Kellie (10/5): A Great View Review - The couple who host are incredibly kind. They are there if you need them, and generally keep to themselves if you are looking to be more private. Their home is gorgeous, and they have more than one room for rent. There are two bathrooms and one shower. The shower and tub are immaculate and give you a great view from the backdoor. Breakfast was incredible and even came with fresh baked goods and homemade jam. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! I didn't love the idea of staying in someone's home, at first, but after you meeting the owners of the home I felt much more comfortable.

Christopher (10/5): A guest house that lives up to its name! - I cannot speak more highly of our stay at this guesthouse. It lives up to its name with truely stunning views, scenery only outdone by the wonderful hospitality and warm welcome we recieved. We came on my partners 40th birthday, which i let them know in advance - they made such a fuss of us on his Birthday, decorating our room and bringing us a birthday cake! The guesthouse is increadibly clean and the beds where soooo comfy (exactly what we needed after the drive from reykjavik!). Breakfast was also lovely, and getting to eat it with views that only iceland can offer was special. Close enough to the centre to Akureyri that you can access everything you would want from the city, but far enough away that you feel in a rural oasis. A truely special place, hosted by wonderful people. Highly reccomend.

Dopo aver conosciuto la proprietaria di casa e superato lo stupore di trovarci in casa di qualcuno siamo stati accompagnati in giro per la casa: MERAVIGLIOSA. Essendo una casa a tutti gli effetti era dotata proprio di tutto, inclusa una cucina supplementare dedicata agli ospiti per la gestione autonoma della cena. Possibilità anche di lavare e asciugare i propri indumenti. Camera comoda e discretamente ampia. Living room mozzafiato. Colazione ottima. Bagno principale caldo, comodo, pulito e profumato. Nulla da ridire, esperienza molto positiva.

We would never use something if it was not on the list, but It is not cool to add them to the list and scold us for using it. The host blames us for using the washing machine to wash and dry up some bathing suit, but the washing machine was on the facilities list. This incident overshadowed the overall experience.

Hands down, this was my FAVOURITE place of all the guesthouses I stayed in in Iceland. Heck, I'd come back to Iceland just to make a visit to this place. Where do I even begin with describing why I loved it so much? For starters, the hosts were absolutely splendid. Very hospital and welcoming, very warm and friendly. Thor and Ivar were the cutest couple, like a nice lovely grandma-grandpa duo. They were kind enough to let us use their washer and dryer (which they don't normally do), they chatted with us (about Icelandic politics and economy, about the state of youth, about worldly affairs etc.), shared about their family with us, gave us little bites of food they cooked, prepared an absolutely lovely and homely breakfast for us, gave us roadtrip recommendations... I couldn't bear to leave them :( Secondly, the HOUSE! Goodness gracious me, the house was a real marvel. Ivar had built it from scratch himself (I loved hearing him tell us the story of how he did it), and the worksmanship is truly impeccable! The house was spacious yet warm and cosy at the same time, and the design of the house was very tasteful. You can tell they have really taken care of it, as everything was spick and span, kept in good order, with little pictures and ornaments around from the couple's family, travels, past stories etc. It helps too that the view of the snowy mountains from their house is just incredible! Thirdly, we were so incredibly lucky to have been able to catch the Northern Lights there, which was really the cherry on top. We were also lucky to have been the only guests who booked their house at that time, so we got the whole house and all the facetime with the hosts to ourselves :D Beware, they close for winter, so if you're planning to visit here, go in the warmer seasons! Nothing much. Maybe it was a little pricey, but hey for all the perks and benefits that we reaped from this place, I was happy to pay. Just something to note for the more cost conscious folks!

By far this was the best place we stayed at in Iceland!

Lesley (10/5): Beautiful property with spectacular views, and welcoming hosts! - This is a beautiful property, with warm and welcoming hosts. The home is clean, modern and has all of the amenities we were looking for. The views from the backyard are spectacular, and the sitting area outside has a hot tub, comfy seats, and an area to eat. There is a separate kitchen for guests to use to prepare their own meals or to store things in the fridge. The living room inside is beautifully decorated and very comfortable for relaxing. Breakfast in the morning is delicious, with homemade breads and lots of choices for something to eat. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend this property to anyone who will be staying in the Akureyri area. We have no complaints, however it would be useful if the fridge in the guest kitchen had a freezer.

David (10/5): Best place to stay in Akureyri - The stay is in the host's house which is new and immaculate. They are very friendly. The view out the front window is amazing. The photos simple don't do this place justice as everything is so nice and well decorated. The beds were the most comfortable of the 6 different places we stayed in Iceland. The hosts make quite a nice breakfast every morning with many choices. They own a few horses and we got to see a foal while we were there. For the price, this is an exceptional value and a great stay for those traveling the Ring Road. You will not get this combination of great features in any other stay in this price range.

We ended up having to drive 1 hour away and pay 2x to sleep last night. Not happy at all.

Smita (9/5): Charming guesthouse with a great view! - The property is a beautiful house, a little bit south of Akureyri (about a 10 Minute drive) , and it was one of the best homestays I have been in! The hosts are very nice. There are 3-4 guest rooms but each room is soundproofed and we also got lucky with respectful guests. We slept very well. Beds were comfortable, and they had provided an extra pillow per person as well. The bathroom was shared but it was luxurious! Breakfast was quite sumptuous with some excellent home baked bread and other baked goods, eggs, fruit … everything you might need to start your day. We had some trouble with our travel adapter but our host came to the rescue. Our hosts also kindly recommended an excellent and less known stop on our way to Egilsstadir. Oh, and the house comes with the cutest and most well-behaved dog, Chris! Lovely, lovely house and very nice people!

David (9/5): Amazing house and views - The house is in great shape, very good finishes and well taken care of. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t at the level of the house. It was an ok breakfast, not many options.

The Guesthouse is so beautiful decorated, everthing clean, a big bathroom and last but not least the extraordinary breakfast with all you can have, including the amazing delicous self-baked bread. We can highly recommend this lovely place.

Debamalya (10/5): Awesome Hotel - First of all, this place doesn't even look like a hotel, it looks & feels like home. The place is keenly decorated with beautiful artefacts & each corner is picture perfect, on top of that the surrounding view is stunning. The hosts are super friendly, he even took out his time to help us on next day drive plan with map. The complimentary breakfast was good as well. The added bonus was the hot-tub, its a perfect way to deal with the chills & relax. At this price you cannot gt a better deal!
