I’ve never seen such a user friendly kitchen in a hostel with so many fantastic appliances to use. Means you can really eat well. Staff very helpful. Can’t fault this hostel!! That I couldn’t stay longer

• delphine (7/5): Pratique et pas cher - Etablissement pratique : il y a pas mal de douches; de toilettes, même si les dortoirs sont grands, on ne fait pas la queue pour utiliser les espaces communs. L’ambiance est détendue et on discute facilement avec ses voisines de dorm. L’auberge est plutôt facile d’accès et si elle est un peu dans son jus c’est bien entretenu La cuisine est un peu petite par rapport au nombre de voyageurs, les dortoirs ne sont pas cosy avec des chambres aveugles et des lits qui s’alignent. Pour les lits du dessus, l’échelle en barreaux fait mal aux pieds.
• Maite (9/5): - - great common room with shared kitchen: good for interacting with/ getting to know other people; friendly and lively atmosphere - clean & comfortable beds; own locker for valuables - clean toilets & showers - everyone cleaned up after themselves, as part of the kitchen rules (clean before you eat) - well equipped: many & diverse kitchen tools; hairdryer available for everyone - good location - good WiFi, TV available - noisy beds, they creak a bit + were a bit wobbly: you could feel if the person sleeping over/under you moves a lot - kitchen could be slightly cleaner, but was fine - missing window in the dorm: no daylight - could be more space/ shelves for your things i.e. clothes - warm in the dorms, air could have been fresher
• Jenny (7/5): - Nice basic hostel, clean, good location, walking distance from shops and restaurants. CBD a bir further away but still walkable. The common areas were a bit small. Some guests were noisy in the evenings after quiet time.
• Karen (10/5): とっても綺麗 - ワーホリで2週間ちょい滞在しました！他に安いアコモデーションはあったけど、安すぎるとトコジラミがいる不安があったのでここにしました。ドライヤーもあるし確か10ドルくらいでタオルも借りられます。(後から返金されます)洗濯機と乾燥機もそれぞれ4ドルくらいでした。オークランドでいろいろフラットも探しましたが、正直ここで1年過ごすのもアリだなと思いましたし実際そういう方もいました。ここで過ごしている方は民度高いなと思いました！ 特にないです

• Richard (6/5): - Well organised but with signs everywhere as I didnt see any staff in my 3 nights..(ok..i get up and go out early and come back in the evening im not in nz to lay in bed)..rooms cramped but ok if lazy people keep their space tidy.Good fire escape signs and lights ..much need with so many in such a small hostel.Top bunk bed wobble if..like mine..the selfish person underneath on his i pad at 2am..toilets a long walk from the room i was in.. Lots of people in small hostel..some long termers which is always a minus..( you say hi and they ignore you because they are cool man !)..long walk up hill from bus and train station..no large supermarket nearby..No staff most of the time ie early morning and in the evening..i found my own room nearer to city for similar price.

• Orane (8/5): - Very good stay for very cheap. The staff is very nice and helpful. I had missed my booking and was able to extend. They also helped with any question I had. The common room is comfortable and the kitchen well furnished. In terms of safety, it is also good. There is a female dormitory option and the locked safe available for each guest is spacious. The dormitory seems to be furnished to the minimum. In the shower rooms, there is little space to put up one's clothes (hangers would be nice). Also for the room: no curtain at all. So if someone wakes up early and switch on the light, and you are in the upper bed like me, you get the full light on your face. Adding curtains or even a tiny desk light for each bed would very useful. One other thing that would be nice is to change is rules about shoes' use inside: shoes are allowed even in shower rooms, which is quite unhygienic. To ban shoes usage at the toilet and shower room's entrance so everyone use slippers inside would be great. Otherwise, great stay!

• Manon (9/5): - Il est très bien équipé, la literie est confortable avec du calme présent dans les dortoirs (génial pour ce reposer) et la salle commune est agréable. Les salles d’eau sont grande et on a l’embarras du choix tellement il y en a (mais c’est génial justement). Juste le ménage dans les salles non peut-être pas l’air d’être effectué très régulièrement, un petit coup en plus ne serait pas de trop..! Sinon pour les backpackers tout est présent (ordinateur, possibilité d’imprimer, adresse, flyers.. à disposition) vraiment vraiment chouette ! Le fait qu’il n’y est pas de rideau entre les lits (manque d’intimité)

• SOJUNG (10/5): Perfect people - Everything was perfect, and the people I met here were absolutely wonderful. What I especially liked was that the place wasn’t too crowded or chaotic. The manager was especially very kind, and I never had to worry about theft. The most important part is that the place was very clean. The cleaning and laundry for the bedding were excellent, and there was absolutely no need to worry about bed bugs. The accommodation was warm and cozy, and I learned from talking with other guests that the return rate is quite high. It was truly a great experience, and I would love to come back again. Little bit far from the middle of the city

• Mclean (7/5): Newton Lodge provides the basic amenities with no frills for people on a budget. Friendly and helpful staff, clean facil - Property is fine, feels like part of a parking garage. Building is not especially warm, welcoming or aesthetically pleasing and private rooms are very basic, but you get what you pay for.

• Caro_arica (8/5): Comfortable place for accommodation in transit - The tranquility of the place and the respect for quiet hours, even though the hostel isn't large and many people were staying there. The bed was comfortable and you have the right to a locker, the bathrooms and showers were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and tidiness habits of some guests mean that the small kitchen area doesn't stay clean for long, and the bedroom remains untidy.

• Vitalii (7/5): Good - The hostel has generally good quality accommodation at an affordable price. The kitchen is conveniently equipped, although sometimes it is difficult to find a free place. In general, the hostel is suitable for a short budget stay, but it is important to be prepared for these nuances. The main disadvantage is the lack of windows in the rooms, which causes problems with ventilation. Unfortunately, not all guests follow the rules of hygiene, which leads to an unpleasant smell.

Felt so comfortable there and as it’s on the smaller side of hostels it was really social and everyone knew everyone after a short while! In a very very slightly dodgy place, I wouldn’t go out at night on my own and got threatened one morning right outside but that’s not a fault of the hostel itself !

It was not messy or anything, most of the time, and the cleaner came in many times a day. This was great! Small hostel, so it is easy to meet new people, feel safe and it makes it probably easy not to get messy. It was also not too too hot in the rooms most of the times and the personnel asked us whether they needed to increase the AC for us, which was great! Apparently some rooms didn't have windows. I luckily did, but I'm not sure we could even op them. Fresh air would be nice! In the mornings they would open all rooms at the same time and leave the doors open for hours. If you have valuable things, don't leave them around! Lockers were a bit on the small side for you to add your valuable items.

Walking distance to the harbour was about 20 minutes and the bus station was up the street sadly no curtains on the bed which means less privacy. for me in a woman bedroom totally fine tho
