Guest Reviews
- Laura (10/5): - Room was huge for Great Britain! Very clean and comfortable with plenty of space to move around. Parking was a little tight but we managed. After a long day of traveling, it felt like I had won the lottery!
- Nick (10/5): - Lovely staff lovely room lovely food
- Catherine (10/5): - Nice spacious room with a balcony and fridge. Quality bedding and towels. Friendly, helpful staff. I stay there regularly through work and highly recommend as a solo traveller.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good hotel with good facilities. Not a lot of free space in the room to place suitcase.
Excellent breakfast
- Keith (10/5): - Fab hotel with heaps of character - food and drinks top class , as are the staff. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area
- John (6/5): Value find - Value for money stop over during a cycle trip. Comfy room. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Marianne (4/5): - I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so. Unlike a lot of the reviews, the staff on duty the evening we arrived badly affected our experience of the Cults Hotel. We had a very unfriendly, bordering on rude, welcome at reception and dinner, had a waitress grab condiments off of our table without even asking or acknowledging us and when I came back into the hotel later that evening the two men on reception didn't even say hello but continued to swear at each other. They all really need some proper training in how to treat their guests better. That said the young waiter working at breakfast was pleasant and helpful.
- David (10/5): Lovely Hotel! - Great food and good value
- Alastair (10/5): - Perfectly good hotel, but come early to park!
- David (10/5): - Clean and well equipped
- Ian (8/5): - Excellent breakfast.
- Steven (10/5): - Friendly staff, spacious room
- Carl (10/5): - Fantastic stay and the staff have been super - really friendly and helpful.
- Mitchell (4/5): - People very nice. Good wifi. But: no shampoo, harsh LED room lighting, no bottled water, many steps and a lift with non-disabled guests discouraged from using it, free breakfast did not have everything on the menu, noisy room - hard to sleep.
- darren (10/5): - The food was fantastic .
- Kevin (10/5): - Very helpful staff, good food
- Sherif (10/5): - Big bright room and bathroom with high ceilings
- Alison (10/5): - From arrival to departure the young staff were all wonderful. The service was exactly as you would want with the staff paying attention to when fresh drinks were required to serving the amazing food politely and with a friendly smile. The evening meal was superb and breakfast the next morning lovely. Our room was spacious and the king sized bed very comfortable. The shower room was large with a good sized shower. We have paid a lot more for less comfortable stays so well done to the Cults hotel for excellent service and great value for money.
- BRIAN (8/5): Dry Cults - Arrived late due to flight delay only to find bar had shut a few minutes previously at 10.30. Had to beg for a drink! Same story next night after a day out. Don't expect a bar drink after 10.30!
Nice room although on top floor and lift is not for able bodied residents.
Good location for a visit to Aberdeenshire.
- damien (10/5): Fantastic small hotel - Really enjoyed my stay at this little gem and will definitely return
- Louise (6/5): - The bedroom decor was reasonably modern, the ensuite needed renovation, it looked very tired and dated
- Steven (4/5): Cold start to the day - Good except no hot water in the shower or basin. Very poor and spoilt the stay. Not worth the money to stay if morning spoilt by the bad plumbing.
- James (10/5): - High standard of comfort and cleanliness with polite and attentive staff. Highly recommend.
- Kevin (6/5): Breakfast - Room heating was not on when arrived during cold snap and breakfast tea and toast cold
- Fiona (10/5): - A really excellent stay. Rooms well and very comfortably decorated, quiet and spacious. Food of very high standard, everything at breakfast cooked fresh to order / nothing sitting waiting. Beyond what you’d usually expect. Complemented by really really nice staff; evenings and mornings. I recommend
- Susan (10/5): - Very nice rooms, delicious breakfast
- Nicola (10/5): - Lovely stay!
- Susan (8/5): - I found it rather quaint and just a sweet change of luxury hotels.
- Nicola (4/5): Expected better - Room was very dated, dampness on ceiling and wallpaper peeling. Bathroom was dusty. Kettle was dirty. WiFi didn’t work.
- Dawn (10/5): Excellent business choice - As a sole business traveller this hotel never lets me down.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cults letdown - Food ok, room ok, bed a bit too hard for my liking but ok, what let the stay down was no staff on reception in the morning, queue of people having to wait to checkout and no invoices ready when told they would be. The only good experience staff wise was the young waitress, she was very attentive and smiled a lot.
- TAMBA (10/5): - Excellent location for transportation by bus. The only thing that needs improving is the internet service which was on and off during my 4-day stay. The staff did acknowledge the issue and say they were urgently working on it. Overall, excellent location and service!
- campbell (10/5): - Very nice rooms
- GURDEV (10/5): - The Cults Hotel is an Old Tradition hotel with a nice restaurant and bar.
Not a very big hotel but very neat and clean, besides the staff are very helpful.
The breakfast and food quality is excellent.
If you want to enjoy Scottish hospitality, this hotel is the right choice!
I will definitely recommend it.
- Lisa (6/5): Not bad - The bar and restaurant area is well presented and the staff are friendly. The room was FREEZING. I’m a native to Aberdeen and I had to sleep fully dressed. There’s a radiator in the room but no way to put it on. I put the radiator on in the bathroom to try and get warm but it didn’t flow in to the bedroom. The radiator cover was also broken and therefore it looked bad and unkempt.
- Simon (10/5): - Didn’t like the automatic air fresher in the room which was overly powerful. Hotel is otherwise nice and clean. Not much around hotel but on frequent bus routes into Aberdeen
- Walter (10/5): A great stay at a lovely hotel with amazing food. - Fantastic food to be had here. Realy enjoyed the evening meal and also the breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again if travelling through to Aberdeen.
Nice clean and fresh room with plenty amenities
- Ciaran (10/5): I wanna be in a Cult! - Exceptional, from start to finish, staff were fantastic and the restaurant was simply superb - one of the best meals i've had in years!
Can't recommend highly enough,
- Brian (10/5): - The staff was very professional and the reception girl went the extra mile this morning we went down for Breakfast at 8am this morning as we were Travelling back home to County Durham 6 hour Drive and she said if you can wait 5 minutes I will sort it for you so would like to thank all staff for a great 2 Day stay we will definitely be back 10/10
- Irvan (6/5): - Dissapointingly small room with no floor space for 1 suitcase. More than half the lights in the roof not working. Shower is good as long as the hotel is quiet otherwise you dance between hot and cold. Breakfast is fantastic and staff are friendly. Bed was firm, another plus.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Small friendly hotel with excellent local restaurant. Rooms were comfortable and immaculate. The food in the restaurant was exceptional.
- Alistair (8/5): Nice quiet little hotel. - Very comfortable room. Absolutely roasting day so far too hot at night Had to leave curtains open to let cool outside air in. Nothing the hotel could have done about that so no fault there. Shower was very powerful, very refreshing. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Would definatly reccomend.
- Karen Knight (10/5): - There were 4 of us in my group and we stayed in several hotels around Scotland and this was definitely our favourite hotel. Room with balcony was really nice, staff was great and restaurant food was delicious! Would definitely stay here again!!
- Jean (10/5): - Everything was perfect and as expected. We had dinner in their restaurant which was excellent. Breakfast was included and also very good.
- Peter (10/5): - Parking is a bit tricky.
- Simon (10/5): - Excellent staff and easy connection into Aberdeen city and out the other way to the beautiful countryside of Aberdeenshire. Really good stay.
- Theresa (6/5): - Hotel is in a nice area and easily accessible from motorway. The younger staff were very helpful and attentive particularly the young woman who checked me in and the younger staff in the restaurant. The menu and food was ok quality and price. However there is no parking at the hotel and only limited parking on the road outside the hotel for 45 minutes. There are a few spaces in front of the shops where you can park but not many. The hotel itself is in need of an upgrade. The carpets in the corridor and on the stairs and the decor is not great. There is a lift but you apparently need permission to use it and turn it on. There is a notice on the lift door. I was on the second floor which was ok for me but I had to carry bags etc upstairs. The room was described as Deluxe with balcony . It is basic with a very small balcony overlooking an allotment and tennis court above. No privacy so had to keep curtains closed at all times which made the room dark. I would avoid these rooms. Rooms at the front appeared to be brighter. It was an ok stay but you can definitely get better and more central for the same price nearer town.
- Quentin (6/5): - Well located but tired premises. I had dined in the Cults in the past and chose to stay here four years later on the basis of that good experience. Unfortunately, the hotel accommodation feels tired and in need of a refurbishment. I did not dine there on this occasion but the facilities look good.
- Tom (10/5): - every one was pleasant and helpful.
- Rosemary (8/5): Great breakfast. Pity about ‘thin walls’ - Very pleasant reception. Room unavailable with view at front… although not very busy at breakfast. Our room overlooked an allotment at back. Reason for poor score was the fact that we could hear every word spoken in the adjoining room-I’m deaf and they were not loud! Breakfast was freshly cooked-poached eggs perfect.
- Anton (10/5): Always excellent and good value - This was our fifth time to stay here. Great hotel. Comfy beds. Controllable heating so you can cool the room nice little balcony overlooking local tennis courts and allotments. Could get their own electric car charger for guests though ...
- Richard (10/5): Gem of a hotel - Great hotel, affordable and very quiet and clean. Staff were all very friendly
- Stephen (8/5): - I had room no.7 which was not the normal room I am given. This room is not to the same standard as the other rooms
- Kathryn (10/5): - My room was beautifully appointed and roomy with a bath. The nicest room I have stayed in since visiting Scotland early September.
- Michael (6/5): OK at best - It was kind of OK. The TV didn’t work on many channels, the bed noisy and uncomfortable, no shelf in the bathroom to put any of your toiletries. Good things the balcony, wardrobe and amenities.
- Gillian (8/5): - The staff were really lovely and attentive during our stay.
- Eamonn (10/5): - very helpful friendly staff, food was good quality produce and very well presented
