Guest Reviews
- Pam (4/5): Disappointing -
- Teria (7/5): Good - It was clean and comfortable. Wifi was good! Sky Tv wasn’t working and there was no heater.
- Ernie (5/5): Passable -
- Ray (6/5): - The proporty require a complete revamp interms of new beds , TV, kitcheware and etc. It is untidy but have a very good potential and if the owner mordenize the motel
- Lance (2/5): Do not waist your precious time at this place.never seen worse than this. - No milk. No facecloth. 1 hand towel. No soap. No hand-wash. No toilet paper. Kids running around 3am yelling from permane to rooms.
Actually a crap place and would never stay again.
Tidy your act up guys this quite a s--hole.
- Raewyn (3/5): Poor - Booked four rooms for 8 people for 4 nights, 1 room had putrid smell coming from the drains, no amount of airing out helped even after they tipped draino down the drains, hit n miss whether we got hot water or not, tv not working, seen a few cockroaches, reception was locked and was never anyone in reception when we needed, even when we checked our....rooms were non refundable or would have checked out early.
Would not recommend staying here
- Liz (4/5): - Room was ok, NO Hot water and the TV doesn't work.
- Bill (6/5): - very helpful manager
very run down property, need to revise sign to match facilities currently providing
- Brendan (5/5): Convenient location, but not clean or well maintained. - Weeds were growing high outside the rooms and the shower curtain was mouldy.
- Abdul (8/5): - Good place to stay, would book here again, only thing is I tried calling the place but no answer, wrote them a message but no reply.
- Keith (6/5): - This property is badly rundown and in desperate need of some TLC. No hot water when we arrived and to be fair, the manager offered to find us another place or give us a discount. We decided to stay, as we were really tired! It would have been a really classy place once and probably could be again but it would take a huge investment!
- Niccolo (8/5): good - quiet and clean rooms, very spacious and comfy beds no handsoap or shower supplies
- Steven (3/5): Poor -
- Richard (3/5): They allowed us to have our small dog when most didn't so for that we were grateful. - The person at reception was friendly but unable to do anything about the state of the premises. It is obvious that major improvements are needed. There seems to be a lack from the owners to invest in improvements. We were offered a bigger unit at rear upstairs when we refused the front unit. Manager took note of our concerns but seemed unable to do much without support of the owners. Exterior is untidy with lots of weeds, broken and missing steps and some rubbish. Inside the reception area customers can see into the abandoned restaurant area stacked with furniture. Outside street sign indicates facilities that no longer exist and is in need of replacement. Property is excessively noisy with many heavy vehicles passing by day and night. Many units empty and obviously not fit for accommodation. Our replacement unit had a dirty fridge that was rusting inside. It needed defrosting badly which we did with towels supplied by the manager. Incomplete set of coffee mugs, glasses and bowls/plates. Inside of kitchen cupboard dirty. Coffee mug hadn't been washed. Stove top had no control knobs. No dish brush or tea towel. Double bed base was tatty and fabric torn. Unit hot but no fan. Light switch in bedroom on far wall, so fumbled around in dark to find it. Shower cubicle was dirty. Hot water took ages to finally reach the unit. Mixer in shower handle came off. Stairs to unit had obvious structural damage.
- Rob (2/5): Very poor - Room was reasonably comfortable Reception locked all day. Unable to contact staff even calling on 2 different numbers. Had to "break in" through the unsecred emergency exit to retrieve some food rhey stored for me in the freezer.Common areas totally rundown, non functional,, dirty and junk lying all over the place.. This place should be condemned
- Tania (5/5): Passable -
- Bryan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Greg (7/5): It was good - It was just what I needed. Shower facility is a little ageing
- Nirosh (4/5): - I booked that room for 4 people, but room had utilities only for one person.
- Ingolf (8/5): Very good -
- MARIA (2/5): - It was good to arrive and walk into my room. Pissed off no normal channels on tv only a song channel. Watered down soap in bottle in bathroom. Took too long for the shower water to heat up.. Not even worth wot i paid for. Needs a good clean up around the place. motel. Its only a money motel.
- Aaron (3/5): Poor -
- Sharon (8/5): Very good -
- Gerald (6/5): - New manager is working to improve facilities
- Michelle Memory Stephanie (6/5): - It was ok for the price
- Sharni (4/5): Needs some tender loving care - Location & being allowed a dog It was a beaten up place, broken windows, long grass not well kept. No milk in fridge, no person upon arrival, step up into Shower was difficult for elderly to get into.
- Renny john (4/5): - Sorry to say this but it wasn’t good as it lacked cleanliness. The trash wasn’t taken out , nor the towels changed , unlike any other motels we stayed before.
- Diane (5/5): Adequate - Easy checkin.
Rooms are clean.
They were happy to accommodate me and my two dogs. Motel was generally poor condition - looked old, neglected and run down.
- Jonathan (4/5): Disappointing - Large room and comfortable bed I just happened to catch the manager walking through the office when it was open, to check in. After the office closed, it was impossible to contact him, so my girlfriend was unable to get a hairdryer (available on request) and we had to walk across the road to the petrol station to buy toilet paper when the roll in our unit ran out.
- Yuki (4/5): - Toilet was not cleaned. No substantial cutleries and plates.
Staff was nice.
- Sarah (5/5): Comfy bed - The bed was lovely and comfortable and the shower had great pressure, was nice that it allowed my dog to be with me The room, may have been cleaned but just didn't feel tidy, the hot water tap was left running when I got there, and didn't fully turn off,
- Linda (10/5): Value for money - cheap and cheerful. - It was clean, spacious, value for money and quiet. The bed was comfortable. Even though there wasn’t air con thankfully there was a fan which we used as it was humid. The motel is close to a supermarket and other amenities. The staff were friendly.
- Catherine (4/5): - The place is well located and the staff is very friendly.
Unfortunately, the quality of the room wasn’t good. Not very clean and lots of things missing: kettle, soap, sponge, only 2 glasses/ 1 cup/ 2 plates for 4 people. We asked the friendly guy working there and we got a few more things.
We had to wash again the cutlery and plates before using them. The windows were very dirty, etc.
The place has a lot of potential but needs some improvement.
- Preetika (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tasi (10/5): - Clean family room very spacious and the beds were comfortable for a family of 4
- Dennis (8/5): - My room in this older motel was completely renovated and very nice.
- Michael (5/5): Passable - No hot water,
- Denys (8/5): - Average accommodation but comfortable bed
- Sullivan (8/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Great location, friendly staff, clean room An extra towel or 2 for the room would be lovely
- Craig (1/5): Never again - Nothing Noisy, dated, disgusting.
- Lisa (5/5): Passable - Rooms were ok although kitchenette was dated Motel is exceptionally noisy being on SH1 with the truck coming through during the night. No milk was given, there was no tea towel or wash cloth for drying dishes and wiping bench too also there was no face wash clothes supplied. Also, dishwash liquid never got refilled when it was empty. The grounds around the motel also required a major tidy-up
- Tanara (5/5): Passable -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dated decor, uncomfortable bed, but clean and tidy - The check in was fine, the proprietor was friendly and attentive. The room smelled musty and damp and had very dated decor, but it was clean and tidy. The motel was right on the main road, but the traffic noise wasn't too bad.
- Ardern (9/5): Great for the price. Close to everything - Close to everything. Manager was very helpful and couldn’t do enough No one at reception. Had to call a number every time
- Maraea (3/5): Poor -
- Ramari.t.p (1/5): Bad - Nothing A small heater which smelt when turned on. The bar fridges chill box was covered with a huge clump of ice Little .You had to guess how to turn the element on as the numbers were missing. The so called double bed had the hardest mattress ever, you could feel the springs in the mattress, the so called electric blanket did not work at all, the duvet was very thin it was freezing. I had to leave the little fan heater on high all night as it's winter!! The extractor fan in the shower was covered in big clumps of dust & cobwebs. You could smell cigarette residue inside the room & last but not least you had to leave the hot water running in the shower plus turn on the hot water tap in the basin up to 5mins or more to get hot water!!! I give this lodge an F for FAILURE
- Fu (8/5): Very good -
- Hammond (1/5): Would not advise people to stay here. - There was a terrible overpowering smell emanating from the bathroom in Studio 8, resulting in headaches and cough. This prevented us staying the second night.
One of the heaters provided did not work.
No light shade in one of the bedrooms. One of the window's duct taped up in bedroom.
No extra blankets or pillows. No cover on duvet - just sheets. No mattress protector. No electric blankets.
Electrical wiring hanging out of socket behind bedhead.
Dirty oven rings.
No milk provided.
Kitchen net curtains hang on to kitchen bench - fire risk.
Dispute over cancellation fee for another separate Studio Room.
- Teiria (1/5): Bad -
- Vanessa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Danielle (5/5): Passable -
- Maria (3/5): Poor - That it was close too the shops garages Didnt hve hot water in the rooms not enough towels and plus all the stommping off feet frm.upstairs and the parking
- Bram (5/5): Passable -
- Lexon (6/5): Pleasant -
- David (1/5): Never ever stay there - Ample parking Bar and restaurant closed
No heat pump
Pathetic little heater
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rashuvit (1/5): Bad - Staff Inside the motel room, it smells bad. Sheets looks unclean.
- Ajay (4/5): No restaurant - nothing No proper heaters
no milk
- Pickles (2/5): Smelly, uncomfortable and poorly maintained. Needs a lot of updating. - Price seemed good at the time of booking. Not good value though. Everything else.
We booked into your premises late last night around 8pm. We left around 10pm as we could no longer stand the smell or the poor maintenance of the room, namely the bathroom and uncomfortable mattress. There was nowhere to drop the key in, so we left it on the sink drainer and locked the room before we left. We had to find alternative accommodation at late notice elsewhere that was more comfortable and better maintained.
I would like a FULL refund of the cost of the room.
Thank you.
- Gillian (3/5): Not a nice stay - The room was niceable when you enter it. The sheets were not clean, they had stains on them. No extra blankets if cold. Only one cup in kitchenette and it was stained, no milk given on arrival. If I had known there were homeless people staying there, I would not have booked. I only stayed one night and then went to a friends place for the remaining two nights. The shower had a huge step into it and then the water just went right over top of you. White towels are nice but not if they are not clean. Outside of the building and the grounds need a big lot of attention. Would not recommend to anyone.
- Lisa (2/5): Need to lower your $128pn to meet standards of accom. - Booking in was a breeze. Appeared to be new carpet. The entrance door had a hole in it (which resulted in being extremely cold during my night) 3x separate windows at climbing level! had no latches (staying as a woman by herself made me feel extremely uncomfortable). The switches from the powerpoints to the main room light had been removed leaving wires exposed. A knife was found amongst the long grass outside the room by another guest. My shoes had been taken by one of your permanent stayers upstairs while I was visiting another guest from our party. 1 roll of toilet paper on the handle which wasn't full or new! no excess in the cupboard. No complimentary body wash or hand soap - although there were 2x shampoos and 2x conditioners! The shower sprayed more water out the top of the cracked shower head over the curtain than it did in the shower.
- Susan (2/5): Very poor - Whole place needs a serious upgrade!
- Aimee (1/5): Awful … 😞 - Nothing Everything! It was so awful and old and dirty feeling, curtains hanging off tracks, emergency housing in there. Smashed front doors. Curtains tied in knots and ripped. Blood showing through sheet from under blanket . Filthy glasses etc ! We got moved to a new room that had brand new beds so that was good. Def would not stay again! Would keep on driving! Awful showers, and a strong smell of weed 😵💫 early morning fights outside. Cold as no heating . A lot of condensation on windows. Kitchen curtains are stapled and net hangs in sink. No plug so can’t wash dishes . Sparking light switch which the switch actually fell off 😅.
- Tanya (1/5): Bad -
- Tienie (3/5): Poor - Rooms were freshly painted and white bedding clean. Stinking carpets. Inadequate kitchen utensils; no pots for cooking, only 1 pan.
Messy stairs and balcony. No plugs at sink in kitchen or wash hand basin in bathroom.
- Celia (7/5): OK for an overnight stay - quiet room at the back. Friendly staff Old food left in the fridge
- Christtine (8/5): Overall quite happy. the host was very obliging when we requested a ground floor unit. - very comfy bed the room was in need of some much needed maintenance. While clean the bathroom cabinet and shower both needed upgrading. Not a good look.
- Rusty (5/5): Passable -
- Jean (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (4/5): Noisy as it’s on main highway with no noise barrier - Room size generally clean Lacking in general amenity’s such as dish washing toilet paper
- Malissa (4/5): I Probably wouldnt stay here again - The bed was comfy, the room was clean. They obviously have full time tenants there who are quite rude and loud. No respect for other people staying on site. I could hear yelling and arguing not only the afternoon I turned up but also early hours of Saturday morning. I would of given this feedback in person but reception was closed when I left just before 10am
- Patricia (3/5): Poor -
- Shannon (3/5): Poor -
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (4/5): Basic - Site Aged interiors, No plug in basin, Water from shower wet all floor to toilet (incorrect 'fall' in floor leveling
- Dhana (7/5): It was an ok stay, would of liked to have an aircon - The bed was very nice and the staff was extremely lovely The room smelt abit musty, there was spider webs behind the t.v, carpet felt crusty and damp plus it also smelt like pee in the corner of the room. The tiles in the bathroom were chipping away. The room itself was extremely hot, so would of liked an aircon in the room
- Alister (5/5): A perfectly adequate motel but rather disappointing. - The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was close to town and there were several good restaurants close by. I generally hate to give bad reviews but, in this case. I feel that I have no option to be fair to both the management and to future visitors. Whilst the room was perfectly adequate considering the price of $120, it was in very run down condition . There was water damage to the bathroom vanity which didn't make it any less usable but looked rather ugly and would be very easily fixed with a bit of sandpaper and paint. The toilet door had been removed but the old hinges were still in place. Again a very simple fix. Only one teaspoon was provided and there were no dishcloths or tea-towels. The outdoor area was rather scruffy with TV wires hanging loosely along the walls and a table badly needing some stain or paint. These are only very minor defects and would not cost a lot to repair. Perhaps I am being overly critical but a few minor fixes would make the motel a lot more attractive.
- Kalana (9/5): was good - condition was good no
- Llh0703 (8/5): Very good every t - Location was excellent It was kapai
- Mohammadhosseini (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joseph (5/5): Passable -
- Shalika (10/5): Exceptional - This is the best hotel that we booked on our road trip from Auckland to Wellington. It was very spacious and included a kitchenette. The kitchenette had everything from pots to cutlery. Lady at the front reception was very helpful and lovely. You won’t disappoint staying here. Nothing was bad.
- Balaji (9/5): Superb - The house was nice and clean.
- Jodie (5/5): Staff working hard, investments needed. - Took pets Needs some serious repairs and maintenance
- Charmaine (6/5): Pleasant - Affordable, the room was ok ..For putaruru I'd say it be the best accommodation close to town. No soap for hands or in any of the dispensers.
Toilet roll was half used.no spear.
Cleaning wasn't the best but I have seen worse.
not complaining,just voicing what's true.
Better for the Future check ins.
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Russ (8/5): OK -
- Ruth (7/5): Spotless room and a useful location. - The unit was absolutely spotless - the cleaning staff did a beautiful job. The new manager gave a lovely warm welcome and farewell at the end. The bed was spacious and very comfortable. The room was great for my dog because it led out into a securely fenced area, complete with picnic tables. It is in an excellent location - on the main road, very close to shops. There are several good off-lead walks nearby which made my dog very happy. Yes, the hotel is a little dilapidated, but it is apparently under new management and if the cleanliness of the room was anything to go by, I suspect it will all improve along with it.
- Rose (5/5): Passable - Friendly manager Run out of hot water, no spare blankets, and semi permanent residence
- Kell (4/5): probably got close to what i paid for. Ive had alot better - the initial booking
friendly and accomodating reception overall up keep of the facility
- Graham (7/5): Good -
- Allan (9/5): Putararu Overnight Stay - Motel was very cheap, on a main road, hence a little noisy if you are not used to traffic, but not excessive and the room was comfortable. Had all the necessary requirements to self cater including to electric elements for cooking and all other normal basic amenities. The room was a good size and had an outlook towards a grassed area.
. At the price Nil.
- Gwyn (7/5): Ok for overnight - Plenty of space and a comfortable bed. Plumbing was interesting but did work.
Quite noisy write next to the main road.
- Jeroen (5/5): Passable - Check in was easy and quick. This motel is on the main thoroughfare so it is easy to find.
Room was recently upgraded and freshly painted.
Easy car park access. The room was stuffy and smelled of smoking, as it is next to a main road it is noisy even with windows closed. Transit traffic continues at night, so if you look for being well rested this might not be your choice.
- Kevin (1/5): Worst accommodation i have ever stayed at in 50 years travelling around nz. Would not reccomend - The location was easy to find. The rooms smelled very musty and offensive. Fridge was old and rusty. Window catches were broken and either wouldnt open or wouldnt close.
Missing and faulty light bulbs and lights. Loose shower control and hot water took ages to run. My shower time was cold.
- Pushpanjali (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Michelle (5/5): Met our needs for one night - Was comfortable snd had what we needed Needed some maintenance
- Vanessa (7/5): Great for a quick stop over. - Wonderful staff! Close to everything i needed. Allowed pets, good price for what i needed. Comfortable beds.
The second room bathroom was lovely and modern. The first room we stayed in smelled damp and needed a major upgrade. The shower head sprayed everywhere. There was no soap.
Mould on windows in second room.
- Nikayla (2/5): We would not recommend staying here. - The lady covering reception was nice & easy to deal with . Leaking roof over the toilet in the bathroom . Musty , moldy smelling room . The room was old , minimal maintenance & extremely run down . We also discovered it's used for government housing so while the other tenants didn't cause any issues it can be a little disconcerting to have gang members staying in the same premise . We asked for a change of room and the reception lady happily agreed. The room she relocated us to (room 4 ) was fully renovated & new , this was the only room that had been renovated in the entire premise & obviously the one they have used for the online photos . We had friends with us staying in another room that had decided to leave given the state of there room so we gave them our upgrade and dealt with having a horrible room for the night . Would never stay there again .
