- Jorge (10/5): Great quiet time - Amazing rustic experience, Miss Nuck treated us so nicely that it hurt to leave! I didn't dislike anything in particular
- JEAN (6/5): - BON EMPLACEMENT POUR VISITER CETTE PARTE DE L'ILE- personnel trés disponible , trés acceuillant et professionnel LES CHAMBRES QUI DONNENT DIRECTEMENT SUR LA SALLE DE RESTAURATION
- Ksenia (10/5): - Es war einfach perfekt
- Eva (10/5): Perfect journey - Everything, very clean, and the owner is very kind. Everything was great

- Emily (10/5): A truly magical island retreat - I absolutely loved everything about Baan Chan Lay. The location overlooking the mangroves is breathtaking, with the beautiful views across the water. The rooms are spacious, spotless and thoughtfully designed, with so many lovely touches that made it feel both luxurious and relaxed. I loved being able to go for a bike ride and having direct access to the kayaks next to the house felt incredibly special. The lovely ladies were as always also so warm and attentive, making my stay effortless and memorable and looking after my every need. It really is a piece of paradise. Nothing! If anything, I wish I could have stayed longer. It was hard to leave such a peaceful and beautiful place.
- כרמלי (3/5): Disappointing, unpleasant and could have been handled better by the owner if being honest with what - The room is clean. There is a nice public porch to the mangroves The publication in booking is deceptive and doesn't show the reality. The house is attached to the house nearby. So- the windows at the rooms are facing and opens to a moldy wall 80 cm away.
The view of the mangroves that is seen in the picture is through a door that is facing a public kitchen and seating room. Zero privacy.
I was offered to move to the family room, Wich I did. This room, as we'll has zero privacy.
The door is being opened to the public porch, and the at the window Wich is facing the view other guests can seat, half a meter from your bed.
You can't whisper without being heard
Guests Wich I kindly asked to move to another corner of the porch refused, what caused an unpleasant and unneeded conflict.
Finally, decided to move to another hotel at the night.
The owner said that this is normal.
So- if it's okay with you to have zero privacy in exchange for peaceful public porch it's fine.
You need to know what to expect.
Definitely not for children. Conflicts with other guests is highly potential.
All an all, the facility definitely doesn't match most peaple, and it's better to see it before you check in.
The owner didn't respond to my request for refund, Wich is the minimum that could be done. She was very responsive when I asked for the place through booking...

- Emily (10/5): A happy, joyful stay surrounded by beauty and open skies - This place is truly something special. From the moment I arrived I felt completely at peace. The setting is breathtaking, with beautiful scenery in every direction, and the rooms are gorgeous spotless, thoughtfully designed, and a joy to come back to after a day outside.
Kayaking here was a highlight: quiet water, open skies, and that rare feeling of having the world slow down around you. Mornings were calm and restorative, evenings peaceful and golden. Everything about this stay felt gentle, unhurried, and deeply nourishing.
I left feeling rested, happy, and already dreaming of returning. A genuinely beautiful place that stays with you long after you’ve gone. Thank you so much. 🙏 Nothing
- doan (8/5): Peaceful, comfortable & quiet - Comfortable and quainted A little hidden
- Marco (10/5): -
- Kyle (10/5): - Lovely peaceful, enjoyable time, beautiful scenery, and amazing beach on the island that can reached by kayak
- Eva (10/5): - Our stay could not have been better. It felt like a home away from home. The nature is breath-taking, the place is beautiful, tasteful, comfortable, clean, warm and welcoming, unique and very very special. If you want to get away from noise and party tourism come here and enjoy watching the kingfisher catching fish while listening to the mangrove birds and having a fantastic breakfast. Take the kajak and be lucky like us and meet some dolphins. Explore the little fisher village and be kind to all the kind people that welcome you with real warmth :)
- Gabriela (10/5): -
- Surinkaew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sun (9/5): As your home - Host like a family, recommend about the interesting things. We have also buy a 1day @3 islands trip. A lot enjog diving & swiming. Good recommend for dinner& nice coffee shop around that area. Some lizards as nature (my boy is an lizard allergy boy
- Chatchawal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alicja (9/5): Superb - Location of the property is just amazing! In the middle of nature, the views are just amazing. I could really relax in there.
And the hosts are so lovely, very helpful and kind :)
I loved the fact that there were free bikes for rent, so I could explore the area.
Rice porridge very tasty! The doors to the room were a glass window, so it was not so private (but there were curtains so everything was covered). It was not a big deal, I felt really comfortable and safe in there :)
- Mariana (10/5): Excellent authentic place to stay! - I loved my nice cozy clean bedroom with a big bed and a fridge and A/C and a spectacular view to the Mangrove. The bathroom is very clean and nice but outside the bedroom you have to go down the stairs. The bedroom made me feel like in a boat. I loved it. You leave your luggage outside the doors as it is very small.
The sisters in charge of the hotel are so nice and helpful. They made my stay so easygoing. She picked me up for only 700bhat at the ferry. I also used the bikes and kayak for free. It is a lovely place.
- Marie-albane (9/5): Amazing location, very relaxing and amazing hosts - Beautiful location and property. Very peaceful and relaxing location. We felt warmly welcomed by the owners.
- Robin (10/5): What a stay, what a place, and some amazing hosts! We were feeling at home, and we will most definitely be back!! -
- Taner (10/5): A hidden gem with unmatched hospitality - it’s been three weeks since we left Baan Chan Lay, but as one of our most memorable stays in Thailand, I feel I have to leave a review.
Baan Chan Lay is truly a unique experience—not just because of its location and cozy vibe, but because of the way the two owners go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Their hospitality is heartfelt, effortless, and genuinely welcoming.
When we weren’t reading a book while overlooking the bay or enjoying a peaceful, complimentary canoe ride, the warm and inviting living room atmosphere encouraged interaction with other guests, creating a sense of community.
We had the smallest room, barely big enough for a bed, but with a TV (including Netflix) and a stunning view, it turned out to be one of the coziest and most charming stays we’ve ever had.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (9/5): Superb - Really well maintained and spotlessly clean guesthouse with lovely owners.
Kayaks and bicycles to use for free. Scooters available to rent. Fridge and kettle in room with water in refillable glass bottles and free coffee, tea etc.
Beds were really large and comfortable. Lovely terrace overlooking the sea and mangroves with an assortment of seating.
Great place to relax and chill.
A taxi service from the ferry pier to guesthouse can be organised through them for 700 baht as opposed to 1000 through the taxis that wait at the pier. For the price it would be nice to have breakfast included. The food was very expensive (there are some much cheaper places on the main road a short walk or bike ride away).
The terrace was very nice but would be good have an area where you could sit and relax privately. Obviously not the owners fault but when we stayed there was a family with 2 young children, not the chilled and relaxed atmosphere we were after.
Would also be nice if the coffee, sugar etc wasn't in individual wrappers. Lots of waste
- Helena (9/5): Amazing place - amazing place filled with so many beautiful vibes and love. Thsi village is remote and u feel like u travelled with time machine. The owners are so friendly and help to make the holiday really unforgettable the bed were too hard for my liking
- Arvid (10/5): Superb - This place is a true gem!
Really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel feels like a cosy homestay where you get the chance to meet and talk to other people in the common area.
The people running the place were extremely nice and helpful.
Food was great.
The area is a cosy little fishing village, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Will be coming back here next time i'm in Koh Chang.
Note:
The place is located on the southeast side of the island. To get to the west side of the island you need to drive up north, there is no road connecting the west and east coast in the south. The east side of Koh Chang is very quite and not as developed as the west side. We had no problem driving to the west side when we wanted some more life.
- Leslie (10/5): The authentic and natural side of Koh Chang - Two lovely ladies go to great lengths to make your stay very pleasant.
If you like to be away from mass tourism and close to nature and an authentic fishing village, to do all kinds of activities, then this is a little heaven.
I recommend taking a) a kayak to the two (bigger) islands in the bay. The second has a beautiful sandy beach where you can snorkel. But if you plan to circumnavigate the furthest island, better check wind and wave conditions b) kayak in the khlongs and mangroves c) walk in the mangroves d) bike/hike to the waterfall e) to the end of the road and Buddha viewpoint f) hike to the lookout on the mountain g) bike to Salak Kok.. Only that they don't have freshly caught fish on the menu. However it's understandable. It's a small place and they already have enough work.
- Robbie (10/5): Exceptional - Best staff and accommodation I’ve had in all my travels. Everything was perfect and will remember forever
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional - The kindness and service from the two ladies at the resort was absolutely unique👍👍👍 greetings from the little Wayu 🙏 Everything was great
- Martyn (6/5): Comfortable. Maybe suite younger generation. - Idyllic location. Owners were very friendly made you very welcome. We were the only residents. Not much to do. Only one bar nearby. They do food and drinks at the villa until 7.00pm. Rooms are small but have comfortable beds and linen. Good job we didn’t stay longer, two days was enough cramped in a small room. Got woken up in the morning at 6.00am with next doors transistor radio. We came because we were curious of 9.6 on booking.com??
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfect in every way! - Here you will find a piece of paradise. The owners are wonderful people and will go above and beyond to help you. The house is beautiful and very well kept. The food and coffee is also exceptional! I hope to return one day :)
- John (10/5): Relaxing secluded waterfeont home stay with great food - The ladies who ran this small home stay were charming and spoke good English. We stayed 4 days and ate there about half the time, and every meal was really good - without exception. We enjoyed swimming off the deck in the mangrove at high tide, and made good use of the kayaks to explore the coastal area and into the mangrove. Great bird life. Very peaceful. This is the last house at the end of a lane so totally private location
- Mari-liis (9/5): Superb - Staff were really nice and all the atmosphere of the place. Good location were you can relax and enjoy nature, river and sea. We could take bicycles and canoes that was really nice.
- Kaoleni (10/5): Exceptional - Love the vibe n hospitality of the owner Nothing
- Andrzej (10/5): Great place if you are looking for silence and peace of mind! - Great hospitality and uniqe chance to stay in tradionall Thai looking house at the edge of mangrove forest! Very nice meals and special care you feel from the owners! During low tide you can not swim in the river mouth at all.
- Peter (9/5): Wish we'd stayed longer - Quiet relaxing environment, with the owner checking on our every need with great friendliness. She was very proud of her establishment and the food that she served. Her food was very good, especially the green curry. She gave advice when we asked and lent us a kayak. Having stayed in several other villages, hotels and home stays we can say that in comparison there was nothing wrong here.
- Thomas (10/5): Amazing place, food, and owners. - Food was wonderful, great breakfast lunch and dinner options. Food for kids was good too. Lovely welcoming owners. Such a peaceful spot. Other guests were all lovely too. Good nearby restaurants and mini marts. We had a lovely stay and wish we could have stayed longer! The owners arranged a boat to take us to Bang Boa pier.
- Naomi (10/5): Absolutely wonderful. Easy, clean, memory making, truly special. - The location(right in the mangroves looking out over the sea), the amazing hosts, the tranquility, the food, the ice cream, the comfy beds and lovely linen, the swimming, exploring the mangroves and the local village. Nothing at all
- Kamala (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this place is very good. The place is clean and cozy with an exceptional scenery of mangrove forests. The lady owner and staffs are friendly and attentive. Food is good with reason price. We also have a free access to kayak and mountain bikes. Will definitely visit again ❤️
- Mikafika (10/5): Exceptional - The best thing about Baan Chan Lay is the owner P Lek and P Nut! They are very friendly and kind and fun to talk to. They also cooked delicious dinner for us. The forest and the river by the house is very beautiful.
- Alison (10/5): We loved this place - Our hosts were absolutely delightful. Friendly, efficient and fun and also respectful of our quiet time in the sun loungers. We borrowed bikes which was a perfect way to get around the village and to the waterfall and mangrove forest. We ate in for breakfast and dinner. All the food was delicious. Top notch homestay and an authentic area to stay in for a few days. nothing
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb - Everything it great. Long way to find
- Aidan (10/5): Relax and watch birds - Calm, quiet patio with lots of birds. They let you use their kayaks for free to explore the mangroves. The hosts are so nice and welcoming, too. A great place if you want a relaxing vacation.
- Aidan (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome patio. Relaxed and welcoming vibe from the hosts. They also serve great food and drinks all day. They have free kayaks available to explore the mangroves. Comfortable beds too.
- Nadav (10/5): Exceptional - lek and noch were amazing. friendly, helping, flexible. they really took care of us. kayaking there every morning is remarkable. its really the end of the world. whoever gets there should ahave a way of transportaion. thank you again
- Theresa (10/5): Beautiful haven in the mangroves - Absolutely beautiful little gem at the end of the line of houses built into the mangroves. Beautiful views on two sides, with free kayaks for guests to use. Lek and Nooch were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and made us feel at home with our two children. Nothing - it really is a little gem.
