Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): Perfect in every respect with the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. -
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Sarah (5/5): Warm and Friendly but needs a serious renovation - The location was perfect for us. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and great quality. Gardens beautifully maintained Extremely dated and in need of renovation but it is closing shortly to change ownership so hopefully they will do a much needed refurbishment
- Duzi (6/5): - The location Nothing
- Adrienne (9/5): Homely hotel in fabulous location. - Lovely retro feel hotel. Great views from room. Clean with lovely bathroom.
Staff friendly. Relaxed pace.
Dinner was really good with a fine dining feel. A few noises like heating during night. Could hear folks chatting and coughing and walking about in room next door or above us.

- Matthew (8/5): Great hotel to stay for a couple of nights. Staff are excellent. - Fabulous location. Good Breakfast. Staff were fabulous. Restaurant staff were cheery and keen..... Some of the more experienced members of staff could coach the newbies a little to bring there skills up to par.... but overall superb.
The Gardens were lovely and in summer would be fantastic to sit out in..... Rooms were warm. We had a suite as a treat, however the upstairs part of it never was used.... the bed should be up there and downstairs a living room.... Bathroom fittings are ready for a makeover. Moving away from carpets to wooden floors would help dust levels....

- Julie (9/5): We had a very pleasant, relaxing stay and the staff were very friendly & helpful. Thank you - Good breakfast, very friendly staff, very generous size room & kept very clean. We thought some of the decor was a bit tired but it didn't detract from a very pleasant stay
- Emmanuela (8/5): -
- Joanna (9/5): Brilliant - Lovely hotel, friendly staff, food was brilliant, very clean room! Breakfast only started at 8 which is when I was supposed to be in the office so had to request an early breakfast and felt really inconvenient :(
- Borja (3/5): Disappointing stay with constant noise - The setting of the hotel is beautiful, the staff were polite, and the breakfast was complete and satisfying The room design felt very outdated and tired, not what I expected for this category of hotel. Worst of all, there was a continuous motor-like humming sound through the wall, day and night. It was impossible to sleep without earplugs. Instead of a peaceful countryside break, it felt like trying to rest next to a machine
- Martin (9/5): Nice one night stay very good value for money! - Lives up to its 4 star rating very welcoming attentive staff not busy when I stayed but still full facilities available. Great food good service all food well presented and hot. Evening meal service was good nice choice though one page for food menu but ten pages of wines? Quite expensive too!
Breakfast was superb!
Very nice gardens with lovely views Room was quite hot
bit dated decor
hotel is deep in countryside

- edward (10/5): a charming gem of a place that is well worth the journey and an excellent base to explore the Forest of Bowland - charming situation, old farm house with flagstone floors under neath carpet. all good
- Marion (8/5): Lovely stay - Set in beautifully maintained gardens.
Staff are friendly.
Room was good
Food , both dinner and breakfast were very good.
Overall enjoyed our stay. Nothing
- Grant (10/5): - Stayed before so know the standard of the place. Still not got a seat in the gents toilet in the bar.
Reception say everyone has complained for years
- Mike (10/5): -
- mark (7/5): Average - Location Wifi awful
- John (8/5): Nice hotel that I would return to - Lovely place and location
Breakfast spot on
Good pricing
Well kept & maintained A little bit dated in places
- Margaret (9/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): A very enjoyable and relaxing short break. - The staff were all highly competent and friendly. Sunday lunch was very good with an extensive menu. A choice of "real" ales in the bar was most welcome.
- Procter (9/5): Very good - Food good choice Limited little choice for anyone who didn't want a friend breakfast More choice at breakfast
- Heloisa (8/5): -
- Bill (9/5): Ticked all the boxes. - Very spacious and comfortable room. Large en-suite bathroom with excellent shower. Very good evening meal and first rate breakfast. The hotel is in a lovely, remote setting and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): -
- Maria Jose (9/5): - muy bien
- dunn (9/5): Super relaxing birthday break - Breakfast was excellent. Beautiful gardens well maintained great setting. Nothing
- Malcolm (8/5): 3 night stay - Lovely buildings, nice character and staff were friendly and always on hand. We had dinner the first night and that was superb, very nicely presented and delicious. The room was huge and had all the conveniences you would expect in a hotel, tea coffee etc.. overall a very pleasant stay, and the bar area was comfortable and relaxing. Shower in room 20 was poor, very little pressure and could not alter the shower head, also when they came to make the bed etc.. during the day they never restocked the milk or coffee, had to ask at the bar on the night. Although it had TVs in the room, they were basic, could not access netflix etc..and no usb option, not a massive issue as not really there to watch TV but would be a nice option especially when it was raining so heavy, oh and the lanes and roads to the hotel are very narrow in places, not the hotels fault, might be worth keeping in mind if your not confident driving these roads.
- Ann (10/5): - Lovely atmosphere and dedicated staff
- Ron (10/5): A lovely place to stay. - The hotel is in a lovely setting. The rooms are large and comfortable and the dinner is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have their own bakery and kitchen garden, so everything is fresh. The facilities are a bit tired.
- Andrew (9/5): Right place, right price, enjoyable - Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was good. Breakfast was very tasty as long as you enjoy a full English!!! Wi fi was a bit patchy.
- John (9/5): -
- Jane (6/5): Comfortable stay if your nearing retirement and don’t need any additional add ons after booking. - Very large beds. Clean. Breakfast choices basic although very tasty. WiFi poor especially as phone signal non existent. Hotel not very accommodating. Could be as booked through booking.com but probably won’t return. Decor quite dated. Breakfast choices basic.
- Anna (10/5): Peaceful and quiet. - Stunning location in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Remote, nice and quiet.
A white-tablecloth restaurant with superb food, served by friendly staff. Large car park located at the front of the hotel, away from the road. The garden is a work of art, where you can sit with a cup of coffee, and enjoy peace and quiet (chirping birds, mooing cows, and sheep are the only things you will hear). Stay as you are.
- Wright (10/5): -
- Cristina (9/5): Lovely hotel and grounds - The hotel grounds are lovely. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom was very large and luxurious. The food at the restaurant was very good and the staff were polite and professional. My only dislike was the room in a separate building. Luckily it was dry so no need to dress for rain to get to dinner and breakfast.
- James (10/5): Faultless - Fantastic garden Nothing
- Chris (9/5): It was lovely to be waited in hands and feet in such lovely surroundings. - Gardens were beautiful. Staff were very attentive and helpful. WiFi connection.
As I have mobility problems I couldn't get into the ɓath and so couldn't shower. Walk in shower would have helped.
- Baker (10/5): - Friendly staff booked us in early as they knew we were going to lunch elsewhere for 80th birthday.
Room lovely, bed very comfortable.
- Kath (9/5): Enjoyed our stay and would probably return. - Food was excellent and the rooms were quiet so wasn’t disturbed at night. Gardens were stunning- beautiful place to get married. Very quiet but no atmosphere, felt you had to whisper so others couldn’t hear your conversation. Was music in the background but needed to be louder. Some outdoor areas needed a clean (cobwebs and dead flies)
- Paul (7/5): -
- Alan (9/5): -
- Roger (9/5): -
- thomas (9/5): - Lovely hotel and excellent staff
- juli-ann (10/5): A most enjoyable experience from the welcome to the goodbye - The welcome and ongoing friendliness of vivienne who couldn’t have done more for us was initially wonderful… our rooms were extremely quiet and the breakfast was amazing…being able to choose just whatever we wanted off the menu however we wanted it …also the grounds were something else, we were lucky as the weather was fantastic and we took time to walk around the grounds which were vast Everything was wonderful… only thing I could say is that the room was just starting to get a little tired , we had a cracked sink , and unusually for uk the weather was very hot , would have benefited from a fan as obviously air conditioning is very rarely needed in uk
- Gina (10/5): -
- Rod (8/5): A little difficult to find, but well worth the effort. - Good staff, good food, good parking, excellent location, superb garden. I would come again - either for luch or an overnight stay to let my wife see the superb garden. My room (a single) was small-ish and run-down (eg wooden window frames in need of repair). But it was adequate for just myself for one night.
- Dowling (5/5): Frustratingly very poor wifi and overall disappointing - The location, and the gardens - beautiful. The dining area was lovely overlooking the terrace and gardens. Driving to the hotel was lovely. Staff had expectations of guests, and there was clear discrimination evident between a few customers which was disappointing to see. One couple asked to sit out side on the terrace which did not go down well with staff. The wifi was awful, and I could not get signal on my phone till I was back in a village! And only PG tea bags - only 2! No choice of herbal tea - given I was in a Queen's room, I was not overly impressed.
- christine (9/5): -
- Helen (8/5): - Lovely location & gardens. Public areas very pleasant Room felt a little dated. TV did not work at all but to be fair to the hotel they did reduce the bill to offset.
- Kirsty (6/5): Comfy bed, pretty gardens. - The room was large and comfy.
The gardens are beautiful and the location is good if you like the countryside and have a car. The charge to bring my dog was unreasonable for just one night and not properly communicated in advance.
While the food was nice, eating at the restaurant was not enjoyable because I found the waiter to be condescending when I asked to be seated outdoors. “We don’t sit outdoors for formal dining” I did notice this rule was bent for a man who requested his dinner in the garden.
The WiFi is awful and the cable tv even lost signal at one point.
Coffee facilities are basic.
This hotel could improve by modernising a little with smart tvs, proper wifi and better coffee machines. Also, when people pay for a suit, a small fridge is normally expected.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Felicity (9/5): -
- STEVEN (8/5): -
- Janet (6/5): Good location, lovely grounds and good breakfast. - Location and breakfast The room was above or close to the kitchens and the ventilation system was noisy and interrupted sleep. Dinner was not an option beyond 7:15 pm which was inconvenient for a late check-in after an exceptional long journey.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Steve (9/5): - Location. Food.
Staff. The rooms were a little basic but comfortable
- Gordon (7/5): Very relaxing great staff team - A little bit tired but staff setting and food excellent Needs an update
- Claire (8/5): Lovely relaxing stay at Gibbon Bridge - A lovely 2 night stay at Gibbon bridge - it is exactly what it claims to be - a comfortable country hotel. Beautiful surrounding countryside with good walks/drives in the area. Standout was the friendliness and helpfulness of the team - from reception, housekeeping and restaurant teams - everyone went out their way to assist and have a friendly chat while going about their responsibilities. The facilities provided were as advertised and can definitely recommend the restaurant - food was delicious and reasonably priced. Thanks again to everyone part of the hotel team. Nothing - note to some of the feedback seen on booking.com - this is a country hotel as advertised i.e. suites are comfortable, spacious and charming - Stay in a chain hotel if your preference is otherwise - I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery/garden and lovely hotel team so was ideal for my relaxing few days break
- KIeran (10/5): - Lovely setting, fantastic hotel, brilliant staff. Can't recommend highly enough
- Craig (8/5): -
- Andy (10/5): -
- wendy (10/5): Very restful, friendly staff and a great area to explore. - Room size and facilities. The wonderful gardens and lovely staff.
- Margaret (9/5): -
- Jennie (8/5): - Location was lovely and the gardens were beautiful, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent Unfortunately the wifi did not work in my room
- Roger (8/5): -
- Guest (10/5): -
- Bignell (7/5): Very pleasant, nice room, friendly people and nice breakfast -
- AUDRA100 (10/5): - Everything loved my room like a little house staff were lovely and helpful the only downside was evening menu wasn't much choice Nothing was wrong everything was excellent
- Pete (9/5): Relaxing - Peaceful Location was superb and the outside terrace is a fantastic place to have a drink and relax . Staff all friendly and welcoming and both evening meal and breakfast were of a high standard and good value for money . Nothing
- Goldring (10/5): -
- Chris (4/5): Nice location but very outdated rooms - Nice outside areas and bar space Rooms were very outdated paid extra for a suite but looked nothing like the website
- John (10/5): -
- Max (9/5): Left my money in my room. immediately informed and sorted. - Ok
- Ajith (10/5): Fantastic hidden gem - We loved the stay here and hotel gardens, hotel and staff were great. A little gem we found recently and not far from us. both dinner and breakfast was brilliant none

- Martie (9/5): -
- Norma (9/5): A really pleasant and comfortable stay - The grounds were beautiful and our room was very tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean Everything was great, tho perhaps the reception area could be updated a little
- Rhian (9/5): -
- John (7/5): very pleasant stay, bedroom clean, very good bed linene & towels, furnishings/decorations dated - good no air con or fan in room during very hot weather
- Graham (9/5): Value for money in a quality location - A delightful place to rest and unwind. The surrounding countryside and the beautiful grounds made it ideal for me. The food to price ration was exceptional. An ideal venue too for a wedding. The owner Janet was charming over a bottle of very reasonably priced Rose. I am rebooking a weekend in the autumn! My particular room had little internet connectivity
Elsewhere in the hotel however no issue. .
- Sue (9/5): Very comfortable and friendly hotel, setting and staff were excellent and the food outstanding. -
- Geoffrey (10/5): -
- Jdg (8/5): It's worth it for the relaxing and stunning garden out the back of the hotel - The beautiful garden at the back of the hotel is so relaxing. The food is very good and the staff are cheerful and helpful. The rooms were a little dated, WiFi (unpaid) wasn't very good
