- Julia (7/5): Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings - Gorgeous pub and accommodation. Food was perfect and the outside seating area was a lovely addition- luckily we had a sunny evening so could enjoy it! Only let down was the pillows were very flat and I had to use a cushion to put underneath. In the bathroom there were all the fittings for a blind but no blind! Also it would have been nice to have some instant coffee as an alternative to the cafetière - i find it too strong- but that’s just my preference!

Dinner was delicious in the evening & breakfast too. Very relaxing & good value for money.liked the 10.30am check out too. Nothing really!..it was a relaxed atmosphere..staff were busy..but it all flowed nicely.

The staff are very warm,welcoming and efficient. - lovely, food was served in a proper garden room/ conservatory.. menu offered plenty of choice and quality was excellent. A cut above many other establishments. I chose smoked haddock & poached egg with chive sauce which I have never been offered before!! Personally, nothing but due to the age of the building the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and not easy to negotiate.

No sugar and salt free meusli. I was able to have a bowl of granola. Too much sugar and dried fruit. As above. Carpet needed cleaning. Perhaps a washable floor would be more suitable.

We really loved the outdoor space/terrace, very sociable! The shower in our room was on the small side but it really wasn’t a big issue, the bathroom and bedroom (Stable) was a gorgeous space with everything you need and a lovely comfortable bed.

- Jill (10/5): Lovely dog friendly hotel in beautiful Norfolk - Lovely boutique style hotel. We stayed in the Warren dog friendly room with large wet room with safety rails which was a nice surprise as I needed a walk in shower due to mobility issues. Nice enclosed patio at the back for our dog who was very happy with all the attention from the staff at breakfast especially the sausages. Fan in room very useful as room got very hot and couldnt leave door to patio open due to flies which is no fault of the hotel. Nice touch of welcome G & T and homemade cookies. Lovely outside bar area with comfy seating and large parasols for shade. The only thing I could fault was the very limited menu for dinner, only 4/5 main meal options and 4 desserts. What we did have was good but would of liked more options. Breakfast however was anazing, loved the whisky porridge and the cooked Norfolk breakfast.
- Jackie (5/5): Disappointing, dirty and poor standard for the inflated price. - Location and the look of the property Cottage was dirty, not equipped for the 4 guests staying, 3 mugs, 3 plates, 2 bath towels. Coffee/tea refill station in reception never replenished, poor restaurant service in the evening. Items on restaurant bill that weren’t delivered to the table. Tried to charge more than the quoted booking.com price which was already high due to the heritage live concerts. Fed back to stand in manager as manager off sick and never heard a thing after waiting 10 days despite being promised a call back. Slapdash and disappointing for the hugely inflated price charged.
- Emma (8/5): A lovely little getaway, but lots of money was spent! - The property is decorated really nicely with lovely bath products and robes which is a nice touch. The decor wasn’t perfect, big scuffs on the walls and the room was very small compared to the other North Norfolk pubs/hotels we have stayed in.
- Maria (7/5): Okay - Nice touch with the welcome cookies and complimentary g&t at the bar. Big beer garden with a few different areas to relax. Decent dinner and small (if not ordering the full English) but tasty breakfast. Helpful staff at the bar, restaurant and reception. The room (loft) was small with not much storage. Small windows and got hot at night. Already addressed at check out - the room was quite dirty - cobwebs, sand in the bath(??), stained bedspread. It wasn’t the charming stay I expected from a place recommended by the Sunday Times.
- Penny (7/5): Disappointed - The location is very nice , staff pleasant and rooms are clean . We had previously stayed at The Gin Trap in November 2024, and had the most amazing experience which promoted us to visit again . We arrived on Thursday 21st August 2025 and immediately knew things were not the same . The checking in process which was previously in main reception outside was now in the bar area , and did not seem so personal . The room we had was outside from the main pub which looked lovely but was very small . We booked for dinner on all 3 nights of our stay but where very disappointed with the menu choice , after talking to the staff it appears that they had had a change of owner and a corporate company called “ Chestnut” had taken over . This was not for the better .!!

- Tania (9/5): Love The Gin Trap and will definately be back! - 2nd time staying in this beautiful pub in a lovely & convenient location and very dog friendly.Our cottage was gorgeous with everything we needed. The breakfast and food menu is good and delicious. We were notified that a Gin Festival was taking place on Saturday which we was happy with however, the band in the garden played till about 11pm and was extremely loud, too loud for chatting and we had to locate to the front of the pub to enjoy drinks and a chat. So would likely avoid the Gin Festival next time.

Would definitely stay again. - The location of the Gin Trap are second to none, just so beautiful, quiet and tranquil. The king bed was 2 singles pushed together and the mattress was very uncomfortable.

The room was very nice, cosy but with everything we needed. Before 830 nowhere else to go before breakfast and no use of any other wc before 830, not the end of the world though.

- Lynne (10/5): Fantastic Stay - From the moment we checked in to the moment we left everything was lovely. Amazing staff. All very friendly and very helpful. Bedroom was lovely and we had a little outside area at the back with a table & chairs which was really nice and backed onto a field so it was very peaceful. Bedroom was nice & clean. We had also been left 2 delicious cookies and 2 vouchers for a couple of free G & T,s which was a lovely touch. The inn is Lovely inside and has an amazing outside area too. Great location and the village is very pretty. Breakfast was very nice and you could have anything off of the menu. The Norfolk marmalade porridge is highly recommended. It was delicious. We also ate here 1 night and the food was very good. The only thing I will say is that there is not a lot on the menu and there was only one vegetarian option which was a bit disappointing. I think that there should defiantly be more vegetarian and even vegan dishes. I also think that it would be great to have a mini fridge in the rooms for the milk supplied for the drinks as you had to collect milk from a fridge in a room near the front of the property. It wasnt a problem but I just think having a small fridge in the room would be better. We had a really lovely time and would defiantly return. - Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Our whole stay at The Gin Trap was lovely. The room was small but great with a little outside seating area, which was lovely. A fan had also been provided in the room, which was great as it was 30°outside! We had a fabulous Sunday roast dinner at the pub and enjoyed drinks in the lovely garden. We also had a full English breakfast, which was delicious and so well presented. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

- Vandana (6/5): - Not quite the experience we expected based on a recent glowing write up in The Times which informed my decision to book 2 night stay for my husband’s birthday. Very limited restaurant menu - only 1 vegetarian main option. Husband had pie that was recommended- small portion, disproportionately served compared to the size of mash & cabbage. I Requested a side salad to add to my starter as didn’t want the only vegetarian menu on offer. This was poor in terms of lots of lettuce leaves, 3 tomatoes & a few shavings of radishes- disappointing Food offer not good value. Staff friendly but made us aware they are in transitional phase with recent takeover plans of the business, they are awaiting a chef, lots of staff have left etc. Doesn’t fill you with confidence. Our room was nice but a very small bathroom, shower needed a deep clean. Housekeeping did not leave us clean towels, despite clearly visible our towels had been used & were damp! Had to keep asking for clean cafeterire to be replaced & milk to make coffee & tea as no fridge in room. Fire alarm went off at 10pm - false alarm then fire service arrived. Told by staff they have faulty system & thus had occurred several times recently! They have a nice wood burner which we sat in chairs in front of, but this was not lit, instead had a fan heater next to it to keep us warm, not sure if they don’t bother in the week & only lit at weekends? Seemed odd & a ’can’t be bothered’ approach Would not rush back- should have been better

- Rafael (10/5): - Had a wonderful three-night stay at The Gin Trap Inn during May 2025. We stayed in The Stables room with our young dog - it was her first trip away so she was a bit excited and nervous, which she demonstrated by barking more than she should ! The hotel staff were wonderful, dealing with her politely and lessening our embarrassment. Our room was super, with both a shower and a bath, lots of little extras like some cakes in our room on arrival and, despite being on the courtyard of the Inn, was surprisingly quiet. There was even a fridge downstairs - handy for storing dog food. The Inn's location is handy for the beach (drive there) and is a short walk from a village store and garden nursery - both worth a visit in themselves. Parking is limited - but there is an area at the back for residents which is quite tight. The food at the Inn was first class, you could taste the quality in the ingredients. We had both the breakfast (included) and evening meals and can thoroughly recommend both. We will definitely return as soon as we can. The only issue we had was a confusion over payment when we checked out. Having booked via Expedia I contacted them and the issue was soon resolved between them with a full refund issued to me. Again can't recommend the Gin Trap Inn highly enough.

Worst room I have ever stayed in anywhere either UK or abroad No wardrobe no hangers no long mirror . No towel hooks we have visited the gin trap several times but will never stay there again . My advice to future guests refuse the hideout room .
