Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (10/5): - Excellent
- Katie (10/5): Clean for animal friendly - For animal friendly it is a very clean hotel. Our room had a dog odor that was gone after we ran the air. Staff was very friendly and super quick to refill breakfast.
- Gisele (8/5): - Good hotel
- Debra (8/5): - Business staff was very nice checking in and out. Room was clean and air conditioned worked great.
- Savanna (2/5): - Did not give us the correct rooms. Room was dirty and pull out was covered in hair and dirt.
- Marilynn (8/5): - I was pleased although the breakfast was not much to desire. Late arrival and I was looking for water. Water was warm and had bad lemons in it.
Manager was nice and he helped with an email. I appreciated that so much.
- Gary (8/5): - Staff friendly.
- James (10/5): - Exceeded expectations!
- William (10/5): Great overnight stay! - Great staff! Easy checkin!
- Cailey (2/5): - Waited 10 minutes to check in, and then waited an additional 10 minutes during the check in process. Staff was inexperienced. Reserved and paid for two queen beds, and was told when I got there they did not have any available (spoke to the manager the next day and she was unsure why she said that because there were plenty available). Additionally, ended up getting double charged since I paid via Expedia and then getting charged again during check in. Lady ended charging me for another room. She realized she made a mistake; however, never told me what happened so all I saw was a charge on my account. Only found out when I went and talked to the manager. Manager was nice but will not book again.
- Randolph (8/5): - Room was very clean and comfy. Breakfast was quite good, loved the biscuits and gravy. Pool was not in good shape and not heated. Gym was Ok.
- KayCee (10/5): - Beautiful property amazing water slide spacious room the kids loved it.
- Denee (4/5): Stay - They were doing remodeling in the elevator area so walking on drop clothes is not ideal. The ice machine did not work on 3rd floor where we were. They obviously had some kind of water damage or something but the outside of the building was rotted away the rooms that were affected windows open and the drapes hanging out. Very bad look. Coffee pot in room the plastic holder that holds the coffee did not fit and I had to hold it the whole time only 1 coffee cup in the room so I had to go get more. The hot breakfast was cold and eggs dried out needless to say we didn’t have breakfast there anymore. The staff was very polite when we checked in.
- Guadalupe (8/5): - good
- Ajaye (10/5): - Staff was super friendly and room was clean. Good stay
- Sokol (6/5): - I choose for the second time this hotel. Close to highway but the property need a little bit maintenance. It got worse in 2 years…
- Rhiannon (8/5): - This is our second time staying at the property. It is always very clean and the staff was very friendly. It's a great location. Close to shopping and restaurants. The only issue we had was the noise. There was a large group at the hotel at the same time as us. The kids were running and being loud well into the evening.
- Matthew (2/5): - Wasn't given type of room paid for. Room was dirty and badly stained carpets. Manager was rude. Had bed pads and cheap bedding. Roof is falling apart.
- Samantha (10/5): Worker Friendly - Always great accommodations when traveling for work!
- Dawn (4/5): - In the room, the vent fan in the bathroom sounded like a blade was bent, and even with it off, periodically it would make a clicking sound. There were two long black hairs in the bed, the air conditioning unit did not work properly… When I set it on 69° it was freezing and went I turned it up to 70°, it was burning up in there. The bathroom door did not open all of the way. The hook on the back of the bathroom door fell off. There was hair in the sink and on the commode seat. The chairs in the dining room were literally coming apart, and the eggs for breakfast were sitting in a soup, which was really gross. Cash and Heidi were very polite but the woman that checked me in and the woman that checked me out were very rude. My daughter-in-law‘s smoke detector started going off/chirping, and when a maintenance man came to fix it, he brought the wrong batteries and never came back with the correct one. Her room was damp and very dirty, especially the bathtub. The pool was disgusting! It definitely needs chlorine added, and to be shocked, it was so cloudy you couldn’t even see the bottom. There were no towels, and we had to ask the front desk for some. I was extremely disappointed and will be visiting KC very often, but will not return to comfort Inn and suites at this location.
- Mary (10/5): - I was impressed with the level of service offered by staff. I was disappointed to be awakened by roofers pounding in nails above my head early Friday morning. The banging sounds shocked me awake! I informed the manager about this matter.
- Glenda (8/5): - Very nice and clean
- Karen (10/5): - Clean and easy to access from a major road.
- Peggy (10/5): - Was ok
- Trent (6/5): - The stay was ok. The hotel
- Jonathan (10/5): Yes - Inspire of a smallish king room this place was exceptional
- Sarah (4/5): - The AC was awful and the shower Sunday morning had no hot water.
- Lois (10/5): - Close to interstate.
- Elisabeth (8/5): - It was a nice room. Clean and comfortable. The only disappointment was that the coffee
- James (4/5): - Non smoking room smelled of cigarettes. Flooring in room (carpet) not clean. No working ice machines in building. Coffee maker had no basket. Desk clerk unable to get anyone to address any issues.
- G651VGkarinh (2/5): Extremely Disappointed – Unresolved Issues and Poor Customer Service - I booked a two-night stay at this hotel through the Choice Hotels website for the Comfort Inn in Shawnee, KS on March 31, 2025, paying approximately $330. Unfortunately, my experience from June 27–29, 2025, was deeply disappointing and frustrating.
June 27, 2025 – Arrival and First Impressions
Upon arrival, we checked into a room on the third floor. The elevator was noisy and clearly in need of maintenance. Disturbingly, just outside the elevator, Room 317 had a door that appeared to have been kicked in, marked with a “Caution Keep Out” sign, and emitting a foul odor. The hallway was filled with an overpowering chemical smell. While our room itself was clean and comfortable, the bathroom door wouldn’t not open all the way and we discovered that the shower had no hot water. Attempts to contact the front desk went unanswered, and due to time constraints for a prenuptial dinner, we were unable to address the issue immediately.
June 28, 2025 – No Hot Water, No Response
The next morning, the hot water issue persisted. I repeatedly called the front desk from our room phone with no response. With a family wedding to attend, we had no choice but to take cold showers. I reported the issue in person before leaving, and the front desk staff assured me maintenance would look into it. However, upon returning late that night, the problem remained unresolved. I again received no answer from the front desk phone, so I went down in person. The night staff, casually dressed and unprofessional in appearance, apologized. A man named Max suggested moving us to another room, but we declined as my husband was already asleep. Max admitted maintenance does not work on weekends and said he would check the breaker. He also promised compensation for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, the hot water issue remained unresolved.
June 29, 2025 – Still No Hot Water, No Follow-Up
The next morning, we again had no hot water. At checkout, I spoke with the same staff member from the night before. She apologized and said she would leave a note for the manager, who would be in later that day. I provided my contact information and was told I would receive a call. That call never came. I attempted to call the hotel three more times that day, no answer and no voicemail option.
Escalation to Corporate and Final Attempt at Resolution
I contacted Choice Hotels Customer Service and spoke with JC, a representative, who documented my case and submitted a request for the hotel manager to contact me. He also advised me to continue trying to reach the hotel directly. On June 30, I finally reached someone named Bobby. After explaining the situation, she dismissively asked, “What do you want? A discount or something?” I explained that we paid for a room with basic amenities, including hot water, which we never received. She offered a mere $30 credit—less than 10% of our total cost—which I found unacceptable. She refused to escalate the issue further, stating the manager, Sunny, would not be available until the following Monday and he would call me then.
Final Thoughts
After this experience, I looked up reviews for this property and was disheartened to find numerous similar complaints dating back months—no hot water, foul odors, broken doors, unresponsive staff, and poor customer service. It’s clear these issues are ongoing and unaddressed. This hotel continues to rent rooms without resolving serious maintenance and service problems.
I would strongly advise against staying at this property. Based on this experience, I am also reconsidering staying at any Choice Hotels in the future and will be canceling my rewards account through them.
- Emily (8/5): - Pretty decent for the price. Breakfast was good. Location was convenient. Kids liked the water slide. Had some random odd things: a door to a room had been busted in and was just sitting there with a sign, the elevator would shake sometimes, the tv remote had the batteries taped in with no back (also didn't work).
Overall: would stay again, wouldn't pay more though.
- Navigate599364 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - This hotel is extremely dirty. The room had food from previous guests under the bed and in the corners...hair all over the bathroom. They do not clean rooms daily...only when you ask. Even after that cleaning, the old food was still on the floor...and they hair in the bathrooms. Hot water did not work. Treadmill in the fitness center did not work. Pool was out of service. Pictures on the hotel website are extremely misleading...must be from another newer hotel. Avoid this place at all costs and find somewhere else to stay.
- Thomas (2/5): - They ghosted us. So we stayed somewhere else.
- andy14231 (2/5): Please Call - Hotel doesn't answer the phone. I prepaid of the stay and hotel charge me again. I would like to have my money back. I won't be staying here again................................................................................................
- Heidi (4/5): - The property was in a good location and the beds were comfy. Our poor experience started by getting out in a room that was occupied by another guest who we walked in on while he was sleeping. We got reassigned a room which had a dirty bandaid on the vanity shelf. The property was in ill repair and had a busted in door near the elevator of the third floor. In addition, the hallways were not vacuumed, the staff butted in front of us at the waffle station, and the people above is were so noisy we could hear every footstep. Comfort Inn, you can do better!!
- Paige (2/5): - This was probably one of the worst experiences I've had at a hotel not only with where a room is not correct for me and a friend but I was double charged I was told there was going to be a pool for my kids to swim at which we were in this particular town for my children and then we were not able to do that the room smells like smoke and it was quite literally disgusting
- Kenneth (4/5): - Checked in first room notice failure in cleaning and the restocking of toilet paper after settleing it was notice carpet in the room was saturated in water after observing leak in the roof a request was to moved to different room Room 2 was observed to be below room 1 very strong musky order and dampness smell was detected requested a third room lights around the bed with only working have stayed in several comfort suites and this was one of the porrest ones
- Hilary (2/5): - We had freezing cold water 2 out of our 3 nights with no solution. No ice in any of their ice machine all weekend. Rude staff. No discount for inconvenience. I would NOT recommend staying here. Next time I will stay at the Fairfield across the street!
- Chanita (10/5): - Overall, the stay was tranquil and convenient, and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I frowned on was that in the bathroom had a used pop can in that had been left there, otherwise my stay was peaceful and smooth.
- Thomas (10/5): - It’s ok.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great experience. Location is great for food
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleased - It was a literal last minute 11pm decision to get a hotel for the night. This hotel did not disappoint very clean . Breakfast was good . Beds were comfy and rooms were clean
- Maly (10/5): Great stay at Comfort Inn - Very cleaned and family friendly. Best was super comfy
- Carrie (6/5): - The night shift either from Colorado (didn’t get his name), SUPER helpful and so polite!! Room has patch spots that hadn’t been painted. Shower curtain was too small and water would spray out into the bathroom floor.
Pool was not open. Breakfast was ok- standard eggs, bacon and biscuits
- Melissa (6/5): Ok but not great - The pool heater wasn't working and we booked a two queen but ended up with one king instead. We had to use the hide-a-bed and it had a giant pee spot on it. Other than that, the room was clean. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive.
- Lynne (10/5): - Very helpful and clean
- Janice (8/5): - Close to interstatr
- Jennifer (8/5): - T
- Lee (2/5): - Absolutely disappointed. We asked for a refund because the pool and slide were closed and the only reason we picked this hotel was to enjoy the time with our kids. We were never issued a refund and I know if someone cared they could make it happen. We will never be using Hotels.com again even though we’ve used them for all our travels the last 7 years or so. We never even stayed at the hotel and went for great Wolfe lodge instead.
- Jessica (2/5): Thumbs Down - Start of by them saying pool was down until next day, next morning they say next week. Now they let us know we can swim at the sister hotel.
No hot water in our room. Waited until 12:30 A.M to still have no hot water. Next day have hot water. Shower floor was brown. Used towel to stand in it.
Breakfast was burnt, bad and some had mold.
All that was said was, my apologies. Won't be back.
- DAVID (10/5): Comfort inn Shawnee ks - Just loved it a lot
- Amber (8/5): - Upon arrival we waited about 8 minutes before anyone came to the front desk to check us in. At check in they asked if we would change rooms. I agreed as long as it was the same price. We got our key and went to the room to find it hadn’t been cleaned. The bed was not made and dirty towels in the bathroom. We went back downstairs and the guy told me he didn’t have any more rooms. I asked for him to cancel my payment and he told me I had to since I booked from a third party. I tried and since I had checked in it wouldn’t let me cancel. He then said he could get me in a queen bed. We went to the room and there were bags belonging to someone else in there along with other personal belongings. We went back down and he said he could give me a suite for the same price. He went up and checked the room before he gave us the keys. This room was great. They did make it right, but I’m not sure why he told me he didn’t have any rooms when he did have some available.
- Nancy (8/5): - The staff was welcoming and friendly.
- Betsy (6/5): - Everything was a bit dusty & smelled musty like they don't use that room very often. It was right next to the waterslide & above the pool so it was kind of loud but that stopped before 10, so i didn't care about the noise. The shampoo & conditioner in the bathroom were half used & the lotion was empty & the bottle was also sticky. I was only there 1 night for my sons hockey tournament so i just stayed there but i won't be back.
- Scott (8/5): - Clean and comfy beds
- Foster (8/5): - Road construction. Very dark area at night on the southeast corner.
- Matt (8/5): - It is beginning to look dated some of the furniture in the breakfast area was badly worn and the shower was showing some mold
- Lucinda (10/5): - Easy checkin process and rooms were updated
- Luann (10/5): - It was clean and nice. BreaKfast was good too
- Elizabeth (6/5): - The elevator and entire floor smelled like cigarette smoke. Which was odd because the person at the front desk even made a point to tell us not to smoke in his rooms.
- Danny (10/5): - The Front Desk , a gentlemen by the name of Jose is amazing. He has that place looking the best it has since it first opened! He is friendly, and kind, and gracious. Your industry needs more people like him. Thank you.
- Eric (2/5): - The power in my room shut off 4 times!! I booked this hotel because IT SAID it had laundry rooms available but when I tried to use the laundry room they said it was out of order. People were making noises and letting the room doors slam all night cause me and my son to not be able to sleep, the blinds to the windows do not close so anyton the first could could easily have someone looking into their room.
- Ashley (8/5): - It was nice for the one night. No water pressure if I remember correctly.
- Julie (8/5): - N/A
- Tommy (6/5): - Staff is outstanding! Quiet, comfortable bed but small pillows. Outside needs a fresh coat of paint. Many restaurants are across the street.
- Steve (8/5): - Shower drain cover in 207 was loose. Someone could cut their foot on this.
- Will (2/5): - Awful management, cleanliness and ran down
- Dean (10/5): - Nice and quiet. Staff were great very accommodating. Will stay there again.
- andrewsC5500AU (2/5): Terrible, dirty, rude and neglected. Out of the 90 hotels I’ve stayed at this year alone, this is by far the worst one! - I stay at more hotels for work than I do my own home. This is absolutely trash. They gave us keys to an occupied room for starters. After that mess, our actual room was dirty, the door won’t lock, there is hair and mold everywhere and the pool is closed which is the only reason why we booked this place. The manager doesn’t care and acts like it’s an inconvenience anytime you ask for something that requires him to get out of his chair. Go anywhere else!
- Nick (10/5): - The staff was very nice and helpful
- Douglas (8/5): - Good.
- Chad (4/5): - This property is not that old and is declining fast. There was no hot water to speak of during our stay.
- drewsE6826PV (2/5): Smoking in room scam - Drew Shoemaker
1/5
8 minutes ago on Google
These folks have a scam going , they charged us $150 an hour after we had left for smoking in the room ! My wife and I do not smoke , ever ! Looking on line I saw that they had used this scam before , took three hours of back n forth before the hotel finally relented , look out for the manager
- LaKeisha (10/5): - Staff was excellent. Brenda and Shawn need a pay raise. They make you feel very welcome. They were super attentive to our needs. Breakfast was excellent.
- Niki (6/5): - The shower drain was sharp and cut my daughter foot in room 227. That room is RIGHT by the fire escape everyone uses along with the pool slide so it’s louder. Pool was FREEZING cold, kids were shivering and the slide need something so that kids don’t hit their heads (mine hit their head over and over) The room was clean but I did find dog hair in my bed. Ice machine was broken on every floor all weekend long. The staff was very kind and helpful. I don’t think we will be back though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Think about it. - Strange smell in second floor hallway. Breakfast foods were not hot. Noisy ventilation in bathroom. No chair to work at desk/table.
- Thomas (4/5): Not horrible but..... - Had to ask how to use the shower. Not like normal places. Asked the housekeeper and she didnt understand me and didnt even try to help.
Ran out of tiolet paper and was no other tiolet paper left out.
- Francisco (6/5): - The hallways smelled like trash all the time and my check in time was 5pm didn’t get a room till 8pm cause they didn’t have one available, I reserved a room a month before !
- Qiana (2/5): - This property was old. They lost my reservation because the computers were down. The hotel was 90 degrees and smelled like broccoli all they the hotel. The inside of the rooms smelled ok. The shower didn’t work only bath. The water was cold and never got hot. The bathroom and shower were dirty. The pool was closed which is good because it was brown and green inside. There were many beer and pizza containers in the pool area. There was no phone in the room. The linens were dirty We had to lay on top of the blanket. The elevator was very dirty inside. Yellow Wet Floor sign in the elevator from the time i checked in until i checked out. Overall the property has potential but it’s very unkept. Therate was ok at $130 but the facility was more like a Super 8 or Motel 6 so $130 was high. I will not stay here again.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Quiet setting, room is very clean
- Stacy (10/5): - It was average. Breakfast alrite…
- Alyssa (8/5): - The staff at the front desk is friendly and the breakfast was pretty good. The hotel is in a good location, it was just a little outdated.
- Salvador (10/5): - Good service
- Domnick (10/5): - Clean and polite staff
- Ashlee (2/5): - Well they called and canceled my room before I could check in. I wasn’t very happy considering I was traveling alone with my daughter. Very unprofessional!
- Heath (10/5): Will Stay Again, Good Breakfast. - Very nice place. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I have to say the breakfast was very good and had lots of items that could easily be taken with you on the go along with items that you could sit down and enjoy. Fresh lemon water, coffee and tea in lobby. Very nice to get a cool drink after driving 3 hours.
- Jacob (6/5): - Water slide was interesting for the kids. Breakfast was good. They even opened breakfast early for our softball players.
Water heater that served our room must have been broken. Cold shower the second night of our stay, and then the following morning also. The hotel over booked, and we did not get the level/style of room that we originally booked.
- J4937MTamys (4/5): $150 overcharge. - I checked in on 3/2 and checked out on 3/4. My credit card was charged the amount for two nights’ stay on 3/4/26. I requested a partial refund because of the hot water system’s failure which resulted in a delayed shower on 3/3/24 and no shower at all on 3/4/24. Instead of deducting money from the cost of the stay, Comfort Inn charged me an additional $150 on 3/4/24. Although I requested a refund of the $150 overcharge directly from Comfort Inn's manager, Dustin, it was only because I contested the charge on my credit card and provided proof that the amount was returned.
- Dave (8/5): - Need a bell at the desk
- Lyle (8/5): - I think they need a good deep cleaning done.
- Timothy (10/5): - It was nice, staff was personable, breakfast was good. Would stay again if I’m in the area
- Debbie (2/5): - Dirty room, dead bugs on the floor and even charged for a service dog to stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Check in and out - Had to wait forever to even have someone at the front desk to check in. Then the same when I checked out.
There was a used bar of soap in the shower.
- Andrea (6/5): - This property was ok on cleanliness. We only had one towel and no shampoo the first night, but the front desk took care of it. Bed was comfy and breakfast was excellent though.
- Chris (2/5): - There were heavy police that had a situation on our floor. they came in with a shield and large weapon. We did have to evacuate our floor due to safety. The hot water was not working and made showering impossible. Unless you wanted to take a freezing shower. The air-conditioning would either be freezing, or the room would be too hot. The TV signal would go out at times. I will say the staff was new but very nice and they did their best with what they had to work with. The breakfast was okay but not much to choose from.
- Brian (10/5): - The staff was very helpful. The kids loved the pool and the slide. The breakfast was great with plenty of options. I'd stay there again. It was very busy and the staff still made it great! Very friendly!
- Roland (4/5): - Pool was closed the whole time we were there. What sucked because it was over Spring break and the kids had nothing to do. The only reason we booked that hotel was for the pool and slide
- Kelly (2/5): - No hot water!!!! Dont bother staying here. No Towles either. They said they are waiting for new towels delivery to arrive.
- Stephanie (4/5): - The hotel was a great location and the staff was incredibly nice and friendly. But the room was not clean. I found a makeup case and I used Q-tip on the floor and the shower. Had pink mold like you get when you don’t wash it for a long time, and there was black Hairs all over the wall of the shower before we had even used it . The pool had a really funky smell, and there was vomit on the floor. We discovered as we were leaving. On day two the pool was shut down by the health inspector.
