Guest Reviews

- Min Han (10/5): -
- RAINIERO (10/5): Increible! - Un lugar espectacular. Unico y magico. Bonito y con excelente ubicación. A un precio razonable. Realmente nos encantó. Si pudiera regresaría. Sin comentarios. Todo muy bien.
- Naraporn (10/5): Excellent house - Beautiful traditional Korean house with wonderful view, esp. Podkod in front of the house. Location is great, very close to attraction places. Cleanliness and comfy stay. Fast response from the host. Overall is great, highly recommend.

- Chiara (10/5): Ottimo! - L'alloggio è una casa tradizionale coreana, molto ben tenuta e in un quartiere molto bello e tranquillo. La proprietaria è stata estremamente gentile e disponibile con noi.
Facilmente raggiungibile con mezzi (bus o uber).
- Samuel (10/5): Stay with general kim, hero of the imjin wars - Unique is an overused word these days, but this is it. It’s way out in the country which means you need a car (or walk an hour to town, or take public transport). But it such a treasure of thoughtfully restored architecture. We stayed four days in January during a cold snap, -5 degrees Celsius. But with the space heaters the central room was cosy and the underfloor heating in the side rooms was all we needed at night (although we did get three mattresses each to sleep on!). The local neighborhood is wonderful to walk around, better I’d say than some of the clumsily restored Silla stuff in town. The concessions to winterization and protecting the wood — bubble wrap and plastic flooring — were unattractive, although I get why they are needed.

- Nethe (10/5): Rejuvenating and relaxing stay. - Everything! A little way out of Gyeongju to make the peaceful atmosphere of the house all the more effective. The authenticity of the house and surroundings.
- Suat (8/5): Overall pleasant experience in a stay in Gyeongju. Love the nature and peaceful surroundings. I was travelling with my p - The nature surrounding the property and friendly people. The aircon in the room on the right was dirty and spit out black dust when we switch it on. We needed to clean the aircon filters. The property is smaller than it looks on the picture.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful experience to stay. Love to go back again. ..
- Mirella (10/5): So, so beautiful - It’s very, very beautiful. The landscape surrounding the house is astonishing. The hanok is very traditional but very confortable at the same time. We recommend it strongly. It’s a little far away from the downtown, and at night the buses are not so frequent.
- Chelsea (10/5): This hanok was so beautiful and a wonderful traditional experience for me and my family. - The property was easy to find and the parking space was ample! The view was so beautiful and the drive to town was about 8 minutes. The house itself was so lovely and had everything you need for a short stay. I wouldn’t change anything, it was even better than expected for me!
- Rudi (10/5): Beautiful house! - The house is beautiful, and in the middle of a magnificent, quiet and typical place. It is far from everywhere, and the best there is to have a car.
The beds are on the floor, it's part of the adventure, but for some people it is quite uncomfortable.
- Kay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful and scenic location close to attractions, shopping, and dining. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, so we didn't have to pack many extras in our luggage.
- Masson (9/5): Superb - The place is great and of historical value ! It's not that I did not like, but renting a car made the place much better that if we'd had to call taxi
- Wojciech (10/5): It was an amazing experience and also a comfortable stay. - Amazing location! Traditional Korean house but it had all the amenities that you might need. All the neighbors were very friendly and we felt very welcomed. Location was great as it was close to the city but still felt nicely secluded and quiet. Strongly recommend! Nothing, we had no issues at all.
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful Unique Stay in Beautiful Hanok - One of the most memorable places I have ever stayed. Truly special and something my family and I will never forget. The site manager came each day to light the fires which are under the bedrooms, keeping them warm each day and during the night. She was lovely. The property is gorgeous and a complete photo op in its own right. There are many small shrines etc. in the surrounding area which you will have to yourself. Downsides I have seen in other reviews are the outdoor bathroom and difficulties in getting a taxi. The property has now added an indoor bathroom with a nice shower and taxis are easily acquirable with Kakao Taxi App which is a must for all of Korea. In all a marvelously unique place to stay that you won't forget! Sleeping on the floor on futons was very comfortable. Harder, however, was sitting on the floor to eat at the low table. I feel the place could provide a few chairs just to give the option. I had been traveling with small children for 2 weeks at that point so my back / joints probably weren't in the best shape to begin with!
- Jasmin (6/5): Pleasant - The hanok building is very beautiful and it was nice having the property to yourself. The place was warm thanks to the traditional floor heating even during the winter. This is going to be very long but: the communication with the host was VERY difficult. When we arrived, I had not received any instructions on how to get into the property through any channels. The gate and the door was seemingly closed with padlocks that were actually open. As we couldn't find anyone at the property we let ourselves in and found no instructions to anything (e.g. no idea how to connect to the wifi, if it was okay to throw toilet paper to the toilet itself or to the bin etc.). Through our entire stay, the host wasn't in any contact with us - they sent the "introductory" message the next morning of our arrival, where they asked us to let them know our time of arrival etc. Still no instructions to anything. It was mentioned two times in the message that the contact had to be done non-face to face (they really didn't want to meet the people staying at their property lol). Fortunately we had one in our group who is fluent in Korean and could call the host as we needed another set of futon and blankets after texting her via kakaotalk (which shouldn't be the official communication channel but the host couldn't be reached through booking.com) and getting a wrong password for the padlock that was used to close the closet door the beddings were in (everything in the house was closed with padlocks - mind you anyone could have entered the house as we never got to know the password numbers for the outdoor padlock so we couldn't lock the door. Fortunately this was very countrysideish so we were confident enough no outsider would enter the house). The communication was made super difficult even for someone who knows Korean so I can't imagine how difficult it's for people who don't know any Korean. Also, as it's not mentioned in the description text - there is also an inside bathroom that seems to be fairly newly built. We also found this place by accident. In short, I can't really recommend this place to...
- Tomric (10/5): Beautiful Hanok in the countryside - Beautiful Hanok which was a privilege to call home for the few days we were in Gyeongju.
Wonderful hosts who picked us up at the station and bought us coffee and delicious biscuits on the first day.
Amazing countryside, full of life, greenery, frogs!! and the noise of cicadas. Loved it!
Thank you to the man who was at the premises the day we left, who tried to arrange a taxi, and when that failed, helped take our bags to the bus stop for us. Futons were a bit hard, but we knew this going in, so can't really grumble.
Taxis were a bit hit and miss even using a combination of Kakao Taxi and Uber, so we'd advise hiring a car for maximum convenience. Bus is a 10 minute walk away but not regular. Could still be an option though, if you're better organised than we are!
- Rehani (8/5): Great if you are looking for authentic experience but takes some getting used to - It was a traditional house so we got to experience that aspect. Bedding took a bit of getting used to.
- Maria (9/5): Superb - The location and history of this property was really amazing. I knew going in that it was rustic and that the bathrooms were outside as well as the kitchen, so that is something to be aware of. We did not have a car, so I had read all reviews to see if it would be ok. It worked out fine - kakao taxi did not work for us but uber did. It was the only way we could call a taxi in Gyeongju surprisingly. The entrance to the national park as well as lots of sites were closely if you are someone who goes for long walks or a run you can explore a lot of interesting historical sites. Taxis were 4,000-5,000 won to and from town, so it was not expensive, just took some foresight to get them from the place to town. in town we just flagged a taxi - not a big deal. I liked being outside of the town because the real feature of Gyeongju is the living museum aspect of the area and our friends who stayed in the town only ventured out because we were on the outskirts. The hikes in the national park are beautiful and there is a good coffee shop at the entrance - all walkable if you don't mind being active. The owner was very good with communication. I was glad I printed out the address for wolamjae in Korean so you can just show a cab driver the address before the trip -it came in handy. We knew that getting to town would be a challenge, it worked out because of uber. The outdoor bathroom shower and kitchen had everything you need - they are simply detached. Not a problem if weather isn't too extreme. We had warm clear weather so it was fine for us. Bedrolls on the floor and a rice pillow set out for each person was expected - it's not luxurious. The unique setting and beauty was worth the small rustic "inconveniences" in my opinion. One of a kind experience.
- Jyrki (8/5): Very good - nice old traditional house like we wanted, out of the city mosquitos during the night
- Erik (7/5): Very authentic Hanok House. - Very authentic Hanok House with a private courtyard.
Perfectly located next to a hiking trail into the national park. The traditional heating system gave a lasting smokey air inside.
Cleanliness was a bit superficial.
Futons were very 'futon'.
- Etienne (9/5): Traditional stay for an authentic experience - Lovely, traditional stay that we enjoyed thoroughly. Availability of laundry facilities was a major plus.
- Cjwg (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous setting. Out of town a bit, so have to taxi if you're not driving, but it's affordable. Quiet and quaint and such a beautiful experience.
- Ali (8/5): Aesthetic and serene! - We had the whole house to ourselves. The peace and quiet in that house was something I haven't experienced in Korea.
The view from the porch was stunning. I recommend watching the sunset from there.
The owner was very lovely and accommodating!
A very good experience. It was a bit far from everything, but I guess you can't really have the peace and quiet if it was near city centre so that didn't bother us too much. Plus, the taxi to city centre was only 4,000 won.
