Guest Reviews

- Celia (9/5): I enjoyed our stay and loved the staff Precious and Trinity were absolute stars. - Beautiful setting lovely tent good facilities. No fans in the tent and no plugs for my CPAP machine.
- Eric (10/5): - Great place to stay. Authentic, great vibe.
- F. (7/5): Good - A beautiful camp on an truly amazing location.
You can watch wildlife and birds all day from the main area and from your tent.
The staff was really hospitable and friendly and the food excellent. Tents comfortable and good beds and shower.
It's a beautiful part of the Kruger park.
The evening drives where nice and we had some nice sightings. The walks itself where disappointing.
I've done a lot of them all over SA so I know what to expect. (You don't always see as much wildlife) But we didn't see anything at all. To me it felt as if we where avoiding animals / encounters. Not following prints and sounds and walk areas with very low animal density because of the type of vegetation.
It was like the guides heart wasn't in it.
- Patrick (10/5): Walking and sleeping in the bush - The location, the walks and the sleep over in the bush.
My second stay there and even better than the first one.
GREAT FOOD!
The guide tries very hard to find every single animal possible and he has been successful ! Nothing.
- Samara (10/5): Amazing stay in Kruger - Everything was amazing. The campsite is beautiful, clean and staff are helpful and kind. The food is fresh and delicious. Everything was perfect.
- Ronell (10/5): it was a lovely experience - it was well equipped and well maintained nothing
- Patrick (9/5): magnificent - The location is fantastic. Max 8 guests capacity. Food was excellent. Very quiet, no wifi, silence and nature with people looking at the same thing as you do. Everything ok. The ranger was sometimes too serious but always correct.
- Laura (6/5): Good, not excellent experience- for this price not acceptable - Beautiful and comfortable tents. Area beautiful, Big 5 territory. RWS is at the higher end of walking safaris and offers at first glance a high-end experience. However, the staff falls short with several little things that just makes this a good, not excellent, experience. Our guide Jan unfortunately had zero people skills and does not seem interested in staying at RWS very long. With a better guide it would have been a very good experience in which we could overlook the other, smaller shortcomings. The guide always makes or breaks the experience.
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (8/5): Darryl and Amos, our guides were very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of information regarding the animals and t - Fantastic location with wildlife wandering around and just outside the camp. Very comfortable tented accommodation. Meals were plentiful and a good standard with varied menu Minor point but shower was unpredictable.. from very hot to cold!
- Mei (10/5): Luxury Tent - Beautiful luxury tent.
Walking safari was unique and wonderful experience, make sure your fitness level is good. Otherwise it can be quite tiring. So far so good. I don't eat exotic meats and i skip it
- Philippe (5/5): Passable - Different Lodge Experience with a part of walking safaris. For an expensive night cost, you have no correct washing and shower system provided. The drinks are not included.
Only small meals at midday...exactly at 15h30, just before safaris.
During safaris, traditionnally a drink is offered... but if you have not well understood, no drink....
You have no intimity: the breakfast, lunch and dinner are shared with other guests and guide.... in english only...no effort no courtesy for french....
This system is interesting with attentioned guide...and other guests....
The meal and food was not in accord with cost...
The more disappointing Lodge experience for us.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (10/5): Not to be missed walking safari opportunity - A walking safari is combined with a late afternoon and after dark game drive. There aren’t many opportunities to do either one of these activities in Africa. Daryl, the camp manager and principal guide, is a real character in the best sense of the word. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and that of his assistant guide. Getting exercise on safari is not easy to come by and this four day three night trip really helped to overcome that problem. Daryl was a master at spotting game. We had lots of lion and leopard sightings. Seeing them at night was so cool. We loved it all
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good -
- Thelele (10/5): all in all, the stay was excellent - Delicious bed and beddings to be improved to a little better
- Saige (10/5): An incredible holiday, we highly recommend rhino walking safari's - absolutely fantastic.
we walked almost onto a lion kill, the rangers were professional and extremely knowledgeable. the outdoor sleep out was an absolute must.
william the chef was exceptional. darryl and Amos really were fantastic rangers. in one night we saw, wild dog, lion, leopard, a puff adder and elephant!
- Sara (9/5): Magic walks in the bush with the best guides ever! - Plains Camp is wonderful and really peaceful. Falling asleep and waking up with the fauna’s sounds is amazing. We woke up with the impalas at 100 meters from our tent and during the day we had elephants and kudus in front of the camp. The tent is spacious and the decoration is nice and simple, nothing is missing in the room and bathroom, a real 4 star accommodation. Beds are very comfortable. During the day you’ll have some time to relax in the cute little swimming pool and chill in the open lounge in front of that beautiful view. Highlights: the food was amazing and Darryl is the best guide and person we could dream of! He’s got so much knowledge and walking in the bush with him and Aurence (the second very good ranger), was one of the most amazing feelings we’ve ever had! The only little inconvenient is that there was no electricity cause the generator was broken again. We actually enjoyed this because we really had the feeling to be immersed in the real wild and the atmosphere with the torches was beautiful. But for some people it might not be the same.
A little advise for other guests, as we did not really understand this: at plains camp you do mainly walking (so the chance to see animals is smaller, but the walk is amazing). So if you also want to do game drives we advise to do some nights also at Rhino Post Safari.
- Trish (10/5): An amazing and memorable experience! Sleep out, walks, drives and the overall stay was wonderful! - Location was beautiful and remote! A truly special setting. The meals were delicious and catered well to vegetarians! Nothing!
- Lilienne (9/5): Darryl is an outstanding guide, William and outstanding chef - they made the trip. - Food was very good and they catered extremely well for the Vegan requirements as requested No hot water for a day, which really should have been determined prior to arrival.
- Rob (9/5): Superb - Location perfect and well away from the busy roads in southern Kruger. Some great walks and overnight in the bush was special! Check in procedures not outlined clearly, caused some irritations!
- Sonia (10/5): Beautiful experience in the Kruger - We enjoyed the walks and the fantastic experience of the three male lions around us on one of our walks. The knowledge of Pete and Albino the tracker. We learned so much about the bush, tracks, how animals can be noticed by what they do to trees or bushes. The walking is such a different feel to seeing wildlife than in a car.the food by William the chef was delicious and you don't go hungry. Comfortable tents and the view of the plans with the elephants during the day was so relaxing. Only issue was generator done so no lights in tent in evening.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An incredible experience. Everything from the food to the tents to the walks to the guides was AMAZING. I would recommend this to ANYONE who wants a unique, exciting and humbling experience in the bush.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Kruger Walks - Great experience in this small 4 tent camp. Guide Andre, tracker Amos and Precious and Dora looked after us very well. We did a mixture of walking and vehicle trips. We were meant to do the sleep out and although we got there and had dinner we had to return due to a big storm coming in. Safety at all times was paramount. We have done many bush walks and the safety briefing was the best we’d ha guiding standards were high with lots of new info given. Food was delicious and plentiful. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is kind of open plan with a part low wall. Some dust or cobwebs needed removed but generally fine. We did well to track rhino on foot, see lions, leopards, elephants, rhino etc from the vehicle.
