Very peaceful environment right in the heart of the Peak District. 5 minute walk from the center of Matlock. The Sheriff Lodge is well mantained with love Having the basement room is comfy but the rooms at top floor have much more light.

• Alex (10/5): Home from home comfort in Matlock - Sheriff Lodge was easy to locate, very clean and welcoming with ample parking. The owner Ziz was so friendly and helpful. Ahead of attendance she arranged for a birthday balloon for the morning we checked out as it was a special birthday. She gave us some tips about the Christmas event at Chatsworth we were attending and just made our short stay so comfortable. I would definitely recommend Sheriff Lodge and stay here again when we return to the area. We stayed in The Mousehole room and it was spacious enough for us with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was lovely and homemade. If felt like a home from home experience. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

The host was really accommodating and friendly, she recommended us a really scenic walk to Matlock- Bath that we really enjoyed. The breakfast was exceptional, with a choice of cereal, yogurt, fruit, granola and hot breakfasts. The room was very spacious and clean.

The walk back up the hill is something to consider. Ziz was very informative and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights stay and would highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in Matlock 😀 Nothing, it was perfect 👌

Ziz was the perfect host, what a lovely place the Sheriff Lodge is, close to town and 5 mins from a lovely nearby pub for an evening meal. The breakfast was amazing with so much choice, the homemade granola topped with fruit was the best! Overall a wonderful place to stay and we will return in the summer. Although we didn't use it, there was a lovely outside area too. Sorry, but we loved everything, if I had to put something I would suggest that the outside porch was swept regularly as everything else was spotless. Although this may already be done but with so many trees nearby, I can imagine this is a thankless task.

Located near the top of a steep hill but with a bus stop near the lodge. Quite central only 5 minute walk to town centre. Everything as you would like it to be. Comfortable beds in a spacious room. Easy parking.

From the delightful building & generous, well equipped room, to the enormous bed & the quality linens & feather pillows, things couldn’t be any better. Breakfast was wonderful; there was plenty, all good quality and extremely tasty. (The eggs Benedict was awesome, wonderful chunky marmalade on excellent toast with proper coffee rounded it off nicely.) The owner was charming & as sociable as we desired. Only downside was that because we arrived by train, we walked up the hill to Sheriff’s lodge & swore “never again”! After that we got taxis instead, as the hill is only for the fit and able.

Our room was tastefully furnished, everything looked fresh and clean, and there were lots of thoughtful little extras from the sweets on the side to a box in the wardrobe filled with “things you might have forgotten.” The towels were thick and fluffy, and the pillows and mattress incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was very good - quality fresh produce, all well cooked and nicely presented. The property is in a very good location just a short walk from the town centre, station, park and shops. No complaints at all

Would happily return. being picky - perhaps decaf tea/coffee option in the bedroom but there were several teas to choose from & even a coffee bag.

Ziz couldn't have done more to help, both before and during the stay, with really helpful recommendations about where to eat/go generally. Room was lovely and spacious with a big, comfy bed. Breakfast was also delicious, thanks! Location is great for walking into Matlock, and it's easy to get to by car (less than w10 minute walk from the train station if coming that way).

• Stephen (9/5): Well priced for quality of service, accommodation and breakfast - We were offered a multi choice breakfast, everything we had yoghurt and very fresh fruits followed by scrambled eggs and smoked salmon excellent and generous. Room was fine not large but more than adequate Furnishings fresh and tasteful. Shower room clean and well maintained, towels lovely and fluffy. II would have preferred a slightly softer pillow but not enough to complain.
• Jemma (10/5): The perfect cosy B&B to come home to after exploring the peak district! - Sheriff Lodge is such a lovely property, located in the picturesque town of Matlock. Our room was so cosy with a big comfortable bed and very sweet decor. The towels and sheets felt very expensive and the room was very warm when getting up in the morning and going to bed so we felt very looked-after. Ziz could not do enough to help us and accommodated our early check-in. She also provided local recommendations and the most wonderful breakfast!!! I saw it in a lot of the other reviews and the breakfast is just as good as everyone says, you have to try it.

• Lynda (10/5): Truly spoilt!! - This is the best place we have stayed in Matlock, and we have been many times. The whole place exudes elegance and quality. The owner has restored the building and the rooms, very sympathetically to how it would have been in its original existence as a Gentleman's home. Owner Ziz, has a discount scheme going with some lovely restaurants in the area. Which was really beneficial to us, as these are the places we love to eat in Matlock!! This was our first visit to this hotel, but definitely NOT the last!! It is one of the few places in Matlock that has on site parking available, which is a premium in this busy town. The only thing I didn't like, was the fact we had to go home!! We could have stayed for much longer, work permitting!!

• Ros (10/5): Exceptional - Ziz was an amazing host, her breakfasts were amazing and delicious, her homemade jams, marmalade and bread were to die for. Our stay was like staying in a 5 star hotel. We would definitely recommend Sheriff Lodge as somewhere to stay. It's located near to so many attractions including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the town of Bakewell to name a few.
