Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - What a great host Angela was. We felt welcomed from the time we arrived. Our room was very clean and everything that was promised. The cliff trail was stunning and most needed after a long drive. The only issue I had was a lack of hot water when I showered. However, after breakfast it was fine.
- Juan (10/5): - Angela was the greatest host ever, the house is nice, clean, great rooms, good bed, excelent breakfast and she is very nice.
- Jan (10/5): - This break away from it all was jlexactly what was needed. What's not to like, the setting with a burn running by and peacocks. The apartment was lovely clean and even a little fabulous. We were well cared for by our host too
- Janice (10/5): Absolutely fabulous - A fantastic stay in this beautiful location. The host was friendly, thoughtful and welcoming.
- Ryan (10/5): - I really enjoyed my last minute booking at Toadhals. I thought I was lost, following Google Maps down a rough, unpaved road just off the highway, but the directions were correct. The hostess came out to welcome me and showed me to my room, which was large and comfortable. She recommended a good place to eat supper in Stonehaven, and also directed me to a great walk around the property that went up on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Breakfast was prepared fresh, and was very good. I would definitely go back.
- Cbgbees (10/5): Absolutely recommend! - Angela was a fantastic host! The property was beautiful to explore, the breakfast was delicious, the room was cozy, and she gave us a great dinner recommendation. She also has massage services! We wished we would’ve stayed longer here, it was such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, just near the cliffs of the North Sea. Would absolutely recommend!
- Gordon (10/5): - My four year old son said that toad hall was "such fun".
Had a great stay and was well looked after by Angela.
- David (10/5): 2 Wonderful Nights at The Toadhall Rooms B&B - We had a wonderful time at Toadhall B&B! We were warmly welcomed by our host, Angela who made us feel quite at home. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable! I loved the rain shower in the bathroom. We certainly slept well during our 2 night stay. Dinner recommendations were excellent and on point. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. This morning, she served us baked peaches with a maple sauce, which was incredibly delicious! There are peacocks roaming about and 2 cheeky geese that were very interested in getting their treats. What an absolute delight for us!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will not hesitate to book again when we are in the area!
- Warren (10/5): - The drive into this beautiful place is a bit bumpy, and you need a car/truck that is not too low or it could be tricky. The rooms were fantastic and accessed by stairs, which you need to know if you are travelling with anyone who has health considerations. The bathroom was perfect, and the hostess was AMAZING!!! The breakfast was lovely, nothing like fresh eggs from her own chickens. It was a lovely spot with a cute little hike to a private beach area. Very suitable for a recharge getaway. No restaurants, but did have a fridge to put items into. Would definitely rebook.
- Casey (10/5): - Amazing location right out on the cliffs. The hosts were amazing people and very accommodating to all of our needs. The castle was the top 5 best we have ever seen in the world so far!
- Steven (10/5): - Excellent host very friendly and helpful
- lisasR2598LY (10/5): Life Changing Experience - We loved our time here, it was truly a life changing experience.
If you are just a casual traveler a few tips:
Its off road a bit, be careful, it will look like you are going the wrong way, but keep going!
Eat dinner before you get there or prepare for a fun excursion to Stonehaven to eat in the dark, and it is DARK there if you are from (US). There are a lot of good places to eat there if you get there early enough, the town is beyond beautiful, if you can visit during the day it will be worth it as it is gorgeous!
Non casual travelers:
Definitely worth the stop.
Angela is the most perfect host. Rooms are charming, clean and beautiful.
Breakfast was perfect, Angela is an amazing cook.
View of the North Sea is spectacular! It is a bit of a walk to the beach and also returning back. It’s definitely worth it
We look forward to returning very soon.
- A1977DDlaurenb (10/5): Excellent hospitality near Aberdeen - We (two adults, one child) stayed four nights at Toadhall Rooms as part of a longer trip through Scotland. Our travel agent arranged this B&B for us. The rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and the hospitality was top notch. The location feels a bit odd at first, right off A92, but the house is a very short walk away from the beach. Thank you for the excellent stay!
- 696rayb (10/5): Just what was needed. - This was an unexpected stay as we had booked accomodation opposite but due to having to change our dates, couldn't stay there for our entire stay. Hence we had 2 nights at Toadhall.
Angela was very welcoming and gave us 'The Dog House' which is a self contained room with super king bed and additional bed/s. It had a good size fridge, microwave, coffee machine, sink kettle etc. It has a lovely feel to the room which is beside a small river and has peacocks, geese and chickens roaming around (the colourful peacocks can be fed by hand whereas the white one is slightly more timid). We were offered breakfast but didn't take this offer up so can't comment on this.
The room is nice and comfortable with a great feel to it. Alistair and Angela make you feel at home and couldn't have been more helpful.
There are some wonderful walks on your doorstep with a secluded beach and clifftops.
I thoroughly recommend this location for a peacefull getaway with a friendly welcome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The host was very welcoming and friendly. Room was tidy and well-maintained
- trackerem (10/5): Close to a beach w cliffs! - Beautiful farm house in the country! Big room, wonderful bath w a tub! Good breakfast! Location was close to the beach w cliffs! Close to Stonehaven! Hosts were helpful w things close to do! Stonehaven Barbour had good food, nice downtown area w food & shops!
- Erlend (10/5): Fantastic! - Had a lovely, relaxing time.
Room was amazing.
Food delicious - freshly prepared.
Massage was first class.
Beautiful coastal walk.
Angela and Ali are great hosts
- michalm179 (10/5): Amazing peaceful stay with the family - Most amazing time!! Most gracious hosts greeted us to a lovely stay - peaceful place with great view and surroundings! Even the peacocks greeted us. Clean and has everything you need for the whole family. Close to many attractions Definitely will come back!
- MargaretR1197 (10/5): Maggi Reeves - Amazing stay at Toadhall rooms. Accommodation very clean, breakfast amazing and the hosts, Angela and her husband were just fantastic very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this place to stay for chilled relaxing experience
- J J (10/5): - Amazing accommodation. Huge ceilings z lots of natural light . Hosts went above and beyond by providing us with cereal and bread etc . Also , list of things to do , places to go , places to eat etc
Beds were so comfy . We were made to feel so welcome and comfy
- Anthony (10/5): - Immaculate accommodation, excellent breakfasts, very pleasant hosts, most enjoyable stay.
- Monika1of2 (10/5): A little hamlet - the perfect retreat - We felt welcome from the word 'go'. We took our two little dogs and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. Not only are the surroundings beautiful, but the 'dog house' where we stayed (a self-contained apartment n an outhouse) was excellent. Very spacious, clean, large bathroom and the fridge was stocked with all the breakfast essentials. And fresh breakfast was delivered to the apartment. TIP for dog owners: Keep your dog on the leash. Peacocks and chickens are free roaming.
- mdre07 (10/5): Away from the crowds - Our host were very welcoming the breakfast was delicious. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Wonderful walk to cliffs looking down on coast line, you will need to be in reasonable shape to make it down to the actual water. You can’t see the coast from the house but there is a stream running by the house that is very nice. There is a train line close to the house if you are a light sleeper it might bother you. I would go back again given the occasion.
- Catherine H. (10/5): Lovely stay - We had a wonderful stay at Toad Hall. Angela and her husband have created a special place to visit. We stayed in the Doghouse and it more than met our expectations. Everything was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Angela went out of her way to make us feel at home. Her cooking is divine! Our breakfasts were 5 stars. And her recommendations for local eateries and things to do were perfect. The property itself is very quiet and pretty. And an easy walk to the sea with stunning views. We would definitely stay here again.
- mrln_712 (10/5): Just Great! - We had an excellent stay at Toadhall. First of all, Angela is a great hostess and did everything to make us comfortable. Also when we found out our flight was cancelled she was happy to be of assistence. We had the big appartment with more than enough room to make ourselves at home. The surroundings are stunning! Only 5 minutes walk away you find the cliffs and you can descend all the way to the sea itself. It was beautiful. 10 minutes driving you'll find Stonehaven with enough possibilities for dinner etc. This part of Scotland (Toadhall as well) is really worth visiting, not just to drive past of only for one night.
- hungrycustomer2015 (10/5): What an absolute delight! - Was absolutely blown away by every detail of our stay here. Beautiful location, beautiful home, beautiful owners! So friendly and warm and my goodness the breakfast was just amazing. You just can't beat fresh eggs from the back of the garden! So quiet and very comfy bed. Clean and tidy. Really could not fault a thing will definitely be returning! Keep an eye out for the beautiful peacocks aswell!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - wonderful location and hostess! great breakfast with geese and peacocks keeping us company. super local recommendations, can enthusiastically recommend :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice b&b close to the motorway - Proprietario gentilissimo e simpaticissimo. Camera confortevole , letti molto comodi , colazione abbondante e varia. Volendo, erano offerte le uova a km. 0 di Ale! La stradina di accesso forse è da migliorare.
- Sandie (10/5): Five star accommodation, a hidden treasure - Down a pebbled little road, I was initially a little concerned about what I had booked. But as soon as we pulled into the private courtyard we were greeted by the host and.shown to a beautiful.family suite which opened onto the courtyard. Modern, clean and stylish the suite was a perfect end to a.long.journey. There was a mini kitchen including a coffee.machine, table and chairs, huge bed and a.luxe bathroom. Before we are we took our cameras to photograph the coast, a three minute walk away. The breakfast the next day was fresh and delicious. I don't eat pork was was presented with a large.field mushroom stuffed with spinach, buttery scrambled eggs, beans and thick toast. After breakfast, the hostess showed us a a little secret waterfall, which as a family of photographers, was a treat. A wonderful stay with brilliant hosts.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great accommodation in 'the doghouse' & the hosts could not have been more welcoming, friendly & helpful.
