Guest Reviews
- Sabrina (10/5): Traditional, amazing, cultural experience - It’s really difficult to find the right words to explain how amazing our experience was here. It wasn’t your average stay, it was a full hospitality experience. Staying with Deka and Sani was a cultural journey through Balanese culture, food and traditions.
The land where the stay was based was so beautiful and being able to wake up in nature like that was incredible.
The food was absolutely delicious, my travel buddy is vegetarian and Sani went above and beyond to make a great feast for us.
Everything was traditional. They have lovely friendly dogs also that make you feel at home. The treehouse itself was basic, clean and comfortable. Just what we needed.
We also had Dekas brother Mahdi as a driver for two days, he showed us parts of the island we would not have seen without him, with a very reasonable price. We saw local traditions, tried local fruits and foods along the way as well as him explaining local cultures and traditions along the journey.
We also had a massage on both nights we were there and the masseuse was incredible. The prices couldn’t be better!
This family made our stay in Bali something we will never forget.
Thank you so much for everything, you truly are amazing people. There was nothing bad here.
Niets
- Mun (8/5): Great host. Very caring and always ready to assist. Thank you Dekha - Great village setting. Very charming and rustic. 5 minutes walk to get local food. Located in the middle of the tropical forest, bound to have lots of mosquito after dark. Perhaps the host could provide mosquito coil so we could enjoy the nice garden in the evening
- Stefan (10/5): Perfect - Location /
- Antoine (10/5): Quiet and charming place in the nature hosted by a very nice couple - This place is a little paradise 😍 Sanny and Dekha are wonderful hosts, they did everything to make us feel comfortable during our family stay. The area is lovely. We strongly recommend! Thank you for making our stay so special. -
- Nicole (10/5): Come as a guest, leave as a friend. - This Home Stay was a wonderful slice of Balinese village life. Dekha and Sanny could not have been more kind or helpful. I came as a solo traveller and felt completely comfortable. The room is simple but comfortable and the wifi was excellent. Make sure you go on the waterfall trek and do the Lemukih slide, so much fun! A level of fitness is needed to climb back up the steps from the waterfalls. Beautiful food cooked by Sanny. The garden was lush and amazing. The Home Stay is in Sudage village so during the day you'll get to hear all the usual village sounds like scooters, roosters and music but the whole village is very quiet at night. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing place to be. Thank you both so much. I loved everything but the only thing I'd change would be to make a little even path in the bathroom out of the bigger flat rocks so that it's not so wobbly to walk on and easier to make a path to the sink and the toilet. Was not an issue though, just a small suggestion.
- Sayaka (10/5): “coworking space” in the jungle - I was looking for a place where I could stay while working in nature. The wifi is fast and stable, so zoom meetings are safe.
This homestay is so comfortable that I'm likely to stay for more than a month. The owner couple is very nice and will help you with your stay. The owner organizes many tours.
There are many waterfalls around, and you can drink spring water at homestay. The water is delicious and you can feel the energy of nature. There are several local restaurants in the village. There are no fashionable cafes or shops in the village, but I like the simple stay here.
- Sayaka (10/5): A wonderful experience awaits when you open your heart and dive in - The owner couple are very nice and kind. A jungle village homestay with modest rooms and beautiful large gardens. I felt the heartfelt hospitality of Balinese people. Here you can see the real Bali, which is different from the tourist spots. The wifi speed was fast and stable, so I was able to stay while working. It's like a 'coworking space in the jungle'. It cannot be accessed directly by car. You have to walk the path. so it's quiet.
- David (10/5): A place that will live on in our memories forever. - This is a beautifully restored location that gave us a sense of what the real Bali is like. it is away from the noise of the south which for us, was a complete blessing. The hosts Dekha and Sanny were the most hospitable people. They treated us like family and welcomed us into their home. They showed us around from the beginning to the end of our stay. by the end we had seen so much which obviously included waterfalls, markets and temples but also, we learnt some Balinese Sanscript, how to cook a traditional Balinese meal, had massages, and the most amazing walk up into the local countryside where we slid down river water chutes, leapt into rivers, walked through paddy fields and met local people.
From breakfast to dinner, we ate traditional Balinese food, prepared by Sanny which was just gorgeous. We even had a cooking lesson!
I cannot say enough about how welcome we felt.
To add to this, Dekha’s brother Maddy has continued to drive us around after leaving the homestead.
They are a lovely family and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay with them. Nothing
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - staying with Dekha and Sanny at ESA de Kubu is so speciel - and such a different and authentic way to explore the north of Bali. Amazing waterfalls, rainforest, authentic villages and nice people. We felt welcome and found friends in Dekha and Sanny. Do the trekking - waterslide, ricefields, waterfalls etc. and enjoy the village, the garden and no tourists. and let Dekha arrange transport and other stuff to do - his brother is just as haepfull and wonderfull:-)
- Frank (8/5): I can recommend ESA di Kubu for everyone who wants an authentic homestay, with lovely & caring people. If you need a - Dekha & Sanni are very nice & caring people. It’s a very nice place to stay, surrounded by nature. The room is simple with little furniture. You may not get a driver (Gojek etc.) who picks you up, because it’s far out. But the owners can help
you with that!
- Alaur (10/5): We loved it! - By far our best experience in Bali! We feel nourished physically and emotionally by our stay there. As soon as we arrived and Dekha met us on his scooter at the end of the lane we felt so welcomed by his genuine warmth and smile, that continued throughout our stay from both him and Suny. The homestay is quiet, the nature stunning and it feels like paradise after the busy south. The food Suny made for us was exceptional - every meal was freshly made with ingredients picked from the garden - the fruit from the trees was so delicious too. Worth coming here even just for the food 😉 but also Dekha took us on a one day tour we will always remember - a tour to hike to the magical waterfalls (the hidden one was the best for us!) whilst also meeting local people, visiting a farm, learning about Lontar and seeing stunning views. And whilst we were in awe of our surroundings he also took great photos for us! The natural rock formed water slide was fun too ☺️
We were touched how deeply Dekha cares about the environment and his village.
We loved our stay, it’s true what they say, you arrive as strangers and leave as friends!
We highly highly recommend this stay, you will not regret it! ☺️ Nothing! ☺️
- Flo (8/5): Bien - Jolie jardin, bonne emplacement pour aller a sekumpul !
- Eliane (8/5): Séjour relax - Après avoir eu quelques difficultrs à trouver l'endroit. Le sejour sest bien passé
