Guest Reviews
- Tracey (10/5): Loved the stay will stay again - everything was perfect nothing
- Daniela (9/5): - Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal, gutes Frühstück, frisch zubereitet. Etwas in die Jahre gekommene Ausstattung, stilvoll aufgearbeitet, mit sehr modernem (Fernseher mit Internetverbindung, Self Check in) kombiniert. Zimmer war klein, Bett war bequem aber klein.
- DEBBIE (6/5): Convenient location , very clean . Lovely breakfast lady who accommodated all our dietary preferences and made a lovely - The location for the family we were visiting Was a little shabby and I had asked for a twin room and didn’t get it which meant two of my adult sons sharing . I saw a twin room opposite and had we had that it would have made a difference
- Andrea (8/5): - Nice hotel, good location with parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Mattress on four poster bed needs changing. It seemed to be 2xsingle mattresses together that were too soft.
- Julia (9/5): Ideal for bus routes into city centre. - Windows could be opened to allow for fresh air flow. Old fashioned décor, easy on the eye. Quiet room and pleasant tree-filled garden plus lawn. Parking close to entrance. Bus stops each side of road close to hôtel entrance with regular services into and out of the city (particularly numbers 3 and 13). I wasn't particularly troubled by the fact that the lovely lady serving breakfast insisted on us having a full English but a choice would have been welcomed.
- Tim (8/5): -
- DAVID (10/5): -
- Yousra (7/5): - The staff friendliness. The cook was extremely friendly and helpful and had a smile while serving us all the time.
The location is very good and close to the city center.
The vibe of the lodge is unique and charming. The cleanliness. We found a slug and dead/alive bugs in our family suite room. Under the bed was full of bugs and inside the closet. We couldn’t sleep all night from the thought. Also the mattress was awful and extremely uncomfortable.
- jullee (6/5): Run down compared to our last stay. - The service was excellent. The location was convent. Bathroom was dark and had no shower. The room was dingy and very small. Breakfast was not as good as it used to be.
- Irene (9/5): -
- Adel (7/5): I’m happy we stayed there. It wasn’t expensive and we had a hot breakfast. The Hotel is near to the bus stop. - It was good. We had a hot breakfast. The lady was kind and helpful. The room was clean, we were given shower gel, shampoo and clean towels. There was a hairdryer and iron in the room, also coffee and tea. The bus stop is nearby, so it is very convenient to go to the city centre. I’m happy we stayed there. We had to phone them because we didn’t know what time breakfast was. There’s no reception to ask any questions. The all house needs to be renovated.
- Iryna (9/5): - We loved everything. But the English breakfast was particularly delicious: it was served in a cosy, elegant dining room with a fireplace and a view of the garden.
- Hooper (1/5): -
- VinnieC (5/5): Never again - Staff were friendly or at least the one we saw who seemed ro be there all the time we were.
Location was great close to Bath
Breakfast freshly prepared for each resident Room was old falling apart, bathroom was tiny and one could barely fir into the shower, could only just open the door as there was a chair next to it which would not fit anywhere else. We were given the wrong entry code but staff let us in, had three flights of steep stairs to go up and WIFI was non existent on the top floor.
The room was nothing like the pictures and the building site outside was an eyesore.
- Jade (4/5): We appreciated the idea of an old house style, but the place definitely needs a lot of work. - The location was great, easy access to restaurants and close to the city center by car. The place was not well maintained at all. The walls were completely ruined by moisture, with the wallpaper tearing off and huge cracks in certain parts. The floor of the shower was dirty, the amenities were packets of shower gels and shampoo. My bedding had a hole in it. The stool by the desk was also in poor shape. Overall just a need for restoration and upgrades.
- OSWALD (9/5): Absolutely loved it!! - We loved our room : it’s cleanliness, no odours and the breakfast. The lady was approachable, smiling and helpful. Will recommend to family and friends. Hard to think - for that price.
- Joey (8/5): A lot of negatives - For the 2 nights of our stay there, we only saw 2 women (staff). One who cooks the breakfast and the other one who does almost everything. Both really lovely though. There is no receptionist. I was calling the "manager" which is written in the welcome folder but the number is unavailable. Our room is spacious and the bed is super king size. It is very quiet apart from when other guests open their door and they were chatting as the doors are very close to each other.
Breakfast are ok. I like their brewed coffee. Cereals selection is a bit limited, we only saw cornflakes on the buffet table. We enjoyed the full english breakfast. The place looks old and feels eerie. The floor and stairs are creaking and it was raining the Sunday night and the water was dripping on the wall. That's when i tried to contact "the manager" but it was unavailable. Without the physical receptionist by the entrance feels weird and feels you're on your own in case of emergency or major issues. I would only book again if there are no other hotels available.
- valerie (10/5): - Tout
Maus surtout la gentillesse du personnel
Le petit déjeuner
Et l'endroit romantique et historique
La proximité de bath. On as eu beaucoup de mal avec la fermeture et l'ouverture des portes 🚪
- Medha (8/5): -
- Felicity (8/5): Romantic, restful stay in atmospheric grand Bath stone villa - Proximity to where we needed to be Slightly faded grandeur - some frayed curtains and maintenance on window frames etc required
- Spencer (5/5): Cheap and not that cheerful - The price was good. The property needs bringing into the 21st century. It looks like it was last renovated in the 1950s and the place is falling apart.
- Paul (9/5): Great weekend and would recommend to friends. - Very easy to locate. Ample parking spaces. Is located a nice walking distance away from city centre . Our room was very nicely decorated. Communal area to sit in. Nice gardens to sit in. Lovely cooked breakfasts. The property is a bit tired in places.
- Teresa (6/5): Staff lovely, Bit tired and dated, but did the job - The staff were lovely, although on the out skirts of Bath Town center it was a quick cab ride into town or a nice walk back. Lack of attention to small details. Four poster bed, how ever to while watching tv from the bed one of you had the a blocking view of a bed post. Things were broken in the room, like the the TV cabinet door, the light over the sink and shower knob came flying off as a grub screw was missing . Towels too small, if you had forgotten toiletries, some were provided but they were sachets and not enough. Breakfast wasn’t bad, however a few condiments with the toast would be lovely and sorry a real pet hate of mine sausages of poor quality. And you could only have fried eggs. We felt like if the place tweaked a few things it would be lovely.
- Rebecca (7/5): - The location was brill, nice and quiet on the outskirts of bath. The ladies who run it were lovely. The state of room. It was very dated and the details are very poor upon closer inspection. I understand it's a period house and it's beautiful, it just doesn't look like it's been kept well
- David (8/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Bettina (9/5): Great place, great location - Staff were friendly, location is great, just 15 minutes bus ride from Bath centre. Parking available.
Room is comfortable and big, charming. View from a room was nice. I’ve enjoyed my stay, all was good.
- Carmen (1/5): Totally awful. Very traumatic. The worst experience ever. Total waste of money. - Nothing it looked like a derelict building site deom the front almost as though it was an HMO Everything it was dirty falling apart carpets were bare, wallpaper was damp and peeling, bathroom was filfthy bath panelels were broken and mouldy.
The lampshade were all falling offcurtaun pelmets in the room were ripped. The 4 poster bed in one of the rooms was broken. The ladies toilets were out of order. The window in one of the rooms was held together with sellotape.
There was a huge damp patch on the ceiling and wall in a other room. It was awful. We lasted half an hour before having to find another hotel. My young son amd my older autistic son were scared of the property as they said it was like somewhere that drug dealers would hang out. The pics on bookin.com must be years old
Bed stank even with the air freshener
Outside looked like an hmo or like it was derelict
- EnglandTunisia08 (2/5): AVOID AVOID AVOID - Please avoid this hotel at all cost. Never have I every had to leave a hotel within an hour of being there. The booking.com reviews definitely do not go hand in hand with the way this hotel is portrayed. The room was damp and the light shown in the picture had a bulb missing and then a bulb was not working and kept flashing, the wiring was in extension leads and was a definite fire hazard, there was a pile of junk outside our room as shown in pic, thread bare carpets, and dirty carpets, the entrance mat would not say no to a vac and the flooring a mop, the walls were flaking paint and in the room there was mold which had been painted over, the window had a broken glass in our room as seen on the photo. The garden looked lovely on booking.com but as you can see now it looks over grown and no access to get to it anyway.
My photos definitely show a small state of the interior building, and the grounds outside, it's so sad because this genuinely could be an absolute gem of a hotel with the TLC that is required. Location is perfect and with money spent on it would be a delight.
Sadly for us it left us distressed as we then had to find alternative accommodation last minute.

- Petteri (10/5): - Parking place and later night arrival easyness Usb charger would be nice
- F9555VWshelleym (2/5): Avoid this place! - Absolutely disgusted with this place!. I am disabled and use a walking stick and my partner has a broken leg. We requested a ground floor room due to this which they said would be fine. 2 days before we are due to go they send a message saying there are no ground floor rooms available now. They never answer the phone or reply properly to messages and are trying to charge me the full amount if I cancel!. I reached out to Booking.com and requested a free cancellation but Bailbrook Lodge have refused this even though they cannot accommodate us!.
- Matthew (7/5): Good value stay in a quirky hotel. - Quirky hotel in a great location. The code access system was brilliant as was the breakfast The bed was not sufficiently comfortable and the shower was a little on the weak side.
- julie (8/5): Lovely Bath period building and good price - The house/lodge itself was beautiful, old Bath building. The staff member we met was friendly and polite. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms seemed clean and tidy. The area was quite. I was happy with my single bed, unfortunately my son and his wife slept in a four poster bed that created every time they moved, they didn't sleep very well. I luckily did and had my own room next door which was great.
- Heidi (8/5): Amazing experience at the quirky lodge! - Although we were not expecting the old fashioned feel, it was quite quirky! The rooms were clean and comfortable and very interesting. The location has a bus stop right outside that takes you directly to the town centre which made it very easy to travel. And free parking was also very helpful. It is outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre - I recommend walking along the roads and cannols and exploring the more rural side of Bath. The manager was extremely helpful for anything we needed and the full English breakfast was also great. We would have liked more signposting and advertising for nearby attractions and things to do. But that is minor and everything about the stay was amazing!
- Scarlett (10/5): -
- Will (7/5): Was ok for the money paid - Nice building from the outside, and plenty of parking It was a little dated. Also there was no hairdryer in the draw which stated ‘hairdryer’ - which was unfortunate.
- Kiran Dutt (8/5): -
- Rachael (9/5): Beautiful period property - walking distance to centre of Bath - Great location and good value. Helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast. Would absolutely stay again. Warm in the night so opened the window only to discover opened bottom up. Let some cool air and then closed it again as I could hear a fox nearby.
- doru (9/5): -
- Claire (9/5): -
- Waheed (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast is good Duvet too thin on one bed.
- Tina Louise (5/5): Adequate and basic - The host was very helpful and the parking was good
Tea and coffee in the room was a nice touch and it was clean. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked. For a night or two it was adequate The bed was very uncomfortable and room needs a refresh.as paint on the floor and pillows were very old and flat as pancakes Window don’t open so no fresh air but for the money it was adequate
- Matthew (8/5): - Great room, great features Shower had no water pressure
- Richard (10/5): For what we paid, we felt it was good value. And would be happy to use again. - The room was comfortable, warm and clean. Bedding and towels clean and of good quality. We enjoyed the breakfast, and it was ready at the time we requested. The staff were very friendly and easy going. Room decoration a little tired.
- Stephen (9/5): We loved it - We had a wonderful stay at Bath. Great welcome from friendly people, comfortable and quiet room with a view over the garden, quiet apart from the delightful birdsong. Fairly short walk into the city. Nothing - it was all good
- Guy (1/5): N/A - N/A The company cancelled our booking shortly before we were due to arrive due to a flood at the property but we’re not able or willing to assist us find another Hotel in Bath.
- Obed (8/5): - Nice breakfast
- X4414TZbrookew (2/5): Warning: DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - Do not book this hotel. I hate writing negative reviews but I’m going to this time. They say they will email a code to get in before check in because there is no reception. Well I never received a code. I tried calling probably five different numbers I found, OYO customer support, different numbers for the hotel itself, and nobody answered. I decided to go in person and there was nobody there. I knocked on doors. The entire building looked abandoned. There was a sign on the door with a phone number that said to call if you had any issues, so I called and it said the call couldn’t be completed. Ended up just booking premier inn. Total BS
Not to mention the building didn’t look safe. It looked like the bates motel. Something out of a horror movie.
- Peter (10/5): Friendly, hospitable and a very nice place to stay - Good breakfadt Provision of a shower
- Melissa (4/5): Disappointing - Lovely clean cotton bed linen. The staff were helpful and friendly. The building is very dilapidated - torn, tired curtains; lamps with no bulbs; towel rails not fixed to the wall; no hot water. There is a code-entry system, so no human contact, and some confusion making this work for both the rooms in my booking. I didn't realise that each room had a separate booking reference so required a whole new sign-in for each one in order to get the code. This was very annoying late at night and the number to call for any issues was not answered for some time.
- Shane (5/5): -
- Toni (7/5): Ideal for a city centre break, value for money and an excellent cooked breakfast. - Excellent cooked breakfast.
- Ian K. (6/5): -
- ANITA (1/5): Disgusting. Don't stay here! - Please find attached the photos which show the room was not up to standard.
I went to make a drink and found the dirty kettle full of limescale.
We stayed a maximum of 1 hour in which we kept noticing more things wrong with the room; Dirty stains around the toilet, mold on ceiling in bathroom, rust on showerhead, damp water stains on the ceiling. The wash basin was in the main area and was making a constant glug noise.
I contacted the service manager and told him. We then left the room. Very disappointed as we then had a 2 hour journey home after attending an event in the area.
I would expect a better standard for a room where I paid £90. Customer services were not helpful and I didn't get a refund.
- Shane (6/5): - Location The room was very dated with broken bit in many places and bathroom was infested with ladybirds and showers were very poor
- Jenna (6/5): Budget hotel, with fridndly helpful staff. - Convenient, staff very helpful. Good cooked breakfast, very friendly cook. Dining area and sitting room didn't smell very nice. Buffet breakfast was toast (no spreads) and cornflakes. Cooked breakfast was good though.
Small bedroom with very small 'double' 4' bed that sagged in the middle. Stool at dressing table had a broken leg. There was no shower, just a slipper bath. Sink taps were loose. Hard to close the bedroom door when going out, as no handle. Very small t.v.
Wasn't great, but then it was very cheap so not complaining!
- joell512 (2/5): Cancellation with 1 day notice without explanation. Not impressed at all. - Avoid. We booked on 05/01/2026 for a couple of rooms on 14/02/2026 Our reservation was accepted and we paid for 2 rooms. On 13/02/ 2026., OYO hotel informed us by email that they had cancelled the reservation. No reason given. We are furious. They told us that the cancellation was at no cost for us. How kind. How does he know that? When I call back the number indicated on the email, the person , who hardly was hadly understandable and was not interested. This is a scfam, an hotel chain to avoid. I am still waiting fora refund as well. Not impressed at all.
- John (2/5): Has put me off using any OYO property ever again. This was my first and last - Imagining how nice it much has been when someone looked after it Everything about it’s current, sorry state
- Dorota (6/5): -
- Shane (7/5): -
- Jakub (9/5): - The elegant style Low ceiling in the bathroom
- O8794TDsimonl (4/5): OYO Bailbrook Lodge..... OHNO Bailbrook Lodge! - Never judge a book by its cover, but in this case do!!! From the outside the building looks like it needs a little TLC and that follows through to the inside. Booked a standard double but was upgraded to a suite with 4 poster. In the room the carpet was filthy with a selection of very dubious stains all over it. The curtains were worn out and threadbare and as for the king-size bed... it was more valley of the Kings. The mattress was the wrong size for the frame and was so worn it dipped by inces in the middle. The shower was interesting.... the controller was missing the grub screw which held it in place and the amazon shower head was filthy and worn out. The towel ring was broken and missing the part that holds it to the wall. The breakfast which cost £15 a head was ok but expensive for what you get. 1 sausage, 1 fried egg, 1 small hash brown, half a tomato, some mushrooms and a ramekin of beans. Lots of bread for toast but no jams or marmalade. One of our teacup and saucers weren't clean and unfortunately the milk was off (but this got replaced very quickly).
The whole place needs some major investment to bring it up to muster so would we stay again or recommend it as it stands.... a resounding NO.
Left us wondering what our original standard room was like.
- Alex (10/5): -
- Joe (7/5): -
- Jowett (8/5): - Room was amazing !!! Carpet needed replacement. Nothing breakfast was good value for money for Bath good location.
- Albert (7/5): Good value for money, comfortable, and the staff is kind and helpful - Staff - excellent and helpful
Breakfast - very good
Facilities - the family room is spacious and comfortable The facilities would need some refurbishment, both in the rooms/bathrooms and in the common parts.
- Sally (10/5): - The manager was so helpful and extremely hardworking. He is a credit to the OYO group. He deserves a big thank you. The breakfast was really tasty. The room was very nice and quiet. Nothing
- Gabriella (10/5): -
- Sheila (8/5): On a whole it was a lovely experience, the lodge has character but is also quirky. - The breakfast was great, Vippin was soo attentive and very polite, nothing was too much to ask for and he was very helpful and Sara was equally as wonderful as Vippin, they both made our stay all the more worthwhile. Bedroom 23 was a bit small, the floorboards and the bedroom door were very creaky. The sink was very awkward to wash your face and brush your teeth in and the water took a while to go down in the basin.
- Jenny (8/5): Comfortable and great value, will definitely consider staying here again. - Breakfast was delicious, the room was palatial and really comfortable. The member of staff I saw was polite, friendly and very helpful.
- Christopher (6/5): Handy location, nice breakfast, friendly staff. Too many emails! Would use again. - Good location, adequate room, nice breakfast, friendly staff. Room a little tired (broken mirror in bathroom, small piece of wallpaper missing in bedroom, loo roll holder missing). To many emails about our stay (I make it eleven!)
- Michael (7/5): -
- Sam (3/5): Not coming back, sub standard overall - the ceiling was leaking, the bathroom was not as clean as it should have been, the sealant around the bathtub was mouldy and old. a cleaner room and a better Wifi
- Toef (6/5): - Charmant van binnen De bedden waren enorm slecht. En de kwaliteit-prijs verhouding stond in geen verhouding
- Amy (8/5): - The staff are very kind and accommodating. We arrived early so our room was not ready however we were given our room key and shown how to access the building and even where our room was for ease when we returned to the hotel later on. Breakfast was great served tea or coffee and a not a long wait at all for food. Room was good size and had a cosy feel nice fresh bedding. Overall the standout was the staff member who greeted us and looked after us the whole stay. He allowed us to enjoy our stay without lifting a finger! It is about a 30/35 min walk in to bath centre, this isn’t so bad but we booked last minute so didn’t research this distance much. If you’re up for walks it is a nice one past some lovely houses and is only one road so it’s not strenuous! We did the walk in but later on after dinner got a taxi back up which isn’t the end of the world if you’re staying for just one or two nights.
- Denis (1/5): The worst hotel in Bath - We couldn't stay at the hotel because of the unpleasant smell of damp in the room, which is one of the main rooms, as well as the poor maintenance with broken armchairs and poor cleanliness. I didn't like anything about this hotel, starting with the terrible smell of damp, the poor lighting in the room and the poor cleanliness. The customer service is terrible. We have been writing for weeks without response and they gave us a phone number that doesn't work. We had to stay at another hotel and requested a refund for our stay, but all we got was an automated message. The photos do not correspond to the hotel at all.
- Julie (8/5): We were very happy with everything here had a lovely walk into bath city centre via the canal - Breakfast very good nice welcome comfortable room nice view Nothing everything was fine good value for what we paid
- Evan (2/5): A big disappointment - The bed we had in our room was comfy enough a we were given enough pillows and towels to accommodate both myself and my partner. The room temperature was fine. The breakfast was absolutely abhorrent for 8 pound, the continental breakfast consisted of a small bowl of fruit, bread, butter and juice and some stale cereal. RIP OFF! We actually ate out after we checked out and it was cheaper! The rooms cleanliness was horrendous, carpet was stained and filthy, mirrors were dirty and dusty, which really triggered my partners sensitive allergies. The room was absolutely tiny compared to what was shown on the photos and we were given no hairdryer and part of our fireplace was broken and hanging off, major safety hazard. The biggest disappointment was the bathroom. There were signs everywhere inside that said had rules that we weren’t told about, such as we couldn’t take a shower due to how tiny the bath was that it would cause the bathroom water damage! The mirror was broken and filthy. We paid over 100 pound to have toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and body wash in packets like condiments, absolutely ridiculous. Upon arrival we were concerned that the place was abandoned as we could not see or hear any other residents, let alone staff. We actually had to call the manager to ensure he was actually on sight, which I’ve never been more shocked with. Overall this lodge is overpriced, unhygienic and very creepy, the locks on our doors were not working and I personally did not feel safe or secure. I would recommend to anyone to book the Bailbrook HOTEL next door, which looked absolutely night and day. We will book the hotel next time, overall my partner is super unhappy and I was just extremely taken aback. Please don’t stay here, there our better places!
- Sam (3/5): - Location Change the seal on the bath tub and toilet seat.
Make sure the internet is actually working
- Tawfiq (1/5): I would never choose this place again. The room facikities were either broken, very old or not working. Breakfast was j - Location was as advertised 1. The room advertised was not given to me
2. The shower drainage was blocked thus water accumulated
3. Shower water was cold !!!
4. Toilet was very very old and mould everywhere
5. The whole place in dire need of renovation
6. Pillows were very old, bad quality and made sleeping impossible.
7. Floor carpet was very dirty
- Hartshorne (10/5): - I've had an amazing time here, staff are lovely and breakfast was lovely looking out on to the garden. You just need to step out the door and the views are beautiful. I will definitely be coming again, so much I didn't get to explore
- Bev (10/5): - Everything
- Joanne (10/5): Fabulous night away, very comfortable 😊 - The property was an older building in need of some renovation but it was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful 😊 The themed rooms 😊
- Yvan (9/5): -
- Brendan (7/5): Quirky old house won’t suit everyone. - Old house was quirky but interesting. Single staff member was helpful. Was clean and warm. Breakfast was great. As others have said, the house is tired. This won’t suit every traveller but was fine for us (two adults, two kids). Broken ground floor window panes taped up; window couldn’t be locked; bedside lamp had no power point; shower has low ceiling at about 6 feet; toilet cistern ran constantly.
- Kudinova (3/5): - Very friendly, pleasant and attentive staff, thank you very much, good tasty breakfast. The room was dirty, there was mould in the bathroom, and the toilet tank was leaking (the noise prevented us from sleeping), there was an unpleasant smell, damaged furniture, a bed without legs in the middle, and when two people slept on it, they both slid into the middle and disturbed each other. It seems that there are problems with the floor on the first floor, as we had a room underneath it and could hear all the noise too well, the ceiling creaked and prevented us from sleeping.
- Carminella (8/5): Wonderful stay here, it was a beautiful room and the hotel manager was very helpful. I had a lovely stay and would book - The location was perfect if you travelled by car, also conveniently located near a bus stop for easy access into Bath town centre. The room was very spacious and full of period features which I absolutely loved. The check-in had me worried when I did not receive a code at first but it arrived shortly before check-in.
- Jeremy (9/5): We only had one night but it was comfortable and the customer service and breakfast as really good. - Vipin's customer service was excellent. Some furnishings were worn out and the TV remote not fully working.
- Kate (2/5): Overpriced for a property in serious need of updating. - Not a lot. Decor was in serious disrepair. Bathroom fittings were all falling apart and it there was mould everywhere.
Only English Breakfast option - no continental option such as cereals which was disappointing.
- katrina (10/5): - Full of character. Hardworking helpful staff.
Real coffee and quality tea with a teapot in the bedroom.
- Juliet (9/5): Overall a great budget hotel. - A short drive into Bath. Excellent hosts. Delicious breakfast overlooking the garden. Overall a great value budget hotel.
- Stephen (10/5): - We booked 4 rokmw (6 people). We liked everything. It has an old decoration (not everyone likes it) but in my opinion gives it a great vibe and character. You feel back in time 😊
Staff/manager were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. About 40min walk from the center. Less than 5min in a Uber. Free parking. Rooms were very clean and really warm. Breakfast was good.
Great price too. Would stay again and recommend it.
- Williamson (10/5): - Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Rooms were comfortable and quiet
Near to bus stop and we were able to walk in to the city. Shower was a little small size but understand it needs to fit the space!
