• kaylamX9345NR (2/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! - Never even made it to the hotel because everything from the moment we booked was terrible. We booked through Expedia, which I also do NOT recommend doing. After booking, we called to confirm the reservation with the hotel, which they did not have. We were told to call back later. After calling again, we were told there was still no reservation, and to contact Expedia. We attempted to contact the hotel multiple times after, and there was no answer and no returned phone calls. Expedia had issues themselves contacting the hotel. Per Expedia, the hotel refused to give us a refund even though they had no reservation. This hotel is a scam!
• ryanmM5924HU (2/5): SCAM!!!!!! - Worst experience! Never book with this hotel! We booked with Expedia and I called the hotel to confirm our reservation. They said they never received the reservation and said I should contact Expedia. Well, I did that and went through about 85 people and found out I had a confirmation with Expedia but not with the hotel. I called the hotel multiple times and they blocked my number and quit answering the Phone! Do not book with this hotel! Complete Scam!!!
• I5379DZanthonyp (2/5): Hidden fees galore - Scamming customers with fees that are not shown when purchased through a third party. This is all they do to make money they are rated so badly for a reason.
• 330christopherg (4/5): TLDR: Definitely skip this hotel. There are so many better choices for the price - Pros: -Its beautifully designed. There was definitely a lot of attention and detail that went into making this feel very connected to Wrigleyfield which was a lot of fun. I loved seeing how they integrated the baseball experience into the floor and room designs. Super cool. - Its also located in a great area of Chicago if you're interested in that. Cons: -I booked via a 3rd party booking site which didn't list any mention of addtional fees. The room was booked for $300 for the night. Not too bad. Much to my surprise when I checked in there were over $200 in additional amenity fees added with no way to opt out. Plus a $125 deposit. If I had known it was going to cost me over $500 for a room for one night, I can guarantee you I would have booked a much much nicer hotel. The only thing I was aware of that I received for my "amenities" fee was a beer tickets for the bar next door -Our room was on the second floor right above the entrance. There is no sound proofing on the windows. I could hear EVERYTHING at street level. I was there on a saturday night and could hear every drunk person all night long. It might be better on higher floors so just make sure to ask for something higher than the second floor -Speaking of sound proofing, there isn't any inside either. It was clearly a popular night in our hotel. People were having fun on our floor which is great, but I could hear everything happening in the hallway, doors opening and slamming closed. It eventually calmed down around 1am. -there is almost no on-site staff other than the cleaning folks. If you are paying $500 for the night you mgiht expect that there would be people around to assist you. Sadly no. There's also no refrigerator or mini cooler in your room either which blows me away for the price. -I booked a king bedroom, and while the mattress itself was ok, it came with 4 standard pillows instead of king. Look this wouldn't have been a big deal normally, but after all the other things that were frustrating about this property, this just felt like the icing on the cake. I'm so glad I won't booked this for one night and definitely would not stay here again.
• Voyage22835701161 (2/5): Avoid this hotel - it’s a total scam! - I booked my hotel through a third party booking app and prepaid for my entire stay. When I paid, the receipt said all of the taxes and fees were included in the upfront price. The law now requires that all extra fees be disclosed at the time of booking so I assumed I was all set. I was extremely shocked when I arrived at the hotel and the fraudulent shakedown began. They told me I need to sign a form and agreed to a $ 100/ night resort fee. I told them that wos outrageous and I wasn’t interested in anything that was included in the resort fee. They told me that it was required and that that there would not a manager available for me to speak with. I felt like it was extortion. By far my worst ever hotel experience. I hope that someone investigates this business and shuts them down.
• jmleon72 (2/5): Junk Fees - this is a totally unethical business! - The hotel engages defrauding customers with excessive junk fees. The junk fees that are charged are beyond anything that is considered reasonable in the area and are not fully disclosed. You likely won’t use any of the benefits that are included in the $100 / night of junk fees. The service at the hotel is also horrible. There are many other hotels in the area. Avoid this one!
• Traveler_1226_europe (2/5): Dispective hotel practices. Junk fees added to bill - The hotel uses incredibly deceptive billing practices. Adding a destination fee/guest amenity fee that cost more than the actual nightly rate in some cases. The junk fees are approximately $100 fee/ night and includes things that most guests will never use. During my stay there were several other guests who mentioned they felt like they were being taken advantage of, and that the hotel staff was extremely arrogant and dismissive when they asked about the additional charges. I didn’t have time to deal with this during my checkout, and I’m sure based on prior reviews on this website, that my concerns would have just been dismissed by management. I am planning to dispute the $300 (three nights of junk fees) that were charged to my credit card because they were never disclosed during the booking process. Management at this hotel should be ashamed of their deceptive billing practices. Don’t stay here until they have a new management team.
• michaelrU4473OS (2/5): Scam! Deceptive advertising. Do not stay here - This is a SCAM! They advertised a low room rate via booking services and Google Maps and failed to disclose that there was a mandatory amenities package, plus additional junk fees and taxes. My final bill was over 4 times the advertised room rate. They tried to blame this on the third-party booking service I used, but they should not list with such services if that is the case. The amenity package itself is grossly overpriced. Many of the items were discounts that required additional purchases. I used none of it, not even the coffee, but still was charged for all of it. The check-in is self-service, so they are skimping on labor but not passing the savings along to customers. They could have sent me the check-in link ahead of time so that I could have either resolved the billing dispute or canceled, but I had to deal with it upon arrival. Security is lax at entry. Location, cleanliness, noise level, and atmosphere were ok.

This is illegal bait and switch. Yes, I probably could have demanded a full refund by my family of four flew halfway across the country, we were checking in at 10pm, and I really felt like they had me over a barrel. This is no way to treat a customer. They should be ashamed. • Thomas (8/5): - Room was great. Bathroom is nice. The check in process is weird since it’s all via text which can totally spike your anxiety when they aren’t super responsive. Not sure it’s worth the price and additional fees. The location is good if you want a solid bar scene and literally 400 steps to Wrigley.
• Kelly (8/5): - The location was great, the staff was wonderful. The room we stayed in was super minimal, but that's all we needed. The bed was like sleeping on cardboard. Definitely wouldn't want that room again, neither of us slept well. But for being so close to so many bars and restaurants that were super loud, we didn't hear a peep in our room! Would stay her again, just try a different bed then the queen one in the room with the bunk bed.

One improvement I’d recommend is a commercial ice machine! The ones there weren’t working. Also the New Mexican restaurant has annoying base music until 2 am, wasn’t there last time I stayed.

After inquiring they text damaged towel. Then asked if I wanted pictures. I said yes. Because I had cleaned up the room very nicely I thought. Picture was of a towel with a small amt of makeup on the edge of the towel. I’ll post the picture. I’m glad I didn’t have to clean up any messes from my children or a soda spill I can only imagine what they would charge.

No employees. No management. They text you and threaten you. To be honest hotels.com was not helpful with this at all!

• Brian (8/5): Chicago Cubs Night - Room was nice, clean, comfortable, however when we arrived it was rather warm in the room and the A/C was slow to bring the temperature down. Fortunately we were going to the baseball game soon after arriving so by the time we got back to the room, hours later,not was almost do n to the temperature we wanted. Another issue, we could not take advantage of the coupons for drinks because the bar was closed quite early. I believe it was 10pm.

• Angela (4/5): - Not a safe area. They don’t have desk coverage at all times. At 4pm when we checked in the girl at desk refused to check us in herself. Insisted on us using mobile check in even though we were standing right in front of her. She was not friendly or welcoming at all. She refused our request to check us in and told us she couldn’t check us in and we had to do it through a mobile app even though the email gave us the option to check in online or in person and we selected in person. When we checked out, there was no attendant at desk and had to check out online. Also no attendant at desk when we returned later that evening from our event. Very poor customer service and accommodations are not up to Chicago standards. I stay in Chicago often and had to stay here because my usual hotels were booked. Will not stay here again.

• Thomas (4/5): - Visit started off with some pretty rude service from person answering the phone…this place really does make you feel like hospitality is DEAD…the room itself and the lobby were great, clean rooms clean lobby just not good service. It’s amazing that by sending repeated text qualified as giving good service is absolutely not service at all. The room, the decor and area were great. Be ware you are in a loud party area and if you are a light sleeper you with not like it here…I personally like sound and slept like a baby, the bed was super comfortable. Unfortunate with the behavior from the people that answer the phone there. It’s not a fully manned hotel and it lacks oversight for giving good service.

• Kierra (4/5): Needs improvements - I usually don’t write reviews but my sister and I stayed here for a concert at Wrigley Field and it was not a good experience. Upon arrival check in was pretty smooth because fortunately I had read the emails and completed the online check in procedure as required, plus they had an onsite person that day assisting with check ins. However, once we arrived at our room we instantly noticed the entry point/lock on the door had been damaged. This was odd because the door only required a key tap to enter so how the lock ended up damaged that way was very concerning and whether the door was secure. Also one of our beds had stained sheets which were never replaced after notifying the hotel. Our patio door did not lock and the screen door was broken. Not to mention the patio is shared with another room and separated by a short fence. All of these issues were documented and reported to the hotel in which they responded that they were aware of the front door and it just looked like that but wasn’t actually an issue and “thanks for informing us” of the other issues. Considering we paid over $500 for one night in this hotel before deposits and fees, it’s reasonable to expect better conditions. We did not feel safe or secure in our room from either entry point and they showed little to no concern about it. The place itself is in a great location and has a nice concept. It could be a great stay if they maintained the property in better conditions and fixed issues as they arise.

Luckily there was a member of the cleaning staff there to assist us. Without that we would have cancelled the room

• Lisa (6/5): - This is a very noisy property, centrally located across from a karaoke bar and close to other bars. if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s the place to be -but it’s not what I expected, especially with the Cubs out of town. The check-in process was a huge pain.
• Natasha (10/5): - This is a really fun place to stay if you are a baseball fan. Lots of fun baseball decor and wall decor in common areas, and the room was clean with a minimalist vibe. It would have been nice to have more baseball related decor in the room, but it was fine. The hotel staff from reception to housekeeping was all very friendly.
• David (2/5): Grifting resort fees and lack of amenities. - Excessive "resort" fees get tacked on after sale. Grifting you into accepting bottled water, coffee and gift certs to restaurants miles away in exchange for a deceivingly lower list price. Very small pillows. Understaffed. No fridges or microwaves. Single barely working ice machine. If you're not aware, Wrigleyville is a very loud party district. You will be hearing dance music and people screaming till well after 2am. Great location if you want to be part of that atmosphere.

You can bypass uploading your driver's license and still complete the check in but they will not allow you to enter or give you access until everything has been provided. Just a bummer that you could complete it leaving fields empty but yet they are necessary. The lady on the phone kept yelling/making demands and then throwing me on hold until I completed her demands. It just got frustrating. It was hard navigating on the street sidewalk after a Cubs game with the street noise, bar music, etc but our room was perfect!

• Ronen (10/5): - It’s an easy self-check-in process, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I believe adding a refrigerator to the rooms (and perhaps a microwave) would definitely enhance the guest experience. The coffee corner is nice, but having a refrigerator and offering fresh milk there would make it even better. Overall, I would certainly consider booking this hotel again in the future.

Texted the customer service line and they took hours to reply w/the code. Only got the code from another guest.
• Nicholas (6/5): Nobody home - Nice place and convenient. No one working lobby, didn’t know I couldn’t just check in at front desk. Had to jump through hoops to get key. Called the emergency number on the inside and they hung up on me. Besides that was nice.
• Matthew (10/5): Perfect Hotel for a Chicago Cubs game! - This was the perfect place to stay for a Chicago Cubs game!!! The hotel is convenient to Wrigley Field and in the middle of Wrigleyville. The location gives you unlimited food and drink options with access to local shopping within walking distance. The only draw back is trying to find decent parking. The hotel turned me on to an app called SpotHero for parking which ended up turning out to be a great app!
• Craig (10/5): - Very clean and had a lot of character. We were comfortable, felt safe and was quiet. Very close to Wrigley and dining, bars and shops.

• Sally (4/5): - I’ve stayed at this property several times. The beds both had dirty bedding. No way it wasn’t noticeable just ignored. Called help number and comforter was changed. Woke up with bug in bed- just gross. Should have had entire bedding in both beds changed, but was exhausted and it was late. Should get discount credited to my next scheduled stay in September.

• Amiyah (6/5): - The hotel had no on-site staff. We had to call a phone number to get our room key and were put on hold for a long time. The room only had hand soap—shampoo and conditioner had to be picked up from downstairs. The toilet paper roll in our room was already half used. A perk was receiving three free drinks from the bar next door. A nice spot to check out is Cheesy, located right across the street.
• Melissa (10/5): - I really like this Hotel. Even though it was mostly contact less they were very attentive reaching out via message. The only thing I not so sure about is the $49 amenities fee since i only stay a couple night arriving late the first one I only used the bottle water they included which I appreciated. Besides that its about 4 blocks from Wrigley field & surrounded by nightlife. The bars & street can be a little noisy but not terrible & That was even if a bar crawl (mustache crawl) & kpop (Ateez) concert going on in the same night. I didn't visite the attached bar but did check oit the roof deck which glhad beautiful views. In all I would definitely stay again.
• Heather (6/5): Paying for location and not much else - Guest services day before and day of check in were unfriendly and rude. Called morning of to inquire about early check (per instructions) and was told “your room isn’t ready, call back” and they hung up on me. Properly lists that text messages can be sent but they were rarely answered. TV didn’t work which would have been nice to have some noise to drown out the noises from the bars. We definitely paid for the location and not much else. Parking is an additional expense on top of it.
• skylineview (10/5): Fun and Clean Hotel - I was hesitant after reading the other reviews, but if you read the reservation in detail and do the pre-check in online, you shouldn't have any issues. When we arrived their was a lady working the front desk, albeit a casual front desk, that checked us right in and we were on our way. Total check-in time 3 minutes. The hotel was clean, quiet and worked real well for us. We usually stay at the Zachary, but decided to give this a try. It was fun. We liked it!
• Jill (8/5): - I would 100% stay again. Very good experience. I wish there was a mini fridge in the room. The lobby felt abandoned. However, staff was very responsive by text.
• Phillip (10/5): - Wonderful location! Wrigley Field is a three minute walk. Lots of excellent restaurants and bars literally les than 100 steps outside the hotel door. Addison L stop is a seven minute walk. Very walkable neighborhood
• Paratrainer (4/5): Never again! - The Chicago Hotel Collection will never be my go-to again. While the online reservation was not difficult, there is a hotel guest ammenties package you are required to pay ($79.00) that gives you access to other benefits, some which require additional purchases in order to use. Further, I had to text the remote guest sercvice team to get codes to use to open the benefits. There was nothing great about this required package. It is a ridiculous ammenity. I booked a room online for one night. There weren't any difficulties with using my credit card for the reservation. None. I received a text msg from the remote guest service indicating my card was declined for the $125 deposit on the day I was checking in. Through at least three attempted efforts to rectify this, "they" (via text msg) indicated the zip code was in error. Sorry. (My zip code has never changed for the past twenty years on my credit cards. ) This process, each time, required my uploading my photo ID and another picture of myself in order to clear this problem. (all while standing with luggage outside the hotel.) I attempted to use two other credit cards till, finally, one was accepted. Eventually, we were in the hotel lobby (by way of another guest who had been let in by someone exiting the lobby) who was also struggling to get his resrevation confirmed with zip code issues. What in the world? This was such a frustrating situation and a huge turn-off for a pleasant stay. The Chicago Hotel Collection is very clear when booking a room that their guest services are remote. In other words, there aren't any front desk or affiliate staff on premise. It is a DIY check in, and we exprienced much frustration. I will give them the benefit that their remote team does handle text messages promptly, but seriously, it's frurstrating to have so many problems just to get your room key! At 10pm on the night of our stay, we received a text msg with a number to use in case of emergency since their remote guest services closes for the night. On the positive side: the location is good if you're in town for a Cubs game, the room was very clean, plush towels, good shower, three drink coupons for the bar next door, four free bottles of water in the room. Other negatives: I had to text guest services for the wi-fi password, that we never did get to work. Most hotels have that available on your room key envelope. There isn't any parking via hotel accommodations. Upon inquiry before my stay, I asked and was told Spot Hero is what most guests used. (we did notice a parking garage in the vicinity after we got there.) Cubs lost, but there were lots of homeruns, so that was a sweet way to end our stay.

Only bad thing is there is a lot of walk-thru foot traffic and individuals will attempt to walk in to hotel with you when trying to come in at night even though they are non-guests. This was reported to staff and they acted promptly to show up to the property which was appreciated.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Staff Missing! - We tried to check in to this hotel after a long flight. We were left standing on the street due to the lobby being locked. Rang the doorbell several times and no one came. Called all of the numbers posted without answer. Don’t waste your time in this hotel! I walked away feeling scammed out of my money (non refundable) and still had to get another hotel.
• jcbroach (2/5): Beware- You will pay EXTRA fees! - Do NOT book this hotel unless you understand you will spend over $100 more a night. I have seen several reviewers that have had the same problem. So if everyone is unaware of the prices, maybe, just maybe the hotel is doing something unethical. To be honest, I feel scammed from the way I was treated! You will pay more money then what the hotel advertises. When staying here, everything was as to be expected. The neighborhood was loud (near Wrigley), the room was adequate, and the service at the front desk was literally missing. The location in Wrigleyville is the key reason we stayed at this hotel. Most of the time, there wasn't anyone there! But the worst was the $200+ charge for "amenity fees" at the end of my two night stay. Prepare to pay at least $100 a night in additional fees when you stay here. I was not notified of the fees when I booked or checked in. When I checked in the woman at the front desk literally checked boxes for me before I signed the form on the computer so I didn't even have a chance to read it. I found out about the charges when they were on my credit card after I left. This practice is beyond unethical. I will not stay here ever again unless this is changed. Hey Chicago Hotel- don't come back and say that you will look into making changes. Make a change now and refund these unacceptable and unethical fees.

• Terrence (4/5): DON’T DO IT. JUST. NO. - I’m going to add to what many others have probably said: there are very expensive hidden fees at this hotel. Starting at $100 per stay. We only stayed one night. But I think there is also a $50 per day fee. Literally NOTHING at this hotel is staffed. There is no bar or restaurant. They give you a text which is a bot. It was difficult to figure out check in online. You need a code to get into hotel so if you haven’t received it by email or text your stuck waiting, and stressing, outside in the heat/cold. Also in the middle of the night water started leaking through the vent right over our toilet in our bathroom. Couldn’t tell if it was clean or grey water. Clearly gross and possibly health code violation. This is not ok. Especially for what you pay after all their hidden fees. Really not a great experience.

• Bertha (2/5): Never again. - Had problems getting text to enter the building. Never saw a representative. Entering the room smelled like a dirty dog. They over charged me and have continued to add charges a week after being there. Never again.

• Michael (4/5): - Received conflicting information about whether the check-in process was a normal check-in process or a “contactless” one which just caused confusion. Agent wasn’t helpful at all with helping me deal with a room key that was stolen. Bathroom door was a sliding barn door that wouldn’t stay closed and taking one shower flooded the whole bathroom floor.

• Jennifer (2/5): Terrible check in experience - The check in was terrible. I was instructed to complete pre check in form. Which I did the day before. I was to receive notification when room ready. Never Received notification. Call phone number was told To go someone was there to help check in.. upon arrival, lady said I had to do pre check in form. I explained I had. She was a bit rude. I had to end up completing 2 more times before it would go through. Also I Called ahead about holding luggage before room was ready. Luggage was place on floor of a basement stock room. Very unhappy. When returned to check in- the luggage was placed on cart in main lobby. Not happy about that at all.
• jadesO9034GG (2/5): Horrible Service - I don’t normally write reviews, but this was beyond unacceptable. The worst service I have ever received. Is a scam Will charge unnecessary fees that you will not be informed of. We arrived on Saturday checked in and had a great time. My card got a $242 cancellation fee then I got a call while at the Cubs game asking why I did not check in. I proceeded to tell her we stayed last night and our items are in the room. She said that was not possible and asked to report to front desk right away. Told her after the game I would be there. She was the one that gave us the keys, she continued to argue she did not and asking how I got the keys. Said she was watching security to see, I gave her the timeframe and she gave me the keys. Still wanted to question how we got the keys. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff were rude and dismissive, acting like I was a burden rather than a paying guest. They offered zero help and seemed irritated by basic questions. This was one of the most disgusting and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had at a hotel. Avoid this place at all costs. I would stay somewhere else.

• Jamie (6/5): - Loved the decor. Proximity to Wrigley was great. The check in was super easy. Really disliked no fridge in the room and no ice machine. We had no way to keep things cold. And no hooks or way to hang anything in the bathroom was weird. Also the additional fees tagged on were ridiculous. Real shady. The actual room was clean and had great decor. The beds were comfortable.

• Quest07177181082 (2/5): Misrepresentation in room pricing and fees. - Although the property is great, they advertised a night rate of $60. I had a layover and need a quick room for the night. The booking process failed to alert me that there were going to be upward of $80 in hidden room charges, taxes, resort fees? My final bill came out to around $140 which was double the room rate. That made me very sour on the whole experience. As I'm looking at the site where I booked it, I booked this on Expedia and the hotel replied back that all of their rates are shown on the site. However, the way Expedia shows listing, they display the room rate and then underneath, cleverly shown, is the rate for the entire stay. The advertising is falsely displayed or lures in travelers by stating that there is a $60 room rate, which is not correctly. As an example, I attempted to book directly on their hotel site tonight and the room rate is $62.26 (last minute deal) and that is what is advertised prior to signing in and booking, but when you get to the checkout page, they have added $10.84 for taxes, $49.95 for a guest package that I didn't ask for and there is no way to remove it on their site and also a $40.00 Reservation Recovery Fee. ?? WHAT? for a new total of $163.05. That's nearly 3 times the room rate that is advertised and I'm being charged for items that are not included on any of their reservations pages, just ends up on the bill. I WILL NOT SUBMIT to this type of misrepresentation. They need to change their tactics. If they want $200 for their rooms, just put in the room rate instead of hiding it.

• Fabio (6/5): - They use a unique business model with a remote guest services team, however, they will only respond to your texts & calls the day you are set to check in, which can be problematic if you happen to have ANY issue that you may need to discuss prior to arriving in a new city. If you are going to be remote, fine, but respect the game when you receive texts or calls from your guests. The room & property are fine, however, they charge you an extra $50 per person for amenities that you don't see. So don't be fooled by the low rate, as you might as well take the additional $100 and stay at a hotel with humans.
