Guest Reviews
- Janice (10/5): - It is a great place to explore Yorkshire with lots of walks nearby. The pub and restaurant were very nice!
- Glen (9/5): Great Hotel! - Great location, lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Breakfast is delicious. This is the third time we have stayed there and will be back again next year! We were not overly impressed with our evening meal in the restaurant.

Food in the restaurant was very nice.
Set in an idyllic location.
Fabulous walks.
- Neesha (9/5): Hotel was lovely and would highly recommend. Its a great location if you want to go and explore. - Rooms and facilities in general are really clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
Breakfast - its a pre order system which is ok but if you want to make any slight tweaks on the day then it isn't really accommodated. Choice and variety for breakfast is great.
Dinner - variety and choices for veggies are great. Only thing that I think would be good to add to to the menu is a standard plant based burger.
Quiz night on Wednesday and Live music on Friday were treats :) The only issue we found is that the service in the restaurant (whether its breakfast or dinner) is so slow. you can be waiting for a while between courses. Staff were over run serving both the bar and restaurant.
- kelly (9/5): Great location, clean rooms and friendly staff - Excellent location, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff Friendly atmosphere in the heart of Grassington
- Sarah (7/5): - Lovely rooms and friendly staff. We were all disappointed with our food served in the restaurant which was a real shame. The staff were very helpful and understanding though.

- Kathryn (8/5): Fine for a short break - Location , staff Food expensive, breakfast average
- Hodskinson (8/5): most enjoyable a lovely area - Everything Parking is free in the village square but limited and a short walk with luggage to the hotel. OK if you are young & fit.

- Christine (8/5): - Clean , nice atmosphere . The staff were mainly helpful. The food we had in the evening was very good . The breakfast was ok, however the method for ordering was not very clear . The open fire is always welcoming on a cooler day . We had lunch . I had a fish sandwich. I was told it was fish gougons, it was one large piece of cod between bread . I could not eat the batter as it was very soggy and spongey. Slight oderous smell on the landing . Possibly due to being an old building .

- John (10/5): - Everything was good. Staff all pleasant. Food very good Nothing
- Cath (9/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Excellent location and good value for money. - Central location and well presented. Nothing
- Julie (9/5): Lively village location in the heart of Grassington. - Lovely inn just off the square. Great to stay in an inn with fire warm pub, breakfast and evening dining room. Felt part of the community here. Very popular with evening events and a pub quiz during our stay. Chip shop next door where you eat outside the hotel. National Park 5mins walk with reliable bus service. Very good staff with lots of support, knowledge of the area and attentive. Just because my mother has difficulty walking there is no lift but we managed as was given a 1st floor room.
- John (9/5): Location with friendly, welcoming staff, excellent service and good value for money. - Location with friendly, welcoming staff, excellent service and good value for money.
- Ceri (10/5): - The hotel was located in a perfect spot. Staff were brilliant! Very welcoming, smiley, happy to help and the hotel was spotless they were always cleaning and keeping on top of it whilst we were there. Room was really comfortable and loved the extra touches of the coffee machine, and the complimentary drinks and snacks. Very good value for money. Very quick with breakfast as soon as you walk in the staff are straight onto getting your breakfast for you. Any information we asked for they were so helpful. Definitely will be back here again 😁 I am a massive eggs benedict fan, I was slightly disappointed I didn't like the muffin it came with and it wasn't buttered or Toasted, It would have been better on normal bread and the hollandaise sauce was not homemade. The eggs was spot on though it's just the rest didn't compliment it enough it needed more flavour. Apart from that everything was perfect 😊
- Carly (8/5): 8 out of 10, let down only by the food. - Perfect location, beautiful and clean room, lovely pub and restaurant, incredibly welcoming staff and the most dog friendly place you could ask for, and the gifts in the room were a very nice touch! The food was average. Definitely just reheated and not fresh. Huge area for improvement with the food.
- Michael (5/5): Property was noisy throughout the night - Convenient to town centre Lack of parking
- patrick (10/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): Great stay, good location but would try somewhere else next visit. - The food in the restaurant was beautiful, the chicken pie was amazing along with the homemade soup. The bathroom, was cold no heating in bathroom of room 4 or any working extractor fan.
So the bedroom felt damp after showering.
The breakfast selection was great, cereals warm croissants. The cooked breakfast wasn’t to my taste. The poached eggs were hard not runny. The hash browns wasn’t cooked long enough. Overall could have been a bit warmer sausage was of good quality.
- Lauren (9/5): Wonderful. - Beautiful location. The room and staff were lovely. We had a lovely evening meal and breakfast. Nothing.
- Susan (10/5): Wonderful hotel friendly staff . Clean tidy room ! - Very close to the village . Clean fantastic food ! The bar closed at 10-20 unfortunately would have liked a quick drink before retiring but the lady behind the bar said she had shut the pumps off . Felt a little rushed .

- Cottrell (9/5): -
- Forbes (10/5): - Breakfast excellent
Very friendly staff
Fantastic choice of real ale
- Emma (10/5): -
- Zoe (9/5): Lovely, welcoming receptionist. Great location. Good breakfast. Enjoy able stay. Recommended and would stay again. - Great location.
We were lucky to get on the nearest car park which was free and very close by. Corridors were tired and ready for decoration.
- Hilary (10/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional place to stay!! - The Black Horse was exceptional, we loved our stay, staff were lovely. I can not fault this place. No on site parking, however, there is parking close by, one paid and the other (top of Grassington), has a honesty box, not a bad size but get in early.
- Alan (9/5): Good with exception of the bed. - The room was clean. The bed was uncomfortable
- Andy (10/5): Excellent will definitely return - It has been refurbished to a good standard
The rooms were spotlessly clean Needs a little finishing touch to the bathroom skirting boards
- Karen (5/5): Ok for the cost - Location was good The permanent doggie/stale smell in the bar area and slightly up the stairs.
Our room was small, bathroom small, sink not practical in an en suite bathroom.
- Angela (9/5): Very good. - Central comfortable; lovely staff food very good. Enjoyed chatting to the locals in the bar after dinner. All in all a nice night away.
- robert (10/5): - Friendliness Rooms were spotless We definitely will go back again Nothing

- Popke de Vlugt (8/5): -
- Janine (10/5): -
- Stacy (10/5): Nice place to visit and great pubs - Location was great Bar closed too early on a Saturday evening 10.30
- Deborah (10/5): Relaxing with good food - It’s such a beautiful old building right in the middle of the town The noise from other residents Having TV loud and talking loud at night but that can’t be helped they do provide earplugs which I used
- Ann (9/5): A happy trip in a beautiful location - Friendly staff. Real pub feel with quiz one night which we enjoyed. Food portions- some very large and others very small
- David (8/5): - All the staff were very helpfull and friendly. Could hear room next door to ours
- Hayley (6/5): Good, room could have been much cleaner, ran out of almost everything when we booked restaurant 12 months in advance. - Location, atmosphere The room wasn’t clean, pubic hair in sink, white stains down fabric at side of bed. Bathroom door filthy.
- Bernadette (8/5): Very comfortable and friendly hotel - Breakfast good
- Catherine (9/5): Cosy and relaxing stay. Welcomed with warm hospitality. Very much enjoyed - Lovely village and a beautiful cozy establishment. Comfortable and quaint, the rooms well kitted out, small but lovely. Breakfast service was very good.
- Stephanie (9/5): - Location and breakfast excellent
- HUW (10/5): Great walkers hotel - Warm friendly staff, great location, loved our room and enjoyed the food, very dog friendly and right in the centre of town. Doesn’t have parking but was able to park nearby
- Joanna (10/5): A fabulous hotel and stay - Very central fabulous staff and a lovely welcoming hotel even with pets
- Thomas (10/5): Excellent hotel in the Beautiful setting of Grassington. - The hotel was very well presented and clean. The evening meals were very nice, and well presented. There was a good range of Beers and lagers + wines etc. The breakfast was really enjoyable, with a good choice to suit different tastes etc. We got parked in the Grassington visitors centre car park, the parking was £8.50 for 48 hours, which was good value. The staff were friendly. We loved everything, and will definitely come back in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay. No issues or concerns.
- terrence (10/5): -
- Alan (10/5): Relaxing with all needs catered for. - A very good breakfast with plenty of choice; excellent restaurant; smallish but perfectly adequate room; location, which is ideal for walking in the Dales. Above all: the staff who were fantastic and created such a lively and friendly atmosphere. N/A

- michael (9/5): - Great location. Good food. Excellent friendly staff
- Carol (10/5): Very enjoyable - The property is in the heart of the village , the food was amazing , it was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful No negatives
- Jackie (9/5): Fantastic hotel, needs to turn the heating up 😊 - Lovely hotel, beautiful room and bathroom, food was great and staff very friendly 😊 The room was freezing when we went up for a rest after 4pm, had to go to reception to ask for the heating to be turned up. It took an age to warm up, too cold to shower for the evening, however by the time we got back to the room at around 10pm it had warmed up, was cold in the morning too. Taking my hot water bottle next time 😊
- Barry (10/5): Loved it - Great location and hospitality Nothing
- Frederick (8/5): Overall an enjoyable stay. - Cooked breakfast was good, though small portions. The weather was sub-zero and we found the room cold, the radiator was hardly producing any heat, with wooden frame absorbing heat. Requested increase temperature on each day, which the staff applied, but didn't make much difference.
Too many basic things on restaurant menu not available on both evenings. Food/wine over-priced.
- Victoria (8/5): - Beautiful bar and restaurant. Fireplace is lovely. Bedrooms were cold.
- James (10/5): - Great location and restaurant / bar Room 7 appears to be near a fan vent of some sort. This went on and off all night and kept me awake.
- Katie (9/5): Wonderful! - Friendly, relaxed place. Good standard of furnishings and very comfortable. Excellent food.
- Trevor (10/5): Great vale for money - Great location and friendly staff Nothing
- Elaine (4/5): Location great. Staff were pleasant. - Excellent location. They ran out of food for evening meal even though we had booked a table as a resident.
