Superior Double Room
We now have 2 spacious superior rooms both with large beds and private bathrooms with bath and hand showers for the ladies. These rooms are ideal for a special one night stay or if you prefer to stay for a few nights as they have the benefit of a large floor space for you to relax in. Dressing gowns and fresh towels are supplied and the option of daily room service is available if requested. Complimentary toiletries from our friends at the local Bath House store are supplied, Fresh tea and coffee & hot chocolate provided in rooms along with Marlish mineral water.

- Roel (9/5): Fijn verblijf met vriendelijk personeel op goede locatie - Goede locatie tov het dorpje en L’enclume. 2 minuten lopen van parkeerterrein voor de auto. We mochten eerder inchecken en bij uitchecken hebben ze nog in record tijd een full English breakfast voor ons gemaakt. Erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel! Het is een oud karakter pand, dus iets gehoriger

- Ian (9/5): - Right in the heart of Cartmel we had and evening meal on the Saturday one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time and reasonably priced,staff are lovely we had the balcony room overlooking the beer garden with lovely views nice to sit out with a coffee in the morning If I have a negative it would be the mattress was probably past its sell by date and could do with renewing however the bed linen was quality and the room was spotless

The staff were great, excellent service starting with booking a table on the Sunday evening…they juggled a few plates to fit us in. Very little. Hasn’t checked the small print so didn’t realise we’d get a bath instead of a shower but that was hardly an issue

- Anne (7/5): Nice hotel in great location. Mixed experiences with service in restaurant. - Comfortable hotel in perfect location. The pub with rooms above has a lot of character. We had a beautiful, spacious room. However the bathroom had a bath with a hand-held shower attachment. No curtain or shower screen so had to have the shower while in the bath. The room had fresh ground coffee and loose tea with a teapot and cafetiere. Felt a nice touch except there wasn't a table to make it all on, and fresh milk would have been even more welcome. So quite a mixed experience. The staff at the hotel and restaurant changed every day. We were there for 3 nights. Some were excellent, others less so. Some consistent training might be helpful.

Cartmel is a beautiful village to visit and tbe cavendish arms is a good location for visiting the lakes Very silly minor things that we spoke to the owner about as he was keen to rectify any issues. This is the way minor things should be dealt with on the spot
- Charles (10/5): A very warm welcome from the team, you cannot beat the experience - The whole experience was very welcoming- from the moment we arrived we both felt immediately at ease and part of the family. It has been maybe 30 years since I visited the Cavandish and it is just as wonderful now as it was then. Room was light, welcoming, spotless and very comfortable. Food and drink were first class and the staff were fantastic- really can't wait till we go back. everything was prefect, there was nothing to fall out about.

- John (10/5): A great stay in one of the most beautiful villages in The Lakes. - I love The Cavendish. Eaten there a couple of times, popped in for a few beers when local, never stayed there. We had a great time. Lovely and attentive staff, and probably the best “pub grub” I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend more. A beautiful pub in the heart of Cartmel. Nothing. All absolutely A1.

- Andrew (9/5): The most wonderful warm welcome in a beautiful historic inn - The most beautiful historic inn, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, beautifully appointed rooms, and a truly outstanding restaurant. The staff are all brilliant, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The shower was a bit unpredictable. But at the price, in this location, I’m not going to complain.

Room was very clean however the radiator didn’t work too well and the room was a little cold. Very comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom though the shower lacked power! The building is very old so the floors and walls were far from level but this added to the authentic feel. The breakfast was excellent Cold room and poor radiator. Shower wasn’t very powerful.

- Kevin (10/5): Perfectly placed to enjoy Cartmel - We love Cartmel and the Cavendish Arms is perfectly placed to explore the village and the area. The pub and restaurant are cozy and the food was great. Our room had a small balcony which was a nice touch. The room was fairly small, but it was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and made our stay that extra bit special. Great value room. We plan to return next Christmas. Although the food was very good, it did feel a little expensive.

- Mark (7/5): Very nice place to stay and eat if in the area - You had to reserve a table as the restaurant got busy and on trying the food i can see why, the starter (soup) i had was delicious and the main was also fantastic. quality of food is second to none. The room was fairly basic, clean and tidy and quite spacious. Wifi but due to rural location that may out of the owners hands, other than that a slightly better TV in the room. I can't recall anything else really.

- Angela (9/5): Excellent service in everyway - food outstanding! - The location, friendly staff , excellent food and cleanliness At the time of our visit one of the boilers broke so we didn’t have heating for the majority of the stay ( however it wasn’t so cold) the wiener was very apologetic and checked in with us on numerous occasions, he sent a bottle of wine to our table and also offered a free stay at a date of our choice. This was over and beyond our expectations so thank you. Thinks a place we have stayed before and will certainly recommend and stay again - thank you !

Good sleep quality and nice staff. - Staff were helpful by phone regarding my query for a very early check in as needed to change my clothes after train journey. They kindly upgraded my room on arrival. Very good sleep quality, comfortable bed, quiet and able to control temperature of room easily/ open window etc. Good hot towel rail in bathroom and a nice bath. Good tea/coffee making facilities in room. Plenty of fluffy white towels. Ate in bar in the evening which was welcome. Excellent breakfast menu. Lighting in room was a minor niggle. Need a bedside light and possibly a light on dressing table. Bathroom light is on sensor so you are often left in the dark if using bath or loo! This wouldn't put me off recommending and re booking.

There is a good atmosphere in the bar/dining room. Breakfast is good overall. Dinner was very good although the menu could perhaps benefit from a couple of daily specials. The room was clean, warm and had good tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A few minor tweaks and I would give 5 stars. I would definitely stay again. Our bed was very hard, as were the pillows. We both struggled to get comfortable. We had a shower attachment over the bath, which I don't mind, but it was almost impossible to balance hot and cold water. Coffee at breakfast was so weak it barely crawled out of the pot.
