- Rae (9/5): Relaxing, understated luxury - Beautiful building, tastefully restored with careful final touches such as furniture choice.
Staff were amazing, they cleaned and tidied our room each day so that it was immaculate when we got back at the end of the day. The pool was gorgeous, lovely big pool towels were provided. The location is excellent, you have Es Castell a 10 minute walk away with the best restaurants and bars, beautiful marina and excellent walks in both directions from the hotel. Our shower kept losing pressure but that is the only hindrance to our time spent here.

- Bosba (8/5): -
- Jordina (9/5): - Esmorzar deliciós. Molt bona ubicació.

- Geoffrey (7/5): Just what we wanted - Off season so difficult to say as we only wanted accommodation Given that it was off-season, it was fine
- Paula (8/5): -
- Carolina (8/5): Muy agradable.

- Alexandra (10/5): AN IDYLLIC PLACE - My stay here was truly delightful. The room was warm, inviting, and impeccably clean, with thoughtful touches that made it feel both comfortable and authentic. The breakfast I had was amazing — fresh produce, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The pool area was serene and well-kept, offering a lovely spot to relax and unwind.
What made the experience even more special was the beautiful green space surrounding the property. It felt like a little sanctuary, with cats and even tortoises peacefully wandering about, adding a touch of charm and magic to the atmosphere. Above all, the hospitality stood out —
A huge Thanks to Mario, Jimena, and Natalia that made my stay unforgettable - always available, attentive and genuinely kind.
Altogether, my stay blended comfort, nature, and heartfelt hospitality in the most wonderful way.
- Billie (8/5): Enjoyable and peaceful and totally relaxing - Lovely location with views of the sea and port and surrounding countryside. Beautiful pool and the fact that there were only 8 rooms so there was never any overcrowding. There was no lift from the ground floor to the hotel entrance and the floors above. As the hotel is situated on an elevated site with a lot of steps and steep pathways it was somewhat difficult in rather hot weatther to bring our suitcase into our room so we left it in our car and just chose our clothes this way. We had a smaller case for toiletries.

- Laura (10/5): Mario and his sisters are absolutely fabulous and make a stay at Son Granot a real pleasure. - Lovely hotel, great location, beautiful setting.
- Jess (9/5): Fabulous gem of a hotel - Hotel was beautiful, as were the grounds and the rooms. Mario and Aine were super helpful and friendly and there is a lovely independent restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast was peaceful and delicious, and the pool area is stunning. Make sure you have a car and explore the local area, although there are some nice places within a 15 minute walk. Also this is hotel with limited staff presence and only an honesty bar with water and beers, although the guys are on hand via whatsapp, but if you prefer a more serviced hotel with 24/7 staff bear this in mind.
- M1917LWjustinem (10/5): An oasis of quiet and charm - The Son Granot hotel is a true piece of paradise. The setting of the establishment is idyllic, and there is a gentle and peaceful atmosphere.
We slept in a charming old building decorated with great taste. Our room was very comfortable and the bedding was of good quality. The temperature there was always pleasant despite the summer heat. Special mention for the excellent bathroom products with delicate fragrances (especially the conditioner).
Breakfast, prepared with good local products, was served by the pool. Our table was in the shade and swept by a gentle breeze. A waking dream.
The service is also very pleasant. Mario, his sisters and their team are absolutely charming. They are very available and attentive to their clients. They took great care of us all week and we thank them once again for their kindness and remarkable thoughtfulness.
Thus, we had an excellent stay at this establishment and we highly recommend it to those seeking beauty, calm, and serenity.
- 418rubend (10/5): Great stay! - We had a great experience! Please note that the business changed ownership in May 2025, so it’s best to check reviews from after that date. The welcome was warm, the pool is amazing, and the rooms are very comfortable — really nothing negative to mention.
- Will (9/5): Relaxing and Hospitable - The staff are really welcoming and hands-on, its only a small team but they did everything they could to make us feel at home. It felt less like a hotel and more like staying at an extremely hospitable friends rural house. The pool area is very calm and quiet with a good bathroom/shower area. The room is a decent size with a lovely rustic feel but very comfy. The breakfast was great - not an over-the-top choice of 100 things like in many hotels, but a small selection of high quality bread, croissants, cereals, yogurts, cured meats, cheese, eggs and bacon. They will get you whatever you want if requested. Nice location, just outside of Mahon but again very quiet and relaxing, feels like the middle of nowhere which is perfect for disconnecting.
The gardens are very well kept and nice to relax in. They even have a couple of tortoises strolling around...
- V983FMmarior (10/5): A lovely hotel, highly recommend! - The staff is exceptional, always friendly and attentive. They welcomed us warmly and quickly resolved any questions, making our stay very pleasant.
Everything was spotless, from the rooms to the common areas.
The breakfast was delicious.
- Boomshake22 (2/5): Son granot menorca..grimiest horror hotel - We booked son granot'hotel' for 2 nights.
On arrival you drive into the grimmest car park imaginable the size of 3 tennis courts..you the walk up steps to the scruffy red hotel, it's certainly seen better days..the render is peeling..you pass what I assume was the breakfast area..haphazard rotting wooden chairs and tables..dotted around ..
The reception texted me asking arrival time as the leave the building at 4..we arrived at 3..and they left at 2.30.
No staff are on site so this is not a hotel.
The place was deserted but we were texted directions to the suite.
The suites are thankfully away from the rundown hotel and restaurant.
But a 25 min walk from the car park..with no staff..
We checked out the pool area ..it looks nothing like the website. The pool is clean but again .the whole area is run down.. broken tiles ..peeling render ..a pool bar area with again rotting wooden furniture...so depressing..
The pool is a 10 minute walk from the suites.
We decided not to stay it is frankly awful and left to ruin..
Desperately bad..

- 863aliw (8/5): Beautiful hotel - Stayed here for our one year wedding anniversary. Absolutely beautiful setting. Everywhere was super clean and beautifully presented. Staff are friendly and helpful. Shower could do with some updating as it was very small and not powerful. Great aircon and good theres a fridge and kettle in room. Would love to stay here again
- fifi_chatzi (10/5): Oh, what a place on Earth! - Amazing location, amazing decoration, beautiful room, and AMAZING PEOPLE! Thank you all so much, for a great hospitality and such a relaxing holiday. It was our first time visiting this place, but surely not the last one.
Claudia, thank you for your warm smile, and all your recommendations.
- M5558HUsarahm (10/5): Super hotel in a great location! - We just had a lovely 3 night stay at San Granot. It is a great location, only 10 minute walk from Es Castell which has a number of nice restaurants and bars.
The receptionist was incredibly helpful and gave us a lot of recommendations for things to do during our stay. There was a delicious breakfast spread which we enjoyed every day.
Rooms were clean with tea and coffee facilities, a safe and a mini fridge.
The pool area is lovely for relaxing around
- Rebekahkirk (10/5): Small hotel, fabulous attention to detail and care - We booked Son Granot last minute for two adults and a toddler. The hotel is under new ownership (the new owners have a hotel in Mahón, Jardines des Bruixes- which is amazing) and that is why we took a chance and booked here. We were very unsure after reading some of the reviews but knew that the new owners would have made changes.
Positives:
- only 8 rooms - a very small hotel that felt so safe during covid times
- The receptionist (Eliana- not sure on the spelling) was fabulous. So caring and helpful. She made our stay and could not do more to help us. She was very kind to our daughter and lent her some beach toys to play with. She became very attached to a green spade!
- breakfast- everything you can imagine, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, ham, avocado, croissants, yoghurt, granola, salmon. It was delicious and made to order. The breakfast was served in a lovely outside garden which was lovely for our daughter to play in.
- location - easy access to calas fonts and Mahón. We love calas fonts and all the choice of restaurants.
- The swimming pool - we spent a few days around the pool and pretty much had it all to ourselves
- Thursday night Jazz night was lovely
- The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and is lovely to walk around
- The hotel is clean and tidy. The rooms are made up quickly and usually when we were eating breakfast.
- Aircon, fridge and safe in the room
- communal areas have been redecorated and we completed to a high standard
Improvements:
- Our room was small and rustic. It suited us but we couldn’t open the window as the restaurant had a huge open bbq and the smell was very strong. The bathroom could do with improvements, the shower was a bit old.
- The evening restaurant isn’t linked to the hotel and we ate there one night but did not enjoy it. It is very very expensive and not suitable for younger children. The menu was restrictive if you do not eat fish or have dietary requirements. Menorca is very busy at the moment so you have to prebook most restaurants and we were caught off guard for a few nights and didn’t feel we could eat at the hotel restaurant so ending up with takeaways which was a shame.
- the pool bars were not open at lunch time or during the day. If you want lunch or a drink you have to leave the hotel premises. Sometimes it’s nice to have a snack and a drink and just relax on a sun lounger without having to leave the hotel!
In summary, we loved our stay at the hotel and would gladly stay there again. Next time we would make sure we had a room with a balcony and would make sure we had evening meals organised. I think this hotel will be constantly improving as the new owners have only had it for a few months. This time next year I am sure all the improvements would have been made and it will be a fantastic, finished resort.
My pictures aren’t great as I didn’t take many!
- 699grahamg (10/5): Amazing transformation by the new owners - I visited the restaurant last night and it was a truly memorable evening. The food was exceptional and beautifully cooked. The previously uninviting pool area has been transformed by a new addition of a stunning cocktail bar for pre meal drinks and the open kitchen is based on bbq stations cooking individual dishes. We had a set menu which included beetroot gazpacho, grilled menorcan prawns, then steamed mussels followed by grilled lobster. The restaurant had been recommended to us and I am glad to say that it really was exceptional. Congratulations to the new owners.
- E512IVrichards (4/5): Viewing - We've been going to Es Castell for many years and were intrigued to see what this hotel and restaurant is like. They couldn't have been more unfriendly, said it was a private hotel and we were made to feel very unwelcome.
A very strange and disappointing approach to take with potential customers. We shall not return, and won't be recommending it to friends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small hotel with need of a little tlc, but being of such an age it is to be expected - some would say old fashioned. Staff were excellent and being only guests for some of our visit we received excellent service. It was a pity that it was not busier. Simple breakfast but tasty. Lovely pool area and pool. Hotel is located on outskirts of Es Castell with a 10-15 minute walk to port. We enjoyed our stay and would like to thank Julian, Benni and Laura for being so attentive to our needs.
- David (10/5): Beautiful menorca stay - A beautiful small rural hotel . Great helpful staff , great location
Highly recommend
- M4560PDkellyr (10/5): Perfect, Special - a hidden gem - I honestly cannot fault this place - I feel so lucky to have found it! We stayed here for just 2 nights, 9 women celebrating my birthday and it was tranquil, private and beautiful. The gardens are stunning, the rooms are quaint - very Spanish, which was so in keeping with the whole feel of the place. I had a suite and it was lovely. The staff were unbelievably attentive, they tended to our every need - above and beyond - And they didn’t seem to mind our crazy antics dancing by the pool!
You can walk easily into the gorgeous Es Castell for dinner and get a taxi to Mahon for about 10 euros.
I cannot recommend it highly enough - I’ll be back next year for my 41st!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Helpful and generous staff. Lovely outdoor terrasse when sunny for a delicious breakfast. Ultra clean. ☀️
- StephenC220 (8/5): Dinner - Visited for dinner whilst staying in Mahon for a week. Almost out of season so there were some things from the menu not available (the place closes towards the middle of October) but that didn’t stop us ordering things we fancied for dinner.
The presentation was excellent, the waiter was great and the food (lamb especially) was very good.
I suspect going during the Summer there may be more choice however even going now we were not disappointed.
- markcR8586RN (10/5): Wedding - The venue hosted our wedding this year and we couldn’t have been happier. The staff were great and the location is beautiful. The ceremony was held in the grounds just behind the hotel, which was amazingly done, we sat down for food in the courtyard and ended the night with a DJ and pool party, it was amazing! We would recommend this place as an excellent venue for a wedding.
- Maria (10/5): Absolutely amazing - highly recommended - We stayed at Son Granot for 4 nights, and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The room was super comfortable, very clean and calm. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the swimming pool as well. The restaurant was absolutely delicious; we spent so much time looking for places to eat and the best one out of all of them was by far the restaurant at Son Granot. By far, the best part of the experience was meeting the wonderful staff—thank you for everything!!
- Lottie (8/5): Lovely quiet hotel, really close to airport - Overall we had a lovely stay, the staff were helpful. I think it would have been good if the shutters had been repaired as the storms and wind meant they were banging about and kept us awake.
Would be great to have a club sandwich option for lunch by the pool and someone to see if we wanted drinks? Only seemed to happen on our first day.
Had dinner there the first night but would prefer really good 'home cooked' traditional Spanish /Menorcan food.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, but a few improvements could make it even better an experience.
- Anna (10/5): Fantastic hotel close to Mahon - We had a really nice stay at Son Granot. All staff were really friendly and welcoming, the rooms are really nice and the communal areas (restaurant, terrace, pool) are great. We really enjoyed the complementary breakfast out on the terrace, and spent every afternoon by the pool after coming back from the beach. The hotel is walking distance to Es Castell, where you have some nice restaurants, and just a short drive to Mahon where we went for dinner most nights. It is well located to go and explore different beaches on both the south and north coast. When leaving, we had a late night flight, and Julian kindly offered us a room for the day where we could keep our things and take a shower before heading to the airport, which meant we could get the most out of our last day on Menorca.
- michaelad542 (10/5): Oases of peace - Wonderful relaxing days
Planed to stay 3 nights , in the end, 11 nights
Kitchen wonderful , artistic creations , one of a kind! Thank you Carlos!
And Mark , you looked after us so well , thanks
The Place , son Granot, the best, peaceful , tranquil , an Oasis
One feels at home
Thank you all'
- NickyC1976_uk (10/5): Lovely, quiet hotel in ideal location - Just returned from a week at Son Granot.
We arrived very early (well before the 12pm check in time) but were invited to have breakfast and they prioritised getting our room ready. There are just 11 rooms in the hotel so you get a very personal experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful offering restaurant and day out suggestions.
Nice pool area - although the pool was very cold! The hotel itself is in a very quiet area but just a few minutes walk from the restaurants and shops at Es Castell. Lots of free parking at the hotel too - ideal if you have hired a car for getting out and about.
Breakfast was good - fresh OJ, tea and coffee, freshly baked bread, homemade cured meats and cheeses and several sweet options. Unfortunately, the chef was ill throughout our stay so we couldn't try the al la carte evening menu at the hotel but plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from.
We look forward to when we can return.
- Mortlaketraveller (10/5): Gorgeous hotel and pool - We stayed five nights at Son Granot. Our room was full of character with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The breakfast was delicious - meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt and very tasty rolls. The swimming pool is large and has good wooden loungers with thick cushions and large soft towels. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Just a ten minute walk into Es Castle with its pretty harbour surrounded by restaurants.
- R7418AKclairew (10/5): Lovely hotel in a good location - Quiet hotel but within easy walking distance of the lovely harbour at Es Castell, where you'll find a range of restaurants and a few bars. If you're after a peaceful location but with plenty to do on your doorstep then this is a perfect choice. Mahon is a short taxi (or bus) ride away and Es Castell is a great location for whiling away the hours watching the boats and the people.
The staff at the Son Granot were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and breakfast on the terrace was a great start to the day.
The only downside is there are no sandy beaches nearby but it's easy to hire a car.
- 985TheresaL (10/5): Great Rural Hotel - Spent a couple of days end of August.... lovely hotel, quiet, comfortable rooms, great pool, very nice breakfast (food and atmosphere), attentive and friendly staff...
Very close to Es Castell (beautiful little port, lots of restaurants and shops) and to Mahon.
Totally recommendable!
- Keithwarb (10/5): Can't fault it.. 1st class - My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days and loved every minute of our stay.
About half a mile from Es Castell large car park and stunning views of Mahon and the surrounding countryside.
The hotel, rooms and grounds are spotlessly clean, all the staff go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing as possible.
The breakfast was incredible, fresh chilled whole orange to glass, juice, choice of quality Menorcan meats an ham, smoked salmon, bacon and eggs to order etc etc.
The pool area has beds with thick cushions and soft towels, large parasols. The drinks are top quality, Raya, who can't do enough for you makes the perfect Pomada too.
Thanks for making our stay special!
10/10 from us and will definitely be booking again for next year
