- Denise (9/5): Fantastisch hotel in rustige omgeving - Een heerlijk hotel met prachtige ligging en alles tot in de puntjes geregeld. We hadden een fijne kamer met groot tweepersoonsbed en een balkon. Je kijkt uit over de baai en het lijkt net of je in het regenwoud zit. Heel groen en veel vogels. Heerlijk rustig. St Peter Port is ongeveer 30 min lopen met een steile heuvel. Met de taxi ongeveer 10 min voor 12 euro. Het ontbijt was fantastisch!! Een klein buffet en een kaart waar je kunt kiezen uit heerlijke gerechten. Het voelt toch wat luxer dan een ontbijtbuffet. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk en we hebben veel met ze gelachen. Het voelde wat kleinschaliger en persoonlijker aan dan een echt groot hotel. Het eiland zelf hebben we verkend met een elektrische fiets. Goed te doen! Ze brengen de fietsen naar het hotel en halen ze weer op.

Shabby decor, bald patches on wallpaper, damage to the ceiling , No plugs near bed. TV mounted below hip level (??) no WiFi code left in room. Kettle in the wardrobe on a shelf (?) plugged in. Bedroom door let so much light in from the corridor all night. Plus a terrible Noise most of the evening from a machine or similar. Very noisy when windows opened for air. Small Bathroom sink would barely drain and looked like an airplane WC of ancient moulded plastic. So disappointing for such an expensive stay and the food quality in the Rock Garden was terrible. So so overpriced all in all.

- Jonathan (8/5): Great hotel but expensive - The location was gorgeous and the hotel was of a high standard. The room was spacious and the WiFi was fine. The high quality breakfast was great and replenished even minutes before breakfast was supposed to end. Our room was above the kitchen, which meant loud extractor fans until 10pm or more, and kitchen staff who turned the radio up to be heard above the extractor fans. We actually thought the room was above a night club on the first night! While I appreciate that there is nothing that can be done about fans, certainly something can be done about the loud music. Why can’t staff use ear buds to listen to music?

I stayed in a treehouse room, which was really nicely appointed and decorated and the breakfast was lovely. The staff were all outstandingly good - every single person was super friendly and helpful, which has a hugely positive impact - I hope they are really appreciated by Hand Picked Hotels as they're a massive asset!

- Joanne (8/5): Overall it was a lovely hotel but they could be better! - The Hotel was situated with amazing views and coastal walk to town. Sadly the pool was closed. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and you needed to wait for a long time. It also seemed very strange that the hotel bar was not open in the evening. Considering most places shut early it would have been nice to sit on their veranda with a drink taking in the beautiful scenery.

Le restaurant du soir n'etait pas à niveau par rapport aux autres services de l'hotel. Un decalage de standart evident et surprenant. Nous sommes alles à l'exterieur notament au Deerhound ou au Copenhaguen. Le restaurant de plage est formidable et tres bien tenu.

- Sarah (7/5): Idyllic rustic treehouse stay - The location of this hotel is superb, on the hill side overlooking the sea. There are beautiful gardens, so you can sit on the spacious terrace in the sunshine, listening to the birds. Its very peaceful, tranquil and relaxing. The decor of the hotel was attractive, modern, fresh, "boutique hotel" style, elegant and comfortable The breakfast menu had a fabulous choice of delicious breakfast, all freshly prepared to order. We enjoyed working our way through all the delicious healthy options on offer We stayed in the treehouses, set in the trees, which were in a modern, but rustic style. Despite our comments in the section below, it was a fun novel way to spend a couple of nights We had cocktails on the balcony of the on site mexican restaurant , which was vibrant and buzzy, and clearly very popular with non hotel guests Our treehouse bedroom was very dark inside with inadequate lighting. There was minimal storage. Unfortunately due to its location, there were a couple of big spiders. The window film meant that in the daytime we could see out, but no one could see in, but at night this was reversed, so it felt a bit goldfish bowl. Luckily we had the end room, so no one going past us. You do have to walk past other people sitting on their decks, to get to your treehouse, so there is not much privacy. The hot tub next to our room was not working, when we opened it, it was dirty and full of insects. Even if not operational it should be kept clean. The pool was not open and we had to go to a sister hotel that was 15 minutes drive away, which did have lovely facilities. However this was not convenient, as we prefer a swim before breakfast. We would not have booked this hotel if we d known. The food at the mexican restaurant was very average

I was upgraded to a room with a balcony and I loved it, tv - This hotel is small and friendly and in a peaceful location away from the town and a short walk to a beautiful beach. The pool wasn’t open and no spa facilities.

Would have been ideal if some sort of discount was offered because the pool was broken. If not a discount some sort of transport offered that would have got us to the site where their facilities were working. We had the afternoon tea however, something did go wrong and we had to wait for just over an hour for it. However, the staff were communicative and offered a discount to the afternoon tea bill which was appreciated.

- Chris (9/5): Lovely Easter weekend in beautiful Fermain Bay. - The staff all go out of their way to be helpful. A special thank you goes to the Queen of Madeira - Catia on reception. The breakfast deserves a special mention. We tried several of the dishes during our stay and all were delicious. My personal favourite - smoked mackerel with scrambled eggs. Plus, the hotel is in a blissfully quiet location. Nothing comes to mind. The only niggle I can think of is the background music which plays from 7AM to 11PM every day in all public parts of the hotel. We were in one of the rooms above the Ocean Restaurant and you could just hear it in the background. We got used to it after a while but personally, I don't think the music adds anything to the ambience around the hotel.

- Neil (9/5): Exceptional Guernsey retreat! - The property is of extremely high standard and staff service is exceptional. The location is great for active and mobile people, being on a steep hillside, there are many levels and stairs to negotiate and if you enjoy the beach or cliff side walks then expect the same - I was very happy! I stayed just 2 nights and I found that not all facilities were open both days/nights. Slightly inconvenient.

We booked this hotel because it had 3 restaurants + bars and tea rooms. But only 1 restaurant was open and that was Mexican ( which was very nice to use once) but was not actually connected or within the hotel itself, you had to walk out of the hotel and up a hill to get to it. We also prior to arriving booked a table at the restaurant via the hotel reception but this never got relayed ? but luckily they found room for us. We were looking forward to having evening drinks in the hotel and watching the sunset and using the restaurants on-site, but this was not possible. We were not the only guests that were disappointed about the facilities being closed on a weekend.

- Elisabeth (9/5): Un cadre idyllique et un petit déjeuner délicieux - Comme la piscine n'était plus praticable nous avons pu profiter de celle du St Pierre à 4km, accompagnée d'un spa, et avons été surclassés dans une chambre avec balcon et vue sur la vallée. Le lit était grand et très confortable, la chambre bien équipée et le petit déjeuner fabuleux. La vallée est calme, on n'entend pas trop les avions (contrairement à une bonne partie de l'île) et tout près de St Peter Port. Le restaurant (steak House) sert de la viande délicieuse.

- Kirsty (10/5): BEST HOTEL ON THE ISLAND (ACCORDING TO ME AND THE LOCALS)! - We stayed for 4 nights (one unexpectedly) and the staff throughout the whole stay could not do enough for us. The rooms are clean and comfortable with lots of amenities. The views and gardens are beautiful. There are lots of little nooks and crannies to curl up with a coffee and book. Very relaxing stay and only half hour walk into town. The pebble beach nearby is also a good start for the coastal walks. Pool and changing rooms could perhaps be a bit warmer.

It was warm/comfortable and the spec of all the appliances and the decor etc was perfect! Room service was amazing as I didn’t want to leave the room much to socialise so having dinner bought to me was exactly what I needed! The bed was comfortable, and the black out curtains meant I had a great nights sleep every evening - it was so peaceful and I loved that you could walk straight out onto the cliffs! The staff were so friendly and always keen to help :) Nothing - I loved it all!

- Graeme (8/5): Great location, but hotel gave the impression of being in off season mode. - Friendly efficient staff served food well prepared and hot on arrival at table. Anything extra was provided on request in timely manner. The dining area was clean and well provisioned. In the evening most of the restaurants seemed to be closed as were the bars. Choice was limited when it came to evening meals. This was disappointing given this is a four star hotel.
- alan (9/5): Great short stay - Friendly professional staff, reception, cleaners, restaurant staff all brilliant. We arrived early and were invited to have coffee and or breakfast in the restaurant. Was unaware we would be charged as we had booked bed and breakfast rate. Luckily only had a coffee! Our fault for not checking. Steak restaurant closed the days we were there. End of season.
- Maggie (9/5): A nice hotel in a good area, on a bus route and close to St. Peter Port. - Breakfast was excellent. Menu in the Rock Garden for dinner was good and the short walk up to Buho (Mexican restaurant) as an alternative, was very good. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and well trained. The taped music in the Ocean restaurant was left on during the night (even though the restaurant was closed in the evenings) and could be heard in the rooms above. Not enough information in the bedrooms about the hotel and the area.
