• Andre (8/5): Fin beliggenhet 😊 - Hostellet har en fin beliggenhet til strand og shopping. Noe støy fra gaten/ torvet hvor det er mye mennesker til langt på kveld/natt. Dobbelt rommet vi fik var lite og noe slitt og bar preg av at dette er et hostell. Frokosten var den samme, med lite utvalg hele den uken vi var de. Men beliggenhet og pris i forhold til nærliggende hotell, så var det greit nok.

• Malourdes (10/5): - I like Hostal Marissal and have been booking this place for the past 2 years, as staff are kind and helpful, checking in is easy, place is clean, always accessible with the elevator. In the middle of balcon de europa, so everything is convenient.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Check-in online disaster - On line check in a disaster and many guests hah difficulty and gave up. There should be a person present to allow people of all ages to check in outside the two hours from 2pm to 4 pm. The on-line app was over complicated and not fit for purpose. It will. stop people from booking the hostel again
• Michelle (8/5): - Great location for sight seeing, can be a little noisy in the mornings. Rooms basic but nice and clean. Time of year no receptionist so checking in a little frustrating. Buffet breakfast adequate if you get up before it runs out. Most staff very nice and helpful

• Kevin (4/5): - Great location, nice enough room, but no front desk open for check in means it wasn't possible to get into the building without a cellphone with a SIM card for Spain. Also, a foul sewage stench from plumbing in the bathroom, and no front desk to request help from that problem.

Just a few minor things- no bin in the room (only a tiny one in the bathroom), nothing to hang towels on in the bathroom, a few hooks on the back of the door would help! No full length mirror which is annoying when you’re on holiday and want to see your outfits!

• Ilya (6/5): - The location is great, with a nice street and sea view, although it is quite noisy. Jack hammer was working across the street most of the day. The room would be OK if not for a terrible stench coming from the sewer in the bathroom, so you have to keep the door to the bathroom shut and the balcony door open not to feel it. The furniture is shabby, the included breakfast is very primitive. This was the worst of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our Spanish vacation this year.

• Colin (4/5): - The hotel is well located and reasonably priced. It offers rooms with balcony or patio but our balcony and others look out over other internally facing balconies. We had a safe but no fridge or drinks facilities. The promised discount for guests having dinner was not applied, the meal was average quality but expensive and breakfast was uninspiring and self service. This was a disappointing holiday venue rescued only by it’s location.

• Stephan (6/5): - The hotel is of course in a great location, but in my experience the rooms are a bit outdated and not 100 percent clean. A nice smelling toilet block would improve things a lot. The breakfast buffet is only adequate and I did not find the service staff very friendly or attentive. I would only recommend the hotel if you want to save a few euros.
• Sheila Christine (10/5): - This hotel was in the most beautiful location in the main square in Nerja. Our room had the most amazing view across the square to the sea . The room was very tired and needed some updating.
• Susan (8/5): Excellent value for location. - Absolutely fantastic location! The room was basic but very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable, with nice bed linen. The bathroom, however was grubby, there were also light bulbs that didn’t work. Credit to them though, they did fix the light and improve the bathroom cleanliness when we addressed the issue with them. Breakfast was basic, but fresh and plentiful. We would definitely stay there again. People need to be mindful that this property is classed as a hostel…not a luxury hotel. As such embrace the superb location and good value for money accommodation.

If you like an early night, you’d probably want to take ear plugs. Lots of choice of cafe, restaurants and bars nearby. We loved it

• Verified traveler (4/5): Overnight stay - Room was smelling like someone had been smoking quite heavily although all rooms are non smoking and this should have been picked up before letting it to other guests. Sign on all the windows say happy hour is applicable every day but when we asked we were told not on Sundays.

Wonderful location on the Balcon de Europa with one beach very close by for swimming. Excellent location also for eateries.... again friendly service, used to visitors. I requested an extra pillow and kettle... Voila! No sooner requested than appeared. I really do recommend this value for money hotel.

• Michelle (8/5): - Excellent location , waking distance from lovely beaches and ample restaurants and bars. Staff were extremely helpful with arranging transfers and offering directions. Breakfast was average and it was a case of if your'e not down early everything is gone, however the waiters do try and accommodate your needs were possible. Rooms were clean and changed daily if requested.
• Michael (8/5): - This Hotel is between the Church and the Balcon. While the hotel is basic it is such ideally situated that you are right on top of all the amenities such as bars,restaurants and shops. The balcony opened up on the square so we were able to watch the religious processions and weddings. The Hotel is very clean and the shower was good. Breakfast was basic and adequate if a little limited in choice. All in all a nice lttle Hotel.

• ALAN (6/5): - The location was excellent , right in the heart of balcon d'europe , busy and lively, the room was average but adequate , dissappointed that the room did not have at least a small fridge, some staff were pleasant and friendly , a couple were rude and ignorant, the coffee machine at breakfast was broken for a couple of days leaving staff to make the coffees behind the bar , the young lady when asked tutted and shook her head , she clearly did not want to make the coffees, when i asked for a second cup of coffee she angrily said " NO" i was astounded !!
• Lance (8/5): - It does not get more central in Nerja than this hotel - the location is great; on the Balcon d'europa and by a central public beach. The sound insulation was still good considering the central location in the middle of the town's hub.The rooms were comfortable. I personally found the bathrooms neglected and dirty - there was plenty of mildew which was disappointing. I also did not like the entrance of the hotel as it felt more like entering a messy bar / restaurant rather than a hotel lobby.

• Richard (8/5): - Liked our stay so we decided to extend the visit. This was a bit difficult to do without regular staff at the hotel and only intetnet booking. Got it figured out with an acquaintance who lives in Spain who was able to call the hostal to confirm the extension. Had to pay a bit extra to stay in the same room (due to internet bookiking issues). Super location. Hope to retun for another visit.

• colin (2/5): Worst Service ever!! - I was booked to pay at the hotel. You took money before I arrived and I suffered a fee from my UK bank. No one was there to check us in. It was chaos. We were not told that the hotel was not open on 1st & 2nd January. Therefore we could not pay the balance, and you tried to use the same charge again!! We got help from Tobos Apart reception opposite but the service from your administration was the worst I have ever found. I would never stay with you again and will tell all my friends that on social media. Your failures cost me extra money. We were in a party of 24 who come to Nerja regularly and they were shocked by your poor service.

• Barbara (8/5): Best position in Nerja - We were given room 211 at first and it was small and very dated they changed us to room 210 which was much better. The position of the Marissal is best in Nerja, the bar and cafe are good. We found that the bed and pillows very comfortable. The walk in shower was great, we had no view at all but this didn't bother us. Our son and partner had room 207 with a view onto the square and really enjoyed their stay.

• Kerry (8/5): Brilliant stay, fantastic location. - Good communication from start to finish, really perfect location ask for a room overlooking the square or the balcon as there are a few that look down an internal well, so no views. There are some UK channels too. You get 10% off the bar and food costs at the Hostal which is an advantage. Breakfast was worth it too, lots of choice and always topped up. You can go to breakfast up until 11.30 and it's in an area away from the general public which is nice when you have had a late one. Two beaches either side of you too which take no longer than two mins walk down a slope.
