• Helen (5/5): Funkar om man bara ska sova en natt, prisvärt! - Vi fick uppdaterade rum till Star helt överraskande och det uppskattades. Bekväma sängar, rena sängkläder. Fin och rymligt badrum. Man kunde lämna väskor före incheckning. Svagt belysning, smala trappor - man måste vara försiktig med att gå nerför. Man kan inte låsa från utsidan, skapar otryggt att lämna värdesaker om man ska ut.

• NicoleChenXi (6/5): While the rest of the stay was fine, this interaction affected my overall impression. - Overall, I had a satisfactory stay and the accommodation met my basic expectations in terms of comfort and cleanliness. However, I did have an unpleasant experience during my stay that is worth mentioning. After taking a shower, I was using the hair dryer when the landlord knocked on the door and asked me to stop using it immediately, saying I had been using it for too long. This felt quite uncomfortable and intrusive, as I would expect to be able to use standard amenities like a hair dryer without interruption.

• María (4/5): Good location but poor safety - The location was really good, close to the city centre. I stayed at be house with a friend for holidays. We had seen some bad comments the owner dismissed by saying people who wrote them were drunk or worse. I have to say after having stayed there I believe them all. There are no locks in the house. You can only lock your door from the inside. So leaving your belongings while visiting the city seems a little bit dangerous. Also, the front door can be easily opened from the outside for everyone anytime, which can also be kind of dangerous. I mean, one thing is not offering luxury for the price you pay but this is something completely different. We're from Spain and it was a little bit too cold in the room for us, and after asking the owner for more blankets or more heating power he said "there was central heating flowing through the house". The heater was at the highest level and it was literally cold. Thus, we believe he just didn't want to switch on the central heating. Finally, we asked if he could provide us some blankets for the night, but he told us that if we were cold, we could put more clothes on. Luckily, no one broke into the house and we could survive the night.

• ingrid (4/5): Mooie locatie maar niet voor mijn doelgroep qua accomodatie - Locatie Het “bed” bleek op de grond te zijn en op de tweede verdieping met trappen waarop je je heel slecht kon vasthouden aan de leuning. Overal stoot je je hoofd op die kamer. Er waren nog genoeg andere geschiktere kamers vrij toen ik kwam, die waren aan jonge mensen vergeven bleek en die ook nog eens n hoop herrie maakten in de nacht en in de vroege ochtend. De host speelde vanaf aankomst (14 u) tot 17.15 u op zijn piano die keihard door het hele pand galmde. (Wetende dat ik echt even moest rusten met n hersenschudding en na 4,5 uur autorijden) ik beet maar even op mijn tong want de minste kritiek werd meteen afgesnauwd bleek bij ontvangst… Ik ben van ellende maar even buiten gaan lopen terwijl daar het niet t weer voor was ….

• fRenZo_ (8/5): Artist's home. A bit spooky at night. - This house offers a truly out-of-the-ordinary experience. The owner is an artist who seems to struggle a bit with his well-being, but he is genuinely a good, kind-hearted person. He lives there and he expects you to adapt to him, do not expect the other way around. The house is central, making it incredibly easy to walk around and explore Bruges. It is a beautiful home, full of charm and character. There is no proper lock on the bedroom door. Right now, there is only a flimsy plastic latch made with a 3D printer, which doesn't provide much peace of mind. The light inside the room is quite gloomy and depressing, which doesn't do the space justice. If it weren't for these two practical inconveniences with the lock and the lighting, I would have easily given this place a 9. Moreover, you have to bring your own towels.

Quoique ça doit être personnel, juste ne vous attendez pas à avoir un éclairage digne d’un concert au stade de France. Mais plutôt une installation de lumière très tamisée qu on pourrait même qualifier de typique puisque Bruges est une ville de clair obscur et qui se laisse enveloppée dans la pénombre propre a cette région dès le nuit tombée .
• Danielle (1/5): Extremely uncomfortable and not emotionally safe - The location and price are great but this does come at a high price. I booked for two nights and only stayed for one night because i was feeling quite anxious and scarred regarding the host. I manged to sneak out and get a taxi to a more safe place. The host has a good home he has done well in setting up but his moods switch on and off you you’re walking on eggshells trying to not to upset him. He is also extremely inappropriately wanting to hug and kiss you. One minute he is angry with you the next he wants to date you. Also his need for constant attention and validation is tiring. I gave him loads of chances and even went out for food that he also controlled what i was to eat. I let that go! He can be charming and friendly at times and he crosses so many boundaries. He told me things i really did not feel comfortable in knowing about his personal romantic life. I actually went out for food with him so I would be in a public space. There was moments of feeling that it was okay and maybe he is just a little different but that is the manipulation and cohersive behaviour he has. I should have left his house in the first few minutes of meeting him. When I arrived he was extremely rude then trying to gaslight me into me being tired. I have so much to say on this guy and i really don’t want to give him anymore of my time. I know he will respond to this and deny it all! I suggest read the reviews from back from a year or so ago the older reviews (which I read later on, I only read the more recent reviews) there are more accurate. The host has many different sides of him. He told me to put my phone in the safe and for me to go and have a nap. He later told me that he said that incase I made a complaint about him on Booking.com because of his extremely rude greeting. He kept trying to discourage me from going out and wanted me to make pie with him. Have dinner with him and more. I will not read his response or his threats from his review as I’ve wasted enough time on this. There should be more safeguard ing for Woman around all this. I did not find it would be helpful go to the police but it would be helpful if Booking.com had more safeguarding for girls and wowmen in these situations.

• Sabrina (1/5): A fuir, une vraie source de stress pour mon séjour. - L'emplacement était parfait, à quelques minutes du centre historique de Bruges. Des serviettes sont disponibles dans la salle de bain, et le personnel est gentil. Malheureusement ce sont les seuls points positifs que j'ai pu relever. Les portes n'ont pas de poignée de porte et ne ferment pas à clé, n'importe qui dans la rue peut entrer dans votre chambre à tout moment. Le gérant m'a garanti qu'il n'y avait aucune criminalité dans le quartier et qu'il y a une clé dans une box à l'entrée du logement pour verrouiller la porte principale, mais la personne qui m'a accueillie m'a dit que la porte restait ouverte H24. Ce sont des espèces de barres en fer tenues par un élastique, et j'avais trouvé un moyen de la glisser dans le cadre de la porte pour maintenir la porte fermée. A mon retour, la porte était grande ouverte... A partir du moment où nous louons une chambre, elle est censée devenir privée. Je trouve intolérable que quelqu'un puisse entrer dans ma chambre quand je ne suis pas là. J'ai dormi sur un matelas à même le sol. J'ai 40 ans, c'était difficile de pouvoir me lever sans me faire mal au dos. Pas de lit, seulement un sommier avec matelas par terre. La propreté est à revoir. A mon arrivée, j'ai trouvé une auréole sur mon oreiller (de transpiration ?) et j'ai donc dû fermer les yeux et retourner l'oreiller. Il y avait aussi des détritus au sol, et des éclaboussures d'origine inconnue au mur. Et je ne parlerai pas de la poussière. Je ne suis pas maniaque en temps normal, mais à partir du moment où je dois dormir au sol, je m'attends à avoir un lit propre et que le sol soit nettoyé. Il y a une salle de bain commune, et la femme de ménage est restée 1h dedans pour le nettoyage. Mais il était 20h30. Donc pas de douche ni toilettes à une période où on aimerait se laver. Les chambres ne pas sont dispo avant 16h, donc pourquoi faire le ménage après cet horaire, nous empêchant d'accéder à la SDB ? J'ai payé environ 40€ la nuit. C'est un trop mauvais rapport qualité/prix.

The toilet was not very clean, and the room was cold. We remained only one night, for long term stay absolutely not recommended. The position is the only plus, it is in the city center.

No hay camas, son colchones tirados en el suelo. Ni armario, nada, lo justo para pasar una noche. Las habitaciones no tienen cerradura. Si hay más personas en la casa pueden entrar sin problema a tu habitación. Limpieza bastante escasa. No es para nada lo que sale en las fotos, la ropa de cama tirada encima, ni sábanas ni nada. Escaleras para subir al segundo piso muy estrechas. El precio es por la ubicación, por el resto no lo vale.

You need to read the subtext of the listing very carefully. If you don't, you might think you have your own bathroom, toilet, and towels. The bathroom and toilet are shared, and towels are extra. They can clean at 11 pm, but you can't get coffee until 8 am. They might suddenly appear in their underwear to wake up guests. They might say you're only allowed one coffee a day. They speak in a scolding tone. There's an uncomfortable mattress on the floor, and no wardrobe to store your belongings. Most importantly, there's no lock on your bedroom door. You have to trust them. The stairs are quite narrow and steep. If you're elderly, it's difficult to carry your suitcase. It's located relatively close to the center, on a quiet street. I would never choose this place again.

• Amanda (7/5): Perfectly suitable for a short stay, in a great location. Value for money. - I'd say this is a quirky property, with sufficient facilities to suit your needs. Its has a perfect location, in a quiet area, and it is easily accessible to walk anywhere within the town. It has secure entry system, (so long as folks remember to leave the key back in the secure box). Johannes was a quiet, but friendly chap and left plenty of info about Bruges, available for you to use. Being of an older age, I wasn't so keen on the low level (floor level) beds nor the graffiti style decor of the room. However it is not offensive, just tends to perhaps suit a younger generation, my daughter, whom I shared with, was quite happy with it. I'm also not a fan of not being able to lock my room, when not in the room, however, there are only a few guest rooms and guests, and to be fair, it was easy enough to keep anything of value on myself at all times, and it actually did feel quite safe staying there.

Cumplió con las expectativas. - Es cerca al centro histórico, es cómodo, es acorde el precio vs calidad, las instalaciones son limpias y el vecindario es tranquilo y silencioso. Puedes llegar a la hora que quieras y puedes abrir tu mismo sin necesidad de golpear o despertar a otros. Algunas luces no funcionaban o no se encontró el interruptor y tocaba con linterna de celular para subir a la habitación.

Pudimos utilizar la cocina y aunque el frigorífico es un poco pequeño, nos resolvió conservar la comida la noche que estuvimos. También nos permitió guardar el equipaje durante varias horas después del check out. Las indicaciones y el acceso son muy sencillas. Está en el corazón de la ciudad, recomendamos ir a todas partes andando y perderse por sus preciosas calles.

• Elena (1/5): Experiencia nefasta - Nada. Nuestra experiencia fue nefasta. Somos dos chicas jóvenes que llegamos el 20 de agosto de 2025 a las 14:00 h. El anfitrión nos envió las instrucciones de acceso apenas una hora antes. Al intentar entrar no entendimos el sistema de apertura (una cinta en la puerta) y, al pedir ayuda, el anfitrión salió de muy malas formas, reprochándonos no haber leído bien y que no habláramos inglés. Según sus instrucciones, hasta las 20:00 h la puerta se abría tirando de esa cinta, y después mediante un código que daba acceso a una caja con las llaves. Aun así, la situación inicial ya fue muy incómoda. Al dejar nuestras cosas en la habitación, lo primero que hizo fue cobrarnos una “tasa” de 8 € y pedirnos expresamente que le pusiéramos una buena reseña, alegando que no entendía por qué otros huéspedes le habían valorado mal. La habitación no reunía condiciones mínimas: • No tenía luz, solo una pequeña lámpara. • Había un agujero enorme en la pared, apenas cubierto con una tablilla, por donde entraba aire. • No nos proporcionó toallas. • La puerta de la habitación no tenía cierre por fuera, solo un cerrojo muy precario por dentro. Decidimos quedarnos pese a todo. Sin embargo, al regresar a las 23:00 h tras visitar Brujas, encontramos la puerta principal abierta y la caja de seguridad vacía, sin llaves dentro. Le escribimos inmediatamente, pero no respondió. Ante la inseguridad de la situación, buscamos otro hotel y pedimos ayuda a una persona que hablaba español para recoger nuestras pertenencias. Al volver, apareció el anfitrión en ropa interior, aparentemente borracho. Cuando le explicamos que nos íbamos porque no cumplía con las condiciones mínimas de seguridad, reaccionó increpandonos. Al salir, nos gritó que por la tarde todo estaba bien y que ahora habíamos “arruinado todo”. En definitiva: la peor experiencia de nuestra vida viajando. Pasamos la noche con miedo, tuvimos que pagar un nuevo hotel y en ningún momento sentimos seguridad ni un trato correcto.

The room, that we have paid for three nights, was on the third floor without an elevator, something we didn't know because the host didn't inform us. 3. The door of the room has no the ability to be locked, so our stuff was unprotected. 4. There were no towels and when we found them on another floor, they had bad smell. 5. Under these circumstances, my wife and I left the "hotel" and we went to another hotel for three nights (180 euros per night). 6. For our unpleasant and inhuman experience, we want our money back and we will sue the host of be house for the hassle and the mental pain.

His approach is based on trust and friendliness, which made us feel more like friends visiting than just travelers passing through. The house also contains lots of interesting objects and messages from previous visitors, which is cute. It was the perfect place for our 2-night stay. It would have been good to have some extra loo roll. The security situation is a bit iffy (with no working front door lock), but there is a safe for valuables downstairs. It didn't bother us too much and the area seemed super safe, but something to be aware of if you're worried about that kind of thing.

The “take of your shoes” is very amazing, until you notice there is only a pair of slippers for all guests (the floor was freezing and we were without shoes). The bedrooms DO NOT HAVE A LOCKER FOR YOU TO LOCK THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. Our was small, with only a lamp working, but it was kinda ok UNTIL suddenly a guy came and told us he was booked for the same room as us. We called the property owner and he told us to move to another room (clearly occupied by someone else!!!!!!) and finally he told us to move to the “big room”, where the room light and heater didn’t work and the bed clothes were filthy. All this with the property owner laughing at our complains. There was not a lot of kitchenware available and what was available was really dirty and disgusting (we ate our pizza on top of the pizza boxes cause there was only a small plate that was available and clean). The bin was nowhere to be seen inside, we found it outside full and with two full garbage bags on the side. The shared bathroom was ok, but with all we saw in the kitchen we thought the “clean” towels that were there (not even folded) were not to be trusted, so we had to dry our bodies to pieces of clothes we brought with us. To finish this feedback, let me tell you about a call I received from the owner asking me (demanding, actually) to fold the towels for the rest of the guests. When he understood I refused to fold the towels, the asked to speak with my male friend and told me I was a “difficult girl” for saying no to him.

• Roselien (7/5): Balanced review of Be House - Very good location. Simple but functional room. Artsy but nice. Everything worked. Big (shared) bathroom. Very good value for money (can't really beat that) and a quiet street. Also quiet house in the evening. Good communication with the host, also got a tip about a free shuttle service from him. The room and bed was clean, except the floor. It could do with vacuming and swiffering. The host tried to tell me how to use the lock on the door, probably well meant but came across a bit brusque. Also he claimed it was my fault something had fallen down, but I hadn't even touched it. When I explained it was okay though. Too bad the room couldn't be locked from the outside.

• Alan (9/5): Superb - I liked the fact that the accommodation was quite close to everything ، it was also exactly as described. The host was welcoming, while the house itself had clearly been well looked after. The stairs in the house are quite narrow.
