Guest Reviews
- Yasmin (8/5): - Great location close to the beach, we were on the ground floor so there was a bit of noise from the road but it was alright, the bed was incredibly comfy! We arrived very late in the night after a long travel delay but the staff kindly left our room key/check in details by the reception as it was closed by then. Thanks for a comfortable stay!
- Sarah (8/5): - This hotel has a location on a super busy stretch and parking, while limited, is available. Immediately when we arrived we encountered pickpockets and they are extremely brazen - watch your stuff! Hotel staff english was limited but they were helpful when we couldn’t work the room lights. Right next door is a mini market for snacks or beer you can bring to the garden. The hot tub isn’t exactly “hot” but a tepid plunge pool my son enjoyed. Tbh we didn’t love Varna which may colour my overall review; wish we would have stayed in Vama Veche a little further south.
- Arbora (10/5): - Lovely location right across from a very nice beach on the Black Sea. Spacious rooms and good service. Wish we could’ve stayed longer but do recommend
- Obada (10/5): - Good location, clean and very friendly staff
- Explorer17163462907 (4/5): Great location but no service with a smile - Stayed here for a long weekend to visit a friend in Varna. The location was great, the beach and the public outdoor swimming pool were just across the street.
We had a room on the first floor. The room was otherwise spacious but the gap between one side of the bed and wall was tiny and you couldn’t move the bed, so no getting out of the bed from that side.
The bathroom was tidy, not very big but suffy. However, the water temperature changed from hot to cold while showering. Also the plumbing didn’t work so well.
The wifi was very bad so ended up not using it. The same goes for the breakfast. There was some choice at the breakfast buffet but the quality was poor so we only ate there once.
The staff was very stone faced, don’t expect a smile especially from the reception staff. Only one lady of the cleaning staff was returning a smile.
The best things about this hotel are the location and general cleanliness.
- derivatives_trader (10/5): AMAZING PLACE!!! - AMAZING PLACE!!!
Beautiful views of the Black Sea
INCREDIBLE staff
THE place to stay in Varna!!!
You will NOT be disappointed!
Smiles every day and always ready to help any situation!
One of the staff gave me some medicine for a bad virus that had me almost incapacitated.
Wow!
Worked CRAZY!!!
She will ALWAYS be my friend for life.
Stay here
You will NOT wish stay anywhere else.
- Elitza (4/5): - The outside (building) fresh paint does NOT match interior condition. Staff was amazing and accommodating, they are the only reason I gave the two stars!
BUT the actual place is in urgent need of updating! Carpet was so gross we did not want to touch barefoot! I asked if we can change rooms, was shown another and it looked the same. The best I can describe it is a 60s-70s wall-to-wall dark blue mess, that has seen so much chemical treatment it felt like plastic! And yet still covered in stains and discolorations and stuff stuck in the plastic hairs of it…
If you plan to use couch - extremely uncomfortable and had all sorts of dips and lack of support and one could not lay flat properly.
Stay away! We will not be back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Lo esperado.
- R1274STbobc (4/5): Poor service - I was unfortunate enough to select this hotel for my month long stay in Varna.
While i agree its a budget hotel i expected beds you could sleep on rather than cheap foam mattresses which were the softest mattress i have ever slept on, a plug for the bathroom sink took 2 weeks to get, the bathroom mixer tap went from cold to scalding hence the need for a plug.
During torrential downpour i tried ordering food for delivery to the hotel, after failing i decided to ask the young receptionist but was meet with agression and downright cheek.
Breakfast was only just acceptable.
My company also booked a garage space due to the lack of fre parking round about, a few days before my departure i was advised this had not been paid by my company, on arriving at work i sent Belle Epoque an e mail asking for a copy of the garage invoice, no reply was received, on returning to the hotel in the evening i asked if they had received my e mail, another receptionist said yes but they had not replied as the parking invoice had been paid, the next day i was advised by the original receptionist it had not been paid, after a few more invoices and discussions the invoice was paid yet even after i left i received annoying e mails from the hotel regarding the garage bill which had been paid.
The good points, wifi was free and acceptable, hotel has a basic but useful outside seated area, room TV gave good selection of English channels though i was somewhat astounded to find pure porn on 5 of the channels, more so given the Belle Epoque describes itself as a family hotel.
Would i recommend the Belle Epoque, no i could not, it falls down on the basics, guest comfort, receptionist training, good manners and a few other basics one might expect.
Petit déjeuner too
- Q1773QDneilh (10/5): Belle Sejour a la Belle Epoque! - Under external refurbishment, so not much peace during working hours, but otherwise well designed, modestly priced, quieter than expected from its main road location. Staff really helpful and speak good English. Excellent cleanliness. Overall, a relaxing and satisfying experience.
- Stef (4/5): - This hotel is def not 4*! Expect badly maintained rooms with hanging wires and not working light switches, worn off bedding and dirty curtains. The sauna and jacuzzi didn’t work, the covid warnings signs are everywhere (not that anyone keeps them!), expect school guests to arrive at 3am and to creat a lot of havoc and noise, take over the small swimming pool. There are no signs like “don’t disturb” or “clean the room” - if you fail to respond to the door mocks, they will come in!
Staff was friendly tho and were doing what they can. This could be a much better hotel if someone cared.
- Irena (6/5): - Nice view, but renovations going on and room was not the one I requested. However, the next day I received the correct one.
- ste1472019 (2/5): STAY AWAY. THEY ARE SELLING THIS HOTEL AS A BUILDING SITE. - We booked this hotel for March 9-13th 2023. What can I say.... just look at the pictures that I've posted. This hotel shouldn't even be advertised for reservations in the condition it's in. The hotel & hotels.com have both refused my refund. How they can refuse to refund me is absolutely disgraceful.
All 4 walls of the hotel are covered in scaffhold & blanket. They have workers drilling all day long. The dust is horrendous. Totally unsafe.
Beware if you are elderly, have a pram or wheelchair as you can't even get access to the backdoor of the hotel (which is the temporary entrance) as they have scaffhold poles in the way.
The Hot tub is completely empty, the WiFi doesn't even work. Wow.... Again the pictures tell you all you need to know.
Stay away at all costs!!!!!
- Hanna (8/5): - Friendly staff. The hotel is a bit dated but charming. Good location next to the beach, 10 minutes to the station. Breakfast was not very big but nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hotel states that there is a free parking but there are only 4 slots. If you are not lucky to get one of them you go around to find parking on your own.
- Dora (8/5): - Great location near the beach. Clean.
- Christoph (10/5): - Great value for the price - decent hotel in perfect location to reach the beach. We were very satisfied with our stay!
- AchilinaS (8/5): Good location - Nice place. The hotel it’s clean and has a great location, just across the street from the beach. Room was ok, bathroom was also ok-ish. One big minus: noise. The beach clubs are near the hotel so don’t expect a silent stay. Parking was a bit of a downside. Breakfast was fine (10 leva/person/day).
- Bryan (10/5): - Great location. My room had a nice sea view. Very comfortable mattress
At this price point you can't go wrong
- Royce (10/5): Great hotel and location - This was a great place to stay in Varna. Right across the street from the beach. We could easily walk everywhere and found some excellent restaurants, especially fresh seafood.
- DavidL-7 (10/5): Beautiful rooms - Beautiful, spacious room, very well equipped.
Great location between the sea, the Olympic pool, the gardens, and the town centre
Helpful staff.
Highly recommended.
There really isn't a lot more to say.
- 988veronikav (8/5): Big rooms, good location - 4 of us (2 couples) were staying here for 3 nights. Absolutely enough for us. The hotel is clean, the rooms are big, breakfast is ok (filter coffee was not my taste but nespresso capsules solved my issue). Beach is across the road, perfect for beach style program. The city center is also walking distance which was perfect for us. Parking can be an issue but we were lucky with that too. Hotel has 4 slots for 7 rooms and not possible to reserve. Parking on the street can be an option, reception can help you with paying it via sms but you have to be a bit lucky (we were) to find a place nearby. We left Friday morning to visit the north, when we came back it was already out of business hours and weekend is free. Varna itself is about a few hours walk, some shopping and a day at the beach, that is why I’m saying: 3 nights absolutely enough. If you like laying on the beach for a week it would be good for that too. Ahh, the port is also very close with very good restaurants.
- eric (10/5): Super hôtel ! - Super adresse.
- Derren (8/5): nice enough place in a good location, troublesome - Hotel is fine. Room spacious and with everything you need, though I do wonder why so many hotels put only one chair in a double room. Really helpful and pleasant staff all round and in pole position for plenty of restaurants and bars. Breakfast average and the warm options were not very appetising. Biggest issue is parking. They have two parking spaces and put 4 cars in it, one behind the other, side by side. Parking in the area is a nightmare so arrive early and hope you can get one of the hotel spots. Of course, like us, you can get blocked in by another guest that didn’t tell the hotel that he had parked there. It took 15 minutes before the hotel established which of the many Romanian guests was the owner. Beware.
- CFanon (8/5): - Good location, very close to the beach and about a 10 minute walk to the square where a lot of the shops and restaurants are. Room is nice, if a little worn, but they are very loud in that you can hear everything your neighbors do and if you have a room
near reception, you will hear everyone all day long.
- PeterLivingston (4/5): Unpleasant surprise - The hotel has a good review on booking.com but reality is far from that. We got a room on the last floor, without the baby bed we ordered. Bathroom has not been cleaned properly and the toolet was dirty! The place is noisy, directly on the main street and club with music all night.
Breakfast is ok...only plus is the nice staff which tries to compensate for the crappy place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Right on the beach and near many restaurants.
- Maha-travels (10/5): Lovely sea side boutique hotel - Lovely boutique hotel with room facing Varna beach that is a 2 min walk. Diana was very helpful and patient with the many questions we had. Hotel has a nice outside terrace facing the sea and is a ten to fifteen minutes walk to city centre. Lots of grocery and fruit shops in the area. Really had an enjoyable stay especially that we were given free room upgrade.
Breakfast looked stale. We opted to go out for coffee and a pastry near by. It's nice though to have free breakfast as an option.
- Cafe recommendations: Stories Coffee & More and Sweet Parmy
- Aqua House for Spa & pool experience with nice restaurant on site
- Hubert (10/5): - Es war alles super, keine Beanstandung. Das Personal super freundlich und zuvorkommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ihana pikku hotelli hyvällä paikalla - Aivan ihana pikku hotelli loistavalla sijainnilla.
- Antti-Mikael (8/5): - breakfast good enough,friendly staff,receptionist a little tired,poor english.
be aware of the "free parking". room for 4 cars but the first two will be blocked by the two others behind them. no way to get out! had to wait for two hours when luckily the owner of the car who had blocked us came back to hotel. crazy system. i hope they change it to valet-style,then it works! we loved room 301,very spacy w several windows. view to the sea.clean!! but why total carpeting??
- Verified traveler (6/5): Gradevole albergo - Albergo pulito, ottima posizione, camera confortevole e dotata di accessori(wifi gratuito nelle stanze, tv, frigo, phon).
- andrewasroma (10/5): Exquisite gem in Varna - This small hotel was a very nice surprise. It has opened very recently. Position is excellent both to reach the beach than the pedestrian area and the main sites. Rooms are very clean and functional. Breakfast is very good and the pancakes a real treat. Staff at the reception very nice, professional and they all speak English. Nice little space outside to have breakfast or relax before dinner. Certainly my top choice for Varna.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice and comfortable room with excellent view - Clean room and bathroom. Excellent ocean views and location right off the beach.
- 799heleneb (10/5): Great place with amazing staff! - This boutique hotel is really nice, rooms are clean and well furnished, the location is amazing, just across the beach and near delicious restaurants but the best part is the staff! The two young ladies working the afternoon and night shifts are super helfpul and kind! We encountered issues with the our parking and they really helped us as much as possible.
There is a beach bar nearby which is a bit loud at night till 2AM. Please note there are only 4 available parking spots at the hotel.
- Richard (10/5): Great hotel by the beach - It was a great hotel, 11 rooms and perfect location for the beach concert that we were in Varna to see. Fortunately we were there early enough to get one of the four available car parking spaces.
- Katri (4/5): Money stolen and hotel doesn't care - Warning, please read this: We bought a couple of Bulgarian lottery tickets and won. Unfortuantely we noticed that a lottery ticket worth 20 Lev has been stolen from the hotel room on the second last day. We did mention this to the reception staff when checking out, and they acted shocked and ensured us that they would contact us via email as soon as they found out more. We believed them as they were friendly throughout our whole stay, but we haven't heard from them ever since (2 weeks ago). We tried to reach out to the hotel but they ignore our emails and don't reply.
This is really unfortunate because their friendliness throught our stay was always a refreshing change from the omnipresent unwelcoming atmosphere in Bulgaria. Up until the second last day, we were sure that we had made a good choice booking this hotel. Whereas the cleaning was far from perfect, the breakfast was okey, the room new and the AC awesome (thus the high overall rating). Only book this hotel if you can hide your money or use the safe, but remember that the hotel also has a key for it. Don't try to contact them afterwards as they won't reply.
Also, make sure to avoid the beach restaurant "Pico" which is right across the street. The staff there is surprisingly rude and tries to scam you.
- Pili (10/5): Buena situacion - Muy cerca d la playa. Trato del personal excelente
- Timon_Hakuna_Matata (8/5): Great location, comfortable beds, beautiful and clean rooms - The hotel is located on Primorski blvd next to the beach and has nice decor and furnishing. We stayed at the top floor and those rooms has an excellent sea view. The rooms are very clean and both functionally and beatifully furnished. Safety box, mini bar and hair dryer is available in the room. Air-condition works great. If you are sound sensitive I recommend earplugs since music and traffic in the area can be disturbing. The beds are extremely comfortable, the breakfast selection is good containing scrambled eggs, fried eggs, different sausages, fruit salad, bread, yoghurt and cereal, pancakes and nespresso coffee. At check-in we were very well taken care of by the front desk staff, especially the English (and German) speaking girl who was very service minded, helpful and gave us all the information that we needed for our stay. The lady responsible for the breakfast area is also very friendly and service minded.
- In some cases the French speaking staff didn't understand English and seemed a bit disturbed when I asked them questions.
- Champioooons (6/5): Disappointing ! - I booked this hotel based on the nice reviews and pictures it had on booking.com and unfortunately the reality was so much disappointing. I got one of the 5 rooms on the groundfloor which door is 1.5 meters from the reception, the head of the bed is 4 meters from the -quite busy- road (feels like sleeping on a parking) , without mentioning the giant swimming-pool just across the street which loud music starts 8am on a Sunday ! And be fooled by the "seaview" mentioned on the room description, only if you lean on the bed you will catch sight of some water by a small window through the cars passing and the trees branches....
- Ian (10/5): Excellently located and spotlessly clean - Stayed for 1 night only with family. Inside was in pristine, clean condition and immaculately kept. having free parking (although limited in number of cars) was a massive bonus when you are staying so centrally. The location was superb, moments from the beach and a large number of great restaurants just a stones throw away too. Nice little balconies for both our double rooms, ideal for sitting out for a glass of wine. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. All in all I will look no further than this place for my next visit to Varna!
- ConnaisseurFinlande (8/5): Nice hotel with the beach at its doorstep. - I had a room at the top floor of the building, and the view from there is astonishing! You have a clear view to the beach and sea. The room itself was very nice, it had 2 air conditioned devices, 2 tv sets, mini-fridge, cabinets and a sofa. In case you have to leave something of value at the room, there's a safe in one of the cabinets.
The hotel is excellently located close to the beach and to the port. At the port there are plenty of restaurants options. Right in front of the hotel there's a swimming pool (if the sea is not enough for you!). There are also a variety of restaurants, shops, bars and museums very close, so you won't get bored being around there.
The breakfast is included, I personally liked it as it includes some variety of options: boiled, fried and scrambled eggs (real eggs, not powder), very delicious bacon, cheese, local yogurt, fruit, cereals, biscuits, juice, coffee and tea.
The staff was very helpful and nice. The price was very good and overall the installations are ok. Two things I didn't like (but maybe they come because of local conditions) was that sometimes cold water failed to reach my room (be careful when you're taking a shower!), and when it's very hot weather, sewer odor comes out from the drainage, luckily the bathroom has an odor extractor, so it can be solved very fast, also opening the windows helps a lot.
It's a good option if you don't want to spend the time in an "all-inclusive" resort, and you want to share with locals and feel the real vibe of the city.
- Mehmet (10/5): Idare eder - Temiz yeni uygun bir hotel
- annageorgieva (6/5): patchy experience - the hotel is splendidly and conveniently located next to the beach and the sea garden. the room looked new. however, the breakfast was terrible, the room was not made the last day of my stay and i am afraid to say, something valuable disappeared while I stayed there. there is a chance I had misplaced it, though I cannot imagine how.
