Guest Reviews
- YUSUKE (7/5): -
- Henrik (10/5): - A very nice place to stay while visiting Nozawa Onsen. The breakfast was very good and is definitely recommended to add.
- Liam (9/5): -
- Adrian (10/5): If you want to feel like you are in nature but still stay in the village. This place is perfect. - I’ve stayed in many places in Nozawa Onsen, but this is the most relaxing and remote location yet still in the village A slightly longer walk, but it was beautiful and peaceful in the evening
- Brian (9/5): Quiet, restful, comfortable, would come back. - Easy to access from the bus stop. The staff was very sweet and helpful, despite my lack of Japanese language we were able to figure everything out. Bedroom was a great size. View from the room was great. It was in the edge of town. Meaning like <10 min walk to town center/ski lifts. But really wasn’t terrible. Just slightly inconvenient.
- Chris (9/5): Highly recommended guesthouse near ski area - Lovely father/mother who own and run this small guesthouse. Rooms are spacious. Private Onsen in the basement. Ski storage. Good breakfast.
- Nina (10/5): - The hosts were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The free ski resort shuttle has a pickup spot right outside on the corner of the street so getting to the ski resort was easy. The drying room for ski gear was very convenient. It is a bit of a walk into the main part of town to get to the restaurants and onsens.
- Spencer (10/5): A great Nozawa Onsen adventure base camp. - Everyone there was so kind and welcoming. Grateful I got to meet them and stay with them. I would stay with them again in a heartbeat. It’s close enough to everything without being hard to get to. Nothing bad to say.
- Andy (10/5): Gorgeous place to stay with fantastic staff - Beds were actual beds and very comfy in big spacious rooms Staff were amazing throughout stay and very helpful with assisting me with shipping my board bag to tokyo at end of my stay went above and beyond to make sure everything was takin care off Its was all pretty great no real faults tho has a traditional style western toilet so no butt squirter or heated seat which I had come to love in japan
- Carlos (10/5): - I appreciated the proximity to the bus stop. The rooms were big, spacious, and clean, which I also liked. Additionally, it was within walking distance to the ski lifts.
- Madeleine (8/5): - Lovely hosts & delicious breakfast A bit of a walk into town
- Tait (10/5): -
- Mitchell (10/5): -
- Yichun (9/5): -
- Irene (10/5): Exceptional - -It’s a bit away from the village . But I enjoy the walk every night after dinner .
- Owners are very friendly and helpful. They greet me everyday when I go out and come back . Feels like home None
- Mcdonald (10/5): Exceptional - I loved this place, warm and attractive inside, and the owners were lovely. Very kind and sweet. Highly recommend. Great dinners too.
- Sandra (10/5): Highly recommend for solo travellers, family or with friends. Wonderful Japanese hospitality. - Our hosts, Mr Katsura Kubota and his wonderful mum were most welcoming. Any question we had, Mr Kubota would help us out. We enjoyed the traditional breakfasts and dinner made by his Mum - so many flavours in one meal. Our share room was very comfortable with a tatami sitting area and private bathroom. If you are a skier, it's walking distance from a chair lift, ski rental and has an excellent drying room. It was good to be a little away from the town centre as the restaurants and onsens weren't as busy. It's a short walk to town, so easy to enjoy that as well. Everything was excellent.
- Robert (9/5): Excellent - Breakfast and dinner were delicious.
- Dmitrii (10/5): Great stay, will come back again - Mr Katsura Kubota and his mum went far beyond our expectations. Every question was answered, every moment they are there to help: carrying luggage, walking with us to show where the bus stop, buses' timetables, anything we need in the room. And of course, Japanese homemade breakfast. Even when we ask for chilli sauce Mr Kubota brought us variety and next day put it on the table before we came to breakfast. All was very good. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Marina & Dmitrii Nothing whatsoever
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roydon (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly, clean, beautiful, short walk to town. Thank you for the stay!
- Anthony (10/5): Lovely stay and the owner was very friendly - Little but out of central but easy access to the bus station which gives you lift straight to the gondola
- Robert (10/5): Cute traditional villa with the best food around - Amazing stay in a traditional family run hotel. Our hosts were really fantastic. Breakfast and dinner were delicious.
- Ebony (10/5): We loved our stay at this Villa. The owners were so accomodating of check in time request and were kind enough to help u - We loved how welcoming this stay was. Owners were so lovely and thoughtful, and the room was decent size!
- Hubert (10/5): great experience - Kubota san and his mother were very helpful and attentive. It felt like I was staying at a relative's house. I liked everything
- Mario (10/5): Traditional japanese stay with great hosts - If you are looking for real traditional Japanese stay, this is place for you. Great breakfast made by the hosts are great start of the day, and hot water and tea is provided each day to warm you up. I have enjoyed every day of my stay there.
It might be at the end of the village, but first gondola is just few minutes of walk away, and I also enjoyed walking to village center in the evening and seeing beautiful nature along the way.
- Stacia (8/5): Very good - The staff was super friendly and helpful (even with my poor Japanese)!
- Eliot (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and had a good view from my bedroom
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The offered breakfast for Y1,000 was fantastic. Filling and a range of Japanese breakfast offerings. Location was good, with a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel location. Bus could take us into the city centre or up to the snow lifts but stops at 5pm, keep that in mind. Host was fantastic, always friendly and helpful service. N/A
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Owner was amazing and helpful!!
- Radu (7/5): Good -
- Gaya (8/5): Totally worth it! We liked it very much! - Very recommended: one feels like being home. The family that runs the lodge is very kind and facilitate anything you may need with a smile. The place has no luxuries but is really clean, nice and the breakfast they offer also very good (Japanese style). The rooms are warm, there is hot water at all times, towels, place for sky materials to dry your clothes etc. It's 50 m away from the bus station that connects you to the sky station in 5 minutes and with the village in 5 min also. In the way back at night you need to walk, but is less than 1 mile and is really nice to walk down to the lodge and enjoy the walk, which feels also very safe. I highly recommend it, I was with my two kids and we had a very good experience! The beds and futon extra bed were not the most comfortable I've ever beed, so this would be my main recommendation to improve in future.
- Ilana (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brandon (9/5): Superb -
- Isidora (9/5): Superb - Super nice stuff. Large room. All recommendations
- Mike (10/5): Excellent hotel with friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast and dinner and easy access to the ski area by free shuttle - Very clean and comfortable. 3 bed Room was excellent for myself and two 15 year olds. Good ski storage area and dry room downstairs. Also excellent onsen baths downstairs. Breakfasts (1000 yen) and dinners (2000 yen) were excellent with lots of food. Hotel is about 2km out of town but a free shuttle bus for the gondola stops 50 metres away on the corner. A fridge and microwave on second floor was useful. We bought food from the supermarket and had our own breakfasts and dinners most of the time in our room. Kubota and his mother were very helpful, friendly, nice people. I would highly recommend Villa Kubota. A little out of town (about 2km) Shuttle bus from town/gondola finishes at 5pm so if you want to stay in town for dinner it’s about a 20 minute walk away.
- Charlotte (10/5): Excellent, a welcoming homely stay. - The hosts were amazing. So accommodating and helped with all our questions prior to arrival. The food was fantastic, we really enjoyed the authentic japenese food. They have everything you need here for a comfortable but not crazy expensive ski trip. The location is easy access to the ski resort with a very good free shuttle bus right outside.
- Chuchu (10/5): Good place to experience Japanese lifestyle. - Japanese local house, super cozy feel like staying in grandparents’ home. The room is clean , warm, cozy and comfortable. It has sofa, tv, Japanese tea place, big windows with snowy views. The bathroom is small but clean with a cute bathtub. Also the villa provides affordable Japanese meals, you can reserve with Mr.Kubota. The shuttle bus is right corner and takes about 3 mins to nozawa ski resort, the bus to Shinkansen is about 290m, so it’s convenient to get there. You can wake up at the warm bed in the morning, open the window to enjoy snowfall with Japanese green tea. Then go to the dinner room to try your Japanese breakfast, at this time you can watch TV with the real time video of ski resorts. Then go to a whole day ski, back villa at 5 pm, take a shower and have a rest. Have dinner at 6 or 6.30, or eat outside. Will come here again and recommend friends. A little bit far from the downtown, takes about 15-20 minutes if you want to eat outside or try free springs. But it’s kinda romantic to walk along the quiet Japanese little village road under the stars or snowflakes. Quite enjoy the 15mins lonely time.
- Rob (9/5): Great value for money - The staff, whom I assume to be a mother / son team, were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a quiet area, but it is only a 20 min walk away to the central onsen area. Strangely there were no curtains in the room. The window had frosted glass, but it got bright very early.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (6/5): - Lovely Japanese couple owned. Great room size and has public onsen. Easy access to ski slope via bus stop near front door. Down sides were the age of amenities and distance from main town for shopping and nightlife i.e. buses stopped at 6pm so was a 30 min walk home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice. Would recommend to others if they are coming.
