Guest Reviews

- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing, incredible staff in a quiet area near where you can visit the South Korean side of the DMZ area. - It was great! The staff was exceptional! Helped with rides and tours so much! I will definitely stay here again! Nothing!

- Jessica (7/5): - Very kind host - dropped me off at the start of the race in the morning.
- Caroline (10/5): Amazing experience - I wish I had stayed longer. - Such an amazing host. He took me to the DMZ and helped me organise a tour at very short notice.
His friend even cooked us Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and did a specialty vegetarian one for me.
My only regret is I could not stay longer.
- Isabella (10/5): - Mr Yoon was so nice, and made sure to help us get tickets for the DMZ. He even arranged for us to ring the peace bell and made a dinner and breakfast for all of us. He created a wonderful memory for us! Big recommendation!
- McDermott (10/5): Guesthouse DMZ Stay is top tier. - The room was comfy, and Mr Yoon made it such a memorable experience. He drove us to and from the DMZ, gave us free drinks, and even showed us a bit of dancing. Definitely recommend.
- Gabe (10/5): -
- Linda (10/5): Best guesthouse, best hospitality! - The host Mr Yoon is the best host ever. We had lots of fun with him, and he picked us up and dropped plus off at the train station. It was really interesting to talk to him about Korean culture and history.
The guesthouse is very clean and comfortable, with lots of space for everyone. Me and my two adult children shared a bunk room and it was a good room for us.
You can walk to the DMZ park if you want to go there too, where there are interesting museums and activities.
It was nice to go to a part of Korea that was out of the city, and it was a good place where you could meet Korean people and travellers too.
- Woosuk (10/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Best place to be when visiting Paju & the DMZ - The Guesthouse offers all you need for a stay in the area or a DMZ visit. Our host was the best, picking us up from the station and driving us to the DMZ.
We had incredible Korean BBQ and a super fun evening. Thanks for everything.
- julia (10/5): - I want to say a big thank you to the owner for making my stay so enjoyable. N/A
- Richard (10/5): - Even before we arrived - we felt our stay at DMZ Guesthouse would be special and it certainly proved to be so.
Our host Mr. Yuun is the most charismatic, engaging and attentive person you could ever wish to meet.
We fully embraced the slower pace of life having previously stayed in Seoul. The countryside area of DMZ Guesthouse is so very tranquil and beautiful.
A mere 30 minute walk to the DMZ 3rd Tunnel, Observatory and Peace Park this guesthouse is ideally located for people who want to experience the DMZ tour at their own pace and yet be welcomed wholeheartedly each day at this accommodation.
The public transport is excellent and cheap with a T-Money card. If travelling from Seoul on the train to Musan Station, get the 052 bus outside Musan Train station (please check timings @ every 40 minutes) the last stop is a minutes walk away from the guesthouse. There are other buses that could be used - 058 and 093 that will leave you with a 5 minute walk. Cost was only W2,450 from Seoul to here.
Back to the Guesthouse - this is a great accommodation. We had the twin room but there are 2 dormitories that respect gender privacy. Seperate Male and Female shower and toilet areas adds to the respect.
The communal area has an inside and outside area within a combined kitchen with microwave, kettle and fridge. Also a coffee machine is available 24/7. Great breakfast is included with toast, jam, bananas and coffee which all tastes great.
If you want - then it could be arranged to have a BBQ but cooking your own food is the best option. There are a couple of restaurants within 2 minutes walking distance that are very good.
This guesthouse and our host will live in our memories for always. We had the most amazing experience and felt lucky to meet such an engaging person - especially with the DMZ tour on the doorstep.
Please also ask about the DMZ Waltz and the story behind it...truly emotional.
10 out of 10 in every way and we thank you Mr. Yuun.
- Konstantin Naoki (10/5): - It is a simple Guesthouse but the kindness of the owner and the location make it a unique experience!
- Faye (10/5): Amazing 🇰🇷🇰🇷 - The host, Mr. Yoon is the “local king” of DMZ area 😎😎 If you want to know the story about Korea, you must visit DMZ Stay Guesthouse 💯💯 If you want to do BBQ party, please remember to bring cash and Mr. Yoon may organise for you if you give a shout out in advance to Mr. Yoon 🍖🥓🥩🍗 The yard is the perfect place for BBQ… Just feel like home - a Korean home 🏠🏠 Kamsahamnida, Mr. Yoon 💯💯
- Gunter (10/5): -
- Joe (10/5): Nice experience in the DMZ , walk to the group tours - Great host , best I’ve ever had. Really goes out of your way
- Samuel (10/5): - The best experience you can have in South Korea.
A must-visit place
- Bingchen (10/5): - The president’s house is in a beautiful village near the border, right next to a single-track railway crossing—perfect for train fans. It’s close to the DMZ, within walking distance, and you can enjoy the countryside views along the way. The president is friendly, funny, and super handsome! The room was quiet, very clean, and the bed was super comfy.
Bardzo serdecznie go pozdrawiam. Nie było czegoś takiego
- Adam (10/5): Amazing experience - Exceptional experience. I have travelled for many years across over 50 countries and the hospitality of Mr Yoon was unmatched. He kindly picked me up from Munsan station and to the DMZ area, always offering to help at all times. He's a genuine and beautiful soul and I hope to visit again soon Nothing!
- Nathaphob (10/5): Exceptional - - Owner
- Price
- The location is the best near DMZ, good vibes in the evening, you can see real coutryside there.
- I love this place so much one of the best time in South Korea
- The food that the owner recommend me to eat also the best
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing idea. Very great option in a quaint little area not far from the DMZ. Gives you an opportunity to visit more like a local without having to take the bus tour from Seoul. You will have so much more freedom this way to visit at your own leisurely pace, and to see some of the other exhibits handy also. Owner is great and I must thank him for running me my sunglasses after I nearly forgot them before getting on the bus 😁 so glad I found this. Highly recommended.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - 📌 One of the best hosts I ever seen of all the solo travels I had, the host was very kind, nice, generous and helpful. Mr. Yoon is such a lfree-will, humble yet cool person!
📌 Facilities: Spacious common area, clean beds, bathrooms are decent and clean too, outside area is so peaceful and countryside vibe indeed! Which is what i loved and i liked!
📌Free Breakfadt at 8:30 am which is so cool! (BREAD, MILK, BANANA, JAM) which is a decent meal for me!
📌 Location: Once you are in Munsa Station there is a direct bus ezclusively already for the guesthouse just take #52 Bus (last stop) will take you directly to his guesthouse
📌 People in the hostel: very kind and nice based on my experience
📌 DMZ Tour: By far the nearest and cheapest DMZ tour yoi cna afford, Mr. YOON WILL TAKE YOU TO THE BUS STOP AND the dmz bus that time was 9.2k for foreigners (which is not bad if curiosity for dmz awaits you)
📌A small convenie ce store nearby across the guesthouse until 8pm only
📌 A bicycle rent for 10,000 won per day to stroll around the countryside area
Would I will stay again? Definitely yes! But for a longer term for sure For me personally its N/A but it depends on the people who wants to stay here, if you are a countryside lvoer you aill like this, but if you dont like countryside then you might not appreciate his place
- Steven (10/5): amazing guest hostel! amazing host near DMZ - Everything about this place is amazing if you are going to the DMZ.
Mr Yoon is AMAZING. he picked us up at the bus stop...even after bus took is to wrong place.. he knew where and came and got us... hosted us with his homemade kimchee and .... alcohol... I forget name as I don't drink...
he even kindly took us to one of his favorite spots on the Peace Trail.an pointed us in the direction of a few kilometers hike.
next day he took us to DMZ and helped us get our tickets. finally last day he ran us to train so we did not miss our train to Busan.
the hostel itself was great. free coffee all day and he give a nice little day started in the am. beds are comfortable and everything was great. even has bikes you can use... there is so much good stuff about this place I can't rate it high enough.
again, the area it's in is pretty local and not a lot to do, but there is a bus that stops right in front of it that will take you into the big part of the city and there's places to eat and if so, on...
so I don't know how much to do. there is around there other than a lot of hiking. or again, it's the perfect place if you plan on doing the DMZ.
and that being said
, it's just a great place to chill and enjoy Mr. Yoon. absolutely. nothing not to like
- Cheryl (7/5): Would I stay here again probably not - The host he was the best! This hostel could have been a little more organized and cleaner. The mattresses were foam and very uncomfortable. I doubled mine up.
- Charlie (10/5): Owner was amazing! Incredibly friendly and helpful! - Owner was amazing!!!
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay - great host -
Way cheaper and better way of doing DMZ
Cost us around 9 dollars to do the tour
Great time with the host
- Liang (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is very nice , show us and explain us this area. Even helps us for a lot of things, make us this trip easy and comfortable
- Nicholas (10/5): Had a wonderful stay, host was very kind and welcoming! - Wonderful host! Got great recommendations, was very friendly/kind, was even nice enough to drop me off at the train station. I felt very welcome..
Be sure to check out the restaurant next door if you can!! Nothing really.
- Verified traveler (10/5): ★★★★★ - Very friendly and helpful owner!
Thank you for taking me to DMZ bus terminal and translation everything for me.
- Egan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kui (10/5): Perfect - The twin room turns out much better than the photo shows. The whole guesthouse is super clean and comfy. The host Mr. Yoon is welcoming and made miltiple trips to transfer us from and to Munsan Station as well as the DMZ visitor center.
Highly recommend an optional private Bird Watching Tour offered by Mr. Yoon. The tour is only available in winter season which showcases elegant cranes from Siberia. Mr. Yoon drove us to a restricted zone where there are loads to see. This is easily the most enjoyable tour we have ever had.
- Neogo (10/5): Exceptional - Peace and quiet in the countryside, but easily accessible by bus.
- Jonas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominik (10/5): Good accomodation in excellent location - Very clean and organized space. The owner Yuun was really nice and welcoming and helped however he could. Bicycles are also available for rent but you might not even need them as it’s close to the DMZ and even walking is possible.
- Kristian (10/5): The host was fantastic! The location was amazing and it was just a really great experience! - The host was fantastic! The location was amazing and it was just a really great experience!
- Joao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joao (10/5): Exceptional -
- L (10/5): Definitely recommend! - I booked this guesthouse very spontaneously not knowing if I'd get to visit DMZ or not but the great references made me want to book it even just for meeting Mr Yoon! With the help of him, I was very lucky enough to still get ticket to visit DMZ the same day I arrived (even if I arrived late).
The references couldn't describe the owner better, Mr Yoon is such a kind-hearted friendly person. Definitely makes a big difference to your travel experience to feel so welcomed and sharing stories with a local.
Other than the host, the guesthouse is a nice big house, very clean and comfortable beds.
Thank you so much Mr Yoon for making my trip even more memorable!
- Benedikt (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely little Hostel and very friendly Host (Mr. Yun) just 1,5 - 2 km away from DMZ.
- Shermaine (9/5): Superb -
- Murat (10/5): Exceptional - Nicest people on the earth, thank you.
- Ted (10/5): Exceptional - Mr. Yun was a very respectful and accommodating host. He did the most to make sure his guests were comfortable.
- Alistair (10/5): Thanks Mr. Yoon. Nice to meet you. Hope to visit again in future. -
- Isaac (10/5): It’s a great facility with an amazing host. Definitely coming back - The host Mr Yoon is an amazing person. Great location for Imjingak, and Mr Yoon is very knowledgeable about the region because it’s his hometown The room was a bit cold in winter
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay if you're going to the DMZ, the owner Mr Yoon is a great guy, will offer a ride, cook up the meals. Highly recommended place.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Mr. Yun is a very good host and full of energy. Also, the proximity to the DMZ is great. Beds are comfortable, location is good though the only store nearby has a very small selection and closes quite early. No real complaints here.
- Kristina (10/5): Warm stay - sincerely kind host beyond comfort and cleanliness - Felt like a second home because the beds are so comfortable and entire place is kept clean. But more importantly, Mr Yoon is such a warm and kind host. It amazes me how he is able to singlehandedly take care of every single guest. He offered to pick me up from the train station and helped with the DMZ bus tour. He even went beyond by bringing me to a requested dragon's teeth location, arranging a picnic at a folk festival and writing down bus schedule when I was about to leave.
Location is good as it is near Imjingak/kick-off point for the DMZ tour and a local bus stop. It is not at the center of Paju but there are restaurants nearby. None
- Bianca (10/5): Generous owner provides excellent stay - Jun was the best! He picked me.up from town (multiple times) and transported me and another guest to the DMZ and acted as a guide for no charge. He was super friendly and generous. The place itself is simple and easy. It's in a quiet little village that isn't too far from the larger town or some interesting spots nearby. It was a bit quiet in the guesthouse itself for a solo traveller but I only stayed 1 night so can't complain. It's a shared bathroom which was a bit small but worked well.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly host and accommodating. Good way to see Dmz because you can hang around the area at your own pace, and see the other things besides just the bus tour thru the main sites. All good
- Nick (10/5): Great DMZ stay ! - What a great way to see DMZ ! So much better, and oh my cheaper too! then doing a tour from Seoul. Easy metro ride from Seoul to Munsan, Mr Joon will collect you from there and look after you well. Lovely clean hostel, new facilities. Semi rural setting, some nice eating places just around the corner. 20 min walk to DMZ to purchase your tour ticket. Easy, relaxing and fun, totally stress free.
I highly recommend everyone coming to stay here for this experience
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Great host. Comfy bed. Good value. Perfect for visiting DMZ.
Highly recommended.
- Jessika (10/5): Definitely recommend! - Yoon took such good care of me and the other guests! It really made the stay super enjoyable and comfortable. 😊 (Thanks so much again for your hospitality!)
- Premala (10/5): Best experience in Korea! - The hostel is fantastic, super clean and comfy, and perfectly located for the DMZ tour. I waited till the end of my Korea trip to write this review so I can honestly say this was the best place I stayed in, in all of Korea. Yoon is a fantastic host, genuinely wanting guests to have a good experience whilst travelling. He set up a bbq dinner for me and another guest and was so generous with everything including his year old kimchi and 1.5 yr old ginseng soju. We had really nice chats, and I not only had the best experience of Korean hospitality here but I gained a friend. Yoon also picked me up from the train station and dropped me off at the tour office the next morning (he does this for his guests if he's not working). A really fantastic place, I can't recommend it enough! 😊
- Roxane (10/5): Exceptional - This guesthouse is the best guesthouse we've been to in Korea! Everything is so clean and fresh but best of all is Mr Yoon, the host! He always made sure we had everything we needed. He showed us around alot and drove us to the dmz zone. We were suppose to stay 2 nights but ended up staying 2 extra nights! We spent amazing evenings at the guesthouse together with the host! Breakfast was really yummi with good croissants!
- Vera (8/5): Very good - The owner of the DMZ Stay is wonderful. He helped us with everything, drove us to Imjingak and Heiri and answered all our questions. We enjoyed our stay a lot and drank a lot of delicioua coffee 😄.
Thank you.
- Benhur (9/5): nice and clean - very homy
- Emmanuel (10/5): We had a wonderful time - This place is the pinnacle of Korean hospitality! It is cute, clean, has nice coffee and the owner Yoon is extremely kind and helpful. He took us on tour and always made sure we had what we needed. He speaks good English and answered a lot of our questions about the area and the Korean culture. We now consider him a friend. We’re very happy about our stay.
