Guest Reviews
- Claire (10/5): Fabulous stay!š - EVERYTHING! (I rarely write reviews but just had to here!š)
My friend and I needed a little break and chose The Eagle and Child and wow... we're so glad we did! š
The staff were lovely and couldnt do enough, especially Troy who made us laugh even with severe hangovers! 𤣠The food was gorgeous and amazing quality! š The beer garden is gorgeous and we spent a lovely afternoon drinking prosecco and spritz cocktails in the sun chatting with other customers š
Room was beautiful, clean and had everything we could wish for, including a juliet balcony where we sat late into the evening admiring the fabulous views š It was a perfect day and night away and we will DEFINITELY be back soon! š Nothing! Everything was just perfect! š
- reynolds (10/5): A superb stay here and a delicious meal - I loved the wonderful staff, so helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, cosy and well stocked with tea, coffee, snacks and breakfast basket. Bathroom was lovely, modern and clean. Dinner in the restaurant- exceptional.
- Charlie (5/5): - The room was lovely and very clean. Stairs to it could do with a re fresh. Wonderful views and breakfast was tasty..The lovely young man who welcomed us was great at his job and loved our complimentary drinks... The fire alarm went off at 3am and we all rushed downstairs. We found 2 phone numbers and 1st no reply then 2nd told us how to turn off...It said basement so we just couldn't relax and didn't get back to sleep. Asked for refund but no reply from owner or booking.com Breakfast music was far too loud and felt we were in a rock concert...not a relaxing Breakfast or stay....
- Tim (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Nice stay - The room was lovely. The staff were very friendly
- Frank (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff, the room was lovely and a good size. Thereās a fridge in the room which they stock with milk, orange and yogurt, thereās a basket of croissants, fruit and cereals. The pub downstairs is excellent, good wine and the food is excellent. Wouldnāt stay anywhere else in the area.
- Emma Jane (8/5): Beautiful location - Location and appearance room was nice. Great views. Nothing just the fire alarm went off so this resulted in lack of sleep maybe get sensitivity looked at if applicable.
- Mcnab (8/5): - The views where lovely, all my needs and wants were met. Took my little dog and he was spoilt with dog bed treats in the room. Breakfast top notch, š š
- Andrew (5/5): - Staff fantastic and room spotless. Minor areas need repainting and fire alarm going off at 3:10am.
- Shelagh (10/5): Great one night stay - Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely food in the pub. comfortable room and bed
- Evans Doig (8/5): -
- Jo (7/5): -
- Mamoona (1/5): Misleading presentation of the accommodation and disappointing customer service experience. - The listing did not clearly communicate that the accommodation is located within and accessed through an active pub environment. The description mainly referred to a bar/restaurant, which is common for many hotels, and the photos gave the impression of a more separate hotel-style stay. Due to my religious beliefs, this made the accommodation unsuitable for me and I had to arrange alternative accommodation at additional cost. I also found the handling of the situation afterwards disappointing.
- Julie (10/5): Will definitely return, but wonāt eat there, very expensive and small portions - Fabulous room, nice breakfast, and it was immaculate The meal we had was lovely, but my partner thought his meal wasnāt enough for him, he had the lamb but the plate hardly had any food on it, so I had to give him half of my meal, so his meal would of been better value for money with more veg and potatoes.
- Dan (7/5): Great if you want a poor quality cold breakfast in your bedroom - Great bar & restaurant Breakfast in the bedroom is a massive let down. I travel the world and Iāve never had breakfast in my bedroom when there is a great restaurant in the same building. For this reason only I wonāt stay there again.
- Margaret (8/5): A very enjoyable stay. - Very friendly and helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant, the food was excellent, in fact one of the best UK restaurants we have used in a long time. Breakfast was a little uninspiring, but not a complaint.
- Linda (10/5): - Great breakfast
- Dom (9/5): - Road was a little noisy. Double glazed windows would be an improvement.
Wasnāt sure what to do with key when I left early in the morning
- Guy (9/5): Nice friendly place to stay. - Good location, friendly staff, very helpful, nice room good shower Like to open a window, found tv very difficult to work, agd thing.
- Carol (9/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Graham (9/5): Excellent staff, lovely room, superb food - Staff, rooms, food. All excellent Parking was poor. Scooter taking up a car space
- Chris (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Great place to stay in Ramsbottom with excellent food and a comfortable bed. - The Full English Breakfast at the Eagle and Child was the best breakfast I had in our entire trip to the UK. My mouth still waters thinking back on it.
Great atmosphere and cool to see the history of the site (there's been an operational pub/inn there since the 1600s).
Location was pretty cool too with great views down into town and across the valley to the moor on the other side. Had expected a somewhat larger room, but we probably didn't read the description accurately. Was manageable, but on the smaller side.
- Jen (4/5): Wonāt stay again - The staff were friendly The room, ripped carpet, topper curtain, bathroom shower door seal hanging off and mouldy, room is on a slant which means the bed is also on a slant, some chocks under one end would help! The mattress is like a hammock and I woke up with shoulder pain, doors are thin and so corridor noise is loud, the food however was nice and we enjoyed the restaurant, before reviewing I did reach out to the property with my concerns but they havenāt bothered to reply!!
- vanessa (8/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Great stay - Great room. Warm and comfortable. Friendly staff. Excellent cooked breakfast at the weekend and very good in - room hamper on other days.
- Bates (5/5): -
- Dass (9/5): -
- Steven (8/5): -
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Anne (8/5): - The location, excellent staff and customer service. Fab views across the moors and tower from dining room. lovely breakfast and voucher for a free drink each in the bar. Rooms nice modern and clean. Coffee machine in room. Unable to open the window in our room, unsure if this applies to all rooms though. It was unseasonably warm at the time though.
- Diana (6/5): Good value, good location. - Room was rather small - had to eat on or in bed. Not sure how I got the bathroom radiator to come on ! Nice, quiet room. Access not easy with bags, up either staircase. Breakfast good choice for continental
- Paul (9/5): - Comfortable room and bed, great , helpful staff, very good breakfast Nothing
- Leean (9/5): Lovely break would stay again - Friendly staff , nice room decor , food really nice too Fan and moisture in bathroom could be improved
- Rwoolste (7/5): Good base for visiting Ramsbottom - Breakfast food and service was very good. Bed was comfortable. Shower was good and hot The breakfast room and our bathroom were very cold
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- sianne (10/5): -
- McLoughlin (10/5): -
- Sally (10/5): - The room and food were beautiful. N/a
- Gillian (10/5): -
- Neve (9/5): -
- Mike (7/5): - The bathroom. The food both in the evening and at breakfast was adequate but not exciting. The presentation and range was poor. The breakfast options were basic with poor quality fruit juices, one bread option, semi warm Lancashire Breakfast which wasn't freshly cooked. The scrambled egg had been cooked in a microwave so wasn't light or fluffy.
- Owen (7/5): A good place to be based if visiting the North West. - The pub is in a useful location, there are several bus routes that run right outside it or very nearby. The nearest major town is Bury. The staff I met were all friendly and helpful, happy to accomodate any requests. The cooked and continental breakfasts were both very good, with high quality ingredients. The room had a good toilet and shower room which appeared newly fitted, there was a small fridge also which was handy for keeping a pint of milk. Our room was a little bit small even for a budget double or twin room, there wasn't space for a couple of decent chairs to sit in as the two beds filled it right up. I'd have said it was fine as a single room.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Christine (8/5): Nice stay - Friendly and helpful staff
Lovely decor
Delicious food at restaurant
Good bar, particularly liked the Eagle lager Uncomfortable bed. Mattress could do with being replaced as could feel the springs
Unable to open windows without standing on chair and window sill
- Madeline (3/5): - Too noisy and very uncomfortable bed
- Andrew (7/5): Nice hotel, comfortable room - Breakfast was provided by pre-packed foods in the room. It was nice enough. Room was comfortable, but hotel is on a main road so a little noisy
- James (10/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): Beautiful visit. Beautiful food. Beautiful vibe. - Rural quaint boutiquey vibe Bed was a little bit hard
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Antonella (10/5): Soggiorno piacevole, - Organizzazione, confort, cordialitĆ
- Andrew Houlihan (10/5): - The place is really nice, warm welcome when we arrived. Good selection of drinks the food is bang on also.
- sheila (10/5): - Excellent place to stay.Very helpful staff, good food & lovely room. Nothing.
- Rachel (8/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Nice hotel, lovely food and staff and short walk out of the main part of Ramsbottom - Nicely decorated room The couple next door having rampant sex all night which we heard all of
- James (10/5): Food exceptional, service first class. -
- Julia (8/5): Comfortable if you can manage stairs. - Helpful staff. Comfy bed and room. Continental breakfast provided in the room. Limited car parking facility. Steps into venue and up to room were a struggle and could have been flagged on booking info
- Amit (9/5): Good comfortable stay - Good stay as always, clean comfortable and value for money Nothing
- James (10/5): Fabulous - Tasteful decor, views, ambience, food Nothing
- Amit (8/5): - Good location, very local to where I needed to be the next day. Check in is easy and the room was comfortable There was a smell coming from the bathroom which means there was an issue with the drains. Usually not the case in this hotel.
- Michael (10/5): Highly recommend - Superb quality breakfast, beautiful location, very friendly and helpful staff
- Paul (9/5): Lovely rooms in a lovely hotel -
- Kelvin (8/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Excellent value for money. - Staff were very helpful when we arrived and offered to help with bags. Room very good size, clean and well furnished. Overnight room was quiet despite being by the main road. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, staff brilliant about my gluten intolerance and my wife being vegan. Parking was pretty difficult but we arrived during the dinner rush so not surprising. Parked on the street and was able to get onto the car park later.
- LizzyH (9/5): -
- Garry (7/5): Nice location, friendly staff nice hotel, just a shame no hot breakfast offered - Ideal location and friendly staff. We have stayed before a couple of years ago. We enjoyed the Full English Breakfast and that is one of the reasons we chose this hotel. Unfortunately when we were shown to our room we were told it was a continental breakfast and it was in our room. The croissants weren/t good having been sat in our room from the morning before and its not what we like to have when staying in a hotel.
- Schmidt (8/5): -
- Beth (8/5): Friendly, welcoming place with great staff and cooked veggie breakfast. - The room was fine, good shower. The breakfast was great as were the staff we met.
- Chris (9/5): - .
- MARK (8/5): Friendly pub serving good food perfect stopover - Good food ambience smart easy room
- Lisa (7/5): Nice stay but over priced given the of the condition of the room that was very tired & cold - Quirky room with character & views towards Ramsbottom Room very tired. Carpet worn & very could do with replacing ( & better fitting..) French doors let in draft not ideal when the wind is howling through. Stair carpet leading up to rooms was also worn
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely - Close to the office Tiny carpark on a hill
- Polly (10/5): -
- david (8/5): - Big room, nice staff, great food. Breakfast room was freezing
- Jane (9/5): -
- Gabriella (8/5): - Comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with good shower. Loved the elegant decor. Convenient location. Visible, unsightly signs of damp in the bedroom. I have asthma so was a bit concerned when I saw it but we were rushing to get to a wedding. Our room was next to the entrance door so we heard every other guest enter and leave. (Not ideal on NYE š©). Not a lot can be done about that but maybe ask for a room away from entrance when booking. Mon-Fri continental breakfast basket is in your room. Maybe I missed this when booking but we were really disappointed not to have a cooked breakfast in a pub with such a good reputation for food. Especially for the price we paid on NYE. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
- John (7/5): A good stay, thank you - Good check in Continental breakfast only.
- Paul (7/5): - Clean, well appointed, nice decor, helpful staff. The heating in the room didn't work, at all, and it was -2 outside. The breakfast was disappointing - 1 croissant left overnight in the room which was stale by morning, plus no butter.
- Sean (2/5): I was woken up at 7:35 am Christmas Eve by draymen & people moving furniture- no I wasnāt - This form is not taking much text - I was woken up Christmas Eve at 7:35am by draymen & people moving furniture- no I WAS not dreaming. The curtains were filthy and stank - the ācontinentalā breakfast was horrid- overall my stay at the E&C was a nightmare I have tried to send a more comprehensive review - but keeps coming back undelivered
In summary - a terrible experience alert from the nice staff - I was freezing cold - the heating was hardly put on - radiator not working in the bathroom-
- Mandy (9/5): Great pub stay would come again - Loved the room and the little touches like free drink token for the bar It was a little cold when we woke up in the morning. The continental break was satisfactory but pastry was provided night before so not really fresh.
- Lee (8/5): Ideal. - Great shower, lovely breakfast, room was small but I think we had the smallest one as it was only one left when we booked. Lovely and warm on what was a very chilly night outside. The voucher for 2 free drinks in the downstairs bar was a nice touch. Nothing.
- ian (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Karen (5/5): - Breakfast and location Duvet was bigger than the duvet cover so all lumpy. Floor was uneven. Flaking paint.
- LINDA Ann (9/5): Lovely comfy break away - Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable and fab cooked Lancashire breakfast
- julie (10/5): - Lovely room. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
- Jonathan (8/5): Nice venue, good breakfast - overall nice stay. Have been a few times before and would visit again. - The venue was accommodating as we arrived early as agreed and our bags were delivered to the room once it was prepared. The room was nice and clean, comfortable bed. Nice to have a coffee machine in the room. The fan in the bathroom wasn't working so after showering and opening the bathroom door into the main room, it became humid and sticky. Unfortunately there was no shelf in the shower to place our toiletries (I think there was one there previously as there were screws in the wall)
- Jackson (8/5): -
- David (8/5): Great room and breakfast - Nice staff and bar. Mattress needs replacing. Springs had gone
- Lindsey (6/5): -
- Ben (9/5): - Nice accomodation for 1 night and very nice people at the hotel.
- David (10/5): -
- Lisa (5/5): Average - Comfy Bed Mould in the bathroom. No heating turned on in the room in November. Humming fan noise coming from a different room in the night.
- Carl (10/5): -
- Bernice (7/5): Comfortable, but the welcome didnāt feel genuinely warm - Clean, modern and comfortable Slate floor in the bathroom was very cold. No hand held shower, to avoid getting my hair wet. The bedside lights were too bright and only one switch at side of bed. We didnāt realise there was no hot breakfast mid-week. Will read small print next time!
- charles (10/5): -
- Ms L (8/5): Good location and friendly staff made for a wonderful weekend. - Good choice and food was well presented and delicious. The buffet element was adequate but not extensive and a little more choice would have been appreciated. The room was comfortable with a wonderful view and a lovely big bathroom.
- Alan (10/5): Midweek break - Quiet rooms, good food, friendly staff Very small car park, with limited space, and small overflow over the road. Can't imagine what its like in the winter, right on top of the hill
- Chilton (10/5): -
