• Mary (5/5): - Loved the location of the property I would have preferred daily housekeeping. There was a bad smell in the bathroom every morning. The music from W15 went on until 10pm so if you have small kids like I do, this was annoying.

• Kathl (8/5): - Die Lage!!! Direkt am Strand, bzw Meer. Fussläufig viele Restaurants erreichbar Frühstück war ok, etwas mehr zum Aufhängen der nassen Badesachen wäre nicht schlecht. Moskitonetz über zweiten Bett wäre schön. Hat alles gepasst soweit wie von anderen beschrieben, nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Zur Surfschule können wir nichts sagen, da waren wir nicht.

The music from the hotel next door is ridiculously loud and is played from noon to 10pm everyday and night. The room we stayed in shook with the vibrations of the doof doof sound. Read the reviews for the hotel next door and people leave because of the music. Why they play the music is beyond the staff’s comprehension - we went next door one night for dinner and asked them. Nobody dances and nobody enjoys it yet they play it. So beware!
• Russell (10/5): Awesome. Great waves to learn or improve your surfing. - Fantastic location, bang on the beach. Plenty of loungers and chairs to relax on. Superb food and easy bar service. Surf hire on-site. Friendly, safe, easy to walk 5 mins to other restaurants etc. Nothing to dislike. Other people have mentioned noise from neighbouring accommodation, although this is only music and all is quiet for when you you're catchin Zzzz.

• σεηλορ μουν (9/5): Unbeatable location - Unbeatable location on the beach with free sunbeds. The room is spacious. Friendly staff. Included breakfast which was ok (nothing extraordinary but it includes eggs, bread, fruit or juice, coffee or tea). Surf school attached to the property and you can get lessons for 4000rupee. The rooms are very old fashioned, the property would really benefit from some renovation. Although it's prohibited to smoke in the room, there was a very intense smell from smoke in the room ( I guess it's not the fault of the property that the guests don't respect the rules but it was quite unpleasant).

The rooms are a little bit dated and prone to getting a bit damp unless you keep the aircon on (which I wouldn’t usually use)

Aamiainen oli myös hyvä. Kohtalaisen kova musiikki soi viereisen hotellin baarista aamupäivästä iltaan saakka. Viereisen ja vilkkaan ajotien äänet kuuluvat hyvin huoneeseen, ainakin jos huone sijaitsee sen läheisyydessä

• Melissa (10/5): Die Unterkunft bietet die beste Lage in Weligama, direkt am Strand, mit Surfschule vor Ort sowie saubere Zimmer mit Mosk - Besonders gefallen hat uns die Lage des Hotels direkt am Strand. Ausserdem verfügt die Unterkunft über eine eigene Surfschule, der Surf­lehrer war extrem nett. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und das Bett hatte ein Moskitonetz, was wir als sehr angenehm empfunden haben. Insgesamt haben wir uns dort sehr wohlgefühlt. Nicht so gut war, dass das Hotel nebenan oft laut war, weil dort Musik lief. Zum Glück nur bis 22:00 Uhr. Das Zimmer war allgemein sehr hellhörig. Im Zimmer gab es keinen Föhn und keinen Mini-Kühlschrank. Ein Kühlschrank ist zwar nicht unbedingt nötig, da man immer Getränke bestellen kann. Leider konnte man das Fenster über der Tür nicht abdunkeln, deshalb war es nachts ziemlich hell im Zimmer.

• Christina (9/5): Traumhaft am Strand - Die Unterkunft ist direkt am Strand, man kann von der Terrasse aus das Meer und die Surfer beobachten. Nachts hört man das Rauschen des Meeres. Auch gibt es gratis Liegen mit dünnen Matratzen (aber keine Strandtücher) am Strand. Die Unterkunft bietet Surfstunden an. Und wir haben auch einen Wasserkocher für Tee/Kaffee bekommen. Es gibt eine neue Klimaanlage. Das Bad ist in die Jahre gekommen (gelb-braune 70er Jahre Fliesen etc), das Zimmer ist recht dunkel.
• Julia (10/5): Never going home! - Everything! My partner and I were actually staying in Ahngahma but did a day trip to Weligama and stumbled upon Samaru. We instantly loved the location and friendly vibes. We changed our plans and checked in the next day. Originally, we booked three nights. We then extended two nights, then another two. It’s impossible to leave because it’s so good! You wake up, roll out of bed to a fresh and delicious breakfast on the beachfront. You then mosey on over to the sun beds to relax. You watch the surfers then can rent a board or even get a lesson. After a surf, you kick back with a mango lassi and just enjoy. The location couldn’t be any better. The staff are all super friendly and genuine and make sure you have a fantastic stay. They just make you feel at home. The lovely staff and great location seem to attract friendly and chilled guests, too. We met lots of lovely people of all ages. It’s a special place. Thanks so much Samaru, we love you! Julia and Brad (best honeymoon ever). Loved it all.
• Adry (10/5): Really nice place to enjoy the beach , waves and surf, well organized and welcoming stuff. Big room , clean and comforta - The proximity to the sea, the set up, and the teaching surf team. Breakfast was a bit limited.

Zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk personeel algemeen gesproken. Restaurant ontbijt variatie was zeer beperkt. Obers mogen meer proactief zijn in het bedienen van jou.
• Konstantin (10/5): - Абсолютно все! Место, персонал, радушие, завтраки и конечно же океан! Не то чтобы не понравилось! Просто не логично в таком климате отсутствие холодильника. Не то что в номере, но и в общественных зонах. Приятно всегда иметь под рукой любимые холодные напитки, особенно поздно ночью. Ведь обслуживание только до 22:00!
• Kristina (10/5): Идеально для серфинга! Просыпаешься, выходишь и через секунду ты на споте! - Очень дружелюбный и внимательный персонал! Старались угодить во всем и сделать проживание максимально комфортным. Даже запомнили, что я люблю на завтрак, хотя я жила меньше недели. Расположение на пляже, прям на серф споте. Из окна каждое утро, толко открыв глаза можно увидеть состояние волн, и сразу идти кататься. Все супер! Единственный момент, прибой шумит постоянно, и ночью ощущение, что ща окном шквалистый ветер) хотя это просто волны. Но в этом что-то есть)

• Leonie (8/5): Prima plek als je wilt leren surfen - Top locatie aan het strand. Goede ligbedden met kussens. Voldoende beschikbaar want bijna iedereen ligt op een surfplank. Manager/bedrijfsleider aardig en behulpzaam. Kregen gratis upgrade omdat standaardkamer nog late checkout had. Qua prijs kwaliteit en ligging niet beter kunnen vinden. Bed lag prima, extra laken en extra handdoeken gekregen. Ontbijt goed. Bodyboard 500 rp per uur Privé surfles 5000 voor 1,5/2 uur Kregen wierrook tegen muggen Ligging prima als je wilt leren surfen. Breed strand veel ruimte en mooie rollers. Zwemmen kan ook, maar vooral worstelen met de golven. Leuk, maar met kleine kinderen lijkt t me niks. Sommig personeel is de hele dag aan het rond "hangen ". Soms ook onduidelijk wie er werkt of wie er "aanwezig " is. Ook kregen we met 3 overnachtingen maar 2 halve liter flesjes water. Toen ik vroeg om water aan een medewerker kreeg ik te horen dat ik een grote fles kon kopen. Oké prima, maar ik kreeg een open 1,5 liter fles en toen ik een slok nam kwam de chloorlucht me tegemoet. Hier zat duidelijk ander water in. Terug gegaan en van de manager gratis 2 halve liter flesjes gehad (dicht).
• Nikola (10/5): - Vše bylo perfektní. Dostali jsme dokonce i lepší pokoj. Na všem se dalo domluvit a hostitelé byli hrozně fajn. Měla jsem lekci surfování, která mě velmi bavila a i cena byla fajn. Snídaně servírovaná na pláži s výhledem na surfaře v oceánu. Wifi fungovala i na pláži. Pokud bych někdy znovu cestovala do Weligamy, tak určitě do Samaru.

He is the best surf instructor and he is also super easygoing and chill - also really flexible about the surf lessons. The location of the hotel is perfect, you get out of your room and there is beach right away. The room was clean and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They solved all my problems and helped me with my request. Samaru is a special hotel and I’m definitely coming back! Nothing

• Martin (10/5): Wir würden sofort wieder kommen - Das Hotel hat eine top Lage, es liegt direkt am schönen Strand. Es gibt ausreichend bequeme Liegen mit Schirmen, welche kostenlos zur Verfügung stehen. Es gibt eine eigene Surfschule und einen Bretterverleih. Vom Hotel aus kann man perfekt den ganzen Surfern zuschauen und auch das baden im Meer war möglich. In der näheren Umgebung gibt es tolle Restaurants. Wir hatten ein Vierbettzimmer, es war ausreichend groß, das Bad war ok und wir hatten einen Balkon. Das Frühstück war einfach, für uns aber völlig ausreichend, man konnte direkt am Strand frühstücken. Direkt neben dem Hotel war ein Beachclub, es gab abends bis ca 22 Uhr Musik, das hatte uns aber nicht gestört. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, das Personal war sehr unaufdringlich und hat uns in Ruhe gelassen. Das hatten wir in Sri Lanka auch schon anders erlebt. Als wir da waren wurde sehr viel renoviert, alles frisch gestrichen und geputzt und das Hotel steht wirklich gut da. Absolute Empfehlung ——

• Jo (6/5): Perfect for a beach holiday if it were not for the noise next door. - Situated on the beach, the balcony view and outlook over the sea was exceptional. The loud, thumping dance music from 3pm to 10pm every day from the adjacent hotel was hard to bear and detracted from our stay.

Linen was clean Fan worked and wasn’t noisy Air conditioner worked well Great swimming beach with good condition cushioned beach lounges and umbrellas (that is what you are paying for) Nice porch with table & chairs outside rooms. Bottled drinking water in room supplied (but no glasses) Breakfast provided was basic & standard - Sri Lankan coffee, juice, eggs, fruit, white toast & jam. Garden areas were clean, tidy but basic. No mini fridge in room (that’s a deal breaker for me) Hotel is over priced for the room standard in Sri Lanka - you are paying more for the location and sun lounges on the beach (no pool) Extra charge for use of beach towels (the only hotel/homestay that did that during our 3 week trip) Only one small thin bath towel per person supplied in bathroom and no hand towel or face towel. No blankets (too bad if your travel partner likes the room cooler than you) No in room tea/coffee making facilities or even a glass to drink water from. The beachside undercover tables for eating looks like a makeshift restaurant and you have to look for someone to come and provide a menu if you want to order a drink or meal. WiFi was hopeless even though our room was close to reception. There was a sign on back of our room door saying ‘no alcohol or fruit in rooms’ - why?

• Jana (8/5): It was ok - The location which was directly on the beach and the nearness to things like surf lessons, groceries, dining. Staff were lovely and helpful. The manager showed us different rooms and let us pick which one we preferred. We had a cabinet to lock our items in our room. For the price, it should have been better. The resort was only a budget hotel, not even mid range. We had two little bottles of water provided the whole stay and two thin towels for both shower and beach. We had to over-pay for a bottle of water so from then on I walked to Cargill's. No cups in the room for the water. Room was quite small. Noisy all afternoon and evening because the hotel beside Samaru thinks it is a Caribbean party resort. Breakfast was so repetitive, eggs, toast fruit. No other options given. A/C wasn't really working and was so loud - it finally broke our second day. They attempted to fix it but it broke again in the night.

• Shadiyah (10/5): Exceptional - it was in close proximity to a lot of restaurants and surf schools, and being beach side makes it even better! the rooms are well maintained and kept clean and tidy and well worth the price!
• John (10/5): Samaru Beach House - Friendly and attentive staff. Perfect location (right on surf beach). Large shaded restaurant area as close to the sea as you can get. Decent hard surfboard rental available on site. Nice food (not expensive). Good quality sun loungers and shade. Spacious rooms with both fan and Aircon. Nothing tbh. They could do with giving you a complimentary large bottle of water each day.
• Shannon (10/5): Exceptional - it was right on the beach, steps from our door, service was most excellent, super friendly staff, great location for surfing and lounging nothing

• Chris (8/5): Awesome location at the beach, comfortable but ordinary accommodation. - The location is PERFECT, right in the middle of the training areas for surfing and the best possible swimming beach. The layout of beds and tables with umbrellas was the main attraction for me - an awesome way to spend a holiday. The breakfast was fresh and good - but unimaginative. I only discovered after a few days that it was possible to order meals - something nobody seemed to be doing. Is this available or not? It would be really good to have a bar area near the beach - in which case I guarantee that you would get an evening crowd developing. As it is - the beach area closes up at sunset which is not good.

• Jennifer (8/5): - very comfortable hotel with excellent customer service. The breakfast was excellent! Rooms are very basic, but they are clean. AC works very well, almost too well sometimes. Beautiful beach and good service for drinks.
