- g (8/5): Good stay a few improvements would make it 5 star - The stay was very welcoming and the service was very kind and accommodating of us and our little dog. However, we had a huge family room and only a queen sized bed in it which didn’t really make sense. The windows were in need of a good clean outside and the bedspread had a rip in which although isn’t unclean kind of didn’t represent the hotel in the way the rest of it did. I’m aware it’s undergoing renovation so sure the rest of it will match soon. Its position is fab and easy to walk or drive around the Newquay / Cornwall area.

- jess (4/5): - Checked in fine. I just wanted a night away from my major house renovation to relax, before starting hospital treatment. No relaxing, TV didn’t work. Receptionist couldn’t get it to work and no manager or maintenance on-site. Hotel full so i couldn’t change rooms. SO I spent an hour and eventually got it working-this is NOT my job and NOT what i wanted to do on my one night of relaxation. Then, building site next door and power tools being used by 7.30am. My view? A yellow knife in a dirt ‘flower’ bed. Other than that, hotel clean etc but just too upset to not get to properly relax because the room attendant hadn’t done their job properly.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Unrealised potential, but needs updating! - We were looking forward to some stunning views but sadly our room on the 1st floor had a view into the courtyard. No possibility to fully open the WINDOWS or have a privacy without completely blocking the air. The rooms are in dyer need of air con as they were so stuffy (only 20C outside) and as the windows are chained you can barely open them. I was surprised to find out the room doesn’t have a FRIDGE. My bad, as it isn’t listed. No teabags in the room, only coffee and UHT milk NOISE! - room above seemed to consist of a heard of wildebeest that liked galavanting around at all hours. Floors are very thin and noisy and even a cup being put on the table in above floor is heard downstairs. A couple fighting above our heads until 1am and Sunday morning had people screaming in the outside pool. As much as we love birds, the constantly open windows meant Seagulls were noisy at all times, midnight, 2am, whenever! Sadly, as the BEDS were very comfortable!! For a hotel, sleep was very hard to come by. We read so much about great food in this hotel so decided to have a dinner. Pasta with mushrooms had more mushrooms than pasta. Children’s pizza was about 3” diameter, … can’t recommend. Breakfast ok PARKING - a bit tight squeeze, phew! £8/night not £5 as advertised! DOG FRIENDLY it was wonderful, thank you! STAFF - especially cleaning & breakfast staff and waiters, you were absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for being so lovely, always smiling and always very helpful ❤️

- Susan (10/5): - Great hotel! All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. There was plenty of breakfast food, full English or a continental option. You could have both and go back for more, self-service. The evening meals were excellent. Compliments to the chef. One, two or three courses at a reasonable fair price. Nicely presented, with quick service. Parking was £8 for 24 hours. The pool isn’t huge but it's okay. Extra towels can be collected from reception. The small gym was a bonus. It has a good selection of exercise machines and weighs. There was evening entertainment in the bar which started at 8.30 and finished at 10.30, (vocalist or entertainers) We read some of the negative reviews and some are really not fair or true. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Newquay. Well done to everyone at the Kilbirnie Hotel.

Close enough to the town centre that you could walk in and far enough to get a good nights sleep. Would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel.

- Pramila (8/5): - Looks like its Hotel is refurbished recently. Rooms are clean and Bathroom is clean too. No issues. Its very close to the beaches especially Lusty Glaze. Nice location with sea view if you get front rooms. Walkable to beaches and high street for restaurants. Only downside was hotel car parking is very tight and not easy to get easily to the car park at the rear as the entrance is slopy and other car blocking the entrance restricting the space to enter the car park. Also, Hotel dinner is ok - not exiciting. Breakfast is good but its same everyday. Not much choice on pastries/ no scramble eggs/ only fried eggs. Fruit was minimal. Highlight is the location of the hotel and rooms are clean.

- Gary (8/5): - Room was fine even with the building work next door which ceased bang on 17.00 as agreed. Tight parking and chargeable even though owned by the hotel ? They only have the old fashioned card swipe service and as all my cards we’re on my phone I had to pay cash for the parking and if I wanted food or drink it would have been the Same. But can’t fault the rooms or the location, would stay again but remember to take my cards with me.

- N (10/5): - The staff were amazing and very helpful. Even with the rain we managed to keep the children entertain with the pool and vast bar area where they run in circles. We got luck with parking but there seems to be parking available nearby. The Land train stop was right next to the hotel which takes you all the way to Fistral beach. The location is great with two beautiful beaches within 6min to 8 mins walk.

Check in staff very friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations, room and bed very comfortable, pool and gym looked very serviceable even though I didn’t use them. Luckily the food or coffee was never cold the 3 times we had the paid breakfast. Nice bar, indoor and outdoor pools.

We paid for parking but there was no spaces!! We were surprised to find out the lack of even one disabled space. When we asked about it they said that they were in process of addressing this issue. We enjoyed our stay, the sea views were lovely and would recommend to others. What lovely staff members!

- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had made two separate bookings, as we had decided to stay an extra day in Cornwall. I telephoned to ask if they could be joined together, and dealt with a very abrupt receptionist, who said, “no, you didn’t book with us so I can’t.” Really unhelpful as it meant we would need to move rooms. Thankfully on arrival, we were greeted by two really pleasant reception staff, who apologised for the poor communication, and managed to merge our room bookings for us. We also managed to find a space to park underneath the hotel. The spaces are super tight, but it’s very convenient. You will be charged £5 per day. The hotel itself, is also a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it looks very basic, but internally, it’s freshly decorated, with plush carpets and is extremely clean in all areas. There is a pool, but we didn’t have time to use this. There is also a bar area, but again, we didn’t use this area. On our first nights booking, our breakfast was included. They will provide soy as an alternative milk, or flora as an alternative butter if you ask. The rooms themselves are very clean and comfortable. Good quality linen and towels. A hairdryer is provided, as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cow milk sachets. The location is fabulous, as it’s about 20 minutes walk from the town, out of the noise and traffic. Would recommend a sea view for the sunsets. There is also a Tesco express next door.

- Andrew (8/5): Business trip to Newquay - The hotel is overlooks the sea. Very covid safe. Restaurant not open in the evening. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel, in a great location with really friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly with nearby field for morning/evening walks. Only criticism is the showers Utilise the hot/cold taps and can be a bit difficult to get A nice temperature.

- Steven (4/5): In need of upgrade - The parking is horrific, very very tight spaces and if you drive into the small underground car park and can't get a space then you have to reverse back out very carefully. The room is very small and very dated ,the bathroom is clean but when you turn on the shower you only get a trickle of water. On a positive note the bed was comfy.
- anonymous (6/5): - The staff were nice and helpful. Unfortunately the room as a whole was outdated and looked in need of a revamp, the carpet was old and looked worn out, there was way to cool down the room other than to have the windows open which let in more warm air than cool.
- Christine (6/5): - Well Located, on the seafront, just a short walk into town. The Hotel itself is tired and dated hotel in need of refurbishment. The staff were helpful, and given the current climate they did there best to ensure guidelines were followed.

- Jon (2/5): Avoid - Room cleanliness poor, rooms not fully checked between guests and staff not aware how to fix issues. Very noisy hotel with no effective climate control, just noticed not to leave windows open to avoid birds getting in. Food in hotel atrocious, three covers requested with peas, not beans, all served with beans, one omelette clearly had a cranefly embedded in it, staff tried to claim it was a piece of mushroom (the eyes and wings were clearly visible).
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Perfectly fine. The rooms are a bit tired and the breakfast was very average, but comfortable enough.
- Irina (8/5): - Great hotel and location! I stayed for 2 nights in a double room which even had a sea view. Staff are very friendly and helpful! The hotel is very clean and all the facillities are very good! It was so hard to find a hotel last minute that accepted me to travel together with my pet! The location of the hotel is very good and it is in good proximity of many beaches and some cafes. The room has all the facilities and the hotel swimming pool is very clean. The only little issue that the hotel has is the parking which is very tight and full so it might not always be easy to find a parking space straight away. I would come back to this hotel at any time as this is not such a big issue and I will recommand it to all my friends anf family.
- Gary (4/5): - Hotel amenities on ground floor very good, including pool. Hotel in an excellent location. Staff friendly and helpful, with the exception of not being helpful in providing my family with another room due to the shocking view. I was told that a triple room was not available at the front of the hotel, even though I was offered an upgrade for one at an additional cost just before I came to the hotel. Negatives, parking not great, had to park away from the hotel each day and hotel room dated and the view extremely poor over looking a derelict hotel, not what you expect when you are paying on average £153 Per night for a room. You do get frosted glass on the window though as compensation, to give you the feel of staying in a WC.
- Amarilla (2/5): Awful - Shabby old hotel, sea view via a dirty window, smelly room and very thin walls. As well as the road noise and people shouting on the street (even during the night) you can hear everything from the rooms next door. I would never stay at this place again even if it was free.
- Jeffrey (4/5): Old floors and doors - Staff is very friendly, but... My partner and I stayed for one night. The floors creak very loudly. The person staying in the room above us woke us up at 6am because they were pacing back and forth around their room. If the floors were less creaky, we probably wouldn't have noticed. All of the room's door slam shut loud as well, so every time a person enters or leaves their room, it it heard. Needless to say, we did not have a good night's rest that night.
- Nicki (8/5): little break - A lovely little hotel and breakfast was delicious, my only fault was room was very very tiny, bed very uncomfortable and not enough sockets in room (2 spare at dressing table) was unable to plug my cpap machine next to bed as no sockets. Take extension lead. Otherwise I would recommend
