Guest Reviews
- Katy (2/5): - Some kind of stain on the sheets that looked like it could be blood. There were five layers of gates to get in. I was stuck on the street surrounded by a group of homeless people and drunk people but they took like five minutes or more to respond to me buzzing on the gates. Signs about what number to call for security camera footage and how to participiate in meth users studies. There are some safety concerns when it comes to staying in this location.
- Jessica (5/5): Good location, nice amenities, terrible hygiene - Bathroom was filthy, bed was stained Cleanliness was horrible
- Emma (4/5): - Not horrible if you are used to staying at the worst of the Tenderloin. The area is high volume drug trafficing. Very loud with street action during the weekend. It seemed safe inside the room, although the bolt lock did not work. I reserved a room with a private bathroom, but when I got there no such room was available. The employees I encountered did not speak English very well (although they were all very nice). On a three night stay my room key was invalidated twice and I had to work it out with the solo staff member on site each time. I wasn't killed. None of my property was stolen. The bugs in the room and bed were slow and easily squished. I've stayed all over San Fransisco and never paid over $100. This one was $50 a night and the least acceptable of any I have stayed at in this extremely cheap price range.
- Idbin (4/5): I got what I paid for, traveled alone so not too upset with it overall. - The pricing and location of the hotel were the best of the deal. Upon arrival, I was immediately given the card to my room and told to take care of the payment later. That made it easy to carry belongings up without the hassle. Cleanliness was very bad. bed sheets and comforter were very dirty/stained. Walls had stains that could easily been taken care of with a towel wipe-down. Shower was very visibly dirty.
Lastly, not the hotels fault, but there are a lot of homeless people in the one block radius. Definitely not family/kid friendly.
- Kimberly (1/5): Disgusting - Nothing it was disgusting No bathroom in the room
- Gayane (6/5): Private room with bathroom located near Union Squere, Civic Center, subway stations. - Staff was excellent and helpful. The room has a private bathroom. There were a lot of homeless people around our hotel, and we felt very uneasy when entering the hotel or walking around the streets where it was located. It seemed dangerous. It was only a few minutes walk to the main central streets and squares, but we had to walk this way quite carefully to avoid problems with the homeless.
- Hilton (1/5): very disapointing to arrive in a new city and experience the above - We did not stay we left soon after arriving. The Hotel was situated in a terrible part of SF, with drug addicts, street people and drug deals happening in front of the Hotel. We did not stay, but caught an Uber out of the area, and booked in somewhere else.
- Diego (2/5): Shocked - The hotel wasn’t clean whatsoever. I mean the bed had stains, the bathroom had hair and grime all over, and overall nothing seemed to be cleaned prior to checking in. I saw dust and dirt everywhere I turned.
- Frank (8/5): - Good price. Close to public metro and buses.
- Austin (2/5): - Dope spot. Didn't even check in, just kept driving
- Jinguang (10/5): A Simple Review - The experience was economic, but the room was not very clean.
- Ryan (2/5): - I didn’t get to stay here. I got there and the person at the desk said they were fully booked and they didn’t use online platforms to book rooms. I will be requesting a refund when I get home and have the tile to file it
- Lisa (2/5): - This is the worst hotel, you can’t close the door nor the windows, VERY UNSAFE!!! No bathroom in the room and the guy didn’t really understand English. We didn’t/couldn‘t stay!!!!
- Kevin (10/5): Page one - Overall rating of the hotel is good four stars out of five the workers are awesome and they work with you if you don't have the full amount they will let you get it later on in the day, they're very lenient it's just hard to get a room here because of the price there's also no roaches or bugs which is a big plus in my eyes
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jefrin (10/5): Exceptional - Good service The area
- REYMUNDO (2/5): - It was in the worse place in San Francisco. Co showers in the room and bathroom either horrible experience
- Jefrin (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- David (5/5): While being a rough part of town, I had no problems or trouble - It was within walking distance to Bart train While not possible to change the neighborhood, it was almost exactly as I expected. Close to good eating & dive bars
- Cortez (8/5): Very good -
- Bonnie-jo (6/5): - Only1 block off market st so not deep in tenderloin unsafe area(no problems walking day time2 union square but came hm before dark out) checked in early asked for fridge& got microwave and our own bathroom/shower very accommodating:)
- Kristi (1/5): Horrible - Nothing Everything
- Frank (10/5): Nice stay and we had a lovely time in San Francisco. - They let us do an early check in for free. Nice Staff. There are a lot of homeless in the area but they did not bother us. No problems.
- Kamil (8/5): Very good -
- Manon (2/5): - Bruyant, sale (avec souris dans le logement), emplacement not safe. Nous avons été déçues.
- Albert (2/5): - I never checked so to family emergency and I called hotel and they said I would not be charged and I was charged that’s really bogus and I m highly upset especially when I called the hotel and the rep says they are not going to to charge me and they did I am high upset 😡😡😡
- Anonymous (2/5): Very poor - The first room we had was correct thé second one was almost a poor squat , smell of weed in all thé floor, curtains dirty , heater only at night... for 50$ we expected at least klean place to stay ... - Cort (10/5): I shall return - low price and the dedicated owners area is a bit dodgy to the unknowing but that said it is very centrally located in SF
- Huskov (9/5): Superb - very nice gentlemen on reception super helpful and friendly ofcourse location in tenderloin is bit controversial but its still city center
- Anthony (7/5): Good - The price, location. Stayed previously. That I didn't get to stay longer.
- Gonzales (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mob (10/5): Exceptional - staff is cool and the price is okay. no deposit kills it yeee CreepMob
- Ehsan (1/5): Bad -
- Yadanar (1/5): Bad -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Horrible place to stay, even for one night. - The bed was popping up at the foot, so there was no way I could sleep on my side - I had to put my head at the foot and bundle up the bottom half of the one blanket given to me in an attempt to lay flat - the sleep was difficult and very uncomfortable. They gave me two tiny towels which were very light and smelled like Indian food - honestly, I was pretty disgusted. The room was super small and I doubt that two people could fit in there comfortably, let alone sleep together. There was a baby cockroach crawling on the shower wall. This is one of the worst hotels that I have every been to.
- Melinda (1/5): Bad -
- Melodie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Franklin (1/5): Bad -
- Norbert (1/5): A very expensive disgusting atmosphere in the middle of the ghetto… - Nothing. It is in the middle of the ghetto. The room was dirty and smelly… We saw a mouse on the stairs on the 3rd night and we decided to not sleep there once. We asked for compensation but of course they reject it! Nothing. - Fred (2/5): - Bed and towels are dirty with dark stains and lots of hair.
- Jan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Martina (1/5): Don’t go there. “Hotel” is in the middle of Tendolion (San Francisco’s Skid Row). Homeless people and drugs addicts are - nothing everything
- Gerhald (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cort (8/5): 2nd visit in a very funky yet central location, a no frills room. - Peter and his wife whom run the basic but tidy place. Noisy guests, which is par for the course given the price/area. Night guy is grump, it is what it is…
- Cort (8/5): Very good -
- Elisa (4/5): - Can not recommend
- Stark (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jessica (1/5): Bad -
- Frank (8/5): - It was okay. You get what you pay for.
- Bradley J. (2/5): Robbed equals not a damn thing..Are you serious? - I was gone one night and I returned to my room and when opening the door I noticed immediately that it was destroyed.things everywhere..things that were not mine.someone had kicked the window off it's hinges from the room next to mine and crawled in through it and stole all my belongings.they must have had a dog in there also because there was dog food all over the place and a bag of dog food, woman's under garments small kids clothing and other weird things. When I bring it to the attention of the owners they blamed my guest I had the night before and did nothing.
- Eric (2/5): - THE STAFF STOLE FROM ME! I stupidly left my microphone and electric razor in my room one day and came back to find my room had been cleaned and my items were missing. I couldn’t believe it! The hotel is in the roughest neighborhood in town, holes in the walls, needles on the floor, cockroaches, etc which I knew when I checked in, but wow never thought I’d get robbed by the staff! Page Hotel has the reputation they do for a reason- I would pay the extra money to stay elsewhere just for the peace of mind. Rams is a good option that’s close by and just a little more expensive. Their staff will not steal from you!!
- Dominick (2/5): SLUM - NEVER STAYED NEVER GOT OUT OF THE CAR . THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL WAS SURROUNDED BY HOMELESS AND WAS NOT SAFE AT ALL. THE WHOLE AREA WAS A SLUM. DANGEROUS. I DID NOT STAY HERE AND NEVER WILL. I CANCELLED ON THE PHONE THAT NIGHT.
- Kevin (10/5): Yee - Great stay had a great time service was awesome and i have no complaints at this time.thanks!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel is dirty, no customer service. I make the reservation and they didn’t save the room.
- Glen (6/5): Low Cost - Simple. Tight security.
- Damon (10/5): It Is the TL but .. - For the price this place is great and no-hassel front desk but great customer service when needed.
- Vicente (10/5): Great - It was a good place considering the price will definitely be staying again
- Damon (10/5): Private and safe - Very accomodating and since I'm a day sleeper and work nights I appreciate the quiet atmosphere. Front desk is friendly and not all in your business.
- KJ (2/5): - The hotel is ran totally down, so for the price I wasn’t expecting a 5 star hotel. When I arrived to the hotel with my 11 year old sister there were people doing drugs, homeless, and hanging in the stairs to get to the front desk. The front of the hotel also smelled of urine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked that it was a secure building that can only be accessed with a key card. I didn’t like that it was in an unpleasant area where a lot of homeless people hang out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For $40/night, you shouldn’t complain unless you get assaulted. This place was surprisingly clean for a walk up hostel in a very sketchy neighborhood. Convenient to Union Square, yes, but this is not for women and children. Stay here if you’re really cheap or literally can’t afford better.
- David C (8/5): Inner city living! - its a rough area!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Only stay if u are desperate. - The service wasn’t that great. Called to ask if the front desk was 24 hours before I checked in because I was running late. The guy I spoke to was sketched out because he asked me why I was asking that. What do u mean why? The room was dirty. I saw roaches. Bathroom dirty. Dirty blankets. I actually only stayed there one nights when I reserved for two. It was just to dirty.
- Moss (8/5): - It was ok. But the roads around it is noisy. Super high security within though.
- Anonymous (2/5): - This is the worst hotel I’ve ever seen and I would never recommend it to anyone. It is in a terrible part of town. There’s no bathrooms in the rooms. And there were crackheads right outside the door of the hotel during the lines of drugs.
- Steven (4/5): - Scary dangerous area full of criminals and horrific odor and filth. Neighbors banging on walls all night and making noise. Homeless outside make noise all night. No heater. Not for the faint of heart.
- Christinamae (10/5): - Cheap and easy access to everything I needed! Never been to San Francisco and was nervous but overall bro satisfied and will be back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I stayed for one night and they keep charging my card more everyday for several days. No one will answer when you call. Rooms were terrible. My bed was two mattresses stacked on top of each other
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Awful experience. So bad that I didn’t end up staying there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Pictures were misleading. The hotel area was trash.
- Pagehotel (2/5): - This is a very bad area and hotel so dirty and old.... Bath, restrooms have to share plus no parking lots
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's good if you don't expect much. A great advantage is the nearness to the city. The restrooms and bath are to be shared with others who sometimes do not leave the rooms clean. The staff is helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They tried their best to keep you safe and it is pretty clean inside but omg you don’t want to go outside. I never ever seen that. Smells of people urine, all day long camping and partying place for homeless and whatever.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pros: Clean restrooms that have good ventilation and are generally unoccupied. Room had all the necessary fixtures like sink, TV, etc.
Cons: Location has many homeless people, so it gets loud at night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Had public bathroom no ac, no parking it was expensive to find car garage
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A lot of homeless near page hotel. Smell wasn’t good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - street people
- Melanie (6/5): Not too awful - Okay so the area is pretty terrifying, I would recommend you take Uber’s and taxis at night! However it’s not the hotel fault on the area, it was clean enough, the staff were pretty good I asked for a fan, I got one, extra soap got that and they looked after my luggage fine, some staff nicer then others, said hello to some of staff and just got obviously ignored. But overall it’s in a scary place but walk a few blocks and your in the good bit again! Just have your wits about you on the area!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Convenient for downtown venues - The check-in counter is on level 2 & you need to buzz to get through the security entrance (which is always promptly activated). There is no elevator so guests with heavy luggage beware. I had my hotels.com confirmation print-out which facilitated confirming the room rates and quick settlement of the upfront payment.
The room is probably consistent with 2.5 star rating. Could do with air freshener. Shared facilities could be better maintained, but in-room wash basin is useful.
Local area is not the most desirable, but is close to Civic Centre station hence easy transportation to SFO.
- Liam (2/5): DO NOT STAY! - There isn't an emoji to describe how bad this neighbourhood is. We got our car locked in the parking lot next door at 6pm because it's too risky during dark hours. This hotel is in the center of Tenderloin. And doesn't say so on the description. The hotel itself is dingy, the view from our room was a wall covered in pigeon poo and a garbage tip inbetween. We locked the door and nearly got our takeaway stolen in the 30 seconds I was on the street. By a country mile the worst place I have ever stayed. Don't even think about getting any sleep. So noisy. I can only struggle to find one positive, the shower and toilets are clean. I wish the same could of been said about our bedding. We decided to sleep on top of the duvet because of the stain on the sheet. Glad it's over
- Verified traveler (10/5): Not as bad as people make it out to be - After reading other reviews, I was scared to say at this place. But my bad expectations were disappointed. For paying a low price in San Francisco, where everything is three times the price it is elsewhere, we got a nice, clean, safe room with a friendly, professional service a 5 minute walk from the bart station. The very nice guy let us leave our luggage before check in and after check out so we didn't have to haul it through the city. Shared bathroom, yes, but it was only for a night and the bathroom was clean and modern. Rooms have these cards as keys, so it seemed safe to me. Yes, the area is a bit dodgy, but the homeless people weren't bad, they didn't even talk to us or ask for money so I don't know what people's problems are, nothing the hotel can do about it either. I felt safe where we stayed and after a five minute walk and paying like 2.50 for the bart you can be in the nicer part of town. Maybe wouldn't stay with children, but for a couple for just a night, this was excellent value for money. Thanks
- Stephanie (2/5): Horrible neighborhood - The neighborhood was AWFUL!! It made me actually cry and not want to get out of the car!! We didn't even stay, we left in the middle of the night... Did not feel safe at all...
