Guest Reviews
- Lita (10/5): - Beautiful little boutique hotel right in the port of Portofino. Breakfast was a huge bonus as well. The staff was so helpful and the rooms (at least mine) was newly renovated. A word of caution that it is a walk-up hotel and definitely not handicap accessible. I would stay again in a second.
- Giulia (10/5): - Una piccola perla nel centro del paese, pulizia spettacolare e colazione ottima.
- Larry (10/5): - While public parking is the only option, bell hop service was excellent. Hotel is so conveniently located only 100 yards from the marina and with dozens of stores and restaurants within a two minute walk. Very clean rooms, highly attentive staff and excellent breakfast. Highly recommend.
- Nicole (10/5): - Great location and lovely staff
- Mithra (10/5): - Really convenient, easy access, clean, room was spacious, charming, clean. Loved the bathroom which was modern. In the middle of Portofino. Loved the place.
- Robert J (8/5): - Perfect location near waterfront in Portofino. Modest hotel but honestly preferred it over a couple of more run down, overhyped 5 starts. Excellent staff. Room was comfortable and clean, no frills but great for what we needed. Quiet. Was a pleasant surprise.
- Antonio (8/5): - Great location to main port square, to the bus back to s.Margarita and ferry if you choose. Breakfast is great and they do night service which I didn’t know. They give you beach towels too which I didn’t know. Good staff and place but they need to go through what you get
- Gerard (10/5): - A wonderfully located hotel right on the front. The staff were really welcoming and the bed was so comfortable. Would highly recommend.
- Adriana (10/5): - Nice hotel. Clean, new modern bathroom. Comfortable bed.
- Terry (6/5): - Convenient, beutiful veiws that is the only reason it gets a 3... way overpriced, wouldn't stay there again, there are much cheaper and better places to stay
- Joseph (8/5): - Decent price for the area clean courteous personnel
- Ann Marie (10/5): - Great location and check in went well
- Johan (6/5): - Needs an upgrade in renovation.
Why breakfast outside under a roof during heavy rain and not possible indoor?
Far too pricey for an average hotel like that.
Friendly staff.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Hoki’s Adventures - Love this place! Location and entire staff is so accommodating.
We will be back
- Ruben (10/5): - Fast trip, stay just 1 night, very nice hotel in the heart of Portofino.
- Peter (6/5): - Very friendly staff. NOT on the water as photo suggests. No elevator, small rooms, safe doesn’t work, AC BARELY works. Not bad for the price, but a solid “meh”.
- Nicola (10/5): - Perfectly located right on the marina. A simple breakfast was included- eggs, bacon, breads, granola and yogurt and cheese. Beautiful setting to have breakfast. Super nice staff and very helpful to direct us to little swimming coves or walks. The hotel itself is a little dated, like staying at your granny’s … flowery carpet and mahogany furniture… but the rooms were immaculately clean… little fridge/mini bar and room to make tea/coffee… just ask reception for milk 😉 we’re irish it’s a must. But all hotels in this area are dated… but it wasn’t tired looking. Shower was great and shower cap and shower gel provided etc.
overall a great choice- but note we had no balcony or no beautiful view from our room. To upgrade it would have been €150 more an night and we couldn’t justify it as it was expensive anyway- the whole area can be.
- Shaun (10/5): - Property was ideal, central to all the beautiful sites of Portofino. Everything was there that we needed. We even had a small balcony overlooking a side street, which was v pleasant at the end of the evening. Breakfast buffet was lovely and how fantastic to look out over the square snd the water. Staff were charming throughout, so helpful. Good value.
- zara (10/5): - Charming. The and the service the BEST
- Michael (10/5): - The staff is great, and accommodating. The restaurant, and location is top notch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good location, lovely hotel. - I loved my stay at Hotel Nazionale. The Junior Suite was a really lovely space with a nice balcony and view of Portofino port. The reception staff were fantastic, helping me with my luggage and calling a taxi for me to head back to France as well. Highly recommend.
- MEHMET (8/5): - Location was excellent.
- Shalise (10/5): - The property was right in the middle of the port and we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing views.
- William (10/5): Italian Charm - Great place to stay with an outsta ding view of the Portofino bay and marina!
- Lena (10/5): Idyllic Gorgeous Familiar Amazing ! - Just lovely beyond !! Thanks Gabriel and Emma I hope I wrote the names correctly both staff working were incredibly friendly and kind and it is very obvious it is a family owned establishment. Will
Be back and recommend to friends and family !
- Cathy (10/5): - Wonderful hotel and staff. VERY CLEAN!!!
- Christopher (10/5): - Location
- Thomas (10/5): - Our room had a fantastic view of the bay and main shopping/dining area. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Complementary breakfast included. Staff is friendly and helpful.
- Lindsay (10/5): - An absolute GEM in the heart of Portofino. The staff were incredible and the service was so great. Having breakfast every morning looking out at the water was a dream come true. They made our stay very special and we even got a little private terrace and patio! Next time we are in Portofino we will be staying only here ❤️
- Daniel (10/5): - Great location,great staff
- Ginna (10/5): - Great stay in Portofino conveniently clise to everything. Welcoming staff, always willjng to assist. Beauitful room with views of Protofino!, love it!
- William (10/5): - Loved the friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect for enjoying Portofino. Excellent value.
- Carla L (10/5): A Best Bet in Portofino! - The hotel is one of the best located right at the center and fronts on the harbor. Charming and comfortable rooms and a very helpful and friendly staff. Unless one is looking for super deluxe, this is the place to stay. We loved it.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Awesome place to stay. Staff are great!
- karen (10/5): - Great hotel!
- Paul (10/5): - The staff was excellent the meal choices couldn’t have been better and the location was beautiful.
- Brandon (2/5): - Awful hotel. Wi-Fi didn’t work, hair dryer was older than my grandma and windows had no blackout curtains. We slept with the outdoor lights in our face. Breakfast was also very poor. To resume, there is nothing good about this hotel other than the location. You can stay somewhere else and get a taxi. Sleeping comfortably should be a priority!
- Ilia (10/5): - This hotel is located in middle of Portofino. The central location has a perfect view from the balcony. Liked our location. Hotel is very good
- Caprice (10/5): - Highly recommend this hotel in Portofino! We got the junior suite and the room right in the heart of the harbor. Small balcony to sit and people watch.
The room is two stories with the bed in a loft. The stairs going up are kinda steep. It didn’t bother us but if you don’t want to go downstairs to the bathroom at night, I’d ask for another option. The AC worked great and bed was super comfy.
The complimentary breakfast in the morning was really good and the staff was friendly. The front desk helped us arrange a taxi to the train station when we left. Overall, we highly recommend
- James (10/5): Loving our hotel in Portofino. - 1st time in Portofino at a well-located hotel with wonderful staff.
- Hector (8/5): - Hotel in Great Location. A little hard to find because the sign is concealed but great room and view
- Eduardo (10/5): - Excellent hotel in Portofino located at the heart of Portofino an excellent value. Cozy rooms nice breakfast. Excellent dining options all around it.
- Mark (10/5): - Great location, great hotel, excellent staff. We really enjoyed our stay, and it was an incredible value for Portofino.
- Sanshiro (10/5): - Very convenient location.
Kind staffs.
Nice breakfast.
Given the price range of the near hotels, reasonable price.
Recommendable.
- Joy (10/5): Charming hotel - An absolutely charming little hotel right in the center of the Portofino harbour. Perhaps could do with a little updating, but then I think it would loose it's charm and character.
Nothing too much trouble for the staff and a beautiful outlook for breakfast.
- Leszek (10/5): - Great Location, very nice personnel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location.
- Javier (4/5): Expensive for what you get - Picture shown in the add is not of the hotel. Hotel did not meet my expectations, decoration comfort, not well maintained.
- Fiona (8/5): A room with a view! - Location could not be better, right in the heart of Portofino. Few rooms have a view to the front, but worth paying extra for that. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and in good condition. Plenty of toiletries etc. We had everything we needed. Staff kind and helpful.
A little noisy - it is right on the square, so there is passing noise of tourists and locals, but also air conditioning units outside on this and adjacent properties, through the night. We spent 5 nights there, three at the back, and two in a junior suite at the front with the most fabulous view.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location, room, staff . Excellent location. Beautiful room, helpful staff
- robert (10/5): Excellent hotel in the middle of Portofino - Nice small hotel in the middle of Portofino. Comfortable, large room with good bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location, lovely clean and comfortable room
- Louis (10/5): - The staff was very accommodating. Friendly and helpful in everyway. Held our room key for us at the front desk in and out every time we came and went! Nice touch.
- Stephen (10/5): - The staff was extremely helpful in answering our pre-arrival questions
and in getting us around the area via bus and ferry.after we arrived. We enjoyed the 'included' breakfasts in the cafe looking directly out on the harbor. The discount card for the parking garage. Our balcony where we read in the late afternoon and dried out our bathing suits. We enjoyed everything about our stay in Portofino and our stay at Hotel Nazionale.
- Leonard (10/5): Would definitely go back - The location was the best that you could have in Portofino. The help was very good and attentive. We had a 2 level junior suite. It had an older clean decor
- Tonya (8/5): A gem - Beautiful town and great room location. The bed was a bit stiff, and the staff was merely cordial.
- Bennie (10/5): - The location is perfect. The view from our window took in the entire port area. Walkable to every place. Ferries nearby.
Lovely breakfast in the outdoor restaurant.
This is not one of the big hotels with lobbies and facilities. It is quaint and personal.
- Danny (2/5): Big Disappointment - stay away - No way this hotel is worthy of a 9.0 rank, it is certainly not a 3 star hotel - the hotel description in Hotels.com is misleading completely - It is an old hotel, shabby and basic rooms,we did not have even soap in our shower. Breakfast was very poor, served in the harbor side which could have been beautiful - but nobody mentioned that in the morning the harbot plaza is extremely noisy and packed with trucks and service providers...... location was at the harbor but at a narrow alley not facing the harbor. Bottom line - stay away from this hotel!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bed was in a loft up 17 steps from the main level, and 4 more steps down to the bathroom. Minimal furniture and difficult to maneuver suitcases with all the steps. The very bast part was a tiny balcony, big enough for only two chairs, but it was over the plaza for people watching.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - You have to walk from the parking garage, all the rest is great.
- Shlomi (8/5): - It’s a problem when you come with a car you have to park far away from the hotel..
No elevator in the building you Cary your luggage 3 story’s..think about that when you come to this hotel..
- Bradford (8/5): Nice little place to stay - Tidy, quaint little 3 star right on the harbor. No uphill or downhill to see the water. Small room with a great AC but renovated nicely. Restaurant is on the plaza facing the water and is less expensive than some of the others. Suites facing harbor are booked years in advance. No lift, stairs to climb but porter will take luggage up. Call hotel and they will meet you at the barrier up the hill with an electric cart for luggage. Ask for Umberto for directions and waiter, he has it wired and speaks workable English. Not all the employees do so. Would stay there again if Portofino was on the agenda but it is more of a day trip as it is only a few stores and the castle and hiking. Very small town but in a cove that makes it famous.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Access is very difficult. Parking is if premises at half mile away. The rooms are very small.
Air conditioning with strange control... Breakfast is a joke. Bread was dry. No eggs. One type of cream cheese.
But location is the best in the Portofino Bay.
- Marilyn (4/5): Stay only if you must - I needed a hotel on short notice near Genoa Airport for flying out early in the morning. This was the closest available and at a reasonable price. The location is across for a small beach and 15 minutes by cab from the airport. It is a large older hotel. If a cab drops you at the hotel on the street side, you will have to lug you luggage up stairs. There is a level entrance in the back--have them follow the sign for the restaurant. The lobby is nice, the desk person spoke English. There is a small elevator and the lobby and halls are airconditioned--a big plus in summer. The room I got was a triple and the ceilings must have been at least 16 feet high with big windows onto the street. These are wonderful double pane windows for limiting noise and shutters on the outside for limiting light. That was the good news. The wood floors were a hodgepodge of parquet-type types that squeaked and creaked to the point I felt sorry for the folks beneath me. The shower was very small and there are small fixed sliding doors to get into it. I barely fit through the opening. It was clean. Enough towels. Lots of closet space. Not great lighting in bath or the room. The Bed was OK on comfort but the pillows were awful--flat, hard and squeaky. Very cheap linens and bed cover.
What was dreadful was that there was no kettle for coffee or tea an i was leaving before the breakfast service began in the morning. I think a three-star hotel should have coffee making in the room. The wi-fi was useless
- Alex (6/5): - Super location ! Breakfast is very poor! Rooms and furnitures is outdated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, very friendly and nice staff. Breakfast could be better.
- Celina (10/5): Perfect for the price! - This is not a five star hotel but for the are and the price it is a must!!!!! Loved it!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely location with views of the harbour at breakfast and from the room. Reception friendly. We had a suite and the bed was up some open plan stirs on a mezzanine. Other rooms had the same so if you don’t like steep stairs in the night to your bathroom then check. Breakfast very basic. No fruit. Eggs extra. It’s Portofino. If you just want the walking stay at Camogli.
- Jim (10/5): - Cozy little hotel on the plaza by the bay. Staff was friendly and helpful .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location, right on the plaza next to the water in picturesque setting. Old style accomodations and building fit the ambience of the small Italian village perfectly. Wish we’d allocated more time for our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely service - Very clean with good service , I had a lovely experience and the location was great as it was near the beach.
- Marion (10/5): Best location! - Excellent hotel. Best 3 Star you’ll find. No frills, but that’s ok because we spent our time at the beach and in town. The location can not be beat. You are right there in the heart of the town. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
- Rob (10/5): Fantastic hotel right on the beautiful harbour - Essential to book restaurants early as they mostly get fully booked everly evening.
- Ian (8/5): Portofino visit - Great place but very expensive, worth a visit
- Ian (8/5): Portofino break before we head home - For a three star hotel they delivered a service. Breakfast very basic with limited options. Room was spacious clean and tidy . View onto port very good. Portofino is just expensive and for three hundred pound a night elsewhere you would expect a lot more but here you get basic
