Guest Reviews
- Marc-Andre (10/5): - Bon rapport qualité prix
- Deanna (8/5): - Overall ok, needs lighting when entering inside the building and better parking
- Kévin (10/5): - Service was nice, understanding and available.
Good quality/price ratio.
- Alexandre (10/5): - Perfect
- Christine (10/5): - The room was very nicely decorated and there is a lovely courtyard in the back. The hosts were responsive and helpful. The bed was comfortable and although we didn't use all of the amenities, it was well appointed.
- Aman (8/5): Good and cozy place at Montreal !!! - Good and cozy place at Montreal !!!
- Benjamin (8/5): - We ended up not getting the room we booked because of a hokey tournament, but we got a nice cozy room and the guys who run the place made it right. Can’t ask for more than that.
- Cassie (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here for one night and had an amazing experience. The owner and his son were extremely helpful, accommodating, and friendly; greeting us upon arrival and helping us with getting settled in. They were always available to answer any questions we had right away! The building is unique and beautiful even in the winter. Our room was very cozy and clean. The location is also very convenient for walking or a short uber downtown. We will definitely stay here again when we are visiting Montreal. 10/10
- Robert Neil (8/5): - Nice place but don’t expect modern architecture. Low ceilings so 6FT tall beware. Walking distance to the Bell Centre and downtown activities.
Would go back again.
- Philippe (4/5): Old - Minimalist - Cold - I was staying there for 1 night. It is an old suite, with lots of space for 3 to 6 people. The rooms would need renovation. Cheap furnitures. Bathroom need towel holder and maybe a small shelf for toileteries. The room was freezing whwn I entered. Took me a while to adjust heating to 21 deg C (it was 17 deg C when I got in). Confortible matress. Lots of window, but not enough curtains, so it was fairly lit in the morning. Old sofa not confortible. Need a better table for lunching or working.
- Aline (10/5): - Nous avons adoré rester au HPG Griffintown !!!
Excellent
- Catherine (10/5): - Un très bel endroit. L’ambiance extérieur était génial.
- Pippa (4/5): - Photos are NOTHING like this place. Very deceptive marketing. It is run down, shabby & not as per the reviews (scroll to poor reviews & other sites). A large centipede floating in the toilet & broken glass in cupboard . . . the list could go on.
- yingshi (6/5): - 6 people staying, but only one toilet paper ….. ended up to buy myself.
- pearldeep (10/5): - Beautiful hotel with beautiful staff. If you are looking for a chill space without all of the street traffic and hustle, this is your spot. My favourite part about this hotel is the secret garden patio. You could spend hours there. The rooms are also much more spacious and unique than the average hotel. Thank you for a beautiful stay, I would absolutely recommend this hotel!
- Gared (10/5): - Friendly, kind staff. Clean. Great location
- Cristian (2/5): - First of all there was NOBODY around at check in so we had to find our way around.
Secondly there were no utensils except a bunch of forks.
Third the air conditioning was not working as it was missing a battery so I had to replace it with a new battery.
If you want to rent something cheap in the heart of Montreal then this is your place. However you get what you pay for.
- Yolande (8/5): - Très bien !!à recommander
- Carl (10/5): Great stay in Griffintown! - The host (Michaël) was so friendly and helpful. Very quiet stay and the secret garden is a peaceful place to relax. Great stay in Griffintown if you want something "particulier".
- Martin (10/5): - Hôte symptique.
- Layalee (10/5): - Clean, spacious and nice studios. It was quiet wish a beautiful backyard. Homey feel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable and accessible family/group rooms - Comfortable and simple hotel (not sure if this qualifies as a hotel in the true sense) for families. We are two adults and a grown child needing a separate bed and this fit our requirements perfectly. Room was comfortable and warm. Beds and other amenities were good. Only issue I had was the carpet smelled when it got wet near the door. And because it was a tad cold, we couldnt open the window. Paid parking is off campus, in a nearby condo that needs to be booked in advance which I did not do, but the owner/manager was very kind to allow me to use it at a flat fee (unlimited in/out). Very close to downtown Montreal, a short drive or an easy walk from Eaton Centre Montreal and other places in the business district. Also close to McGill.
- Joy (10/5): - This was the perfect stay for our Montreal trip. The host was very friendly and acommodating to our later checkin time. The double bedroom was clean, comfortable, and well-designed. Great value for money. Highly recommend!
- Ben (8/5): - Each room was like having your own separate apartment over 3 stories. Bedroom was on the top floor with a living room, small dining room and kitchen. There are a bunch of cool cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Very cool spot!
- NAOMI (10/5): - a great location and a fun place to stay. Heated, sheltered patio so that garden is usable even in November. Only drawback was that Ottawa Street was all dug up - being repaved. Still, highly recommended
- Jason (8/5): - The proprietor, Michael, is a lovely person and was very helpful. We really enjoyed staying in this charming historic place. The attic room we stayed in gave us plenty of space for our family of 4.
Our stay wasn’t long enough to really take advantage of the outdoor apace available to us but perhaps next time! We were able to take advantage of the neighborhood restaurants that were within easy walking distance.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a managed property (like an airbb), not a hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quel bel endroit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing place to stay! Look forward to coming back on my next visit
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Plants and art and plenty of room. Quiet. Clean. Great bakery around the corner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent condition of rooms and location
- Lisa (8/5): - We stayed only one night, however, my arrival was late and there was not much security. No front desk or attendant, no TV in room as advertised. Coffee and tea but no creamer. Room was comfortable and so were the beds. Linen was clean and fresh. Room was spacious and clean. I would prefer personal contact with somebody at the bigger chain hotels for a better feeling of security
- Robert (10/5): - Great location, incredible comfy bed, huge rooms, easy in and out, everything was wonderful, definitely would stay here again, even it was a month or more at this location. Love it, even the art on the walls was great.
- Karine (10/5): - Très bien situé, accueil chaleureux, grande chambre, belle court arrière!
- Christian (6/5): Good hotel but not fantastic, by a world traveller - I got the roof 'condo' for my stay. Not too sure if other were available.
It was dangerous to access by the stair.
On my arrival, I tried to watch TV but the remote batteries were dead (I could open it by the button but could not change the channels) so I went to bed. My original bed sheet had some remaining of stains on it so I changed bed (there were many in the condo).
I got wake up very early 6h30 7am by the construction but it was ok because I had to go to the office. But breakfast was only starting at 8h30...Breakfast was good.
On the next night, I planned to ask for remote battery but no one was present until quite late...no TV then again. I had to leave at 7h00-7h30 so I could not ask for early breakfast.
The host was very kind but hard to reach.
For a similar price I could have a good hotel near by. I wanted to try but at the end I will go back to this same hotel next time.
I mean it's a good hotel, but not 'fantastic!' as the reviews were telling me.
- Robert (10/5): Charming hotel-cant wait to go back - My wife+2 year old and I had a great stay at HPG (summer 2019). Michel and his staff were very friendly and accomodating anytime we needed anything
The hotel is very charming, it's an old historic style building that has been renovated to modern standards. The back courtyard was so relaxing. It was like being in a french cafe surrounded by a garden with lots of patio furniture and large trees. The owner is constantly improving/adding things to the courtyard. They had just built a deck and planted new greenery when i was there.
Furniture in the suite was good and there was even a nespresso machine. They serve a simple but quality breakfast in the morning with fresh cooked omelette made from scratch, croissants, fruit, coffee etc.
The location is great, many parks nearby including lachine canal with its bike path. HPG is walking distance of anywhere downtown including old port, bell centre, mont royal etc.
The parking at the hotel is not ideal but it worked for us. They only have 3 spaces in tandem. Best for guests without cars or for guests who don't plan on coming and going 15 times a day.
HPG has 5 suites and can probably accomodate around 15 to 20 guests at a time. If you have small kids or limited mobility definitely go for one of the 2 suites on the ground level. I would reccomend HPG for small family reunions, bachelor(ette) parties, group trips etc.
Looking forward to going back to HPG in the future
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lucked out by finding this super unique spot in the hip Griffintown area. Mike was more than accommodating and was wonderful in giving us direction in where to dine and experience local nightlife. They have parking on-site and the rooms are excellent. We will stay here whenever we're in the area.
- martin (8/5): - Great value for a unique, clean and spacious living quarters; industrial modern decor and neighbourhood, walkable amenities and safe; parking issues only factor that prevented a "biggest smile" rating.
J'y retournerai surement.
- Julie (10/5): - Well renovated historical home, new beds, great location close to old montreal and downtown, Mic is very helpful and available to guests. Construction was not an imposition.
- Yvonne (8/5): Great place for a home base, right downtown - This was in the perfect location. A block away fro Tim Hortons, a grocery store, SAQ (Liquor store) great restaurants. A quick walk to Dunns for a great smoke meat sammich and poutine, under 10 mins to the subway, bus stops and Bell Center. We were in town for a hockey game. There was a dining room, living room, kitchenette and bedroom upstairs. Balcony was perfect as well - one from the bedroom and one from the main level. Very comfortable home base to go everywhere from there.
- Hazel (8/5): didn’t actually get a room here but got redirected - the host failed to notify us that our stay was overbooked. we arrived and wasted half an hour trying to get in touch with the hotel as there is no front desk. once we got in touch with hotels.com they put us through to the manager who notified us of the overbooking. he gave us a room at the alt hotel next door which is very nice. he also called us an uber to our concert as we were quite late. only reason i cant give 5 stars is because they did not notify us of the overbooking until we got there. otherwise everything was fantastic and the customer service was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great unique acomodation in a wonderful area - This is a unique, small option for accommodation that I am glad I stayed in. The location is excellent, and the building historic and unique. I was given a full 4-room apartment on the second floor which was far more than I expected or needed. The owner was friendly and greeted me on arrival making the check in and check out a breeze. The only issues were that the building can be noisy with the steps of other guests above or below being audible. And there is a truck packing lot across the street which becomes noisy early in the AM. So light sleepers should take this into account.
- Rhonda (8/5): Great place to stay in trendy area - I was travelling for work and it was just me, so I had a small suite. It's in a great location and really sweet place to stay. Close to coffee shops, liquor/grocery stores and restaurants. Easy to book. Can't beat the price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Excellent service but noisy - Mic offers an excellent service. Unfortunately, there was construction works just in front of the hotel, which cause lot of noise in the morning and during daytime. The parking of the hotel costs 18$/day and is inconvenient (especially if you have a large car).
