Thomas (10/5): - This is a little old strip of cottages in what’s probably literally the best location in the area. The people are very nice and helpful and the energy is great here. Everything you could need is in walking distance. Multiple restaurants, Walgreens, Publix, even a mechanic. The dock is quiet with tons of aquatic hobby stuff and my dog was welcome here. It’s more like staying at someone’s guest house. Be aware that this is not like a resort it’s much more of a place to stay for people that are very active on the water and in and out because they’re doing things locally. Would gladly come back. Oh and the landscaping is kind of impressive. Some very nice trees and plants if you have an eye for that.

Heidi (9/5): A nice place on the water with friendly staff and a lot to do on property. - The cottage is a very short walk to the beach and off the main road where you can do everything. The property had a lot of equipment that they let you take out in the water. Kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, snorkel gear. There was a nice hut that gives shade to sit in and watch or relax. It had a good feel there. The staff was always talking to us and seemed to care if we were enjoying ourselves.

Key Largo itself was a busy place but that is to be expected that time of year but that would be the only down fall of this destination.

Too expensive for what you can find there.there’s no beach just docks The owner is racist,he doesn’t like Spanish speaking people. Since he saw us uploading our stuff , he went there to complain about the car. I explained to him what we were doing. They lied all the time . They said they had parking for the boat and they didn’t,the manager that welcomed us,said there was no problem having visitors and the owner came in saying that visitors were not allowed. From a 3 nights reservations(2rooms), we just stayed one night .Next day in the morning the owner went there saying we broke the rules with our guests which was a lie,I have proof that they made a reservation in a Holiday in hotel . He got us out the property,without taking care that we were with 2 kids,we lived far from the place and we didn’t have any other reservation . We want our money back.the owner was looking to get advantage of us . He just cares about money. Poor man

Michelle (1/5): We had a car accident that totaled our car just a few miles away from the resort, the staff were exceptional at helping - Nothing, it’s hidden behind what seems to be a junk yard, and we went past it three times as the sign is a makeshift looking piece of cardboard about a foot off the ground that is weathered and hard to read. Everything. Pictures don’t tell the story of the sorry state of the units at such a high price.
Hazel (10/5): - Love this place! Very friendly and secluded. Not your typical resort-look elsewhere if that’s what you want. But if you want a friendly private sailing camp where you hang out with other fun people and like to sail and kayak, this is absolutely it! The use of the sailboat alone more than pays for the room.

RobDoolittle (2/5): We won't be going back. - The views and access to the water at this facility are lovely but don't make up for the condition of the property and the room we stayed in. We were very disappointed and don't believe there was value for our dollar here. Here are some of the reasons why: The entry to the club looks like a dump - a jumble of vehicles that appear to be abandoned, broken signs, neglected boats, roadside trash, a narrow, dark dirt road that's hard to find among all the debris... hardly welcoming. All of the "cottages" are in some state of disrepair, with clutter, dirt and disarray throughout the property. When you include several RVs parked against the fence, and the out-of-service boat hulls stacked behind the parking area, and the appearance is unprofessional and unwelcoming. The deck in front of the Owner's Cottage contains mismatched boards and an ugly stained 'sun shade' stretched over the patio table. The fascia board on the front of the house is CLEARLY ROTTING and in need of paint. Many of the fence boards adjacent to the front deck are also in need of replacement. The entry lock on the Owner's Cottage (our first impression) provides no security. Anyone with a screwdriver could easily defeat it. And there's mildew on the frame of the sliding glass door that forms the entry. We could hear the guests next door through the double doors that separate the 'living room' (where the TV is located) from the adjacent unit. There's a jumble of unexplained wiring surrounding the TV, and the selection of channels available is very limited. The couches in the living room look like they came out of someone's basement playroom in the 1970s. They are uncomfortable, unsanitary and unpleasant to look at. The roof in the Owner's Cottage leaked. We had to put pots from the kitchen on the floor to catch the brown water filtering through the ceiling. The Owner's Cottage is advertised as having a "cool kitchen" that "is well equipped." "If you want to cook, this is your choice," according to the website. I disagree. The pots and pans that are in the kitchen are filthy, the nonstick coating in several pots flakes off into your food while cooking, and there aren't enough matching dishes, glasses or cutlery to set a table. What we did find was a continuous stream of some sort of powdery debris falling onto the counter, which I assumed was created by bugs eating their way through some of the woodwork in the kitchen and dropping it. I never did find where they were eating, though, after cleaning it up morning and night on each day of our stay. In the second bedroom, there's some sort of string net hanging over the ladder up to the queen loft. It's not apparent what function it is intended to serve, but it does get in the way when an adult tries to climb up or down. The bathroom is awful. The sink (which is not adequately attached to the wall) drains too slowly to keep up with the flow of the water from the faucet. The caulking around the sink, and the grout around the ceramic toothbrush/cup holder, needs to be refreshed. And the exposed brick walls surrounding the shower are filthy with mildew from constant exposure to water and soap and never drying or being adequately cleaned. The tub has chipped porcelain and rust stains, cracked tiles and mildew. The wall separating the bathroom from the kitchen does not extend to the ceiling, meaning every sound made in either room is clearly audible in the other. The water toys (kayaks, etc.) all look like they've been kicking around for years. Yes, they float, but newer equipment would make a better impression. In summary, for the money we paid we expected cleaner, newer, more attractive and more comfortable accommodations. The facility may once have been charming and appealing, now it is third-rate at best in my opinion.

Brandi (10/5): - The environment was awesome and laid back. They had everything on hand to use at our fingertips. Canoes, kayaks, snorkel gear, fishing stuff, and plenty of seating to watch the sun set. Upon arrival the guy was telling us the rules and said ots like grandpas house, you get it out, you put it up. I didn't recall his name, so we just called him grandpa. Thw property manager witnessed me trying to catch lizards and he tolde id never get one.. i took it as a challenge and caught one. Managed to tell him too. I really wish i had a pen to write in the journal the keep there for their guests to write in to leave our memorable experiences for the next guests to read. I hope to some day visit again. It was a blast!

Paddle board, kayak, swim, snorkel, sail. We also took a day trip down to Key West and didn't have to pay the Key West prices.
johnh20142014 (10/5): Great get away in Key Largo - Everything was fine - especially all staff - sailing and housekeeping. We were very happy with the boats and kayaks etc. We enjoyed and valued the advice given during checkout - where to go etc. The scope of the sailing area was such that I think two one week stays would allow most of the territory to be explored. It feels big enough to enjoy but not so big as to be intimidating. It is line of sight sailing. Key Largo is nice place to visit. Key Lime convenient to nice restaurants and a Publix grocery that has an excellent range. We also took a trip to Everglades and enjoyed that - saw a manatee and a very big croc. (Perhaps you go soon if you want to see a manatee - they are in trouble.)
Andrew (10/5): - Absolutely fantastic stay. Very suttle down to earth cottages, if you're looking for a 5 star resort with all the amenities this is definitely not the place. However, if you are looking for a fun relaxing get away close to everything in Key Largo. I highly reccomend. The staff was excellent and so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The kids had a blast. Will definitely be going again.
Julie (8/5): Not what we expected - For starters, the real name of this property is Key Lime Sailing Club, and it is, yes, primarily a spot for sailing hobbyists. This was not mentioned in the Hotels.com listing. And some things that were listed on Hotels.com as part of the property simply did not exist, such as the private beach, private beach cabanas, and free wi-fi (we were told to "walk down the driveway" for service). That makes a pretty big difference in the kind of experience one has here. There were also some smaller issues such as a ceiling fan that would not turn off (and which the property owner made clear would not be fixed while we were there) and no towel racks or accessible surfaces in the bathroom. All of that said, it's still a great location (which comes at a significant price) and a generally nice cottage.

I was so unsure if we would actually get to sail on our own, but Barnard patiently gave us the guidance and assurance we needed to make it possible. Kudos to Barnard!!! Visiting with other guests in the tiki hut while watching the sunset was also a highlight. Thank you so much for your hospitality!"
Katharine (10/5): Great stay! - We had an amazing stay at the Key Largo Cottages at Key Lime Sailing Club! We loved our cottage (one bedroom had a cute queen sized loft my 8 year old daughter spent lots of time relaxing in!). It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had all the cookware and more you could need. The free use of the water toys made it easy to enjoy every minute outside without having the hassle of "checking out and checking in" in hourly increments like some resorts. We were also able to use one of their 22' sailboats based on my husband's experience sailing--a very uncommon but terrific amenity. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, despite a very late check in and very early check out.

All the staff at the resort was friendly and helpful. A special shoot out to Bob and Rosie who went above and beyond. Paul was a gracious host. The water toys where great. I enjoyed the funky vibe which I had read about in other reviews. Kick back and relax at the cabana.

Best of both worlds ! sailing as much as one wants, but so many other water sports included. Loved the cabin and tiki hut. Some may want something more luxurious, but for us it was perfect. sskroll (10/5): Getting away from it all - Great place to forget your troubles. Cottages were ideal. They even let us bring our little dog. It was quiet and relaxing. We have to go back! We were right on the Gulf of Mexico so we had access to fishing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding which was all furnished by the sailing club.

Be careful if you bring a dog, there are rules that pop up after you book, not all units are dog friendly and they will charge you per pet per night. Read all the fine print. Good if you are into sailing or kayaking, not much else to do on site.

graycalhoo (10/5): Key Largo - the only Key you need to go to. - We stayed at the Playa Largo Resort which was great. Key Largo has so much to offer. You have the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the calm waters of the Florida Everglades Mangrove Forest the other. Sailing, snorkeling, dolphin shows, great restaurants, bars and shops. The people there were so friendly. We did a day trip to Key West and we didn’t stay long. There are some really nice (but very expensive) museums and, of course, Duval Street. Duval Street was cool until about 3pm when people were already drinking too much. If you like drinking you’ll love Key West - if not you might end up with our impression - we wasted a day in Key West. I’ve always wanted to go there, but I’ll never go back. I WILL go back to Key Largo though. We absolutely loved it.
