• Nicole (10/5): Excellent and relaxed - highly recommended - Mahn was an incredible host, and his wife as well. They made us feel very welcome from the first day. Mahn cooked us an excellent meal on the first evening and spent time with us. On the next days when we came back from a bike ride, his wife and staff would prepare some lime juice and fresh fruits. They always made sure we were pleased and enjoying our stay. We had fresh eggs from the farm for our breakfast.

• Maciej (10/5): Absolutely moved by the hosts’ hospitality. - The hosting family is just incredible, their kindness and hospitality amazed us. They are really hard working, humble and helpful. They welcomed us with traditional tea and huge dinner, they showed us around, we could rent a bike (for free) or a scooter (for a 150k). They organised transport to our next destination and were always there when we needed any help. We felt as part of their family which was a great honour. The bikes were a bit old and uncomfortable, maybe not suitable for long rides, but they were for free so it is definitely not a big deal. It was still a nice experience - we had a lot of fun riding them.

• Lisa (10/5): Familiäre Unterkunft mit allem was man braucht! - Tolle Lage mit Wunderschöner Natur und lieben Gastgebern. Bad ist in den Felsen eingebaut. Leckeres Essen. Wir waren als Veganer/Vegetarier keine einfachen Gäste und für uns bzw. Unser Kind wurde extra in die Stadt gefahren, um frische Milch zu holen. Man kommt schnell nach Trang An gelaufen, ist aber deutlich ruhiger. Wer keine Schnecken mag, sollte nicht in den Bungalows schlafen. Durch die "offenen" Bäder kamen ein, zwei Schnecken ins Zimmer. Überhaupt nicht schlimm und wunderschön anzusehen, nur als Warnung für Personen, die keine mögen.

Wir wurden herzlich begrüsst mit Getränken und Früchten. Es wurde für uns gekocht… sie haben ein Motorrad für uns organisiert und wir durften die kostenlosen Fahrräder benutzen. -

• Vallance (9/5): Great stay at Ninh Binh Retreat - Lovely property. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. The host and staff were friendly and helpful. Great pool, but it gets busy in the afternoon. We left a pair of shoes there, and they arranged to have them sent to our hotel in Hue. Exceptional service ! Only drawback is that the pool gets busy late afternoon, so come early.
• Rose (10/5): The best place in Ninh Binh - Ninh Binh Retreat is the most beautiful place - the gardens, the pool, the verandah, the rooms, the position under the karst peaks - everything is perfect and aesthetically pleasing. I think it is easily the nicest place in the area. We were given the most delicious dinner on the first night, free of charge. The owner and his family are lovely people. We will recommend to all our friends. Nothing.

• Karolina (7/5): Good - It looks like the property was amazing once. Unfortunately, now it looks run down, rooms need repair. We stayed in two rooms. One was good enough, but the other room was humid and water was dripping in the bathroom from the second floor. We had hot water one evening, but not the next day and shower was getting flooded everytime we use it. The best from this stay was that you could get free bicycles and the owner tried to help with everything we asked.

There were lots of bikes in good working order to take at your leisure and the host did his best to make you feel very comfortable even with his limited English we felt like we were catered to.

Nice owner, cooked a real tasty meal for us for free! Nice view on swimmingpool. The bathroom had some waterissue, floor often wet. Missed stop in waterbassin (contactlenses) Thorough clean up inside/outside good be an idea, fresh paint as well.

The rooms are spacious, but could do with some refreshing (new bed sheets etc.). Communication before we arrived was challenging, but once we were there all was good. Overall a great stay.

The best part was the welcoming owner who welcomed us, made a lovely breakfast, and even prepared us a traditional dinner that was some of the best food we’d had in Vietnam. Could not recommend enough! He also has bikes and scooters for rent to help you get around the area if you don’t come on a motorbike like we did.

• Cristina (10/5): Little Gem - We had one night only at this wonderful place, the owners of the place they were very lovely and friendly, they even prepared dinner for us on arrival which we didn’t expect. He also sorted out our taxi to Tam Coc and back and kindly kept our luggage until later on in the evening when we had to leave for Da Nang. My partner and I both loved it and we will definitely come back if we are planning on visiting Vietnam again so don’t think twice and book this beautiful place if you’re looking in visiting Ninh Binh.

So much nature but also historic monuments around this place. All means of transportation are available and great food options around. That we didn’t stay longer!

• John (9/5): A great place to stay with a hospitable local family in a relatively quiet and scenic location. - The owner and his family were extremely hospitable. Our first night they welcomed us with a feast of local delicacies and happy water. The pool was large, the gardens were lovely, and you can take some walks from the retreat to some lovely viewing spots. We especially liked that the area was quiet and removed from the tourist bustle in the towns of Tam Coc and Trang An. We used their bicycles to access the nearby tourist sites. The retreat had wifi in the public areas but it did not extend to our rooms. The many roosters nearby were an early morning wake up call.

• Josefine (8/5): Very good - A beautiful little retreat tucked away amongst the rice paddies and lakes. The owner is very accommodating. He will gladly assist with booking drivers and even arranged for a big home cooked dinner on our first evening. The pool is massive and clean. The other staff are all attentive and wonderful. I liked that our room had a mosquito net and a balcony overlooking the mountains and pool. All in all, it was very relaxing and close to most attractions.

The pool is also exceptional with a small hot tub section, just without the heat as the cool water is what's needed when taking a dip in Vietnam

They accommodate to our needs and made sure we are comfortable. They also suggested good service around town. During the stay the weather was not suitable for swimming but it was clear that the swimming pool and all facilities are accurate to the pictures.

The place is run by a very friendly husband and wife that went above and beyond in terms hospitality. I was invited to eat with the family on my first night and even got the chance to participate in a very fun karaoke night with some locals on the second. The location itself is beautifully situated on a quaint road, nestled between lush rice paddies and limestone hills, creating spectacular views at all times of the day and the perfect atmosphere to spend a few days and relax. The main sights are all within a convenient distance with bicycles or motorbikes, both of which are at your disposal on the property. Highly recommend this location, where you will receive unmatched Vietnamese hospitality in a peaceful countryside setting.

Far from boring cities like, Ninh Binh itself. Stay in nature. This one's not for city folks. Enjoy your stay and the adventure.

• Erika (9/5): Rural getaway surrounded by stunning landscapes, run by the kindest people ever! - The people who run Ninh Binh Retreat are the kindest people ever. They will go out of their way to make sure you feel so taken care of. They cooked us dinner our first night as a welcome and it was delicious (talented cooks). With the help of Google Translate, we were able to communicate well about local activities, using their bikes (free of charge!) and booking a driver for longer activity days. They are humble and generous people and kept trying to comp little things for us just because we stayed for 4 days (unnecessary!!) We were so happy to pay for the service and great food! Can’t say enough good things about them. The value for the price is unbeatable, and the area is stunning. The pool is lovely but we didn’t go in. The facilities are definitely a little worn down, but it seems on par or even nicer than the competing properties nearby. Things like high humidity just can’t be controlled in this area where it was misty the whole time, and that water hangs in the air. Manage your expectations that this is an off the beaten path, more rural area - but in our minds totally worth it for the value, incredibly kind and warm service, and the stunning location where just walking outside is a beautiful adventure. We would book again!

• Anna (10/5): A beautiful location and wonderful stay, lovely hosts who gave us the once in a lifetime experience to share Tet holiday - The location is beautiful and quiet, the room was comfortable and the hosts very welcoming - we stayed during Tet holiday and we felt very honoured to be included in their celebrations. The pool is beautiful and big, but unfortunately because of the weather this time we didn’t get the chance to use it. We would definitely come back. Bicycles could do with being fixed or serviced.

• Catalina (9/5): Superb - Beautiful place, we borrowed some bikes and discovered the beauty of ninh binh. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Very yum pho. Room was spacious and had a beautiful view over the pond. The room would benefit from a bit more furniture ( there was a bed table, a small table and some closet but it was next to the bathroom). If you can add a small bedtable, some small lamps, that would make the place extra cosy.

• Emily (6/5): Suggest the pool view rooms, ours was basic. - Good location to take the free bikes out to the main tourist spots, although very rural. Trang An boat tours were about 15 mins cycle and Bai Dinh Pagoda was about 45 mins cycle. The room was basic and the beds were clean and comfy. The bathroom could have done with some work, didn't seem super clean and the toilet dripped. I wish I had booked the pool view rooms that looked much nicer. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice, though no where to sit around the pool (no seats or loungers) which was a shame. The dining area was fine but fluorescent lighting wasn't so nice and atmospheric. We asked to turn them off Seemed to mostly cater for local Vietnamese tourists, wouldn't recommend for solo travelers The communal toilets by the restaurant and pool were disgusting. Rooms not soundproof at all and very noisy especially with noisy guests (Vietnamese people aren't the quietest)
• Quan (10/5): Relax feeling and great view. - They upgraded us to the VIP room which is very nice. It have an air can and a fan. The room and the bathroom is big and clean. It feels comfortable and has a nice view. Nothing I can think of.

Short walk or cycle to local restaurants. - good free bikes - nice pool - room with balcony view was special. Room was nicely done out, bathroom needed some updates but didn’t impact our stay.
• Chloe (8/5): Perfect place to relax - The property was just outside of Ninh Binh, so it’s a great place to relax and get out of the city area but it’s also close if you need to go into town. The villa was beautiful and the staff were super helpful! The first night we had dinner with the owner, which was incredible food. On one of the nights our aircon broke and the electricity went out, which isn’t his fault at all but he moved us to a different villa to make us comfortable when we slept. He also helped us with taxis and hiring motorbikes. His customer service is unreal. Just an all round perfect place to relax. You don’t even have to leave the retreat at all if you don’t want to. Unfortunately the electricity cut out twice when we were there. Not their fault at all. And one of the cut outs the whole street was cut out until 7 at night. Unsure if it’s a common problem but it made the air cons not work either so the only way to keep cool we’re fans which was super hot for us. But I know it’s not their fault at all.
• 8linda8 (9/5): Relaxing tranquil hotel. We loved our stay. - The hotel had a beautiful peaceful country setting. We felt that we were guests of the family, rather than customers with little touches offered like some cut fruit when we returned from our day excursions. The rooms were cosy with a little verandah to sit on. The pool was clean and lovely to swim in after a hot day out. The owner also organised drivers for us when we wanted to visit the sights. We recommend the boat-ride on the Tam Coc River. The family even invited us to share in a home-cooked feast on our last night. They really came from the heart. We hope to return there someday. The bathroom seemed damp . The chairs on the verandah were old and could use updating. But we understood that they had just suffered through Covid, so were still recovering financially.

• Jenna (9/5): Superb - Located in a beautiful and picturesque part of Ninh Binh (Trang An), the room we stayed in (top floor balcony) was comfortable, clean and spacious, if a little rustic. The family were very keen to look after us, even though their English was limited. Bicycles were free to use and we liked being able to cycle out to all the nearby attractions such as the lake and Hang Mua, then come back and relax with a couple beers on the balcony or use the pool.

The owners Hoat and Hien are one of the most friendly people we have ever met and made our stay at the Ninh Binh Retreat unfortgettable. They invited us to dine with their family and friends to celebrate a national holiday. They made a real festive diner and even didn’t ask for money. A well deserved 5/5. Nothing

Thanks and be blessed! - Ninh Binh Retreat - Best Place in Vietnam It has been an awesome pleasure to stay at ninh binh retreat. The Place is in a beautiful surrounding or rice fields and Flowers with a beautiful view. It’s relaxing in every way. Food, fresh Smoothies and Whirlpool where just awesome to relax Body and Soul. I recommend you to stay at least 3 Days there, as Base for trips in the beautiful Area. All Beds are meanwhile with mosquito-net. Motorbikes were all good strong and reliable Yamaha. The Host Family are warm hearted, they will help you in any case and will do everything, that your stay there is extraordinary. In Our case, the wife provided some TCM Medicine Leaves, whom where very helpful. If you are lucky and staying for more then one night, you might get the chance of having dinner with the family. So you are able getting to know local speciality’s even better. We loved the fresh awesome food, local and any other style. For Breakfast you can choose different options, by duo lingual map - easy. I loved the pancakes with real - delicious honey. As couple we felt there very good, but is also good for single travelers, getting to know information about possibilitys around and easy to get in touch with other travelers, if you like so. I will come again and stay even longer. I somehow miss already the Hospitality of the Hosts, the place, the laugh and smiling together and sometimes the happy water. everything was great
