Guest Reviews
- Eves (10/5): Actually fabulous value for money - Staff were so welcoming and helpful, even carried our bags to our room. Room is a great size for a family with the single bed being round the corner from the double making it easier not to disturb our 6 year old once he was asleep. The staff made up for any small qualms we had, will be using here again. A few cobwebs in the room, bit that is probably being a little picky as otherwise it was clean. Bed matress has seen slightly better days but we got enough sleep.
- Rose (8/5): Very good - An unusual quirky hotel, full of lovely character and very friendly staff . Nothing, it was a lovely unusual place to stay.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - The lovely friendly staff & atmosphere of the hotel
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - Returning for the final night to stay in Room 12, the same room we had for the night of our wedding. We enjoyed a wonderful tasting menu in the restaurant, an excellent night's sleep, and a delicious breakfast. We left with full tummies and great memories. Thank you Priory family, you did yourselves proud.👏👏👏

Lovely setting within walking distance to town centre. Charity ethos was amazing and refreshing to see and the breakfast was fantastic. Nothing

- Donna (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (10/5): Great stay - Fantastic, great stay, lovely building breakfast and service Shame that I heard it's at the end of lease, we would have made it a regular stop..

- Philip (6/5): We are regulars so enjoy the place shame it’s closing - The query nature of the place The stairs are difficult to manage
- Kelvin (8/5): Very good -
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ron (2/5): Would not recommend to anyone - Little to like The room was was up flights of narrow wooden stairs in a very poorly lit stairwell
The lighting was so poor unable to shave in bathroom as so dim - my complaint and request for new bulb not met.
Toilet bowl was dirty with faeces on arrival
Room not made up for second day of stay
- Wharmby (10/5): Staff were excellent - Very quaint with a lot of history The property is an old historic building so you have to understand what can you do
- Kevin (10/5): Most excellent, the accomodation for my next trip to Louth is sorted. - The breakfast was exceptional, probably the most flavoursome I've experience at any hotel. The fried bread in particular needs mentioning as this is not your run-of-the-mill fried bread. Chatting to the chef after expressing my thanks for such a great meal, he explained that they infuse the bread in oil for 2 days be for it is delicately fried. The result is exquisite!
- Kh (10/5): Great stay Brilliant staff . - Fantastic staff members Thomas , Lily and Leah. Welcomed us and made our stay very enjoyable and when we mentioned that we would love to visit again we were told that sadly the hotel was closing down soon . We found this place too late ! Wishing you all the best in the future.
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely quirky little hotel friendly staff this was our 3rd time, glad we went as its closing in a few weeks, will really miss our little breaks,so if you're thinking of going enjoy 👍
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff and accommodating staff
Breakfast was very good
Would definitely stay there again if I go back to Louth
- John (8/5): Pleased to have been able to stay having given short notice. - Our stay met our rewuirements No commentstaff we’re both helpful and polite
- Holmes (10/5): Exceptional - This is a lovely, quirky hotel with lots of history and varied decor. I love the nautical theme in one of the dining rooms.
The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble.
The food was absolutely stunning.
The restaurant is open to all and they do an amazing taster menu, would highly recommend. The fact that it is closing in June 2025.
- Jane (10/5): Brilliant. - Lovely staff. Plenty of space to park. Very comfortable bed, and fresh clean towels provided. Ample tea bags/ milk etc. Nothing.
- Karen (10/5): Absolutely FAB staff and hotel - As soon as you walk in the door your welcomed with a huge smiling face. Staff are wonderful helped us with our bags. Thomas lovely General Manager nothing was a problem for him if you asked. Dogs welcomed. Closing soon.
- Peter (8/5): Relax and Enjoy - As stated in the blurb the hotel gives adults with learning challenges the chance to have employment. As such, you are guaranteed a warm welcome. And the care and attention during breakfast was brilliant. And very tasty.
Bed was super comfy and a nice hot bath was very relaxing. We both slept very well. The hotel is old but full of character. Modernization would be very difficult and would lose some of its quirkiness. A few of the light fittings could do with updating and a bit more attention to dusting around the cabinets by bedsides could do with a little improvement.
- Louise (8/5): Perfect location and friendly people - Love the Quaint look and design of building Nothing
- Tom (10/5): Loved it every time I stayed here. So sad to see it go. - I love this place and am so sad that it's closing. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I especially love the ethos of the Priory Hotel as a business that helps the community. It really is so sad that it has to close. Absolutely nothing.
- Tracey (9/5): Warm, friendly, efficient - Lovely warm and very efficient welcome from Thomas and Daniel. Took my bags to my room for me. Room very clean, bes super comfortable.
Accommodated my having to book in early and change as I was going to a wedding during usual book in times. Breakfast service again friendly and efficient and food was great. For me nothing it absolutely served my needs. If you're looking for sleek and modern this isn't for you. If you happy with an old building that creaks but a warm, friendly and efficient staff group then you'll be all good. The staff here was better than many much larger hotel chains I've stayed in which is to their credit.
- Ken (8/5): It is a shame the hotel seems to be closing. Such an unique experience with memorable food and staff -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cameron (7/5): Value for money super friendly enjoyable - Vintage charm Could be cleaner
- Colin (7/5): Excellent staff and food are keeping a tired old ship afloat - Very good food and the staff was excellent. Welcoming, engaging and ever-helpful I don’t normally write damming reviews and I feel bad with this one as the staff members deserve a much better rating, however, the lack of maintenance of the property is sadly showing the hotel in a very negative light. The decor is in pretty poor order throughout and some of the building features such as the sash window frames in poor state of repair. Our electric shower was not good (severe leak from the heat-exchange unit). Our room appeared to have been a single at some point and in all honesty, should still be used as a single as lack of space made room-time less than comfortable and awkward for two to move around and use. The very small hand-basin in the en-suite added to a fairly poor room experience. Although the bed linen and towels were clean, there needs to be more thorough cleaning of most of the public hotel rooms. This may be exacerbated by the need of decoration, height of rooms and sheer scale of the task but the overall feeling is a little ’grubby’
Sorry
- Kathleen (8/5): A lovely relaxing break. - Great location, tasty breakfast, comfy bed and lovely staff.
- Tom (7/5): Good - There was no cold water feed to the shower or tap in room 8
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (8/5): We loved it comfy bed, everything we needed in our room !! Fab brekkie 😁 - Lovely hotel, bit dated but clean , staff lovely welcoming and friendly , brekkie fabulous Had to wait for Lois to flush but in fairness an older property
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Liked charitable ethos, staff were helpful and friendly, saw a little deer right outside in the garden, felt like you'd stepped back into history liked it all
had to miss breakfast as didn't serve until 8am and I had to leave at 7.30am
sure it would have been great!
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Roberta (9/5): A stunning building in a very convenient location - the highlights were the staff & food! - Upon arrival I was made to feel most welcome with genuine warmth & a very helpful check-in. The Priory was gorgeous both inside and out with wonderful furnishings, mood lighting & fires lit all of which contributed to a fabulous atmosphere.
The little touches like a hot water bottle and bedtime chocolates were a sweet touch & I slept very well on both nights.
All the staff were polite and charming and both breakfasts were impeccably served and presented and cooked to absolute perfection. The room was a little dated & needed some maintenance particularly around the windows & my personal preference is a stand alone shower but really none of this affected my stay.
I am so sad that such a fabulous & unique concept is having to close as we really need these special places and people.
- Dale (8/5): Very good - Very welcoming staff and although the place is obviously under some modernisation it has a lovely character
- Dan (10/5): Inspirational stay truly memorable enjoyed it immensely - Lovely old building good central location in Louth. Fantastic food Great service Nothing
- Helen (7/5): Friendly comfortable stay - Breakfast delicious. Staff friendly and helpful.Location perfect for us. Comfy room Room not v clean( rubbish in 1 drawer, floor grubby)
Noisy late evening, not sure where the banging and crashing came from!
- Anita (6/5): Honest review - Very caring staff... Great breakfast... Quaint hotel.. Good parking... 5 mins walk to shops... Lovely friendly atmosphere. Quite a dusty room but I cleaned it as best I could and didn't complain as I know like me as I am disabled off a stroke, people who are disabled in some way help out which is a great thing for them to do and not everyone can see things that other people can.
- Tracy (9/5): amazing staff, really kind and friendly and food is delicious everything was very clean - old house and furniture nothing
- Sylvia (10/5): A place of joy. - Characterful, quirky and cosy building. Love returning here, the staff and the ethos around this place give a shot of pure joy. Food is fantastic, the service is friendly, warm and uplifting. A huge thank you for making our stay so wonderful (as always).
- Ireland (7/5): Good -
- Simon (9/5): Superb - It was good value for the money.
- Lynne (1/5): Bad - Breakfast was awful obviously the pans are not cleaned
- Bournenerja (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (8/5): Very good - Quirky property, good location, friendly staff. A visit to your grandma stay.
- Bruce (9/5): Superb - Great location and superb staff.
- Ginger52 (10/5): Highly recommend. - Staff were fantastic. Special shout out to Daniel. Made us smile at breakfast very friendly and just a lovely man. Beautiful building, great choice for breakfast and great location. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the staff, Daniel was amazing! Such a lovely welcome from them all.
The bed was super comfy. Very quirky. Gardens were stunning. Breakfast was great, the best bit about my stay was the service having breakfast, the girl and Daniel couldn't do enough for us.
The main guy was pleasant and very friendly.
It's great that special needs people are included and given independence in the way! Fantastic idea, made my weekend. Thank you. The only thing I didn't like was no mirror to do hair and make up with..
- Elizabeth (10/5): Just wanted to stay and drink coffee but commitments meant we had to leave straight after breakfast - The staff were really pleasant and attententative The coffee/tea facilities in room were plentiful.
Loved the towel swans on bed. The parking is a little tight but staff came out to move an obstruction
- Stephen (8/5): Interesting.Good people with hearts of gold - People were friendly and helpful. Local drinks.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Fabulous stay burnt su h a shame it is closing - Amazing old building with the friendliest staff ever. Lovely bar with a great selection of unusual bar games. Breakfast was fabulous. A real gem at a bargain price. A little tired in places but I understand the hotel is closing down in a few weeks so completely understandable
- David (10/5): Best stay ever. - The staff at the hotel were exceptional and nothing was a bother. The rooms are lovely and was spotless the breakfast was great. You are close to all the amenities and was able to leave the car and just walk.
I also think what they do for the community is exceptional and if I lived closer I would love to be able to offer time to do anything they needed they work so hard and help so many people I can't score these people high enough. We will definitely be going back. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Christopher (10/5): Great hotel with even better staff - This is such a lovely hotel, in an amazing historical building. The owners and staff are so lovely and I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.
- Pete (10/5): - The staff are so friendly. Thank you Ben for all your help and thank you Paul for the beautiful food. We were made to feel so welcome. We will be back. Ann and Pete room 3.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight Stay - Third time stopping. Never disappointed. Hearty English breakfast. What’s not to like:)
- Andrea (8/5): Very good - Great breakfast, staff really friendly, plenty of parking, close to town
- Steven (8/5): Lovely stay - Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in a wonderful old building in an excellent location. Yes the building is in need of a certain amount of renovation, but don’t let this stop you from staying here. The downstairs rooms are full of character and welcoming, but the main draw to staying here is the ethos of what it’s all about. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you. Too many names to thank for making this a special place. Long may this establishment continue to thrive.
- Chris (9/5): Well worth a punt. Top food, Great for town centre -
- Wayne (9/5): Give this great hotel a try, it’s a hidden gem. - The hotel was right in the heart of Louth. It had some interesting history and original architecture. The rooms were clean and the bed comfy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. Nothing

- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely fantastic stay could not ask for better. The staff so attentive made it a special stay .Never wanted to leave .Can't rate it enough .
- Brian (8/5): A beautiful 1850s building and grounds with welcoming staff and tidy accomadation. - Nothing bad, everything fried at breakfast rather than grilling the bacon, but all good. The property was a beautiful old building. No, it was all up to expectations. Shame it will be closing soon.
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - The easy friendly atmosphere. I liked e
- Jon (8/5): - Quirky nice breakfast and sleep cobwebs in room dusty tired bathroom

- Colin (8/5): Beautiful period hotel with helpful staff. - The Staff are brilliant and are very pleasant, and couldn't do enough for you.
The food is lovely and well cooked.
The hotel is beautiful, is in a wonderful setting, and is full of period features. Noise from other rooms.
Because the hotel is a converted house and has poor sound insulation you do tend to hear other guests talking, snoring, using the bathroom, and what there watching on tv.
- Andrew (10/5): A ray of sunshine - Nothing
- Slcrofts (8/5): Very good - Excellent position for town, off toad private parking. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would return again. All ok.
