Guest Reviews
- Lane (10/5): - Excellent over night accommodations. The staff were friendly and the bar was authentic. Both the supper and breakfast were delicious. The room was well stocked and clean. Thanks for a great stay
- Jennifer (10/5): - This was just what we needed for our night in Kilmartin - good food, good ambiance, and directly across the street from the Kilmartin museum and an old church with medieval grave slabs. We stayed in the Winter Room - it might be helpful to know that this room has 2 bedrooms - one with two twin beds, and another room with a double and a single. The room was somewhat dated but was perfectly cozy and we enjoyed our stay.
- Kristen (10/5): - Charming inn, very clean and comfortable. Great food and bar.
- John (10/5): - Ok
- Fanny (8/5): - Great place in Kilmartin to stop for the night on your way to your next stop. Right by a free museum. Excellent food at the hotel, both breakfast and dinner. Staff is super friendly, showing the hospitality of the Scottish people.
- Paul (8/5): - The property is situated overlooking Kilmartin glen, which couldn’t be any better.
Both the exterior and interior are in need of TLC ,but this can be forgiven by the warmth of the staff , and the good food that is available.
I would certainly visit again.
- Andrew (10/5): - Fab hotel wuth friendly staff. My room was perfect and was comfortable and clean. The bar was very traditional and had real ales.
- Keith (8/5): - Nice stay. Food was good, staff very friendly, hotel a little tired in places, but didn't detract from the stay and would definitely use again
- Andrew (10/5): - I had a great stay. The staff were helpful and the vegan food optipns were really good.
- Leigh (8/5): - Friendly staff. small but cosy and clean room. Food was decent
- Christopher (10/5): - It was amazing! The people, the friendliness of the town and the history. We loved this treasure of a place.
- Jennifer (8/5): Great place to stay - Kilmartin inn was a great stay with great food and friendly staff. There is a lot to see walking and driving in the area.
- Arlene (10/5): - Thankyou
- Jacob (10/5): - Excellent care taken .
- Robin (4/5): Helpful staff but tired - Staff were very helpful and friendly I arrived late due to bad weather after kitchen closed but Tony did me a meal was very grateful for that
The place itself However is very tired and run down quite scruffy really does definitely not warrant the room rate
- Miss (8/5): - No frills, very basic. Staff pleasent. Food was good.
- Gregory (10/5): - We spent three weeks touring the UK, and never stayed in the same place twice. This was absolutely one of our favorite stays. Nice friendly pub, we had a delicious supper, and full English breakfast.
This could easily be a destination stay.
- Christine (8/5): - Wonderful location, great breakfast, comfortable room and excellent evening meal. Really enjoyed our stay.
- Andrea (10/5): Great Hospitality - The hospitality, food and service were all excellent. The hotel desperately needs redecoration. The outside looks quite shabby. The All Seasons room which we stayed in was also in need of redecoration. There was no shower, just a bath and no way to wash your hair. The hot water was very slow to arrive.
Even so we really enjoyed our stay and would happily go back. The staff were ultra efficient and very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Kilmartin - Very nice room and good food.
The bedroom door lock was a bit difficult. The curtains could not be drawn for night time - the curtain consisted of 3 pieces.
- Mark (10/5): - The Inn has been around for a couple hundred years, so it's bound to show a little wear, but the staff and food were excellent and the location fabulous, with a lot of Scottish history nearby.
- Charlene (10/5): Delightful experience - We had a wonderful stay at Kilmartin Hotel. It is a charming older hotel with good food, delightful pub and totally outstanding service. Would gladly stay there again!
- george (10/5): - lovely staff great place
- Emma (10/5): - Lovely staff, immaculately clean room. Really beautiful corner of Scotland and I had a very restful night sleep. Really good variety on the restaurant menu, and delicious fish and chips.
- Gavin (10/5): Work stay over - Very friendly staff and great food and room was spotless with a comfy bed and and a powerfull shower Richard was flexible with breakfast time but as I've stayed before he makes sure if you are leaving before breakfast starts there is a really good packed lunch ready for you when you leave
- Ryan (10/5): Nice Kilmartin rest spot - This is a very old, quaint building in Kilmartin. The lady who runs it is very nice. The room was tiny - definitely very tight for two. I was solo, so it was fine. The bead was clean and comfy and that’s all I cared about that night. The bathroom is also very small but it all worked as needed. Kilmartin itself is amazing and worth a visit. So, this hotel suits the bill very nicely. Next time I would go down to the bar and hang out with the locals, Seemed like a very interesting bunch.
- Jeannie (6/5): Disappointing - Food was good & offered great flexibility. However, this did not outweigh the shabbiness of the place. Entering through a very tired pub door, parking was not great & being on a main road, it was very noisy. No shower & wallpaper in bedroom looked like it was from 1960’s!
- Judith (6/5): - The location is stunning. The large size of our room was very good. However, although this is a very old property it is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment and update from the 1970's to modernise and refresh. Breakfast was ok but limited choice. We didn't eat an evening meal but our first impressions when walking into the small bar, we were pleased to be eating elsewhere that evening
- Ronald (8/5): - Very comfortable, no nonsense country hotel. Excellent staff, good restaurant. Perfect location for exploring the glen.
- Colleen (10/5): - Friendly, clean, delicious food, great location!
- Wai Hing (8/5): - Everything was fine except the bed sides were too soft that you would be afraid of falling down when you are close to the sides. The breakfast was ok which served with a lot crispy toasts but the others was a bit oily.
- Iain (10/5): - 👍
- V (10/5): 40 ANN WED - Great time
- sara (10/5): - I loved this hotel! The rooms are huge and very quiet. There is a lively pub below that serves great food and has wonderful people in it. There is parking for guests or free parking accross the street. There are some cool Bronze Age cairns and stones that are within easy walking distance. The breakfast was fantastic as well. I recommend everyone stop here on their way to the highlands or to invarary castle especially if it’s a weekend. Well worth it! I will be back
- Cynthia (6/5): - This hotel does need some love and care. It is a quaint sweet little town with some incredible ancient history. I hope the hotel can continue to thrive with the new museum going in across the road. But it definitely needs updating and refurbishments. The staff is excellent and the food (both dinner and breakfast) were very good.
- Kevin (10/5): - My room was nice and clean and there was a bar down stairs so one can have a beer and dinner as well. So all in all , after a long day on the road on my motorcycle it was a great place to stay
- Laura (10/5): - I stayed two nights in the Kilmartin Hotel to walk the pre-historic sites in the area. Because I was on foot and there's not much else in town, I ended up eating 5 meals in a row at the hotel. Every one of them was good: two Scottish breakfasts, steak and ale pie, curry of the day, and smoked salmon salad. I loved this place and the people. The owner, Richard, is a truly good hard-working local guy and his staff are very friendly and attentive. In the bar at night, the locals are super nice and it's great not to be surrounded by other tourists. The hotel is 360 years old. If you're looking for modern and sparkling, this isn't your place, but if you're looking for warmth and authenticity, this is it. I was worried the noise from the bar might keep me up, but upstairs in my room I couldn't hear a thing and slept well in the comfy bed. I was on the 3rd floor (no lift) and up there were no showers (don't know about 2nd floor) but after a day of hiking in the mist a hot bath was just the ticket! The bus from Oban stops directly at the hotel. Highly recommend!
- Carol (4/5): - Staff were nice, but unable to get toilet in room working. Cut our stay short.
- Cassandra (10/5): - Great 1 night stay. Comfortable bed and the pub/restaurant has good food. Lovely cooked breakfast included.
- Laura (10/5): - Wonderful staff and delicious food! Spacious room (winter).
- Richard (8/5): - Plastic windows allow no escape on the top story.
- Janice (8/5): - Excellent location, welcoming staff, the food was delicious. Clean comfortable bed and plenty hot water.
Room need a bit of freshening up
- Aaron (8/5): Great Team - Richard and the team were great. The food was excellent and the Scottish breakfast was fabulous. The room (All-seasons) is in desperate need of an over-haul. Struggled with the lock on the door at first but got the gist of it in the end. The bed was very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had.
- Janet (10/5): - Just what we wanted, well used local amenity, hub of the community but attention to details for visitors was excellent. Meals were varied, always delicious and us vegetarians were well catered for. Very comfortable room with great views. A lovely break
- JOHN (4/5): - Room was very small. Hotel dining room was good, but rest of property needs renovation
- Alan (10/5): A good place to stay, a good place to dine. - Enjoyable weekend stay, ideal for the ancient Kilmartin sites. Also ideal for me, close to Craobh Haven Marina, for my diving weekend. I particularly enjoyed the bar service and traditional Scottish food prepared with an original, creative style & twist.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Historic ... in need of renovations.... v friendly
- Debbie (10/5): - Fantastic hotel . So friendly anf welcoming
- Thomas (4/5): Food great - accommodation dismal - The food in this hotel was above average, very tasty, reasonably priced and appeared to be quality fresh produce. The hotel itself was shabby and not seen a duster in a while, cobwebs and dust everywhere, bedroom very shabby, poorly finished and the most uncomfortable bed in the world.
- David.B (6/5): - The exterior of the hotel was old fashioned and quaint which was appealing. On arrival we were checked in by friendly staff in the hotel bar which was cosy and welcoming.
Due to covid restrictions we could not be taken to our room but that wasn't a problem. The staff at dinner who served and welcomed us to the dining room was really lovely, funny & friendly, making us feel really welcome and comfortable.
Likewise at breakfast on both mornings. The food was delicious. There was also a beer garden with heater should we have wished to have a drink.
The location at the top of Kilmartin Glen was great. Easy walking access to country walks asking paths to the surrounding standing stones and cairns. The old kirk and Kirkyard across the road was beautiful.
Easy driving to lots of local beauty spots, beaches and canals and Lochs.
Sadly the room itself was a big let down.
It was badly in need of a deep clean and makeover. I won't list everything that was wrong or what let it down but literally everything in the room and ensuite needs cleaned, updated, replaced and repaired.
There was a sign on stairwell staying that works were being done... So hopefully Spring Room is on the list!
We would love to return, but the room would put us off... So hoping the room receives the TLC and makeover it needs.
Staff were lovely , friendly and welcoming and couldn't have been better.
Food was great too ... Just need to sort that room out. .. and it would be an awesome place to stay. 😌😌😌
- Theresa (8/5): - The staff and management were very welcoming. I felt it was relaxed and made me feel at ease. The location is amazing. Right next to historic stones and circles. I would come back again xxx
- Douglas (8/5): - Excellent property in a very convenient position for visiting various places - food is top class and staff are very helpful
- Mo&Dan (10/5): - we really enjoyed in this hotel, room is a bit dated, but very clean. the staff was very friendly and helpful, they are also very friendly to our beloved puppy.
the food was excellent.
the surrounding is stunning!!
we would go back to stay over there.
- George (8/5): - Hotel very friendly lovely breakfast plenty hot water in room. The only downside was the mattress on the bed is past it’s sell buy date completely done at one side no support and springs all popping up but that’s the only complaint so don’t have the summer room till this has been rectified. We have stayed here numerous times and that’s our only complaint
- Nikita (8/5): Great place to stay - Comfortable accomodation in atmospheric old bulding. Close to archeological monuments of Kilmartin Glen. Cleanliness is fair.
- Daniel (10/5): Lovely highland hotel - Lovely little highland hotel with a lovely pub attached, good food, great beer. The owner is also lovely and did everything to make my stay excellent.
- Chris (8/5): - Very friendly and welcoming to a tired cyclist! Food was just to the standard needed, not too posh but beautifully prepared.
- Anna (10/5): Strongly recommend - The Kilmartin Hotel is located in a beautiful and fascinating part of Scotland. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent and very good value. All in all we had a great time.
- William (10/5): Great Inn for a Family Road Trip Around Scotland - Very cozy little inn, with tasty pub food and a very helpful, kind staff. The breakfast included was extra-high quality and generous in portions. Highly recommend.
- Martin (10/5): Warm local hotel with great food - A very friendly country inn and pub - this hotel is the hub of the small local community. The food is a standout experience with a great range of options and very tasty.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very dirty. Black mould in shower room. Disgusting carpets especially on stairs and marked bed skirts and walls. Electric kettle does not turn off. Exposed wires on overhead light. Tape holding in window panes. Damp patches in bedroom ceilings. Breakfast was deep fried. Needs completely renovated and cleaned properly.
- Roderick (8/5): - Charming old hotel, it is showing its age but a very pleasant place to stay nonetheless.
