Guest Reviews
- Sebastian (6/5): Improvements needed but overall okay - Der personal was super nice and very supportive. In general, the villa is just very beautiful and comfortable Overall, our stay was okay, mainly thanks to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. However, there are several areas that urgently need improvement and should be addressed more honestly in the listing.
### Cleanliness & Maintenance
- Some of the flooring near the pool and around the villa has become very rotten due to the rain. In certain areas, I genuinely felt uncomfortable stepping on it.
- The pool requires proper cleaning, especially around the inner edges.
- The villa itself could be much cleaner overall.
- The bathroom and especially the bathroom windows should be cleaned thoroughly.
### Kitchen
- The kitchen area for our breakfast looked not very hygienic. Because of this, we did not feel comfortable ordering breakfast every day..
Accuracy of the Listing
- To be fair and transparent, the pictures on Booking.com should definitely be updated.
- The property also does not feel like a 5-star accommodation. In our opinion, a 3-star rating would be more realistic.
Additional Note
- There were occasionally a few geckos inside the villa during our stay. They personally did not bother me, but future guests should know about it in advance if they are sensitive to that.
Positive Aspect
Despite the issues mentioned above, the staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout our entire stay. With some relatively small improvements, this place could offer a much better overall experience.
- G.J. (9/5): Fantastisch! -
- Marie (10/5): Paradise - Such a hidden gem in Ubud, very peaceful and quiet, no noises besides the jungle but walking distance from Ubud center or 15 min Grab car ride. The place is absolutely beautiful and pristine.. The staff so caring .. The pool could have a different filter system than chloride to be chemical free. The small fridge is not cooling enough so I had to throw away lots of fruits. There are steeper steps to reach the property, you have to have good mobility to walk up/down.
- Martin (10/5): Great, quite stay - This was our third stay and we love the location and staff and accommodation in our villa. It’s a pick for Bali and Ubud. Some maintaining could be improved upon - less this start to distract from a great resort
- Claire (10/5): -
- Darren (7/5): - Overall, the property offered good value for money during our stay. It’s situated on the outskirts of Ubud, but the town centre is easily accessible with a short Uber or Grab ride (around 15 minutes without traffic). The facilities are as described. The kitchen was well equipped with enough utensils to prepare simple meals comfortably. The staff were attentive and responded promptly to any requests. While the property is advertised as 5-star accommodation, we felt the facilities didn’t fully meet that standard. The villa complex appeared somewhat dated and would benefit from general upkeep, such as fresh paint and upgrades to furnishings and upholstery.
The reception area, in particular, felt quite rustic and was uncomfortably warm due to the lack of air conditioning or fans. While this may seem like a minor detail, it’s worth noting as it forms guests’ first impression upon arrival.
Additionally, one of the villas shares an entrance with another, so it doesn’t offer complete privacy—something to keep in mind if full seclusion is important to you.
Finally, although we understand the villa’s proximity to a jungle setting, we did notice a higher presence of wildlife indoors compared to other properties. We even had a resident gecko that left droppings in the same spot each day—manageable, but worth mentioning for future guests/maintenance staff.
- Falguni (10/5): - Loved the hospitality, the reach out, the help, the support for just about anything you ask
Beautiful villa. The approach stairs are a little bit of a trek everyday. But rest all is fantastic. The staff is super helpful with luggage assistance etc.
- James (9/5): - Great location, friendly staff. Great big villa with lots of space. Right next to the jungle.
- Tanunchanoke (8/5): Beautiful comfortable villa, have everything you need - So friendly & helpful staff, private with small numbers of guests, sit in the middle of natural scene, not so far from city center. Overall I love it and would like to stay longer …. (The entrance has steep stairs and is not suitable for elderly people with knee osteoarthritis.) If you stay here for many days, breakfast choices will be limited. Some motor bike noises from the street (uncontrolled factor). Beware of
- Natalie (10/5): -
- Şemsettin (6/5): Güzel fakat vadide olduğu için giriş çıkış yoruyor merdivenler çok fazla patika yoldan iniliyor Buda yorucu - Konforlu sakin Merkezden uzak ulaşım yok market yok
- Andrew (1/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): -
- Tatiana (10/5): We enjoyed it and we would like to come back - Beautiful villas (we took 2), even better than in the photos.
+terrace
+view
+swimming pool
+Quiet place
+friendly and willing to help stuff(helped us to order food from restaurants)
+their own app
+delicious breakfast It is better to order taxi from/to Ubud in the evening because it is really dark to walk
- Jess (9/5): -
- Ellyna (10/5): Romantic & quiet jungle retreat - Love the welcome snack, the privacy, the interior of the suite, complimentary mask, breakfast delivered to room. Helpful, polite & responsive staff. The suite & pool west facing, so we got sunset view. Hotel staff helped us to carry our suitcases from the street to our suite. The property descends quite low from the street level, not recommended for people with mobility issues.
- Lisa (10/5): Cloud 9 is really beautiful place to stay, very peaceful and beautifully kept. Stairs were an issue - The staff were lovely. and very attentive
Housekeeping was excellent,
Breakfast was very good
The properties were beautifully kept 94 stairs to access villa, the stairs really put me off and I would think twice about Booking again
No shuttle bus, cost $30aud to get into town centre and back. Even if I shuttle bus was only offered a couple of times a day would be great.
Seat required at the top of the stairs
No restaurant

- Stefan (9/5): -
- Gina (8/5): Gorgeous views, decent service and comfort - The views of campuhan from this location are absolutely stunning. You're enveloped in the jungle while still a short ride from central Ubud. The space is aesthetic in almost all white, and they add fresh flowers to the room. The pool is a comfortable temperature overlooking the ridge. I'd definitely say this is more of a 4-star at most in terms of comfort and service. Vegans should seek outside breakfast or plan to cook as there's no oat milk for coffee and the fruit wasn't fresh and juice is bottled from concentrate. While the team is rather attentive, I requested to be texted about cleaning, etc and even so there was often someone knocking on my door with no heads up. The furniture is pretty though I didn't find it very comfortable. The most interesting lizards live in the villas and in their roofs, and they do leave droppings all about. The largest I saw was almost a yard! That was new for me even though I've stayed in many other natural places in bali. Overall if you're into views and don't expect a 5-star this is a decent stay, but I personally found it overpriced for what it offers.
- Bartosz (10/5): -
- Karim (10/5): Great stay - Beautiful environment.
Tidy and Clean.
Very friendly and caring staff.
Good breakfast.
Nice pool.
And again
Beautiful environment! I liked everything. You do have to take into account:
Many stairs to get to your stay.
You have to walk directly on the road if you want to go by foot.
- Дмитрий (Dmitrii) (10/5): -
- Gary (9/5): We loved our stay at Cloud Nine and would highly recommend to family and friends. - Beautiful setting ! Nothing to do with Cloud Nine but the main road in and out needs desperate repair !
- Amanda (8/5): One with nature! - It was a lovely spacious apartment with a beautiful bathroom and facilities The bathroom is open to the elements so I was worried about mossies biting me while I showered. There were geckos inside the apartment including large ones that do large poos which drop from the ceiling onto anything...seems like something to be aware of before booking
- Thomas (9/5): Don’t miss out on staying if you can! - Stunning villa, spoiled by the staff and made to feel like you’re at home.
Breakfast & afternoon tea a complete treat!
- Abay (10/5): Unforgettable stay with a view to the forest - The staff! They were so accomodating, so nice and helpful. Amazing guys🥰 Nothing, it was perfect, PERFECT!
- Natasha (10/5): A perfect stay at Cloud Nine - Nyoman and his team are fantastic. As a solo traveller I felt very at home and well looked after. I will miss my evening night mask and the delicious banana pancakes!! Thank you for a fab stay, I loved Ubud and Cloud Nine <3
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noémi (10/5): Peaceful and charming property in a breathtaking environment - Spacious, clean and very well designed. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Perfect for a chill and peaceful stay close to downtown. Only if I really want to be picky, I would say a gym would have been nice to have, but even without it was super.
- Qing (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic quiet retreat - Amazing setting, overly friendly staff they honestly could not do more for you. The best service we had in Ubud by far. No traffic noises, can order in easily, only a quick grab to town. The staff will organise absolutely anything you need to be brought to you. Can walk into town across the ridge in about 45min. Traffic to get to town. But honestly that is everywhere if you are out of the town centre. There is plenty of options around if you don't want to venture to the centre
- Andrew (5/5): Overpriced - disappointing lack of breakfast. - Quiet No breakfast provided - unable to accommodate breakfast at 0730. Waste of money - 6 breakfast paid for but not provided.
- Priit (8/5): Very good -
- Melanie (9/5): Peaceful get away and we definitely found peace there. - Very tranquil. Beautiful pool area and the room was extremely nice and quiet. Delicious breakfast, even when you have to decide the day before what you would like to eat.
Bed was cosy and the best sleep in a long time. They provide both only shower gel and shampoo but conditioner and sheet masks and lotions as well. Yoga mat in the room too. Lovely stuff. Tons of birds and animals around the hotel. Little extras which made the stay special like afternoon tea and a bamboo box in the room. We knew it would be a bit out of town, but you cannot go by feet without be confronted with tons of cars on a very shabby road. The ridge walk is around the corner, but to get there you need to be a little bit adventurous. To get to the hotel you will have to pass a lot of stairs. Some of them sloppy and high. Not very comfortable for elder or parents.
- Viktorija (10/5): Most cozy, feels like home - It looks like in a picture! amazingly cozy, comfortable, every detail is perfect!! Breakfast was PERFECT!Staff very friendly!
No bad word for this place! Thank you for everything☺️
- Yvonne (10/5): Outstanding and Beautiful 🌴🌟 - Best hotel in Bali I stayed! The high quality and outstanding service of their lovely team made my stay unforgettable!
Beautiful location, they bring you afternoon tea and in the early evening they prepare your room for the night, including eye and face masks and breakfast is delicious!
Thank you Nyoman and your great team! Nothing!
Just know you need your own transportation as it’s 6 to 8km from center. If you’re not comfortable driving a scooter just take a Grab or Gojek scooter also great!
- Michael (10/5): Living it up on Cloud Nine - What’s not to like about Cloud nine. For us the location was amazing. Sure, it’s. 20 bike ride into Ubud, but at cloud nine you are living in the jungle. Peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff and seriously the best breakfast delivered to your room. You get a daily clean, even g bed turn and the staff check on you each evening to ensure you return home safely. We just loved everything about our villa. You need to have a scooter to get around as you are about 8 km from Ubud. If you don’t mind hiring a scooter, then the location is superb to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. There are also many good Warungs close by and this is a great area to stay and enjoy Ubud.
- Felix (10/5): Luxurious hotel in the heart of the jungle - Cloud Nine Estate in Ubud is a true gem nestled in the jungle. The outstanding location offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. Their attention to detail is remarkable, making every moment luxurious. Each morning, a delicious breakfast is delivered right to your apartment, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend Cloud Nine Estate for an unforgettable jungle getaway!

- Explorer63601537988 (10/5): Fabulous is all I can say - The hotel was fabulous, gorgeous, quiet location, fabulous accommodation, amazing breakfast brought to our room, along with a lovely light tea in the afternoon. Couldn’t fault the service. As it’s up in the forest, you can walk into the town centre, however the heat did get to us. We took a taxi to and from the town centre, which was extremely busy. We were very glad to be on the outskirts.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent great views FANTASTIC room and service Long walk down the steps.
- Cassandra (10/5): Highly recommended - The staff, villa, food and location were amazing! What a magical experience. I only wish we had booked more than 2 nights.
- eatliveandtravel (10/5): Top Service in Bali - Cloud Nine Estate, Bali

- N6667BZnicoleb (2/5): 1* at best, management dishonest and appalling, dirty, trust the 1*'s you read - This hotel utterly ruined our honeymoon. Deceitful, dishonest and manipulative management - I wish I had taken the 1* reviews seriously, they were honest.
This property is advertised as a 5* boutique hotel and is 1* at best. I've stayed over 6 months in Balinese hotels from 1*-5* and I honestly say the service of this hotel was appalling - the worst I've experienced. Staff had no level of service or even conversation. We had advised the property it was our wedding and honeymoon and they did nothing to celebrate, I had to ask 5 times just to get breakfast for our wedding morning arranged. Our clothes went mouldy, shower pressure was bad, place was dirty - especially by the pool, cigarette burns on outdoor furniture. Construction was ongoing.
Even though we had put on the booking notes that we were on honeymoon and asked if they could do something special, they did nothing to celebrate our special time. When we shared we didn't feel special, they promised they would do something for when we arrived back from our wedding. They didn't, even though I had messaged them to say we were on our way back. When I complained, the management team handled our complaint appallingly, blaming my husband for his 'miscommunication' (even though it was me who had communicated) and then blaming external circumstances, and my 'expectations' (which were really just wanting flowers decorating our bed as you'd typically get in a 5* boutique hotel!). She told me I should have booked a 'honeymoon service' if I wanted special treatment! We spent 8 hours of our honeymoon in discussion, and she kept messaging me when I asked her to stop. She offered a refund to apologise but backtracked and offered it only if we *left* the property - we were basically told to leave and had to research other places to stay (in high season!) and pack our entire villa on our honeymoon after our nice meal out. It ruined our honeymoon.
They promised 3 nights refund and didn't provide it, lied saying booking.com didn't allow the refund (untrue) and used photos of my own bridal bouquet as photo evidence to booking.com to say they had made us feel special! Awful.

- Sarthak (10/5): Cloud nine estate - Everything excellent from our villa , pool, breakfast Nothing
- Joyce (9/5): It was everything and more than what I expected! - Environment was tranquil, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Although the location of the estate was tucked away, it was exactly what I was looking for.
Breakfast was served in the villa every morning and there was complimentary afternoon tea with a local delight.
During turndown service each evening, there would be a set of eye or facial masks given. Truly indulging!
Lastly, the team of staff on property was excellent, providing the right level of attention and service. I would definitely recommend a stay at Cloud Nine!
- Cassandra (9/5): Superb -
- Muthumal (10/5): Amazing! If you wanna chill among the trees and wanna feel like you are on cloud nine this the place to choose in Ubud, -
- Katrin (9/5): Superb - We had such a great time at cloud 9 estate. The staff is super super sweet and kind , the breakfast was very delicious and the jungle view priceless. We had a blast and want to thank our fantastic hosts 🙏🏻
- Lorraine (10/5): Perfect and big thank you to Nyoman and team - Quality of service and environment was excellent
Breakfast menu choice was exceptional and options to order in for dinner was varied and great quality
Nothing was too much trouble
Massage and pick up was wonderful
Our second time of staying at cloud 9 did not disappoint we were there for a week
- Prayag (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (7/5): Good -
- Alessia (10/5): Fantastic people amazing venues. - People’s kindness and venue. It was amazing. Just few extra care to stop insects.
- Jennene (9/5): Superb -
- Syed (8/5): Great weekend getaway - A very nice place for a weekend getaway. Very nice and spacious room with a view of the forest, away from the street noise. The staff are excellent. Very good location, 10 minutes from Ubud center. Comfortable bed. Room Breakfast on the balcony is a great way to start and enjoy the day. The only suggestion would be curtains which block outside light.
- Maris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alycia (1/5): Bad -
- Valéria (10/5): Exceptional - The peace and quiet I needed. The service is great. Everyone is helpful and nice. Place is really clean and the sound of the jungle is amazing.
- missxchris (10/5): Beautiful, romantic, and blissful - home away from home! - Absolutely incredible. Beautifully presented and maintained villas, with a small but lovely pool which we had to ourselves the whole time. The staff were exceptional, always willing to help. My favourite thing was the daily breakfast - hands down amazing. Get the banana pancake, it will not disappoint! The added inclusion of afternoon tea was very sweet. Very romantic and perfect for a couple. The location is out of Ubud centre, but you are surrounded by the jungle & every morning I had to pinch myself! Only a 10 minute scooter ride into the centre of Ubud which is no hassle at all. I loved every moment of my stay at Cloud Nine, and I will stay here again if I ever come back to Ubud!
The only small negative was the stairs! No one warned me about the stairs! It was a workout everyday to leave the villa, and coming back after dark can be a little dangerous. However, I chose to see it as a way to get a little fitness into my holiday! We are a couple in our mid 30s who have a very regular gym routine, so it wasn't an issue, but it could be for some people - especially the elderly or anyone with injuries.
Also, the local geckos visit every night and leave you little droppings on the floor! Be careful not to stand in them when you get up each morning. The staff would always clean this up on the daily room service.
- Christine (9/5): Beautiful, romantic, and blissful - home away from home! The stairs! No one warned me about the stairs! It was a workout everyday to leave the villa, and coming back after dark can be a little dangerous. - Deborah (10/5): Beautifully decorated villa with stunning jungle views and incredible service! - We stayed in ‘Star Cloud’, which is very spacious and private, beautifully decorated and has the best view! All the staff are very kind & friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We loved the beautifully decorated breakfasts and afternoon tea, the turndownservice and little details like a cake for new years. We asked for a babycot for our little girl and were surprised with all kinds of baby extra’s like a babychair, babybath & baby cutlery. So welcoming! We hope to be back!
- Shrutkeerti (10/5): Great place to stay. - The property itself with the forest views, the room and the light interiors, and the property cat Cloudy. Lack of food facilities but the property was helpful to bring the food at an additional charge if ordered by 8 pm
- Harryprad (7/5): Good - The architecture was very good with facilities provided Lot of mosquitoes. Need yo work on these alot, putting a mosquitoe coil will not serve this. May be you add fly screens.
Also lot of flies inside the house and ants.
Which made the stay not so good to be honest.
- Ruud (8/5): Great place to stay. Breakfast, service, view, clean. But be prepared to walk a lot of stairs. - Beautiful location, near Jungle. Great breakfast. Beautiful view. Clean apartment. Great bed. Stairs,
- Dudani (5/5): Beautiful property very poorly maintained - Property was very pretty and and a good view Steps to property are slippery and broken. The hotel is situated on a very busy road and walking from and to the restaurants nearby was a challenge.
My room has a resident gekho that woke me up every night with a loud noise. Pooped every day in the room. Every night the room floor was covered in insects.
Now that I took time to read other reviews I see the gekho issue reported way back in early ‘22. That means the owners are aware of this issue but are not doing anything about it. Even their staff told us to comment about it. Will communicate this to the Bali Tourism board.
Definitely not a 5 star hotel, my other 3 star hotel is better.
- Breahna (10/5): Scenic and relaxing jungle paradise - The property was gorgeous, nestled down in the jungle giving it a very exotic and peaceful feel. The location is a nice distance away from central Ubud, however everything you might need is easily accessible including spa, dining, and refreshment options. The staff were extremely helpful, courteous, and respectful. Overall, Cloud Nine offered an experience to remember and we could not recommend it more. From the little touches, like the welcome drink, to the thoughtful perks, such as the awesome pool view or delicious breakfast, this made an amazing place for a honeymoon. A big thank you to the team. Nil
- Lisa (10/5): Wonderful stay! They went above and beyond to make sure I had a nice birthday! - Everything was wonderful, (except the steps down to the property ),beautiful hotel! The steps could be a problem if someone had mobility issues
- Amanpreet (8/5): Regardless of geckos the stay was good - The place was beautiful and amazing. Its beautifully set with a backdrop of a jungle. Rooms were clean and comfy and the breakfast was amazing. Staff friendly and helpful. Worth the proce The only thing geckos! We had a massive sized gecko outside our room which would come inside from the roof at night. I was terrified of the size as i have never seen that size before. When we would wake up in the morning, there was always gecko poo on the floor every morning. Thank god we had a mosquito net around the bed.
Also the gecko would be loud and noisy every night around 3am. I woke up every single day around that time to strange gecko loud noises.
- Emma (10/5): Blissful beautiful would stay many times again - Beautiful rooms stunning locations. So blissful. Kind staff Nothing
- Potter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay at Cloud Nine, it was peaceful being away from the busyness of Ubud and set in such a beautiful location. The Villa was huge, much bigger than we expected, and was really well appointed. The pool was stunning overlooking the view and felt very private. The Villa felt very private and we barely saw other guests. It was a short walk up to a little street with some warungs and a lovely walk into Ubud along the ridge walk. Would definitely stay here again.
- Elisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Beautiful stay with great attention to detail - Beautiful accommodation! Exactly how it looks in pictures. Staff were amazing. Breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious and we loved the attention to detail - presentation of the food and setting of the table. Cleaning was thorough and 'turn down' service each night to prepare our room was such a lovely touch. The pool was beautiful and a hit with our kids. We loved how relaxing the accommodation was - away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. They will order food for you (dinner/lunch) and have it sent to your room for a small cost and set it up at your dining table for you. There was some very loud music (a concert I think?) the first night and it was hard to sleep - obviously out of their control though. We had a gecko (I assume large by the sound it made) in the ceiling that would wake us out of our sleep and poo on the bedroom floor. Even though they knew we had a 2 and 4 year old in the booking they had no beds prepared and it was late when we arrived. I would email and ask. They were more than happy to set up a porta cot and the window couch but will charge extra for older children if you ask for an extra bed. It is a 20min taxi drive and I wouldn't like to ride a bike/walk it but it's easy to get a taxi using the Grab app.
- Sunil (9/5): Had a great time - Breakfast was great All good
- Heather (5/5): I wouldn't stay there again. There are much better options. - It had a cute vibe and felt spacious and was very private and quiet. I was shocked that there was only 1 air con for the whole unit. there needed to be another one downstairs for proper comfort in Bali heat.
Looks better in the photos.
- Ruan (10/5): Amazing. - Staff super friendly, Villa amazing. No faults
- Mary (10/5): My favourite place on earth - It’s the small things that count with this beautiful estate. Greetings and you come back from your day “welcome home” or the estate cat cloudy that gives you the comforts of being away. The location is 10/10 visually stunning Nothing. I can’t say one bad thing about this place
- Listiani (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Andreea (9/5): A serene location in the jungle. - Small facility, with nice secluded villas, very private. The staff is very forthcoming and nice. We loved the outdoor bathroom. The geckos were a bit scary the first night, because there was a big one on the ceiling, but they don’t do anything but make some noise…and poop 😉
- Batra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (10/5): Beautiful villa in UBUD! - Such a beautiful villa! Amazing location, stunning pool. The villa was lovely a cool, with such high ceilings, air con wasn’t really needed. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend, would definitely come back
- Ali (10/5): Magical environment - The setting, the staff, the room, the service. Everything.
- Anonymous (10/5): An exquisite estate in the beautiful area of Ubud with an extremely helpful and talented staff to give you a beautiful e - Cloud Nine is truly how I would describe this beautiful estate. The entire location is quiet, filled with the sounds of wildlife and streams of water, and minimalist beauty and decor. The room was exquisite- helpful amenities, a beautiful bay window with comfy seat overlooking the gorgeous pool, and a lovely outdoor seating area. Breakfast and tea time were incredibly designed and delicious. The staff were beyond accommodating and made me feel at home and very well taken care of. They made extra accommodations to stave off mosquitos especially in the evenings. While it is located a few minutes from the center of Ubud, it was easy to get to by taxi. Don’t try to walk to town by foot- it’s very dangerous due to narrow roads. I pray that I am able to come back to Ubud and stay here again! What an incredible place and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend to anyone! Nothing- this place was perfection!
- Angus (10/5): Exceeded all expectations - The attention to detail in the villa and level of care for guests is to the highest of standards.
They arranged driver (Herry) who was brilliant throughout our stay in Ubud.
We stayed in multiple villas during our time in Bali and Cloud 9 surpassed others even when they were much more expensive. Would certainly stay here again. No restaurant or food available on site, although the breakfast provided is good and many great options to eat out nearby.
- Saeeda (10/5): Exceptional - Great choice and good quality and beautiful presentation Nothing !
- Lauren (9/5): Superb - Staff were attentive. Yummy and creative food. Nice private venue. Ordering in food worked well. Location needs a car. Ubud is extremely busy.
