• Jonne (10/5): - We've had a great stay at the Sweet Potato Homestay. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed by the family and were well taken care of. The food and breakfast were great (100% recommend the fish with passion fruit sauce!!) and the rooms simple but clean with great beds and cosy. We had only planned our trip up until our stay at Cat Ba so were still figuring out what we wanted to do on the island and after. The hosts were beyond helpful in planning our next excursions and plans for Vietnam. They booked tours on the island for us, booked busses to other parts of the country and helped put together an itinerary for the Ha Giang loop. We could not have been more happy with our stay!

• Vít (9/5): - Awesome homestay with very nice host, clean rooms and great breakfast. The host family helped us with laundry and to a rent a bike. And there were a lot of really young puppies! Not amazing location, you need a bike to get to the city or other landmarks.
• Filipe Henry (8/5): - Comme partout au Vietnam les hôtes sont très arrangeant pour tout d'une gentillesse incroyable. Tout était très bien, le seul bémol, la localisation est un peu excentré de tout j'y ai passé 2 nuits j'étais vraiment seul dans l'auberge donc moins évident pour rencontrer du monde quand on voyage seul. Mais location de scooter très peu cher , très bien dans l'ensemble.

• Alex (10/5): Would stay again!! - Amazing hosts from the moment we booked! They helped organise travel, trips, bespoke tours and everything in-between, the restaurant in house makes it the perfect stay away from the busy areas.
• Juliette (8/5): - The owners are helpful and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. The noise of the road and maybe the music in the reception is a bit too loud sometimes.
• Leonie (8/5): Wir würden es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. - Die Familie ist total nett und macht den Aufenthalt richtig schön und gemütlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Für Abendessen dort können wir die Pizza empfehlen falls man Mal Lust hat auf ein europäisches Essen. Ohne Klimaanlage wurde es ziemlich warm im Zimmer. Aber wenn man gerne mit Klimaanlage schläft ist es kein Problem weil diese einwandfrei funktioniert.

• Marlene (10/5): Sweet and comfortable homestay - Such a sweet and comfortable homestay. It's not right in the city but with a scooter or bike or even by foot very easily reachable. The beach is also just a 25 min walk away. The owners were super helpful and friendly and gave me great advice on my upcoming travels. Delicious breakfast, which was included in the price. Sweet little outside terrace with a view. Everything was clean and great. Next time I'm coming to Cat Ba I am definitely gonna stay at Sweet Potato Homestay again. Not much.
• Vitali (9/5): Super séjour avec personnel attentionné. - Le rapport qualité prix est plus qu’honnête et le personnel est très attentionné et gentil. Il m’ont aidés a organiser mes excursions et à réserver mon bus de départ à un prix imbattable. Possibilité de louer un scooter également. Nourriture sur place très bonne et bon marché. La localisation n’est pas rêvée mais très rapide d’accéder aux points d’intérêt avec le scooteur loué sur place.

• Isabella (7/5): Sehr freundlich aber leider unter den Erwartungen - Die Familie war sehr nett und hat uns bei Bootstour, Taxi und Weiterfahrt mit dem Bus geholfen. Wir sind in der Früh angekommen und konnten direkt einchecken (wegen der Baustelle vor dem Haus, war der frühe Checkin für uns kostenlos). Das Zimmer hatte nur Fenster in den Flur. Immer wenn wir zurück kamen am Abend, war die Sicherung raus. Trotz der Klimaanlage war das Zimmer dadurch immer feucht. Bettlaken hatten Flecken. Zu Fuß dauert es eine Stunde in's Stadtzentrum entlang der Straße.

• Xuân-Lyse (10/5): - La famille qui nous accueille est très sympathique. Le père nous a aidé a réservé un bus depuis Hanoï et sur l’île une excursion en bateau. Les chambres sont biens et la nourriture aussi.
• Nienke (8/5): Nice cheap homestay outside of Cat Ba center - Homestay bij vriendelijk gezin. Prima ontbijt en OK kamer, zeker voor de prijs. Bij aankomst deed de airco het niet maar dat was vrij snel opgelost. In de buurt is niet heel veel te doen maar je kan een scooter huren bij de homestay zelf wat aan te raden is. Ook zijn er een aantal honden en katten rond het huis. In de omschrijving stond dat er gratis fietsen waren, maar bij navraag waren die er al jaren niet meer. Ligt aan een drukke weg die je overdag kan horen.

• ChrissiD. (6/5): - Die Lage ist wie beschrieben etwas außerhalb der Stadt, jedoch mit dem Roller in 10 Minuten zu erreichen. Ansonsten war es nicht wirklich sauber (vorallem Boden und Bad). Das Frühstück war ok. Die Familie war sehr freundlich und wir konnten einen Roller vor Ort mieten. Allerdings war der Preis von 100.000 VND für den kurzen Transport von 10 Minuten in die Stadt unverhältnismäßig, aber da es vor Ort kein Grab gibt alternativlos. Siehe oben

• Maria del Pilar (10/5): - La familia era muy amable y atenta, nos ayudaron a hablar con la agencia del bus el día que nos íbamos para que nos vinieran a buscar directamente al homestay, también para llegar nos informó que bus coger y nos dio indicaciones para que el conductor nos dejara al lado. Nos alquilaron una moto a buen precio. Los dueños hablaban inglés fluido y te recomendaba que zonas visitar. Las camas eran muy cómodas, el baño estaba limpio. Estaba un poco alejado de la zona del centro por lo cual te hacía depender de la moto, pero salvo eso todo genial.

C'est excentré du centre mais si vous participez aux excursions qu'ils proposent on vous récupère devant l'auberge. Sinon libre à vous de louer un scooter. • Driss (10/5): Outstanding. - Trang was a lovely host. She was helpful, lovely, generous with her time. Her husband too, was very gentle, kind and caring. Both helped in any way they could. Their whole family was nice to be with. The location, 4 kms from town, was lovely, and we hired a motorbike there, to get around. The national park was close, and very convenient. We will return if we can. There was nothing not to like.

Ook de excursies zijn bij hun goedkoper als via een bookings kantoor. Als ik er iets neer moet zetten is het lampje boven het bed die was kapot

• rozenberg (9/5): - The family is very friendly and speak English quite well. The owner is a cook and his food is delicious. They also have puppies of one month old. Everything is very affordable. The cleanliness was also very good for Vietnamese standards (we are from the Netherlands which is just insanely clean). Too make it perfect drinking water could be supplied.

• Daniel (4/5): Cleaning issues but hosts were lovely - The hosts were very lovely people and helpful whenever we asked. The location was good as long as you can ride a bike otherwise it’s a little out of the center. Food was good at the property. The room was generally not clean, unfortunately there were stains on the sheets and it was dirty under the bed (we saw unhygienic items under the bed from previous guests that showed the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly). The shower was cold and a hole in the bathroom to outside meant a huge spider found it’s way into our bathroom - however once we complained about this, they moved us. There was also quite a few mosquitos about the rooms.
• Lena (8/5): Sehr freundliche hilfsbereite Gastgeber - Die Gastgeber sind sehr hilfsbereit. Es wurden super Touren und die Weiterfahrt für uns organisiert. Wir konnten ganz unkompliziert einen super funktionierenden und schnellen Roller ausleihen. Die Zimmer sind einfach, aber sauber. Es gibt eine Dachterrasse zum gemütlichen Sitzen. Wir bekamen frisches Obst aus dem eigenen Garten. Es gibt eine kleine Babykatze - sehr süß. Die Unterkunft liegt an einer großen Straße, an der die Laster vorbeibrausen. Um in die Stadt zu kommen braucht man einen Roller. Das ist aber eigentlich kein Problem, da man in der Unterkunft unkompliziert einen ausleihen kann.

C'est sur la route de la réserve naturelle de Cat Ba, très accessible en scooter. A savoir même si c'est assez visible, c'est a côté d'une route mais cela n'a pas posé de souci pour nous! On nous a bien aidés pour une croisière sur la baie et un trajet en bus... A recommander Rien

The family were absolutely lovely and spoke amazing English, the food at the restaurant and for breakfast was amazing (we tried the fish with the passion fruit sauce after a recommendation from one of the reviews and it was incredible), and the property itself was spacious with lots of areas to relax. We have to mention the cute animals as well, a small dog and kitten which were so friendly! We would 100% come back here. We didn’t mind this at all, and it is clear on the description as well but just a reminder that the location is as described so hiring a motorbike with the Homestay (like we did) or already having a motorbike would be preferable :)
