anymore! The only criticism really was the amount of signs with warnings on not what to do, which come across a little unfriendly - e.g no hot food in rooms or a £25 fine will apply
- Lawrence (10/5): Great family-run hotel! - Excellent and kind attention to guest needs
- Leftyhicks (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerald (9/5): very pleasant and clean with good breakfast and location for peasholm park and north bay. -
- Salli (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (8/5): A lovely place with a friendly atmosphere. - Not driving, it was a bit of a walk, but well worth the effort. Very welcoming and a comfortable room. The breakfast was very good and the service very efficient. Now that I am familiar with the location, I would return.
- Abdullah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blane (10/5): realley enjoyable - breakfast excellent maybe parking
- John (9/5): Recommended for a peaceful stay. - Decent sized room, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Nice quiet area. Nothing
- Neil (8/5): A lovely B&B for a short break in North Yorkshire. - Excellent breakfast and good location for the North Bay. Lovely park opposite for a morning walk. Car parking was ok during my stay but could be limited if there were more guests.
- Kevin (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Well decorated, comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Folding door to shower room was awkward to use.
- Anthony (10/5): Lovely hotel excellent staff - Breakfast and location Nothing
- Lorraine (10/5): Really enjoyed it - Clean lovely and quiet but close to the amenities Nothing
- Robert (10/5): - If you are looking for a quaint old fashioned inn with character this is great for you. We wanted a small inn with an old world feel and enjoyed our stay. Rooms are clean, but also older and small. Since this is what we expected we were more then happy with it. Breakfast was easy and pleasant. Right across from the park and a short walk to the lake.
No lift so if you have issues with stairs that could be a problem.
Staff were very nice.
