Guest Reviews
- Roseanne (10/5): - Cosy recently refurbished room. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent breakfadt
- L (10/5): - Lovely room, great staff, nice breakfast
- Michael (10/5): - Really lovely stay. Good breakfast choices.
- Mary (6/5): - Room was clean modern comfortable. I had family room which was ok after 10.30 at night due to its location. It was very noisy from been located above the bar, you could hear everything not really suitable if i had brought my youngest 2 children. Parking is limited in evenings.
- Alexander (6/5): Areas for improvement - Nice greeting when I arrived and shown to my room which was brightly decorated with a nice comfortable bed. Bathroom was quite small and cramped but functional.
The quality of housekeeping both in the public areas and also my room was pretty dreadful and definitely could do with improvement. An irritation, the red on/off button on the tv remote didn't work (fortunately I've had experience in other hotels!). These should be checked as part of the Housekeeper's duties.
Dinner was very average and service was rushed. Breakfast was better than average.
Would I stay there again : not sure.
- Stephen (10/5): Our stay at the Wynnstay - Everything was great, staff, room, bar, evening meal and breakfast.
- Tracy (10/5): - We enjoyed staying here. There were meal options and it was easy to take public transportation to get into the heart of London. The breakfast staff was amazing! Very welcoming and helpful.
- Ann (10/5): Great stay - Comfortable, clean hotel. Staff all very friendly
- Stephen (8/5): WiFi issues. - Everything was great here, except the WiFi which I could not login to even though there was a strong signal.
- teresa (10/5): - Staff were really welcoming and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing both breakfast and evening meal. Room was great bed comfy. Good decor throughout
- Clive (10/5): Winnstay Inn short stay - The inn is easy to locate with ample parking. The staff are very warm and friendly. They explain everything on offer and whats available.we were shown to our room ,the 4 post bed room, which was very well ,spacious, large bathroom, both .very clean.
Food on offer was great with good varied menu and good portions.
All the staff make the Winnstay a great experience and i highly recommend this accomodation .
- Karen (10/5): - Warm welcome on arrival. Beautiful old building tastefully refurbished. Clean and very comfortable room. Lovely bar and restaurant downstairs. All staff very friendly.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Charming historic inn located a few miles from Wrexham. Accommodations and staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
- Richard (10/5): - Room was excellent, very friendly people
- Greg (8/5): - Room was beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Great location for the area. Loud, verbal fighting in courtyard outside of room after bar closed was unpleasant but fairly short lived.
- Michael S (10/5): - This is the most quaint place I’ve ever stayed. After talking to the owner, this used to be an old courthouse. many years ago. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for old world charm, and to find a piece of history in the Wrexham area. The people the service and the food are top-notch. Highly recommend.
- Chris (10/5): - Nice place, nice room & breakfast, good garden good access to wider area. Enjoyed stay
- Randy (10/5): - Large beautiful room. We loved our stay!
- Sarah l (8/5): - Good chioce of breakfast.
- Sean (10/5): Really nice hotel - Had a quick and easy check in. Room was very clean. Massive, really comfy bed. Nice and quiet. Will stay again next time I'm down that way.
- Carolyn (10/5): - The wholenplace was beautifully serviced. Meals the room and staff fantastic.
- Stuart (10/5): - We booked for a one night stay, as we were attending our Aunts 80th Birthday party and had to travel a distance. Our evening meal was acceptable as traditional pub grub and the service/staff were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was FAB, we had a full English and couldn't fault. Our room was in the main building and an 'old' room as we had to duck down when entering BUT there was a sign to watch your head AND the room was excellent, very clean and all the makings for tea/coffee and biscuits. All round, a good experience.
- Alan (10/5): Nice hotel. - Lovely inn/hotel. Room was very spacious. Food excellent and a good selection of ales.
- Tricia (10/5): Lovely welcome - The staff make this hotel. Very friendly and they work so hard.
- Micah (10/5): - Such a cute stay and nice people. We had a lovely tine
- james (10/5): - Great
- James (8/5): - This property had the potential to be excellent but minor detail such as shower floor not closing properly and shower rail and loo roll holder loose. Ordered Lamb steak but had to send back as inedible, lady in restaurant was very good and I went for the Steak & Ale Pue instead, which was excellent. Bar staff not very attentive, two lots of customers in restaurant took glasses back to bar on way out and offered their thanks but weren’t acknowledged. On the positive side good location, choice of ales and comfy bed.
- John (8/5): Disappointing stay - Stayed in room 4, very noisy due to main road outside window, church bell chimes every 15 mins and street light directly outside window. Room window has broken pain of glass that has been broken a while due to the dirt on windows. NO WI-FI in hotel, which hotel advertises is available but it is not, staff not prepared to help with this issue. Room spacious, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast takes 20 mins to arrive at table after order taken but was hot tasty and generous with the amount of food on the plate. Hotel described as exceptional on Hotels.com, definitely not.
- Endres (10/5): - Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Coziness of the room and pub nicely modernized.
- Isabella (10/5): A great hotel - Fabulous room and great value for money. Also food is good.
- Adrian (10/5): Pretty Inn in Ruabon with meals and a bar. - An old-style but renovated pub in Ruabon with meals and a bar. Our room had a 4-poster bed and was very comfortable. Meals were of solid quality.
- Carly (10/5): 5* Hotel - My family and I very recently spent a delightful night at this hotel during a get away and I must say, it exceeded our expectations.
The hotel rooms have stunning, chic decor, with a stylish navy theme that is both modern and inviting.
Our room was not only spacious but also incredibly comfortable, with plush beds and pillows that ensured a restful night's sleep. The dining experience was equally impressive, with delicious food, I would recommend the salt and chilli chicken.
An added treat, was a local male choir who sang some wonderful songs whilst we ate our evening meal.
I highly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to return on our next visit to North Wales!
- Peter (10/5): - Great place to stay with a good selection of food on offer at the bar/restaurant
- Mark (8/5): Nice place to stay! - Really nice hotel. My room faced the church so the chimes took some getting used to as the old sash windows didn't really keep the sound out. The food was very good and the people who worked there were also very helpful. Service int h restaurant was good end even got me in as a resident when there was a big celebration on. Would visit again!
- Carole (10/5): A pleasant stay. - We stayed just one night.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Food was good and plentiful, although slow as the hotel had large parties to cater for that day.
Room was extremely comfortable and clean.
Biscuits and a flask of fresh milk were a nice touch.
Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
- Claire (10/5): Hotel review - Such friendly team and very helpful, fantastic breakfast and lovely room and location
- Stuart (10/5): Weekend stay - Great Central location for day trips into Wales. Great little pub
The food was brilliant steak and ale pie was fantastic and a nice pint.
If you are looking for a place to stay, this is it.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great stay at this gastro-pub with rooms. Room was modern, quiet, comfortable and clean. Had lunch and breakfast at the pub and both were GREAT.
Staff were really helpful and pleasant, Paula in particular.
Free parking and bus stops to Wrexham and Llangollen 50yds from hotel so very convenient for either.
One note of caution if you pack heavily - I don’t think there’s an elevator.
All in all a terrific stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
- michael (6/5): - The property was nicely refurbished. The staff were friendly, more so the staff that greeted us on arrival.
The windows were so old that even when they were closed, you could hear everything outside like the window was fully open. The breakfast selection was fairly limited and the stock was low (probably due to it being a Monday)
- Colin R (10/5): Great Stay - Really pleasant overnight stay. Clean, efficient and enjoyable
- Dave (10/5): - Pontcysyllte aqueduct is well worth checking out, lovely walk along the canal.
- Richard (10/5): Lovely Coaching Inn - The Wynnstay arms is a very clean inn with great rooms and a large car park.
Good selection of food is available.
The staff are friendly and polite and I would definitely recommend for a short break !!
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely pre-graduation ceremony stay - We stayed the night fire my husband’s graduation. I picked this hotel as the pictures were stunning and it did not disappoint! The room was large and beautifully decorated, the bed was huge and comfortable. We were in the very top of the hotel in room 12 with the low door to enter and we loved it. We also had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and couldn’t fault it. We were up and out early the next day but had time for a quick cooked breakfast to set us up for the day.
A great place would definitely book again, thank you so much for a relaxing but brief stay!
- Robert (10/5): - Good
- Andrea (10/5): - We recently spent three nights at Wynnstay Arms and were extremely pleased with the experience.
Everyone we met in were helpful, friendly and very professional in their role and we would highly recommend the venue.
We look forward to visiting again in the future.
- Justin (10/5): - Lovely comfortable rooms with lovely big beds we stayed in room 5 which is absolutely massive with a nice very clean bathroom. Nice warm welcome and really friendly staff with great service. Overall highly recommend staying here as ideally placed to visit the nearby aqueduct plus Snowdonia is just over an hour away.
- Christopher (10/5): - Very modern interior, in a very historic building. Very friendly, great food and comfortable room
- Nia (8/5): - Lovely spacious family room with teenagers.. We had a very nice meal in the bar and breakfast was lovely - pleanty of choice. Staff were very accomodating. A very plaesant stay.
- Mark (10/5): - The staff were fruendly and professional
- Annmarie (10/5): - Lovely property and welcoming staff. Spacious clean room and bathroom (love the towel warmer!) Great breakfast on site, lots to choose from. We will definitely stay again when visiting Wales.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Hotel was nice enough, honestly a nice little spot. They had a large group and didn't seem prepared for it. Kept blaming the large group however it was clearly booked in advance and Hotel didn't seem prepared.
Never blame other guests for your shortcomings. Own it and do your best.
- Karen (8/5): Wedding stay - The room was compact, but well thought out and clean. Comfy bed and good bathroom and shower. Sadly sink did not have mixer tap and hot water got really hot very quickly. Hand towel rail by the sink would be good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good with a good choice.
- Tiffany (10/5): - The property was beautifully decorated, so much character! It’s much larger than you expect. The breakfast was lovely and beds very comfortable.
- Nicholas (8/5): Wynnstay Arms - A perfectly adequate hotel, comfortable bed, good choice of food for breakfast, conveniently situated and with a car park at the back. Friendly staff as well. Would book again.
- Gary (10/5): - Lovely room few small repairs needed but didn’t spoil a great stay. Staff super helpful and friendly.
- Mark (10/5): Business stay - Absolutely fantastic. Not an issue with anything from check in to check out. If you need a hotel in this area, stop looking after this one.
- Mariusz (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Beautiful and cozy hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast and friendly stuff. Highly recommended.
- Jonathan (2/5): Dust and spiders - Unclean room with spiders in some of the corners. The teaspoons were unclean and clearly previously used by previous guests - so the cleaner hadn't changed the spoons. There was dust literally everywhere. We also called up days before and requested late check-out, I was told that a note would be made of it, and then I mentioned late check-out when we checked in, but by the time we checked out we were told there was no mention of the late check-out on our account. The food was good and tasty and the staff were friendly, just a shame about the room.
- Robyn (10/5): - Staff was great, room was nice and comfortable.
- Pat (10/5): - Beautiful Presidential Suite with 4 poster bed, towelling robes and slippers
Immaculately clean. All staff very cheerful and helpful
Would highly recommend
- Steve (10/5): - Absolutely loved the character of the hotel along with the professional friendly attitude of all staff.
- Andrew (10/5): Really lovely friendly hotel - Fantastic stay great staff lovely food and comfortable room
- Andy (10/5): Really good hotel - Stayed for a friends wedding so just the one night however the room was beautiful, spacious and bathroom was perfect. Shame we weren’t staying for longer. Check in was simple, fast and even let us check in early which was good of them.
The breakfast included was lovely. Literally nothing but compliments for this hotel and would 100% recommend / stay again.
- M (8/5): Great stopping point for Holyhead. - Comfortable and spacious room in comfortable, well run small hotel above pub. Very good location en route to Holyhead for ferry to Ireland. Good, hearty food and nice beer. Very pleasant staff.
- Andy (10/5): Wonderful stay - They looked after us really well. Lovely room, first class cask beer, superb food & friendly & helpful service.
- Lisa (10/5): - They were quick to accommodate us when we had unexpected car trouble. Everyone was kind and went above and beyond to make this unpleasant situation a pleasant one!
- Malcolm (6/5): Not that great - Staff could have been more welcoming. Food not of high enough standard. Two meals on first night were poor and we refused to pay for them they were taken off the bill. The bedroom shower was poor the flow rate was very poor . no coat hooks in the bedroom. All these points were discussed with the Manager and reported back to higher management
- John (10/5): - This it’sa first-class property. The Presidential Suite far e exceeded our expectations. The service was exceptional.
- Victoria (10/5): Superb stay - Beautiful hotel. Superb breakfast. Lovely friendly staff. Will define returning!!!
- Marie (8/5): - Lovely place, and service. Food was lush dinner and breakfast too.
Bathroom could have been cleaner than it was.
over all I will definitely stay again
- Karrilea (10/5): Excellent - Warm welcome, lovely staff lovely room and lovely breakfast
- Simon (10/5): Wynnstay Arms Ruabon - Nice place to stay with friendly atmosphere and good food.
- Shane (10/5): - We had an amazing stay here, it is a pity it was only for one night. Clean hotel, great food and drink and friendly staff
- Karen (10/5): - Hotel was perfect, very clean, friendly and very helpful staff. Great location as we wete visiting family who live in Ruabon. Will definitely stay again
- Raymond (8/5): - Single night stay for family event. Suitably fulfilled the requirement, with good room, excellent breakfast, and friendly staff.
- FREDERIC (10/5): - There was nothing I disliked; it is a lovely inn, very well upgraded to 21st century expectations of comfort, I slept like a baby.
I had a lovely, if potentially very fattening, dinner (but that is down to my own selection from the menu)
Brilliant staff and service
- Joanne (10/5): Great stay . - We used this hotel due to attending a family wedding nearby . The staff couldn’t have been more helpful in accommodating our needs as we were also travelling with my elderly mother . I had emailed them prior to our visit and they took all our requests on board- Great location excellent service x
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall good, exc staff /Cust relationship.
- Linda (8/5): - Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Family room spacious and clean. King size bed and bunk beds. Tea/coffee/water facilities. Great bathroom. Two negatives, if you have very young children with you the family room is above a very noisy bar and noisy until gone 11pm! The full cooked breakfast was disappointing too.
- FREDERIC (10/5): - an old coaching inn, beautifully upgraded into a boutique hotel, lovely decor, splendid bathroom.
Wonderful welcome and service from the staff. even though I'd arrived just after the kitchen closed, they went to the trouble of rustling up a snack for me. Service with a capital S!lovely garden at the back, with outside seating (unfortunately it was raining stair-rods during my stay. Highly recommended, and will go back to enjoy the sights and the walks around
- Amanda (10/5): Lovely staff - Staff were amazing.
Room was very nice. It was a bit warm but a fan was provided.
- Shaun (10/5): Business stay - As always, a nice room, staff very helpful and the food is excellent. The breakfast is some of the best , cooked to order
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent place to stay, staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble!
- Jo (8/5): One night stay - Lovely room, very comfortable and clean. Good value with a very tasty breakfast included.
- Toni (10/5): - I absolutely loved this hotel it is beautiful and the staff are excellent...very friendly and helpful the food was very well presented and delicious...just one little niggle and that was cobwebs and dust in a few places...although we will definitely go and stay again 😊
- Gwyn (10/5): - This was a last minute stay whist working in the area. Very easy to find and parking was great.
The manager was very friendly and helpful as were the staff. My room was a deluxe room which was huge.
Food was also very good. I had the crispy chilly beef on noodles and it was fantastic.
- Kristina (10/5): - The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. We arrived late and they held the kitchen open so we could have dinner in their restaurant. It was delicious! We weren’t rushed and felt very welcome. The room was lovely.
- Shaun (10/5): Business Trip - Friendly helpful staff, food was very good. Room was comfortable with lots of tea and coffee. Good place to stay
- David (8/5): Did not quite meet exepcations for the price - I liked the hotel and I liked the room, however for the price I would have expected a bigger bathroom - the shower really was quite small.
I also found that the king size bed was two single beds pushed together with an uncomfortable join down the middle, and for the price I paid I felt the bed could have been better in that respect.
The other thing that was surprising given the price was the limited hours for breakfast, the website did not give the breakfast hours, but they did not start until 0800 which was too late for me - in this price bracket I would have expected to be able to get breakfast from 0700.
So overall a really nice hotel, but the price brings greater expectations and there were several areas that did not meet those expectations.
- Terry (10/5): - Great value for money
- Paul (10/5): Would highly recommend - Lovely hotel in great location for visiting the surrounding areas. The room was decorated to match the buildings period styling and was done to a high standard. The bathroom was really nice with bath, shower and his and hers basins. Four poster bed finished off the room. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the food was really good. Excellent value for money, will definitely stay there again and use it as a base for touring the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A nice place to stay - A very enjoyable stay. Very friendly staff. Comfortable too. Very nice food.
- I (10/5): Great room - good spot - Very nice room - good pub grub.
- Tricia (10/5): Great stay - Lovely decor and staff are very friendly. Great atmosphere
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely stay - Amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Disappointed with our stay... - If you're booking to travel with children, this is NOT for you. The family room we stayed in is directly above the main bar area. We could hear the conversations downstairs and it us difficult for children to fall asleep when it quiets down only after 11pm. There're rooms further away from the central part of the building but they are standard rooms. Putting family rooms right above the bar is bad design right from the start.
The first evening we had dinner in the restaurant but many dishes were unavailable.
The shower in the room broke and water splashed out at the tap whilst the shower was turned on. Told front desk and it was fixed whilst we were out in the day. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Shame its not all what we had hoped for.
- Lorraine (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff, very nice place to stay
- Virendra (8/5): - A pleasant stay staff are very friendly.
- Gordon (8/5): - Very friendly relaxed atmosphere in this comfortable managed hotel of Robinson Group
Parking & access very easy - in good location at A5-A483 junction in Ruabon
- William (8/5): excellent - the accomodation at the Wynnstay Arms is lovely. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend a stay here for anyone contemplating a visit to the area.
