Guest Reviews
- Lindsay (9/5): We had a great stay with a beautiful view of the lake. - The view was spectacular, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was really designed well. Everything was great.
Vielen Dank

- Sophie (2/5): Disappointing and will tell all my friends and family not to try this hotel. - Nothing much , maybe the cleaniness is ok. The food quality was under the standard.
The room design is not very practical.
- Franz (10/5): - The view was spectacular. The crew are helpful and friendly. Location is very secluded, it's hard to find public transport. But the hotel provides free shuttle bus which brings you to the nearny onsen town and the JR Toya station. Overall, still a very good experience.

- Karen (9/5): - Excellent boutique hotel offering wonderful views over Lake Toya. Loved the outdoor bath on the balcony. Large, spacious rooms. There appears to be more restaurants within the hotel that would be open during the high season. The food available was of excellent quality & presentation but just limited at this time of year.
- Peichun (10/5): -
- Rod (9/5): A beautiful hotel in a magical location. - Great range of food for breakfast and plenty of options for all dietary needs. Our meals were delayed for a long wait on one of the evenings.

- perq jon (10/5): Amazing Lake Toya experience - The rooms and views were spectacular It’s on the north part of the lake and hence not as easy to get to as the popular parts
- Damo (10/5): Best stay I had in Japan - This is a sensational place to stay. Don’t be Fooled by the outside, inside it has beautiful decor. Rooms are gorgeous traditional style. The restaurant food was delicious. The staff are wonderful. Nothing

- CHING HUI (10/5): -

- Tania (10/5): - The views from the villa are phenomenal! The space is clean and spacious, and absolutely warming in the cold winter. The public onsen has the most beautiful, magical views I've ever seen. An extra star for it being tattoo friendly. The breakfast buffet was so yummy too, and it had plenty of vegetarian options. We stayed in villa 3, a group of 5 of us, it was perfect!
- CHING HUI (10/5): -
- CHING HUI (9/5): -

- Patra (8/5): Very great memorable experience - The view, the design, the cleanliness, and the staffs The water in the shower, the temperature was not very stable.
- Yueh chia (6/5): -

- Holi (7/5): -
- Gwen (7/5): We had a pleasant stay but unfortunately too short for us to truly enjoy the villa. - The air cond in the bedrooms are not working well and the western bedroom at the ground floor is noisy and not working. You need to get it fix.
- Emma (10/5): Excellent - Everything was great Na

- Nelson (10/5): -
- Ling Huei (4/5):
- Nataporn (10/5): Wonderful - Dinner was fantastic! A location is little bit far but there are shuttle bus, so it is not a problem.
- Theeraphon (9/5): Superb -
- Buranee (10/5): Big room, good foods - Very beautiful view Nothing
- Julie (9/5): A lovely hotel with a spectacular outlook. - We loved the outlook to the lake and the generous size of the room. We would have appreciated more choice for dinner.
- Eugene (7/5): Overall a very stylish and comfortable stay that is let down by its moldy open-air bath and attention to detail. - The room was well designed and nice, had a lovely view of Lake Toya from our room. There was a small arcade which was also nice. The staff was polite and courteous, always tried to help and we appreciated that. Attention to detail was unfortunately poor, especially for the price paid. The open-air bath we were hoping to enjoy was moldy near the corners, and the mold could be collected by a simple wipe of a wet tissue. This was unfortunately a problem shared by all open air baths offered by the property, so we didn’t bother changing the room in the end.
The faucets were way too close to the bottom of the sink, and the showerhead holder was loose. The toilet also shuts off the light if you close the door, so if you’re staying with friends and gotta do a number 2 it can be quite embarrassing.
There were lots of mosquitoes in our room.
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Shalley (8/5): Overall, everything was pretty much perfect. - I really liked everything about the place, but the breakfast could be better, it didn’t taste that great.
- Nidradee (10/5): Love everything in this hotel❤️ - The staff are so nice and friendly. The location is very good views. It’s very pleasant feeling to stay there. Something happened with my booking because of electricity of the hotel broken down but arrangements of the hotel is very good for me. I had a great time at this hotel.
- Stephani (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Ellis (10/5): Exceptional - Was a great hotel with wonderful views. Only downside was that most of the restaurants in the town they take you to at night were closed so it was hard to get dinner anywhere. Would have been better with more options for transfers to and from Rusutsu resort.
- Ken-jin (6/5): Pleasant - Food options was serverly limited
- Olly (6/5): Love Hate experience - The view from the room was definitely 5 stars, but everything else was closer to 3.5 stars. The toilet had motion sensor lights that turned off in less than a minute without movement, requiring occasional gestures to avoid being left in complete darkness. The basin tap was extremely short—only about 6cm from the base—making it inconvenient to fill the room kettle. To do so, you’d need to use the toothbrush cup multiple times. It could also be particularly frustrating for those with larger hands.
For the price, the hotel did not offer room service. The breakfast selection was very limited, and there was no countertop space to place your food tray while using one hand to open the oven toaster to put your bread in, wait for 5mins and take it out. Housekeeping did not replenish the small, handcream tube-sized shower toiletries. Additionally, the automatic curtains malfunctioned on the second day, requiring a staff member to reset the room’s power supply by changing the keycard.
At the restaurant, the window-side tables had a breathtaking view, but they were also directly exposed to the morning sun, making the experience uncomfortably hot and glaring—what a pity! On the morning of our checkout at 7a., the entire first level, including the lobby reception, was deserted. A bell at the reception indicated that staff would arrive shortly after ringing it, but after pressing it five times with no response, I had to walk all the way to the restaurant at the back of the hotel to find someone to assist with checkout.
That said, if these issues aren’t dealbreakers for you, it’s still a beautifully designed, exquisite hotel to enjoy your time at Lake Toya.
- Nan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (8/5): Peaceful, comfortable, clean, and incredible view. good value for the money - Overall, the facilities, Onsen, and the room was excellent. The view of the room stands out as the best feature. the room was clean and comfortable. Onsen was clean and outside experience was incredible. shuttle bus was helpful and convenient, This hotel was very quiet and peaceful, which is something we needed.
Goof value for the money, we are coming back again. The breakfast would be my only complicate during my stay here. The breakfast was very limited and only had a few things to offer. I really enjoy Japanese breakfast type but in my opinion the main dish was not very, one morning the lamb was poorly cooked and not good taste, and the next day had a poorly prepared main dish, very limited options and not prepared very well.
The dinner offered did not taste bad but small portion of food and had no side accommodations with the main dish, i.e. good salad, or some fresh bread or something to complete the meal. Just the small portion of the main dish. and the desert that was over priced, and poor value for the money
My wife and I went to the convenient store and brought cup noodles to complete our meal.
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Akash (10/5): Great location and room with amazing view - Amazing room with a perfect low view
Onzen was amazing
Breakfast was great
Room quality definitely worth the value spent
- Yi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brandon (8/5): Great hotel with a view! - Very new and clean hotel with modern design. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful to assist with taxi and shuttle bus arrangement.
The view from the hotel room to Lake Toya was gorgeous. The water heating in the room was a bit lacking, I would get mix of hot and cold water while showering.
Some guests were quite loud when walking around the corridor.
- Wenjing (10/5): I believe dinner was not worth the money we spent. I feel a bit disappointed, especially since I mentioned that this tri - Overall is good Dinner is not good.
- Gustaf (8/5): Very good -
- Allen (10/5): Beautiful hotel, very comfortable stay - A nice buffet selection of traditional Japanese breakfast dishes. Very spacious rooms with a beautiful view. Good amenities with daily top ups and beautiful yukata changed daily also. The staff were friendly and the hotel was always cleans Dan quiet. There weren’t many other dining options other than the restaurant at the hotel. Other restaurants were a 20 min drive away, which is not too bad, but the majority were closed (?due to winter?)
- Helene (8/5): Very good - Wonderful view of a beautiful part of the lake. Amenities were excellent. External appearance not great
- Brayden (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pengtao (8/5): What an experience! - In the quit pace, amazing view. Great value.
- Anders (10/5): Service-minded chic hotel in stunning location - WE Toya went above and beyond in terms of service. They catered for pretty much every need we had (organising taxis, their shuttle service to Rusutsu and their willingness to adapt their Omakase to our dietary requirements). They were always friendly and courteous—and the reception staff spoke English very well.
The hotel itself is perched up on a hill and rooms (and the onsen facilities) have an amazing view. The rooms are clean and spacious and the facilities are excellent. I would recommend writing them ahead of time or calling them to understand if your needs are met. Going from their materials, it could be hard to understand which services were on offer. However, their service-mindedness starts well before your arrival, so make full use of this!
Also be mindful that this is a somewhat isolated location, sitting at the edge of a village where the supermarket closes at 5 p.m. That's part of the charm, but if you don't have a car with you, you need to be on top of your logistics.
- Chanel (8/5): Very good - View is exceptional, both from the Lake View Room and from the Onsen. Watching the sunrise from the outdoor onsen was stunning.
Rooms are true to size and bed is comfortable.
Breakfast was a wonderful combination of traditional and western breakfast options.
- Shera (5/5): Not worth $800/night even in peak season - Quiet location Poorly designed. Tap too low, no space to wash hands. Toilet design made it difficult to stay as a family (no privacy for changing post bath). Breakfast was terrible quality. Staff (esp the male manager at the restaurant) was unfriendly.
- Lai (9/5): Superb -
- Xinwei (9/5): Superb - food
- George (8/5): Amazing views and an amazing location! - Views from the room, quiet location, beautiful surroundings, bath on the balcony, comfy bed. Quality of the dinner food options was not high and didn’t match the price - very expensive evening food options for quite low quality.
- Alfante (9/5): Superb -
- Samantha (8/5): good experience overall - Nice and cosy hotel, rooms are clean with decent view of Lake Toya. Photos are a true reflection of the rooms. Onsen is available in the hotel and a private bath in the room
- Onoosa (7/5): Good -
