• Daniel (10/5): - At Quinta da Gricha, I stayed with a group of friends and it was an absolutely exceptional experience. The accommodation offers only four rooms, and since we occupied three of them, we practically had the whole place to ourselves, which created a wonderfully private and relaxed atmosphere. The care and hospitality we received from Guilherme were unlike anything we’ve experienced anywhere else. He was incredibly welcoming and genuine, and throughout our stay we felt as if he was one of us, not just a host. And the views? They are simply indescribable — breathtaking from every corner of the property. I’ll just repeat myself: PERFECTION!!! 👌

Don’t be, it is a wonderful experience. Guilherme and Telemo will make you feel right at home. And the view….photos cannot do it justice. Both Guilherme and Telemo provide wonderful wine tasting. They are very knowledgeable about the local wines and the area. Also great effort as a concierge getting other restaurant reservations for us. • Laurie (10/5): Quinta da Gricha exceeded our expectations, we loved it! - The location among the rolling hills of the Douro, overlooking the river is magical. Very private with only 4 rooms and 8 maximum guests. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating, they met our every need. Common areas are beautiful, especially the terrace. Rooms are large and comfortable, the food delicious. A bit off the beaten track but well worth the extra twists and turns.

A vista dos quartos para o Douro faz com que o tempo passe devagar e valha cada segundo e as áreas comuns parecem nossa casa, dada a simpatia da equipe e a forma como o hotel se organiza. O honest bar também é um convite a provar um pouco mais da região com liberdade e no seu tempo. Voltarei com toda certeza! O café da manhã tinha pouca opção de frutas e só um tipo de queijo. No mais, uma delícia.

Once you brave the winding roads to get to the property, you are rewarded with the most stunningly beautiful backdrop that looks like it is straight out of a Hollywood movie. The patio overlooking the vineyard and The Douro Valley River are simply breathtaking, the perfect location for a Port & Wine tasting!!! We decided to partake in the Day at Quinta da Gricha activity option, which I would highly recommend! This included a delicious traditional Portuguese lunch, Port & Wine tasting, & a guided tour though the vineyard!!! The Staff & Tour Guide Guymon (please forgive me if the spelling is incorrect) was exceptional in every way! He instantly relieved our stress from the drive & provided us with kindness, Knowledge of the vineyard, the history of the Douro Valley, and a short explaination of how Port & Wine are made & processed. I would highly recommend this property, but the staff is what truly make it beyond compare The drive was nerve wrecking and difficult to find.

Staff proactively asked us whether we would want them to wash and dry our clothes without charge. They later lit the fire for us as the only guests. Food served in a nice “living room setting”. • Charmin (10/5): You won’t ever regret staying here! - The Quinta da Gricha is beautifully appointed, set it the Douro Valley, with helpful staff, delicious food and wine! They exceeded expectations! Driving there was no problem for my husband, but with narrow roads, few to no guardrails, and lots of switchbacks, I was quite anxious. By the time we left, my fear of heights was (nearly) forgotten as the views are truly spectacular!! Totally worth it!

Dinner was delicious. The entry road requires some concentration - just take it slow around the corners incase a car is coming the other way. We managed it in a hatchback rental car. Try to avoid arriving at night as it gets quite dark on the road.

Como não o tinha feito já não podia jantar e o restaurante mais próximo ficava a 30 minutos de carro (isto numa estrada de terra sem grande luz). Disse que poderiam ter tido o cuidado de me ligar, ou mandar uma mensagem por telemóvel, a alertar para o facto de ter que escolher um prato com 24 horas de antecedência. O rapaz da receção olhou para mim e nada disse, como quem diz isso é um problema teu não meu. Felizmente o Guilherme, posteriomente, demonstrou como se recebem pessoas (com a simpatia e o calor do norte) e o mau estar passou.

The community kitchen where you can grab anything whenever you like make sense but at least water should be available at the room. It doesn't make sense to have to leave your room in a middle of the time to get water. The breakfast is very basic: only one juice, one yogurt flavour, only croissant as pastry, only scramble egg as hot food, if you want an expresso it's only available on a different room, only one type of cheese. 260€ a night it's completly overprice.

• Julia (10/5): Stunning views and a home from home feel - Situated at the end of a beaten track, literally, you feel a sense of peace and calmness at this Quinta. Beautifully decorated throughout with large spacious rooms it’s really a home from home. And you are encouraged to treat it as so. The staff are super friendly and we enjoyed learning about the history of the property and of course tasting their ports and still wines. The views from every window and the large terrace are simply breathtaking. We enjoyed relaxing by the infinity pool and drinking in the views. I was possibly interested in booking it exclusively for two nights for my 60th birthday next year and Guilherme was really helpful in suggesting local activities and trips we could incorporate into our schedule and ideas for meals as there is no restaurant on site. I’m pleased to say I’ve gone ahead with the booking and can’t wait to relax and celebrate there with my girlfriends next year. Not really a negative but with no restaurant you need to give some thought to meals particularly dinner. You can preorder from a nearby restaurant which is quite famous but the food is quite rustic which may not be to everyone’s tastes. However the staff will willingly offer alternatives if you contact them in advance.

• Liz (10/5): Gloriious hide-awayq - Quinta da Gricha is really special. It is super quiet with views from every generous room over the Douro river (which you can easily walk to) and vineyards. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and there was a delicious breakfast every day. The evening meals from a local restaurant were substantial and tasty. I recommend the salad , wild boar and ham hock too. Guilherme's tour and history were excellent and the port tasting unique! The garden is perfect for morning yoga by the pool! All exquisite

• Maria (10/5): Paradise in the Douro Valley - We had a wonderful stay at Quinta da Gricha. We have stayed at other properties in the Douro Valley, but this one is in a class of its own. We felt like we were transported back in time. Walking among the vineyards, lounging by the pool, dining on the terrace overlooking the river - it was all so relaxing. Thank you to Telmo, Andreia and the rest of the staff for making our stay extra-special!
• Adrienne (10/5): Beautiful boutique estate with warm staff, stunning views, and 5 star hospitality - One of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. Stunning property, warm and knowledgeable staff (shout out Guilherme, you are the best!) and delicious breakfast spread. The room was spacious with a beautiful view, and the pool is unforgettable. You can hike around the property and down to the river which was lovely. Don’t miss the wine tour / port tasting, it was the best tour I’ve ever had. You can order dinner on the property, they bring it in from a local restaurant and serve on the patio with the incredible view. Pair with their wine for a one of a kind experience. Truly a perfect, luxurious getaway. I can’t wait to visit again! Nothing. It was perfect!

Everything was amazing.

• Emily (10/5): - It’s hard to put into words how beautiful, peaceful and serene this property is. We stayed here for 2 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were very friendly, food and wine delicious, and the property was truly stunning. We spent an amazing day by the pool overlooking the gorgeous vineyard. They offer a delicious breakfast and in the evenings an amazing dinner menu. I also saw a lot of reviews complaining about the narrow roads and I feel i need to clarify for anyone worried about this - the roads were absolutely fine, there are endless spots to pull over if needed. I cannot recommend Quinta da Gricha enough to anyone looking to stay in the area. One of the most picturesque spots in the whole valley.
• Michael (8/5): - Leider war der Pool während unseres Aufenthaltes veralgt, die Pumpe funktionierte offenbar nicht. Das bestellte Essen wird aus dem Ort angeliefert. Hauptspeise war sehr gut. Vorspeise und Nachspeise eher lieblos. Zwei Salatblätter und eine Tomate aufgeschnitten und Nachspeise ein Kuchen mit Portwein getränkt. Wird als 3 Gänge Menue verkauft. Dafür zu teuer. Würden dann eher im Ort essen gehen. Frühstück war dafür sehr köstlich.

• Katrina (10/5): The most special find - Quinta da Gricha is one of those special places that you sometimes stumble upon. What exquisite service. Our view overlooking the most dramatic aspect of the Douro Valley was amazing but. There was so much more. Impeccable service, custom regional dinner with wine from the estate vineyards, the beautiful natural pool that we had all to ourselves, and the lovely staff every single person whether working on the kitchen garden and the vineyards or making the breakfast or greeting us and helping us discover. This was a level above - kindness, value, and quality. We discovered something here unlike every generic hotel you’ve ever been. There is nothing like snapping a ripe orange off the tree as you watch the stunning sunset. Thank you! Obrigada!

• SARAH (10/5): - If you want a quiet, beautiful, and restful hotel, this is it. The breakfast is amazing. One day we stayed at the property and just walked through the vinyards, picked oranges and lemons, read on the veranda and took a tour of the winery. Everyone who works here is lovely and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is a little bit of a drive into town, but it is worth it!
